Far too EASY too use! Yes, too easy!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I love my Google Nest items and thought this would be the perfect companion. So first the PROs of the device. Just plug it in. That is it. Just plug it in and you are done. Setup is that easy. Now for the CONs: You have NO control. The unit won't let you change WiFi channels. It simply selects the one it thinks is best for you and does the rest. There is no web page to log into to over ride default settings. It just does the WiFi part for you. You may still have to configure your router. And of course mine opted for Channel 1 and there is no way to change that. The good news is that this thing is POWERFUL!!!! It kicked my neighbors who were using the default of channel 1 clean off. Not only did it kick my neighbors off channel one, it kicked off many of the distant ones as well. Now I am the only one on channel 1 and everyone else is using other channels. So why would I only give it three stars? Well I am a tech guy and I like having the control to put it where I want it and not have it treat me as if I am a newb. That said I have no complaints about the WiFi aspects of it. Google needs to work on the Assistant. It's still not ready for prime time but neither are Siri or Aleaxa. My biggest beef with all of them is that they won't let you change the Assistants name and the documentation for Google does state that it has a problem with dogs named Boo or Boo Boo. No, our dog's name isn't Boo. It's Blue which seems to be close enough. Get with it Google! Fix the Assistant NOW! Google assistant is pretty nice when you get used to speaking slowly. Too bad these are outdated and I need to blow another $399 to upgrade. Oh and yes they are FAST so not sure I need 6E especially now that WiFi 7 is out.

Great if ya don’t use a nighthawk cm1100 / ac1900
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Google needs to try harder. The setup was not easy. If you have Cox and a router or modem it may not work for you. I had to trying for hours to get it to connect. Do not plug anything else into your modem or router/modem combo other then the coaxial cable from ISP before starting. Make sure modem works and is actived and all lights are green. Then turn on the google router and make sure it’s got a solid white light. THEN connect via google app using an android device. If your an Apple person like me then do it on an iPad cause it doesn’t work on iPhone very well if at all from what I’ve found. Once the google app says it’s connected (took so long to get that part cause of the order of operation above) THEN go ahead and plug the Ethernet cable into your modem/router ONLY. The order is so important here. Do not connect your google router to your modem until you have connected to the android decide or iPad first and it will then tell you to hook up the cable for Ethernet. Pray it will connect to the internet on the first go. For me I had to turn off a lot of settings on my nighthawk ac1900 In the advanced settings. Turn off wifi on your nighthawk too so it’s just a modem and doesn’t interfere with google connecting to each access point. Honestly it’s such a pain and I’m shocked no one talks about it. I would have gone with a nighthawk mesh system had I known it would be this hard to setup with nighthawk modem. Other modems it seems like it’s fine from what I’ve read. Once you get it all working though it’s very nice. Love how deep the coverage is and how smooth it runs. You will have to reboot it every 6months or less just like anything else. Also it’s super annoying how the access points don’t have Ethernet ports. Google could have done better honestly. Now there are better mesh systems out there with these features that make it not worth the price.

A good Wi-Fi solution for most
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great WiFi coverage and fast speeds. Super simple management. It's well suited for most homes. My experience wasn't great. Initial setup was simple and worked perfectly fine out of the box. Everything stopped working after it's initial software update and a factory reset was all I could do to bring it back to life. It worked great after that until some internet problems I ran into weeks later. When internet connectivity drops, I'm not able to use the app to manage the devices. The only insight provided is a flashing yellow light on the unit. I got out my old wireless router and the internet started working again. Google phone support doesn't exist during the pandemic, so I didn't press this any further. Maybe it was a defective unit but this was anything but simple and straightforward for me.

Just okay for the price
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a router and two access points that really act like extenders. Wifi coverage spreads out but speed does not. Speed actually slows with each additional access point. The two access points this system comes with have built-in speakers, which sound nice. The system is also tied into Google, although getting notifications and calendar readings are better with Amazon Echo. After it's set up and the end user visits YouTube, a trial YouTube Premium may be offered, as it was in our case. So: Big Google knows all. The end user controls the erected gateway via an Android app, which has a nice, smooth GUI and readily adds a user's Google Nest Thermostat...but not its associated temperature sensors, very oddly. There also isn't a web interface, which would be really helpful during COVID, with many working with displays larger than those offered by phones and tablets. So this is like Quibi before it was available for TV. Tech support is very nice but its resources are pretty small. You just feel for them. So far the impression given is that, true to form, Google is working on the cheap with this offering of a pretty router and extenders with decent speakers and only fair Echo-wannabe IoT functionality. So...time to return for an eero?

Not as good as you’d expect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are easy to use once installed as promised. However, this is my second version of a large scale Wi-Fi system in my house. My prior one was a Netgear, your system was superior in the sense that it could adapt to my specific needs which include using my Comcast router as a bridge and supporting for VPNs in this environment as well as approximately 50 devices I once installed the Google system virtually insisted upon taking over all aspects of my previously smart things based smart home. I let that happen and I have now spent two weeks trying to get my home back to where it was before I made this god-awful purchase. it’s a pretty evil deal Google SmartThings is better ( it has plenty of issues too). And is not for those who don’t like to dabble in IT things. All said, it is fast, but unworkable for me. I am going to revert back to SmartThings.

Wired Backhaul Required (in my case)
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, the system seems to function fine, however, I run into issues in my house where the wireless points run into connection issue problems. I ended up doing hardline backhaul with all main routers (since the nest wifi points dont have ethernet ports). I was never able to pin-point the root cause of the interference with the wireless points but have at least found a way to make it work. Next upgrade of the mesh network, I plan to go with a different brand for more reliable coverage and ease of hardwire backhaul integration.

Oculus 2 VR problems
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was replacing a aging Netgear router and this mesh solution seemed ideal. Very easy setup, everything was up and running within about 10 minutes. There are a few things I didn’t like such as not being able to designate if I was connect devises to the router or the point, also not being able to designate what speed I was connecting to. Everything ran great until an Oculus 2 virtual reality devices connected to the point (not the router). It would cause disconnections of other devices from the network. Disconnect did not occur if the Oculus was connected to the router. I had to return the device and get something else which is working great

Good for most, but limited options, and random dro
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good: • Simple, clear setup and administration • WPA3 support • App is classic Google design Bad: • No web/PC interface; you have to use the app • Web filtering cannot be customized • 'Gaming preferred' is really just an advertisement for Stadia. I like Stadia, but it's not my only platform The Terrible: • The extender has randomly stopped working on more than one occasion despite the app indicating it has 'good' connection. Multiple devices just stop working randomly even when they show as connected. I expect network equipment to do their basic function at a minimum. Unfortunately Google WiFi (aka Nest WiFi) does not do this.

Bottlenecks speed
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coverage and strength were fine. Connectivity issues
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a Google fan - and this Nest Router is pretty neat. It’s easy to unbox and setup a mesh network with the connection points. My only gripe however, is that for some reason our devices get disconnected from this network randomly. And a few minutes later we can reconnect. It may be a connection issue between these and the modem we use - but I have seen that many other people have this issue. So, It hasn’t been seamless at all. Hopefully can fix that issue, otherwise I would love it.

Posted .Hi Jim627,
Thanks for letting us know of your experience with Nest Wifi. We appreciate you for being a loyal Google customer and we’re sorry that you’re experiencing connectivity issues with your Nest Wifi. Rest assured we’re here to help.
The connectivity issue may be related to a few reasons and if you're willing, we recommend trying out some troubleshooting steps below that might be helpful:
- Home layout: Building materials and other objects located between your router and Wi-Fi points or between your Wi-Fi points and mobile devices may slow your connection. If possible, try to use your device within a clear line of sight to your router or point.
- Check congestion: There could be congestion on your Wi-Fi network if you have many connected devices to the network. All these devices consume a portion of your available Wi-Fi bandwidth. You can try relieving the network by disconnecting some of the devices to see if this would increase the Wi-Fi speed for the device you’re using.
If the issue continues even after restarting or resetting your modem, then we may need to have a better look at what may be causing it.
Your Nest Wifi comes with a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty starting from the date of original purchase. We'd be more than happy to provide you with your support needs by visiting our support page here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Great potential
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ease of use and performance is great. However, the 2nd router regularly goes mute even when connected to Bluetooth. Everything will show as connected and playing but sound will not come out. You have to disconnect everything and start from scratch. Sometimes unplugging and plugging back in. First world problem but for the price it’s pretty sad. The potential is there, the follow through is not.

Posted .Hi, thanks for sharing your experience with us. We're sorry to hear that one of your Nest Wifi Point is muting regularly.
If you haven't tried yet, resetting Nest Wifi Point may be helpful in fixing the muting issue when connected via Bluetooth. If you reset a Point from the app, it'll delete all settings and data from your point, Cloud services, and the Google Home app. It'll also remove that Wifi device from your Google Account. To reset, here are the steps:
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap the name of your Point > Settings > Factory reset Wifi Point > Factory reset.
- After you factory reset a device, you’ll have to set up your Nest Wifi Point again.

Stable but coverage is not as good as expected.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The three unit Google Nest AC 2200 mesh system kept failing to setup initially. Took several hours over 2 calls with Google Tech Support to finally get these devices working. Once setup, they work consistently well and are stable, but don't provide strong enough connections in all parts of my 3300 sq ft one-level home. The room where the router is placed and its adjoining bedroom get a little more or less than the 300 Mbps speeds I get from my ISP, but in other bedrooms and living areas, speeds drop to 200 MBps and in my den, which is about 50 ft from the router, drops to a mere 50 MBps and in bathrooms about 80 MBps. That's not noticeably better than the cheaper ($ 165) TP Link Deco S4 mesh with 4 nodes that it had replaced. Can't say I am satisfied or impressed, and suspect that I may need an additional access point costing over $ 110 to provide uniformly good coverage in all rooms. But if I'm going to have to spend $ 360 in all to get good wifi over my whole home, I will have to consider the $ 350 three unit WiFi 6 triple-band Netgear Orbi 753 package from Costco (Black Friday sale) which is rated for 7500 sq ft coverage.

Posted .Hi Miken, thanks for sharing your experience. We apologize to hear about the slow Wi-Fi connection on your Nest Wifi.
The Nest Wifi router can cover up to 2200 square feet. Each Nest Wifi point can cover up to 1600 square feet. However, Wi-Fi signal coverage may be affected by different factors and we recommend trying out some tips below to help isolate the issue:
- As a general rule, points work best when they’re no more than two rooms away from each other. For example, if the far end of your house has weak Wi-Fi, don’t put a Wifi point in that exact spot. Instead, put it part way in that direction. Try to place it in an elevated position like on a shelf.
- Building materials and other objects located between your Google Wifi Points and mobile devices may slow your connection. If possible, try to use your device within a clear line of sight to your primary and secondary Points.
- There could be signal interference due to traffic on your Wi-Fi network, on your neighbors' Wi-Fi networks, or from other sources like microwaves or baby monitors.

Works but expensive and slow.
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It solved a problem in my home with dead spots in my WiFi. Was a pain to keep moving them around to find the best spots so that I had coverage everywhere. Posted .Hi hellodatsmee,
Thanks for sharing your experience with Nest Wifi. We understand how frustrating it can be when you’re not getting the speed you’re paying for and we’re here to help.
We recommend the following steps below that may help fix the issue:
- Signal interference caused by building materials and other objects located between your router and Nest Wifi points or between your Nest Wifi points and mobile devices may weaken your Wi-Fi signal and slow your connection. If possible, try to use your device within a clear line of sight to your router or point.
- Restarting your modem can fix internet connection problems, improve slow performance and resolve common wireless issues. Even if your modem appears to be working correctly, you may need to restart it to establish a secure connection to the Nest Wifi Point.
- Lastly, if you're using a modem/router, combo, you may have experienced a Double NAT case. A Double NAT is the case of having two routers (modem/router combo and Nest Wifi router) broadcasting identical but private Wi-Fi networks. In such a case, Nest Wifi may temporarily lose its Wi-Fi bandwidth. To fix this, you can put the combo in bridge mode or disable its Wi-Fi functionality to avoid connection issues.
Should you still encounter some issue after performing the steps above, then we may need to have a deeper look at what may be causing the issue so we can improve your experience. did not seem to help my wifi coverage very much
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i bought this to help my spotty wi fi coverage on first floor of two story house, as well as outside back patio/porch. My internet connection is on second floor in office and i do not have ethernet cabling to the rest of the house. So TV streaming is wi fi only, as well as some security cameras, and audio streaming outside. I set the main router in my office, with one point near the open foyer, and second one near rear of house on first floor. The mesh connection checks out great. My main TV on first floor is not quite in direct line of sight of the access point, but pretty close to it. The outside patio/porch are in direct line of sight. I got this mesh system to replace on old RT-N66U that is still functional but has a broken power button (have a zip tie to hold the button in). I am more than a little disappointed that my wi fi coverage is not much, if any better. Pro-easy to set up and monitor using the app. Con-the main router has ONE ethernet port available other than the one connecting it to my internet modem.

Posted .Hi ralph, thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with the Wi-Fi coverage for Nest Wifi.
The placement of your Nest Wifi Router and Nest Wifi Points is vital to have reliable Wi-Fi throughout your home. As a general rule, points work best when they’re no more than two rooms away from each other. For example, if the far end of your house has poor Wi-Fi, don’t put a Nest Wifi Point in that exact spot. Instead, put it part way in that direction. Try to place it in an elevated position like on a shelf. If you haven't yet, we highly suggest trying these steps below that might be helpful:
- Repositioning the Points to avoid obstructions like walls, doors, and aquariums can improve performance.
- Make sure all unused devices are off and not draining bandwidth with large downloads.
- Check for possible sources of interference such as microwave ovens, refrigerators or other equipment.
- Restart your network.
- Run a mesh test to confirm placement of your Nest Wifi Points.

I really wanted to love this....
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to love this router and points bundle. The problems tends to be that there is no way to have certain devices connect only to the main router or one of the points. I have a spin bike in the basement along with a point there. At times, it will connect to the upstairs main router and my connection will go to weak. The only way I have found to have it reconnect to the basement point is to unplug the spin bike and hope it reconnects to the basement point. Very frustrating that this happens when there is literally a point just a few feet away. On a plus side, it has increased the range of wifi in certain areas of the house especially outside on the deck. Also if you have an apple device that you are using to set this up ( the app is required for set up), it is so difficult. We spent 2 hours and were about to give up when we called support. It took another hour before it was figured out that we had a certain setting on our phone turned off that was needed to connect the points. Very frustrating.

Posted .Hi there Shadow, thanks for sharing your insights with us. We're sorry to hear about the connectivity issue you are experiencing with Nest Wifi, and for falling short in providing your support needs.
The issue is most likely related to signal interference caused by the walls in your basement. Placing your Nest Wifi Router and Points strategically will help provide better signal reception and provide a stable connection. Ideally, Nest Wifi Router and Points should be no more than 2 rooms apart and in line of sight from each other for the best experience.

||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I though I knew what to expect but I was wrong. The main hub worked ok, but each additional hub cuts the bandwidth in half. I pay for 400mbps speeds and was only getting 60mbps at the third node in the basement. Decent wifi system
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall it’s a good system and I’m happy with it. I have a 2500 sq ft house where I’ve faced a lot of challenges getting good signal in all rooms. I added two of the to the older google mesh points, I now have 5 throughout the house. I have great signal throughout. However, setting up was very frustrating and took far longer than necessary. I had to do a lot of google searches to troubleshoot. Google stopped using a wifi specific app and you have to use google home app, which is terrible. Most times the app won’t let me connect to run diagnostics and I haven’t had a successful wifi mesh test in several attempts. My mesh says weak connection with some points which is baffling with 5 mesh/nest points, but not really sure since the mesh test doesn’t work for me. The pain in initial setup, weak mesh status in app despite 5 wifi points and the difficulty with the app are why I’d rate 2.5 stars if I could.

It's good but leaves a lot to be desired
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this up from Best Buy after doing a lot of research online and watching video after video on YouTube. Where this Google Nest Wifi does have a lot of good, it definitely has a lot that left me wanting for more. Pros: 1) I am seeing better internet speeds in my home overall. I pay for 250MB/sec but was only seeing around 3-4 MB/sec in my upstairs office with my old Nighthawk router. With this, I am now seeing speeds reach over 20 MB/sec. It isn't the speed I wanted but I will come back to this later. 2) This design of a router is way more "aesthetically appealing" as my wife puts it. She hated looking at the black router we had before with all the different antennas coming out the back and pointing every which way. If someone wasn't actively looking for our router, I don't think they would even notice it was there. It just blends in with the rest of its surroundings. The middle: 1) Google Voice responds to and picks up our voices a lot better than our Amazon Echo does. We find ourselves having to repeat ourselves a couple times with the Amazon product and, even then, it still doesn't always get what we are asking it to do correctly. Where the Google Assistant is better in this regard, one off putting feature of this is when it comes to the "mute" switch that is located on the back of the unit. When you switch Google to "mute", a couple things are put in motion. First, there is a yellow ring that is constantly shown on the bottom of the unit. In the light of day, this is barely noticeable; however, when the lights go down, it sticks out like the nightlight you never knew you bought. We have ours mounted on the wall (which is lightly colored) and it casts around a five foot diameter halo on the wall. Someone might love this but we find it distracting when we are trying to power down at the end of the day. Second, the Google Home app, which you have to download in order to get everything to function, starts pushing notifications every time that the "muted" device starts picking up someone talking. It pushes to my phone constantly (android) and my wife has less pushes (iPhone) but they are still coming through. Last, if the notifications weren't enough, if you ever use the word "Google" in a normal, day to day sentence, the unit will kindly (but annoyingly) remind you that it is in the "mute" mode and to switch it back on if you want to use it. Cons: 1) As stated before, I am having better speeds than I had before, but I am still left without the internet I wanted. I don't live in a very large home (700 SF each floor). My "router" unit is located on the main level on the far side of my house. The "point" unit is up in my office, one level up, on the other side of the house. With this, they still talk to each other and I am still getting 20 or so MB/sec; however, that is all. No matter how I position them in different rooms, walls, etc, they will not pump out anything higher than 20 or so MB/sec. The only place I was actually able to get them to produce faster results was when I put the router at the bottom of the stairs on an overturned laundry basket and the point on another basket on the top of the stairs. Only then did they get up around 50-75 MB/sec. 2) One thing that completely boggles my mind is that the "points" with this system do not have their own Ethernet connection slot. The router unit does have two connection ports, one for the ethernet from the wall and one to another close device. If your computer or device that needs a direct, wired connection is in close proximity to the router, you're golden. If it is somewhere close to the "point", you're out of luck. 3) The google "customer support" (or "lack of support") wasn't very helpful when I called to discuss my connection issues. The only thing they seemed to be able to think of was "buy another point". "Buy another point" and put it directly above your router on the floor above and then it won't have issues communicating with the point in your office. "Buy another point" and put it directly under your office on the same floor as the router and you'll be fine. I understand that they would suggest this in order to shorten the connection distance but the thing is that I moved my point throughout the entire upstairs (directly over the router, directly under the computer, in between the router and the computer, etc.) and nothing seemed to help until the units were in direct, unobstructed sight of each other. I get it, buying another point might help spread the coverage better but when you advertise on your direct website that a router and and point will cover a home 3800 SF and I am having issues covering a house with less than 1400 SF, I have serious trust issues when it comes to your "customer support" telling me to just shell out another $150 for another point (which then should put me up over 5400 SF according to the all-trustworthy website) that doesn't seem like it would help anymore that what I already have to deal with. Overall, I would probably not purchase this again and would most likely shell out for something like Orbi but it gets the job done for now. We'll probably keep it for a couple years but will definitely be looking to upgrade at that point to another system.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
