Good but not great...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything runs smooth however being that the 1st gen had ethernet ports at each access point and this gen dont, is a bummer. Could really use that feature to make this product flawless. That and adding more to the router base would help. Overall happy with this purchase. Does what it says. Extends your connection. And also it has features like priority device, and also allows you to pretty much be the admin for your network capabilities.

Great if ya don’t use a nighthawk cm1100 / ac1900
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Google needs to try harder. The setup was not easy. If you have Cox and a router or modem it may not work for you. I had to trying for hours to get it to connect. Do not plug anything else into your modem or router/modem combo other then the coaxial cable from ISP before starting. Make sure modem works and is actived and all lights are green. Then turn on the google router and make sure it’s got a solid white light. THEN connect via google app using an android device. If your an Apple person like me then do it on an iPad cause it doesn’t work on iPhone very well if at all from what I’ve found. Once the google app says it’s connected (took so long to get that part cause of the order of operation above) THEN go ahead and plug the Ethernet cable into your modem/router ONLY. The order is so important here. Do not connect your google router to your modem until you have connected to the android decide or iPad first and it will then tell you to hook up the cable for Ethernet. Pray it will connect to the internet on the first go. For me I had to turn off a lot of settings on my nighthawk ac1900 In the advanced settings. Turn off wifi on your nighthawk too so it’s just a modem and doesn’t interfere with google connecting to each access point. Honestly it’s such a pain and I’m shocked no one talks about it. I would have gone with a nighthawk mesh system had I known it would be this hard to setup with nighthawk modem. Other modems it seems like it’s fine from what I’ve read. Once you get it all working though it’s very nice. Love how deep the coverage is and how smooth it runs. You will have to reboot it every 6months or less just like anything else. Also it’s super annoying how the access points don’t have Ethernet ports. Google could have done better honestly. Now there are better mesh systems out there with these features that make it not worth the price.

Great for Google Home Households
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently moved from a small one-bedroom apartment into a house, so the drop in WiFi signal from one end of the house to the other was surprising. Our internet speeds are 200 Mbps down/ 10 Mbps up and we receive that while in the room with the router. Moving to the other end of the home where we sleep and that signal would drop to around 30 mbps down and 8 Mbps up. After purchasing this kit, the router is still on one side of the home, we have one access point in the middle of the home in our library and another in the primary bedroom and we maintain the 200 Mbps down / 10 Mbps pretty much everywhere in and around the home. We're already a decently heavy Google household so the fact that the access points double as voice assistants is pretty handy as well. The largest con to the Nest Wifi router is the fact that it only has one ethernet port. This is fine, because an 8 port Gigabit Ethernet switch is like $25 at most. But I can see how people who aren't necessarily tech-savvy have no idea what a network switch even is. The other con is the lack of choosing what WiFi network to connect to (whether it be 5 Ghz or 2.4 GHz). For the most part, the automation works well, but there are a few times where my partners desktop will only connect to 2.4 Ghz and it leaves her with a slightly slower connection. Overall kinda minor, as it quickly adjusts, but still an inconvenience. With that being said, I still think this Mesh Router from Nest is the go-to option for those who are already a Google household. So far, the issues presented are minor at best, but I would highly recommend picking up a network switch with this router to ensure you have enough Ethernet ports available.

Simplified WiFi to Boost Your Connected Home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With internet usage and connected home devices increasing so much in your typical household, the need for high quality routers have become more common. I believe that the best form of achieving this is through a mesh router system and Google has really made an achievement with their new Google Nest Wifi Mesh System. PROS: - The design of the router and the point are very appealing. Everything is smooth, seamless, and its meant to be that way. Google did this on purpose to encourage users to have them out in the open as opposed to tucked away. The router will work much better being out in the open so it’s a good choice to make them beautiful! - Set-Up was very easy. As expected, Google makes everything feel so simplified and straight forward. It was a clean process and I was very pleased with the set up! - This package features a Router and a Point, which is very common for mesh systems. The Router plugs in directly to your modem so that it gets the hard wired internet source. Then the Point can be placed elsewhere in the house and it just requires power. The system works together flawlessly and really provides a strong boost of internet across multiple levels of your home. It is worth noting that the "Point" isn't as strong as the Router, which seems obvious, but I had no issues as the Point delivered much stronger internet than I previously had to an almost dead internet area of my home. - The Point makes up for its subtle lack in power, by doubling as a Google Nest Speaker as well and it sounds great! Once again, this encourages you to place it out in the open but the speaker sounds great, has all the same functionality as a Google Nest Mini, and even has a colorful ring to it. - Lastly, Google really makes this WiFi very easy to manage and just makes it feel so much more accessible than any other WiFi system I have used. By integrating this into your Google Home App and Google Assistants, there are plenty of perks you enjoy. This includes checking connection speeds, setting up Guest networks, see what devices are on it, prioritize which devices are more important for WiFi, and even turn off WiFi for devices aka devices your kids are using. I also really enjoy that you can use a Google Smart Display device to show what your speed tests are or display password information easily. CONS: - The biggest complaint I foresee people having is that the router only has 2 Ethernet ports. One being for the input and one being for output. Sure there are ways around this issue but it would be nicer to have more ports. - At the time of this review, you really need two apps to access every feature for these routers: The Google Home app and the Google WiFi app. Eventually, Google will merge these two apps into one but for the time being you will have to have two apps if you really want to utilize all the features - although this isn't necessary. - This mesh system does not support WiFi 6. It seems odd considering WiFi 6 is moving forward as the latest and greatest in home consumer WiFi, but Google opted against including it in this system. BOTTOM LINE: - This system is an all-around win-win for home internet users. On one hand it can be simple and out of the way for you minimalists while providing easy controls when needed. On the other hand, it can be a welcomed addition to you heavy smart-home users by providing a well-integrated Mesh WiFi system that works so well with your other devices. Google knows how to make high quality products, with comfortable ease of use, at reasonable prices compared to what others offer - this Google Nest Mesh System is no exception and will keep you happy.

Google Nest Wifi - Better Range Within Minutes.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are still using the wifi router provided to you by your internet service provider, chances are (unless you live in a very small house or apartment), that you are not completely happy with your wifi performance. Your signal can be strong in one room, and non-existent in the next. You may wish to sit “here”, but you can’t get a signal unless you move a few feet over “there”, where you don’t want to sit. You may have tried wifi repeaters or extenders in the past, but they basically just create a second network in your home with slow speeds and similar dead zones, forcing you to switch back and forth. Enter the Google Nest wifi router and “point” (what they call an extender). These small, semi/almost round devices that can fit in your hand create what’s called a “mesh” system where by connecting the Google router to your existing router, you can transfer the wifi functions to it, allowing it to send out stronger signals in both the 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz frequencies simultaneously. The “point(s)” (very slightly smaller than the router itself) are set in other areas of your home, picking up the signal from the main Google router, and boosting them even further. Nicer still, they do not create a separate network in the same way older models do, but instead, extend the one you have. If you buy a pair (one being the main router and the other the point device), you have three choices of colors, but the router is always white – the point comes in three colors… Mist (a very pale blueish color), Sand (which to me looks Pink), and Snow (white). For large homes, you can also get a router and two points sets. You need to install the appropriate Google Home app to set the system up, and instructions for doing so are simple and included in the app, which works on Apple devices and Android. Provided there are no unforeseen hiccups, you should be up and running within minutes. I know a couple of other people with these devices aside from myself, and one of them did not even need the extra access point – the Google router alone provided stronger and faster wifi than their older one did. One of them has a multi-level home and they did use the point on another level, which did boost speeds and reliability in that area. For myself, the router speed dropped off once it reached the other side of the single level ranch style house, but the overall STRENGTH of it was stronger than my older model… no dead spots. Side-note: Your access point should you decide to use it, also doubles as a Google Assistant device, where you can ask it a variety of questions, control lights, and more with the appropriate equipment. I do recommend this system, but there is one warning involved – if you have some types of security cameras, doorbells, and devices that ONLY run on a 2.4 ghz frequency, some people can have an issue where they won’t connect, or they won’t stay connected, to a mesh system like this because it transmits on both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz at the same time. They get confused it seems. Now, RING (doorbells, cameras, etc) tech support can walk you through how to get around this. If you are lucky (very lucky) you can get a tech at ARLO to do this, too. Your success will vary and you may have to make more than one call if you do run into this issue, so just be prepared knowing that you MIGHT have to do this to ensure all of your devices work with it. Waving a finger at these other device makers though, they need to get with it and update their devices to work on all wifi frequencies, and better be able to detect, connect to, and maintain connection to, mesh networks. It’s not always the router’s fault – many times it’s the device makers not keeping their devices updated, and one rep with one of these companies even admitted to me they are behind in catching up to working with mesh networks. My one big complaint about the router itself, and it is a big one as others have pointed out, is that the Google router only has one “out” ethernet port on the back for extra devices. That’s it. Camera systems like Arlo require you plug their own hub into one of these. Perhaps you have smart bulbs that come with a small hub as well that need a port, or home phone service, etc. In my opinion, there really is NO excuse for Google only putting one extra ethernet port on this device. Just be aware of this because if you have various things that you currently have plugged directly into your old modem, you may need extra equipment if you are going to use this one to replace it entirely – and the point device has NO ethernet ports. It’s for this reason I won’t give this 5 stars, and really, would drop it to 3 ½ if I could. Yeah – big booboo, Google. Otherwise, yes, it’s a reliable system for those willing to do the tech call work to perhaps get some of their devices to work with it. But you will most likely be rewarded with a stronger wifi signal over greater ranges.

What an improvement!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What an improvement these made to my wifi! My previous wifi router was not getting the job done. I was getting about 1/10th of the wifi speed I'm paying for. With the Google Nest Wifi Mesh system, I'm getting faster wifi than I'm paying for. I went from 10 Mbps to 115 Mbps and it's amazing. My smart TV would buffer and sometimes stop the stream on shows and movies, my laptop was frustrating to load pages or just emails. Not anymore. The photo attached is a speed test done on my wifi connected laptop which is as fast as the direct ethernet connection my son gets on his gaming desktop. Our cell phones, the PS4 and TV all show getting the same speeds on wifi. The router took a little bit to set up, the point was effortless. I bought a network switch to use with it as I have hubs for smart lights and cameras and the router has only one ethernet port other than the one that connects to the modem. It did take quite some time to get everything connected back up to the wifi but it was well worth it to get the speed. The router will detect the best way to connect. My smart lights connect via 2.4 only and there is no way to manually set it, but it was not a problem as it detected it automatically. I did have to unlink everything that was not Google, and relink them to get them connected. I've had no more buffering or getting kicked out of streaming. The Google Assistant Speaker works the same as the Google minis I have around the house, with better sound quality. I would recommend this system to anyone wanting to improve their wifi speeds.

Great Mesh Wifi System
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have slowly brought more and more google smart home products into our home within recent years. They have all performed what I have asked them to well. I have started to notice that my old Asus RT-N66U was struggling to keep up with all of the wifi devices I had connected. Between my wife's laptop, our multiple smart tvs, the doorbell cameras and my son's tablet/switch, it would chug at times and reset. For six years that little router did his best. I was looking at mesh systems and the google wifi kept coming up as a nice option. I kept biding my time trying to limp the router along. Finally I retired the poor thing and picked up the Nest Wifi 2 pack. I have a ~2500 sq ft brick ranch home with a basement, and this seemed perfect. I was right. I have always setup my own routers and tweaked a lot of the settings. You cannot really do that with this router. That is ok for me, but might frustrate some who have specialized needs. Then again, if that is something you are looking for I bet you are not considering this. Anyway, setup was a breeze. Connect 3 cables, use the Google Home app to set it all up. Then take the point, set it somewhere out in the open and do the setup of that. The point is not only a part of the mesh system but also a google home speaker as well. Keep in mind that the base router unit is not a speaker however. The only bad thing I have found with this particular router is that it only has 1 ethernet out of the router and zero of them on the point. It works for me as it sits next to my gaming desktop with the modem and that is hardwired. The rest of the networking is wireless. Overall I am very happy. TL;DR: Great mesh system, ~10 install, simple router interface, single ethernet out, do recommend.

Never have to think about my wifi anymore.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up was very simple, and I have found excellent coverage from the system throughout the house. Having upgraded from an wifi extender system, this product represents a substantial improvement. I haven't had any issues with signal or wifi drops. The speeds were also tripled over my previous system, so we are able to fully realize our internet speeds and stream multiple devices. Further a lot of our hassles with connecting with our Sonos system, streaming quality, etc have all seemed to vanish. It was a WFH upgrade that has paid for itself already. Managing the devices through the app on your phone is pretty straightforward, not that you really need to spend much time worrying about the system to begin with. The only real drawback I have found thus far is that you will need to buy a separate switch if you still have a lot of ethernet based devices, i.e Sonos, MyCloud. The router here only has one port connection. Very happy with the purchase so far.

Better than I thought
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system is super easy to setup through the google home app. The wireless access points are also google assistants which means they are voice activated. I did however have to turn off the voice activation because it did not seem to work well with all my google home minis I have. They seemed to not be able to decide who was going to do the action I requested so they kind of cancelled each other. Turning the mic off on these units has fixed that. You may not have this issue though if you don’t have other voice powered google devices. Using the google Wifi app, you can see what devices are connected to which access point. The one downfall is if you want anything hardwired there is only one LAN Ethernet plug on the base hub, so you will need to get a cheap switch if you want things plugged in via Ethernet. I have had no problems with connections. They are in three separate rooms with no direct view and are getting a “great” mesh connection, which is the best you can get. I consistently am getting my full internet speeds from all access points when testing. You will definitely want your streaming devices over 5ghz, so if you have the option to pick on your device, please set it to 5ghz. I usually keep all my smart devices on the 2ghz. Keep in mind that google WiFi app does not give you the option of picking what frequency or what access point your devices connect to or with. There are a ton of family features, guest WiFi, etc. overall, I’ve had no problems with this at all and it works very well across my 30+ devices.

Great Router and mesh system.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the eeros system, I love that system but had one flaw the the router kept dying on me. Lucky for me i didn't own the system. My ISP own all the equipment so after the 3 router died i finally had enough. I started to look up many reviews on this google nest system that everyone seem to really love. I will have to agree i love the system. I haven't had any issues with it (yet). The fact you get two wifi signal buster that are also google speaker make it nice. The router itself is simple no million ports on it just two of them. Now for gamers that can be downfall so you might want to by a mini switch so you can have extra ports. The setup is simple just download the app and follow the instructions. I will say for the price it little high but with everything you can add to it, i can say it worth it

Good Steady WiFi Signal.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first version of the Google Mesh had intermittent outages. This replacement was easy to install with my AT&T modem/router. I have had no interference issues even though I left the AT&T device settings as is from the prior AT&T service call. The WiFi signal has been steady, fast and even throughout the house and back patio. Would have liked one of the modules to have an Ethernet connection. That would have come in handy for me. I found a work-around.

Great router but lack certain features.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using the new Google Nest WiFi vs the Google WiFi, I get better connection in the room furthest away from the modem than before. It does really extend the WiFi connection distance. Like it's predecessor, it's easy to set up. However, only the Nest WiFi Router has the ethernet port. Why can't Google place one on the secondary Nest Point. The previous Google WiFi device points all have an ethernet port. Apparently I didn't read it correctly before buying, but only the Nest WiFi Point has the Google Home feature. Overall, it's a great easy to setup device to provide consistent WiFi to all the devices throughout the house. 1850 sq ft home with 2 Nest WiFi is sufficient. I used the other 2 Google WiFi as extras connecting to the TVs via ethernet in the rooms.

Great to extend your network
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup, use and maintain. These things just work! I've used these in a lot of applications and they are essentially maintenance free. If the power goes off or there is an internet outage, they will reconnect themselves. The coverage is pretty impressive in a mult-story house and the signal even spills outside quite a ways so you can connect things like exterior cameras to the network. The only thing I don't like about them is that there is no ethernet port like on the previous versions.

Fantastic upgrade for our Home Network
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This made a night and day difference in terms of speed, performance and mainly overall experience with our home wifi. We had our router in the basement and the devices on other side of the house one second floor bedroom would act up intermittently. Just a 2 pack router and access point did the trick. Totally recommneded. Awesome product! If I had to pick on something (constructively ofcourse) An Ethernet port on the access point would have been a great addition. Something to think about Google for the next edition. Orbi has it. You could too. :-)

Great coverage in a 4000 sqft house
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this wifi mesh setup for my house to ensure that we have good wifi coverage on all 3 levels of our house. Previously there were some dead zone areas that the wifi just wouldn't work. This setup has corrected that issue and it actually reaches all the way out to a barn that is roughly 70 feet away from the house. This has good coverage and speed for all of our connected devices. The only issue that I have is that it only has one ethernet port on the router itself. So, there are limitations there that require additional hardware.

Reliable WiFi for the whole house.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the past few years we've been AT&T Fiber subscribers and used AT&T's bundled modem/router. It seemed to work okay, but WiFi was always flaky at the opposite end of the house and the speeds never quite matched up with what we were paying for. I know WiFi is typically going to be slower, but I didn't feel like it had the total throughput to satisfy all our devices - streaming boxes, PC's, etc. The network would bog down, and we had 300 Mbps service at the time. Finally we cancelled U-verse TV (which ran through the modem/router) and upgraded to Gigabit Fiber, which opened the opportunity for us to use a separate router. Within 5 minutes of unboxing this thing, I had a perfectly usable and fast connection all over my property. Only hassle was figuring out how to disable the router of my AT&T box so the Google WiFi got the public IP - a quick Google search and I was on my way. 5 minutes total from unboxing to fast WiFi all over the home. It probably would have worked fine had I left it as a cascaded router, but do it right if you're going to do it at all. It doesn't bog down with multiple streaming boxes or PC's going. During the current pandemic, we've got multiple TV's streaming and laptops working from home pretty much all day. Wireless printers printing. WiFi speakers streaming radio. Even 4K streaming movies on our living room TV. All wireless, no sweat. Only downside - there's only one downlink ethernet port. For us it's no biggie, the WiFi is great but eventually if I want to add more wired devices, no big deal to hook a relatively cheap Gigabit switch to that port and add pretty much as many devices as I want. The mesh repeater is also a Google Home smart speaker, but there's a switch on the back of it to disable that functionality which we have done. It only needs power - it meshes wirelessly with the main hub. Simple to set up, you do it on your phone in 5 minutes. If I can do it, you can do it. You can get cheaper WiFi routers, there's no doubt about that. But if you're like me, you're okay with paying a reasonable premium for a better experience. I wouldn't spend twice this price on a router, but this unit is a good choice I think.

A great mesh system with some flaws
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this mesh wifi system has been great. Wonderful coverage through the house. Good speeds. Simple and attractive design. However, only having one ethernet output (and only on the router, not the point) limits this system. I have a Hue hub that is plugged into, but now cannot add any other smart home items that require a hub plugged directly into the router (ex. Arlo cameras). If you don't have smart home items in need of hubs or any other devices like a gaming setup you want wired for speed, this works. Otherwise, they need to add additional options to wire in more devices directly.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product works amazing. Setup was super easy and I have not had any connectivity issues since day one. If you run google assistant as your smart home then the nodes are awesome add-one as they double as a google mini. Read carefully tho as this has 1 main unit with a single Ethernet connector and 2 of the google mini nodes. A unmanaged nether net switch is an easy fix to only having the single Ethernet port. App is super easy to use. 11/10.

Increased Speeds and Range
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a huge upgrade for the home and resulted in much faster internet speeds. The difference is night and day. It's a small house so I initially thought I only needed one, but my walls must be really thick so it was very helpful having the extra point. Setup was very easy. I wish the router had more ethernet ports for additional devices (I had to purchase a switch alongside it), but aside from that its a great product and highly recommend.

This new Nest Wifi mesh router works very well to provide entire house coverage. Setup is very simple. If you have WiFi performance or coverage issues, get one of these. If you need more ethernet ports I would suggest buying a separate ethernet switch in addition to this router. I replaced my Orbi mesh router after 3 years because of recent constant dropped connections.
