Horrible connections though my 1500sqft apartment.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router works great if you’re close to it or down have any walls in the way, as soon as you have anything like that, you’re screwed. In my apartment if you’re 15 feet from the router and through a wall, you will get nearly zero connection, when you have an unobstructed path you’re fine. Even my router for 2012 which I replaced was getting better speeds than this. Will be returning this tomorrow. Ease of use is just fine, super easy to setup, but trash afterwards.

Posted .Hi there ImperialPhysiques, we appreciate your insights on Nest Wifi. We're sorry to hear about the constant connectivity drops you're experiencing with it.
We recommend checking if you´re using a modem/router combo. If you are, we recommend setting it up in bridge mode and disabling its Wi-Fi functionality. This will avoid any network issues caused by both your combo and Nest Wifi Router, broadcasting the same SSID and password. You may then connect your Nest Wifi Router to your modem using an Ethernet cable, and then connect your Nest Wifi Points to your Nest Wifi Router wirelessly.
The connection drops you are experiencing could also be affected by interference caused by the building materials in your home. There could also be signal interference due to traffic on your Wi-Fi network, on your neighbors' Wi-Fi networks, or from other sources like microwaves or baby monitors. We recommend keeping your Nest Wifi Points in a clear line of sight to ensure you don't get any drops. Also, as a general rule, Nest Wifi Points work best when they’re no more than two rooms away from each other.
We'd be happy to take a look at the issue you're having. Please feel free to reach out to us at Google Wifi Help page: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

No hard wire ports downgrade from last model
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Google has removed all the ports for the extra 2/3 nodes. Last model allowed you to plug a cable in and run a switch for hardware that needs to be hardwired into a hub. This is a huge disappointment as it was not listed anywhere and not clearly available that these do not have any ports. The old models do have ports! Shame

Miserable device causing endless frustration!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Extremely frustrating! While the mesh router capability works fine (despite the Google Home app telling me otherwise), the voice activated music speaker function is less than worthless. If I had a dollar for ever time got the response "There was a glitch, try again in a few seconds" or "Sorry, something went wrong, try again in a few seconds" I'd have enough money to buy a better system. Unplugging and trying again sometimes works, but then I have to place it in an easily accessible location when I'd prefer to have it hidden out of the way. Set-up was fairly easy, adding an additional mesh point was also pretty easy. Google Home app is unintuitive and considering it was created by one of the biggest tech companies in the world, surprisingly featureless and unintuitive. Great concept, miserable execution Google.

Terrible Connectivity and Slow Speeds
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrible product. Ive had the mesh wifi for little over a year now and it has been the worst investment ive ever made. Since day 1 ive had connectivity issues and speed issues. Not only can you never get 5g wifi speed but the 2g wifi speed is worse than it should be too. Im writing this review now because just after 1 year of having these they decided to stop working. They are not connecting and while the wifi is still somehow up it states it has no internet. Ive reset it and everything with no luck. Avoid these products at all cost, a regular router with wifi is a million times better than this mesh crap.

Avoid!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolute garbage. Worked for 13 months. I got cameras, thermostats, assistants, spent around $1300 on associated google home products. Now it suddenly cut out. I tried everything, google support, thankfully Best Buy said they would help and replace it (I have an appointment tomorrow so will report back if their solution actually works out) My advice is to stay away from google. Terrible support, overpriced garbage products

$300 fancy looking paper weight
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Huge failure on Google's part. We had this combination for about 6 month's and it 'works' okay if you're using the wired network (still not reaching expected speeds though), which in itself isn't exactly easy since the router only has ONE RJ45 port for outgoing ethernet (the 'point' doesn't have any). This was never a concern to me to begin with, since I was planning on only running the hyped up "High speed WiFi" which allegedly supports AC2200 MU-MIMO and has 4 built in antennas.. yeah.. no, good luck with that! The coverage itself is garbage compared to this products price point, and any "high speed WiFi" is no where to be seen. We even changed ISP, thinking that must have been the issue (at first we never considered that it was the router itself being a lemon, because come on.. it's Google, they're supposed to know this stuff, right?). Upgrading ourselves to 940/880 Mbps unfortunately did nothing to help the situation as we were still only getting about 180/8 Mbps (yes, no joke, 8!). I've spent hours on the phone with Google's support (WiFi care) without any sign of salvation, and guess what? Their support is as knowledgeable as the manufacturer of this product, as everything I was asked to do and try, I found myself after a simple search around the internet (the exact same steps and even phrasing used in the article..). So yes, Google support also 'googles' the issues, because not even they seem to know how this product function... or doesn't function. Eventually we gave up, spent $99 (way cheaper than this faulty crap) on a new router, which not only had the 'usual' amount of RJ45 ports so we didn't have to use a Switch for our smart hubs. But hey guess what? It worked flawlessly out of the box and we're now getting WiFi speeds at 600/500:ish, which is about the expected speed for our service over WiFi, and about 900/800 on wired, and the coverage is way better than Nest WiFi! So now we're just trying to get Google to accept that their product is faulty and take it back, or send out a replacement unit incase ours happened to be a lemon. Unfortunately even THIS is an issue by itself, as the alleged support keeps changing stories as to what we tried and what results we got during the hours of testing... you'd think they would take notes, right? NOPE.. Or they're just trying to bend the truth to save themselves some pennies, who knows. I quite honestly didn't expect any of this from a company like Google.. Sum it all up, don't buy this, save yourself the money and headaches that comes with this product. Spend a third of the cost on a much better alternative and buy your loved one some chocolate (or tools!), and you'll be a winner in everyone's book (..perhaps not Google's book). Included a picture of the speeds we were getting through the Google WiFi (which runs its test raw, so at its best.. the speed on your devices would be worse).

Signal recovery not working properly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My experience with this mesh system has not been good. After installing the router, my signal and internet speed was excellent. Once I walked to the other end of our house the signal became worse and the speed was dramatically reduced, which is to be expected. However, once I walked back to the router, the signal and speed did not recover fully for quite a long time. The speed improved, but remained much, much slower. After waiting a long time next to the router, I've noticed that the signal and speed suddenly return to normal, but this long time lag should definitely not exist for such an expensive system. I don't have the point installed, so this is not causing any interference. Anyway, I worked with Google's technical support and after running a diagnostic they said that there was a problem with the router and I should exchange it for a new one. I did this, but the problem persists with the new one so I'm unfortunately going to return this system and get a different one. I've seen this issue posted on a bunch of forums now and it remains unresolved, so I don't think there is a short term fix until Google issues some type of update to fix the problem. I just don't really want to deal with the hassle at this point. I have a Google-based smart home and was looking forward to tying everything together with the Nest mesh, but unfortunately, this won't be the case.

Don't do it
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok this thing was by far the WORST system to set up. BUT I WILL SAY THIS, once you got it going after several hours of unhelpful customer service and YouTube videos it worked decently for about a year. Now i find myself having to restart it every other day. And i paid 300 for it, now it's on sale for 70 bucks. Not cool

Download speed is not good on active device.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have replaced Motorola wifi router with this Mesh router (AC2200). But, I am not satisfied with this google Mesh router. Because, download speed is very less (sometimes kb/s) for each device. But, At the same time, when i checked the internet speed status on google home app, it shows the correct download and upload speeds based on the ISP plan subscription. I do want each time to set the priority of the device to get the high download speed on specific device. Router should know based on the device usage or idle, it should provide right internet speed. I tried many options in home app, but, i could not fix this issue. Finally, I switched back to my previous Motorola wifi router.

Posted .Hi there, Selva. Thank you for sharing your review with us. We're sorry to hear that your experience with your Nest Wifi has been less than ideal when it comes to providing you with fast internet speeds. We suggest checking the 'Set Priority Device' feature if it's enabled. When a priority device is active, the other devices have their upload speed limited to 25% of their average upload speed. If you've done this step already or if the issue still persists, we recommend that you reach out to our support team and let us help find a better resolution for you. Not ready for Prime Time
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the 1st generation and it works beautifully and every add on point even has a LAN port. This generation is so buggy. The software and hardware having major problems. To set this up you go to Google Home app. OK easy enough. To view the status Network, router/add on points or reboot the system and use all the advanced features you go over the Google WIFI app. REALLY GOOGLE? Than when you go over to Google WIFI you might get a surprise like showing 2 Kitchen (name of your wifi point) when you set it up as Living room, Kitchen, Master Bedroom. Called Google, they said "yeah we haven't ported over all the features to Google Wifi yet but we are working on it" To top off everything, it worked great for a 2 months when 1 of the wifi points said "Weak Signal". So I moved it to 2" from the Router, still weak signal. Again I call Google. They walk me through changing the DNS to a Custom address. That worked for all of 2 weeks, now again that same add on point is WEAK again. Think I will stick with Netgear.

Not performing, Crashed 2x
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After doing my research, I decided to try this Google Mesh wireless. I read many good things about it and although it had some known downsides, I thought i would give it a try. Walking into this, I knew that i would get only 1 direct ethernet plug, we use 4 today. I decided to move our storage devices to the cloud to clean that up. Installation was pretty straight forward, no issues. There's some nice things you can do with grouping devices together if you want to pause the internet. Pretty cool. It's only single band, which i didn't realize but no worries. The devices are cool and that was part of the appeal because a router looks horrible in an office. The network was running less than 4 hours and it crashed. I was worried because the only way you can restart it is from the app and the app was being odd. Otherwise i would have had to power it off. All of what i read "no spinning" or waiting for network. Never had this before, but now i was seeing this on our AppleTVs. I looked at QOS and you can't permanently set QOS, it's only for up to 4 hours. what? well, i did that and no improvement. I thought it would improve 'in time' because it is supposed to be self-learning. A week later, the network crashed again. That's twice, i'm done. I will put my 5 year old Linksys dual band system back in. One of the antennas is busted and we get perfect performance with it and QOS that i can permanently set. I wanted to upgrade given I have a broken antenna, but this won't be it. I really wanted this to work. We have 100MB internet and 20 or so devices, with 2 AppleTVs and 2 gaming computers and 2 productivity (including web conferences) in the house.

Quite disappointed. Devices started failing.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t think these Nest combos are worth it, to be frank. I bought three additional nodes on Amazon (refurbished) and they are doing better. The first generation of Google wifi devices are better and more consistent. The Nest devices I bought from BestBuy started to failing right away. It started with one and the main router failed. I had to replace the router with a 1st generation puck to improve consistency. At this point, I feel there are better choices.

Garbage!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently upgraded to Cox gigablast internet and needed a new router. I liked the idea of managing all my in home smart devices through one app. Got this setup primarily for now to serve as our router. Integration was seamless, setup was super easy. But (there's always a but).. I ran a speed test from my mobile phone on wifi with my phone literally sitting on the router, and I was only getting 40Mbps down/up. Ran the same test from my laptop and and had identical results. Checked the app for any hidden settings.. ran a speed test from the modem to my router and the router was receiving 980 up/down. Hardwired my laptop to the router and ran a test. 950Mbps down/up. Did some searching online and came across MANY forums where so many people are going on about the same thing. Called my isp and had them be sure that all ports were unlocked on the modem and there was no default throttling configured. There wasn't. Called Google support and was simply told that these speeds are expected regardless of what speeds my modem is sending it. Really Google? Do all the positive reviews here not know what a simple speedtest is? Returned it today and got the Orbi instead. Now my wifi on all devices are receiving the high speeds that I'm paying for (~750 down/up). If you're looking for a router to go with fiber/gigabit internet, save yourself the headache and frustration, and immediately remove this from your consideration. Thank me later.

Bugs galore! Avoid if you actually want good wifi
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have since returned my units but have a few thoughts on Nest Wifi that need to be shared. Pros: Setup was easy and intuitive within the Google Home app. Various levels of settings were useful and allowed for moderate network manipulation for those needing to do things like address reservations and port forwarding. Cons: Bugs galore. Within 20 minutes of completing the setip and getting a good number of devices on the network, it became immediately obvious there were both speed degradation issues and poor connection strength issues. My space only 1200 sqft and with maximum of 1-2 walls between the router and the device. I pay for 750 down and up but would barely get 75mbps and that was standing right next to the primary router. The slow speeds were a noted bug by Google in the beginning of 2021 and still hasnt had a firmware update to resolve the issues that were prevalent on Google's forums. The additional bug was that WiFi would constantly drop and require daily reboots of the network. I experienced this multiple times in the three days i had this setup. As an IT professional, the lack of proper firnware updates from Google and the poor experience of using and staying connected to the WiFi is simply unacceptable for a consumer level product at this price and from a company like Google. If you want reliable internet in your home and specifically need it to be a mesh network setup, use either TP-LINK Deco or Eero.

Google customer service is awful
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many people, I have been working from home since March. I bought this nest system in July and it solved my connection problems. No more getting booted off Zoom calls. No more download slowdowns. Then four months later the router broke. It seems it's a defective router. It loses connection over and over and over again. It's still under warranty but the process of getting a replacement from Google is absurd. I have had three chats with Google customer service. I've filled out three forms. I've downloaded three or four diagnostic tests for them. I've had to grant them access to my connection for a day. I've allowed them to place a $180 hold on my credit card. I've filled out an order for a replacement. And they still have not shipped it. Making matters worse, every email Google sends gets filtered into Gmail's junk folder. You'd think since they invented the email they could figure out how to use it so that their own product recognized their email. I almost never write reviews, but I feel like it's a public service for me to warn you guys away from this product. I will never buy a Google product again, and if I had it do over again, I would choose a different system.

Not really a mesh but a star. NOT RECOMMENDED
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only works ok if your house is an empty square. Not really a mesh system but a star based meaning both of your satellite nodes must be connected to the router one. So you need to have your router in the middle of the house and extend from it with the satellite ones. My AT&T router works better by itself than the whole mesh thing, and it's on the same room as the router one. You sat nodes would crap out if there's at least 1 obstacle between the node and the router.
