Expensive, but you get what you pay for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product has been out for a few years now. This is my 2nd unit and it's been good so far. Battery lasts a really long time. However, it's very expensive and bulky compared to competitors that have more features, like door open/close sensors I've also never seen this lock on sale. Google's other products go on sale often, so I think it's on Yale with that. I think it's due for a refresh or 2nd generation that also slims it down.

Simplified my life
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product with great features with seamless installation instructions. My 2 issues: 1-Using my zip code for the lock time zone is limitation when setting up the passcode usage times. 2-Nest/Yale should integrate the lock with Apple Homekit. That would make it even easier to use.

Not as full Featured As Some Competitors
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This smart lock may not be as full featured as some of it's competitors, but if you're "all in" with Nest, as I am, then it's a no brainer. Hopefully it will gain voice assistant integration so that we can lock our doors and check lock status with voice. Works beautifully with the Nest ecosystem. Hardware setup can be a little challenging, but I'm not handy in the least and got it done. You may need a power drill though.

Great, but...
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lock looks good, it ties in with Nest very well, and works good. BUT... we installed this on our wine room door to keep the kids out of any teenage temptations, while we are out of town. Aparently, the code they use to get in the front door after school will also get them into this lock. There is no way to grant access to ONLY certain users / family. That seems silly that the family users has 100% access, or 0%. We side stepped this by adding a "2nd home" to our Nest account, and adding the lock there only, and only to 1 user. The notification that the lock was unlocked never gets to us. Not sure why we dont get those notifications.

Posted .Hi there Flyingwithgoodsound, thanks for reaching out. We appreciate your feedback and the workaround you did, by creating a new Home structure and adding your Nest x Yale Lock was a great idea. We do apologize if you're not getting the notifications.
If you’re not getting alerts from Nest, make sure that your devices are online, that you’ve set up notifications on the Nest app and the Home app, and that your phone isn’t set to block Nest app notifications. Also, check that your Nest emails aren’t in the junk folder. We also recommend ensuring that your Nest devices are online. Your Nest devices won’t be able to send you emails or alerts if they’re offline.
Nest x Yale Lock were specifically designed to be installed on your main door. However, we value your feedback and we'll certainly look into the features you require, since we're always on the lookout for ways we can keep improving our products. Key less Security
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Nest/Yale Smart Lock is an impressive device that provides streamlined security. The installation and setup of the Smart Lock are pretty easy. It took me about an hour to install my Smart Lock with hardly any frustration. Setting up the Nest network and app is easy. Keep in mind, the app and Nest function isn’t required. If you want, you can use the Smart Lock keypad and nothing more. It’s up to you. But know that using the app with the Smart Lock provides more features such as locking the door after you have left your home or getting notifications if someone has tampered with the lock. You can even create a temporary entry code for someone. I know that there have been many situations where a friend wanted to drop off something but wasn’t comfortable leaving it on the patio. Now I can assign them a code and the app will notify me when they have used the code. My other concern was with the touchpad and whether someone might be able to ‘figure out’ what the entry code is. The Nest/Yale Smart Lock touchpad doesn’t leave fingerprint traces when you use it. Speaking of the keypad, it wakes up right away when you touch it and recognizes your code the first time you use it. There aren’t any of those entering the same code several times moments. If there was anything that I wish I could change about this Smart Lock would be the navigation through the app. It can be frustrating at times but in no way does it compromise the security of the Smart Lock. The Nest/Yale Smart Lock is a great device that will have you leaving your house keys behind.

Fantastic Lock w/ some caveats
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: App for phone Everything included in the box Sturdy design Customer service extremely helpful Cons: Setup was problematic No integration w/ Google Home, Amazon Alexia, Xfinity Home, Apple Home Pod App had initial problems Just got this delivered yesterday and to say I was excited is a gross understatement. First off let me say I got this to replace my aging Kevo lock that had become such a problem to use that I entered through my garage just so I wouldn't have to mess with it. That being said going from the Kevo to this system is like going from a Ford Pinto to a Lamborghini. The packaging is very well done and I had no problems finding all the parts that I needed to install the lock. Also the instructions were very easy to read and understand. The first thing I did was install the app on my Android phone (I have a Note 8) and then activate the Nest Connect to my WiFi network. This was fairly simple and straightforward process. You have to create a Nest account and then once you do that you just simply use the app to set it up by following the instructions on your phone. Next came the actual instillation of the lock. This again is pretty straightforward. I did have an issue w/ extending my deadbolt to the longer 2 3/4 length. So I made my first call to tech support. I left my phone number on the automated system for them to call me back and received a callback in less than 5 minutes. My problem was that the actual deadbolt was sticking out about a 1/4 inch and wouldn't retract. The rep was extremely helpful and gave me the high tech advice to essentially smack the dead bolt against the ground to get it to retract all the way. This worked and I could then properly extend my deadbolt latch to the required 2 3/4 length. I had no further difficulties installing the deadbolt and was able to get it done in about 30-45 minutes (give or take). Then came connecting the lock to the Nest Connect. This was all done through the app. I decide to place my Nest Connect in the hallway directly across from my front door maybe 15' away and direct line of sight. For some reason these two devices would not talk to each other or connect. I spent probably another 15-20 minutes trying to get it to work before I made my second call to customer service. Again I left my phone number and recieved a callback in less than 5 minutes. They then proceeded to transfer me to the proper department. While I was waiting for them to pick up, I had the brilliant idea to move the Nest Connect closer to the lock and while technically in another room it was within 5-10' of the lock. Well it all connected with little to no effort at all. I hung up and they actually called me back in a couple minutes. They apologized for getting disconnected at which time I explained to them that I actually had gotten it to work and had been the one to hang up. Again I can't say enough good things about their customer support. Finally came the part where I added people to the account. First I added my wife. This was done by sending her an invite so she could have full access. This sent her an email in which she had to create her own account through Nest. This took a couple attempts to get her all set up however this was through no fault of Nest as my wife kept changing what email account she wanted to use. Once she was set up everything worked great. I also gave my two kids access codes which they got to choose themselves. They didn't need an invitation since I didn't give them full access. Setting them up required me to go to the Family & Guests section on my app. Clicking on Add a person, entering their name, and select Home entry only. This gave them a passcode that I was able to customize. It also allowed me determine when they had access and when it would expire. Very simple setup. I was even able to add their pictures to their profile. I proceeded to test the lock using my app. I walked out of the house and stood in my driveway. I then attempted to lock and unlock my door from about 50' away. For some reason I received an error message and it would not work. So I connected to my WiFi and tried again. This time it worked with no problem. This seemed problematic to me as I was under the impression I was able to lock and unlock the device from anywhere using my phone. I went inside and looked over some things then decided to try again. I turned off my WiFi on my phone and this time stood at the end of my driveway. This time it worked perfectly with no issues. The only real problem I have with this lock so far is it doesn't integrate with my Xfinity home security system or Google Home. This is a feature that I believe is coming to both systems though and look forward to this feature As far as whether I would recommend this system to anyone. This is a resounding yes. The setup is straightforward if not a little problematic. The customer support is top notch and they have YouTube tutorials for reference too. The app while it had it's initial problems has since worked flawlessly for me. The lock itself is gorgeous and very easy to use.

Good but not great
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First and foremost. It does what it is supposed to do. We got this lock because we don’t like the notion of leaving a spare key hidden somewhere. And once you’ve locked yourself outside one time you’ll see just for that purpose alone is a reason to want something like this. It works wonderfully once set up. But that’s the problem. Getting it to connect to our WiFi was a pain in the butt. It took like 40 minutes to get our router and the Connect to sync. And then we bought a new router about two weeks later and guess what. Took about 40 minutes to find new router to sync. And then changed router password and took probably 5 minutes to sync it that time. Other than the sync thing it works flawlessly. I can unlock door from my truck before I go in home with the app. I never have to worry about forgetting my house key. My kids have a code and I know when they get home or open door. Having the option to set up a guest pin and then put a time frame on when their pin can be used is great as well. That way if the neighbor wants to walk the dog I can set them a pin and time frame it can be used.

As long as its not defective its amazing
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would have given this 5 stars but the first one I received the touch keypad that lights up never lit up again after the first day I installed it. At night time, couldn't see anything on the keypad it was a total defect. Best buy of course took a return and I ordered another one which works correctly. It's super easy to use and I love that you can unlock and lock from your phone in the nest app. It also has auto lock so I literally never lock my door when I close it, it will do so itself in 60 seconds. Look and performance this has to be in my opinion the best on the market. As long as its not defective its amazing! Set up wasnt that hard I did reference youtube video from someone who broke it down very easily.

Great lock with lots of potential
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As I have purchased a several other Nest devices in the last 18 months I really wanted this lock to go with the Hello Doorbell. I was hoping that it would integrate with my smart home and assistants. First, setup is silly easy. If you have ever installed a deadbolt before you won't have any issues at all with this. Excellent instructions and a well designed product made the hardware portion a breeze. If you have other Next devices then setup is pretty much automatic. Even if you don't Nest has done a brilliant job of making installs almost foolproof. Once it is setup all you have to do is some basic configuration. You add authorized users and give the passcodes. I don't know if there is a limit to the number you can have, but I would guess they thought of that. You can enable auto-lock, notifications and several other bits and bobs. What you can't do is use your voice assistant with the lock. While I understand it would be a security issue to be able to just unlock the door with a quick command, it would be nice to lock it. Or at least check and see if it is locked. But I'm sure they will be adding features as it matures. I do need to point out that the touchscreen works very well, but not the same as a smartphone screen. You have to slow down a bit and make sure each digit registers. Overall I am happy with the Next x Yale lock. It works well and is absolutely gorgeous. I'm knocking off one star for cost. Paying $300 is awfully high with the features offered at this time. Still if you have other Nest devices you'll probably want to get it.

Great product but one major flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works very well until the Nedt Connect device starts malfunctioning. Which then requires the connect to be fully reset, otherwise, to add new codes, the batteries of the lock need to be removed and reinstalled to reboot the lock and allow it to register the new code.

Love it!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this lock! Pretty easy to install. Works great with nest home app and compatible with google home. Many options and easy to customize settings. The ONLY changes I would like is Bluetooth compatibility to automatically unlock when I'm in range and for Google to allow unlock by voice command. Neither are currently available

Excellent smart lock
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research before deciding on the Yale Nest lock and I believe I made the right choice. I did not give it 5 stars for two reasons. Tech help leaves a lot to be desired as the customer reps are not knowledgeable, a common problem when dealing with overseas reps. I reported a damaged cover in December, got a confirmation of a new cover being on its way and never received the replacement, I just complained again, no apology, just an email saying that I should get a new cover within a week. My other complaint is that it proved very difficult to connect the lock control to my WiFi as it was not receiving the signal, finally it occurred to me to put an extension cord close to the door and plug the control in the extension cord and that solved the problem. Later I had an electrician put an outlet close to the door as a permanent solution. The instructions claim the unit can receive WiFi signals up to 40 ft but that’s not the case, it only receives the signal when it’s less then 10 ft away. Outside of these two problems the unit works flawlessly, one of the best features it has besides WiFi is that when you have people visiting you can assign them a passcode in lieu of having them download the app and this code can be set up with a starting and ending date.

Easy to setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you already have nest and google home products it is a breeze to setup and install. took about 30 minutes to install and setup. You can lock the door with your voice and check your door's lock status. Keep in mind you cannot unlock the door with your voice. You can have multiple codes and see who is coming and going.

Excellent Once Installed and Configured
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 3 Nest/Yale locks installed on a rental property. For the most part, physical installation was easy with very little modification required to adapt the previous lock installation for the Nest locks. The only issues that I've had with the product is on the connection from the lock to the hub. On two of the three locks, the connection did not occur when the installation instructions were precisely followed, and the hubs were plugged in close to the locks. In order to achieve the connection, I had to reset the hub, AND reset the lock. The latter requires removing the two small screws that hold the inside-mounted electronics to the door, and then following the reset instructions that Nest provides. It's a frustrating process, and cumbersome to do once you think that you've finished the installation and then need to remove part of the lock again. For this reason, I've knocked a star off from my review.

Great lock!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Making my review backwards. Overall, this lock works well for the last half of the day today after installation. I must say that there were set backs that made it difficult and about a few hours to complete and troubleshoot and still has connectivity issues. 1st: the deadbolt wouldnt extend to size, thus jimmying it and forcing it to finally open up took about 5-10 minutes what shouldve taken less than 5-10 seconds. Nitpicky? Nah. 2nd: the back portion that gets installed first and then the deadbolt switch was tight, meaning that once the thin portion is installed, youd have to force the deadbolt switch up to align the screws. Weird. 3rd: going through the installation via nest app is easy, but trying to integrate it with google home was a failure. Why? Seriously. It should have been as simple as logging in but it doesnt allow me. 4rd: after it ran its test multiple times due to failure, i adjusted the same deadbolt strike plate that came with the house and it works without the google iteration of the strike plate. Anyways… The sole reason i bought this was to integrate with google, and it has not shown to work.

Works great!!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros/Cons Pros: Easy to install!!! YouTube works wonders Battery Life seems great! Can program multiple codes to get in. Interface to remotely lock and unlock is great. (Once it's set up right...) Fast and simple to get in and out of your home. Cons: Price is too high for it. If it was 100 or 150 I would be ok with it. You need to have a wireless access point or router kinda close to it. For wireless systems to work. (it can still work with no signal) Unlocking the the door with the app alone isn't quick... (You have to be in the app and click on the unlock function.) WANTS FOR THE PRODUCT!!! Lower Price Allow for a setting to be turned on so you can just put your phone up to the device and it auto unlocks for you.

Installation is not easy.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lock is a good idea. Installation is a hassle. It has to be perfectly aligned to operate. Any insulation etc on the door can result in slight misalignmnet and the lock will get stuck. I replaced part of insulation with a outside insulation tape. Nkw it misaligns on the other direction. Tricky.

Great locks if you’re in the Google ecosystem
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second time buying these (putting them on ny house now). They are amazing if you are in the Google/nest ecosystem. They are also the most responsive as a few locks I’ve had the keypads are laggy and these I’ve never had an issue. Battery life is also amazing (use lithium batteries). Only downside is it’s only nest/Google and you have to use the included bridge since they don’t connect directly to wifi. I get it to save battery they use a more efficient protocol but it is less convenient.
