    COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY

I’m reviewing this for an opportunity to win $400. Not because I need it but because I spent $100 plus on this piece of garbage. My network was 100x better without it. I am very well versed in networking and troubleshooting. Even if after all the time spent it worked properly, I would still advise against this. It does not maintain connections, it has to entirely to close to the router almost negating what we are buying it for. The app and setup is stressful and time consuming. I simply wanted my network to extend out to my driveway so we could open the garage via Apple car play while still sitting in the vehicle. Apparently too much to ask. Anyway maybe I’ll win the 400 bucks so I can get my money back since it’s out of the returnable window. This thing is a dumpster fire!!!

Tried to extend my WiFi range by maybe a couple feet. The extender was less the 20 feet from the router and the connection was a fraction of what I could get with the router. I knew the connection would be a little weaker but this was a crazy drop. On top of it taking way to long to even get my net gear router to connect to it, it just wasn’t worth the cost or the headache. And I’ll admit I’m not the best with tech but I can generally figure things out quickly so I can say the connecting part may be on me but the fact it dropped the speeds to less than 20 mbps from the 400 the router pushes to that part of the house is just crazy to me and it constantly disconnected I got a refund for it. Hopefully other people had better luck than I did.

I bought this a week ago and it wouldn't connect to the 5G band nor the internet through my Netgear RAX35 router. It merges with my SSID, but then has no internet access. After 3 hours of research, I opened a case with Netgear. After another hour on the phone with support, they said the extender was bad and to exchange it. The second one won't connect to the internet either. One would think that a Netgear WiFi 6 extender would easily connect to a Netgear WiFi 6 router. I'll stick with using an old router as an access point with a different SSID. I've always used Netgear products, but may look at other brands now.

It really does extend range nicely and works 99% of the time. The problem is, now we routinely get kicked out of connections several times a day all throughout the house, even where signal strength was good before, which is fairly annoying and makes the device pretty much useless. I've tried all settings but no luck. BTW I have ATT Gigapower 1 GB fiber & router. Tried returning it to no avail and now have to claim a warranty event with Netgear, all pretty lame.

After 3 months of owning this device it stopped reading the 5g network. Every other device reads my networks just fine, except this extender. I called Netgear Tech support and they said I had to pay $50 for a service plan. Buy someone elses product, there support is horrible for only owning it for 3 months. I will state, it worked great for those 3 months!

So disappointed, from the time I opened it until I was ready to return it. There are no instructions, just a note to download an app and follow set up. The app wasn't always clear as to what I needed to do, I could never tell if it was truly extending my wifi or if my cameras were still trying to connect to my router. I also had many issues with connectivity for all of my other devices once the extender was set up. I had my son come over to check set up (he works in IT) and he said it looked correct, but wasn't thriled with the performance, or lack thereof. We decided it'd be best to return it, however I discovered that I was outside of the 15 day return period. What happened to 30 days?? I will think twice before purchasing here again.

The extender was reasonably easy to set up and roughly doubled the WiFi speed at my ROKU's, which are on a different floor than the router. Unfortunately, a couple of days later, WIFI went down in my house which of course I blamed on FIOS. A couple of hours into the stoppage I checked with my neighbor next door who had no internet issues. At this time I noted that the 4th light from the top on the extender was out, indicating that the extender had unhooked itself from the local WiFi. So I unplugged the extender and lo and behold, WiFi came back up. The extender had somehow killed WiFi throughout my house. I tried to reset the extender, but it would not reset. The extender will get returned tomorrow for a refund.

I'm not a genius, I'm not an IT person, but I'm not a dummy either. I tried following the directions with this, I went online and looked for assistance and still couldn't figure out how to get it to work. I finally gave up and purchased something from the same manufacturer but cost a little less and had much better reviews. Upon setting that up, our internet had been successfully extended throughout the house and we had no issues. The Netgear extender that I bought is a smaller white extender. It plugs directly into a socket and has an antenna on either side. As I said, it is less expensive and it was very easy to set up. If I could remember the name of it right now I would let everyone know. Sorry.

I wanted to like both this one and the AX6000 but both failed for me. I have a just under 3000 square foot house with a metal roof. I wanted better wifi in my master and needed ethernet ports as well. However once I plugged this in speeds were compromised, machines in different rooms were connecting and had reduced speeds, it became a mess. IMO if you get the super awesome and beastly AX11000 its better to just use it alone. If you need a true wide spread mesh system go with Orbi or similar. All my problems go away when I just use the AX11000 alone. I was hoping either this or the AX6000 would just "assist". In the end they were just not needed. The speeds shown in the status dashboard that show the connection with the router were significantly off with what they were providing attached devices. For example, a laptop connected to the 5Ghz band directly to the AX11000 was basically maxing out at 300mbps and when I conencted it to the extender (both the AX6000 and AX1800) the speeds were significantly lower. Anyways I feel that if you need Mesh go with an out of the box Mesh system, don't try to build one.

DO NOT BUY! This thing does what’s supposed to do. However, mine stopped working over time. The 2.4Ghz and the 5Ghz frquencies are very slow compared to the ones that my router provides. You can reuse the same name and password as your router, which is what makes this somewhat interesting. That said, the devices will pick the closest signal and may not behave as expected for this same reason. I would advise that you save your money and move your router to a better spot and configure it to possibly increase the range of you 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz instead. This is a waste of time and money.

I’ve never had any connection issues worse than what this product provided me with. It cannot seem to hold a connection to save it’s life. It will just randomly cut out and every device connected to it for an undetermined time. I will not recommend this product to anyone. Actually, I will go out of my way to tell people to not purchase this product.

Worst purchase I ever made. I keep having issues with Netgear and every time I get assistance from their support staff my Wi-Fi gets hacked. The last time some guy was trying to get me to purchase a service for an additional 300.00. Immediately when I declined my WiFi was hacked. Some guys in India told me my internet connection is not secure despite the fact that I have Norton. I thought purchasing the Nighthawk would be better but I ended up with the same issue. Betgear support staff is awful!

This device was fine first few weeks. Then some devices were kicked off my wifi, one week ok - then blocked again. It was an alexa, a phone, the tv- so it definitely wasnt the devices. Unplugged it (after replacing everything else) and - BOOM all devices work again, go figure. WASTE OF MONEY! Only wish i could return, but it is outside of that time frame now that I know the issue and problem.

I bought this to increase the range of our wifi as our kids were starting virtual school. After going through the configuration several times, I could not get this to work.
