Set-up was not easy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works as design, which a lot of other router extenders do as well. My 3 start rating is that it did not meet my expectation around getting it connected to my home network. I had to search multiple forums looking for an answer and none worked. My PC would not recognize the extender. After reading multiple discussions, I was able to figure out that I need to try the setup on different devices until one works. I was finally able to get it working by trying to set it up through my iPhone.

It does what it needs to
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had this extender for a little over a year before I had to replace it. Bummed it didn't last longer. I had one prior that lasted at least 2 years. It worked reasonably well, though it worked best within 20-25 ft of the main modem/wifi. As with any extender, I had to reboot it once every couple of weeks, but that was done simply by unplugging it and then plugging it back in. Would definitely use it again if I need a quick fix.

NOT FOR 5G Spectrum Userss
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is way out of date how are they even allowed to sell this to people with 5g internet connection it only recognizes 2.5 connections. both best buy and netgear should LET you input your carrier and router before they let you purchase this. I have an older one from tplink that didn't work great after spectrum switched all their routers to 5 (removed 2.5) and that one even worked a little better than this. will be returning it (it's also sorta hard to set up, but I guess all extenders are).

Would not waste the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to extend a signal from the second floor Wifi Modem, to the downstairs area and the outside patio. My setup is: StarTech Dual Band Wireless Adapter USB (Dual 5" Antennae, High Output) My wireless adapter alone can pick up two bars from my Wifi Modem, and I get about 20 MPBS stable Download Speed, with 11+MBPS Upload. Now, I didn't have a problem with connection drops etc, I just wanted to extend the range and get higher speeds and more bars. I DID get full bars where I had the extender set up. However, the speed was actually slower going through the extender. I specifically bought this model because it was N compatible and advertised 300MBPS Link Speed. However, no matter what I did, I COULD NOT get it to switch to the 300mbps mode, it stayed on 154mbps. I tried so many work arounds to get it to switch, and it would refuse every time. That is one issue, the next issue is how unreliable this thing is. If you're a gamer, I wouldn't recommend this AT ALL. You get connection drops, lag spikes, etc about every 5 minutes on a bad day, on a good day its about every 20 min. It's so unstable, it just isn't worth it. Bottom Line, I am going to return this product. I will try a different brand, not NETGEAR. It solved my problem by giving me more bars, however if it's incapable of delivering speeds it advertises and drops connection frequently, with only ONE device connected, it's nothing but a $65 paper weight. PASS.
