Excellent Performance and Coverage!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: This router preforms beautifully. I have 200mbps internet service and every single device is rocking out at around 180mbps on wireless speed tests. The coverage area from this router is nearly double that of my former XR500 Nighthawk making the need for possibly getting a mesh setup at this house moot. The DumaOS interface is very good. The visualization of real time performance, device usage, is fascinating to see. This allows you to take steps to set device prioritization. Gaming wise it also has additional features to mitigate attacks, encourage nearby servers for low ping times, and automatically optimizes traffic as needed to ensure reliable connectivity when it matters most. Between all of my phones, laptops, cams, smart plugs, etc I have about 27 devices in my house. This router handles them with ease. We’ve had 5 people streaming / gaming while I was downloading and uploading large files for work. This unit handled it with rock solid reliability and maintained consistent speed. Cons: DumaOS on this router can be slow to load at times and a tad buggy. When this happens, sometimes a device will struggle to connect or suddenly get very sluggish. Rebooting the router fixes this every time. I reached out to support and am told an update is in the works to fix. Since DumaOS is being routinely updated, some quirks are expected. Even so, the fact that these update also fix said quirks and provide new features makes the occasional reboot worth it. Netgear’s Nighthawk series also has an app you can use on your phone to view and make router adjustments as needed. DumaOS also released a smartphone app which gives further functionality. Overall I’d highly recommend this router. I’ve been buying Netgear equipment for many years and they’ve been quite reliable. I’ve also owned Linksys, ASUS, TP-Link, and Ubiquiti wifi routers. Compared similar models from the competition, this unit preforms better for my daily needs and seems like a better value for money in general. In conclusion, yes this router is quite an investment for the average household. But if you are like me and want to “future proof” yourself for a few years while also getting excellent performance, this is the way to go. I’ve gotten just as good if not better performance from this unit vs models that cost $600+

Great router
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We’ve been getting great speeds and whole house coverage with the router. The DumaOS can be a bit daunting to figure out at first but once it’s set up with some help from some vids from Netgear and YouTube it’s dialed in. Getting really low ping playing COD. Great router and got it on sale.

Speed, range, and so many devices
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When my trusty Nighthawk X4S gave up after several good years, I picked up this X1000 AX5400 locally despite a few bad reviews. Very glad I did. Not sure why the other reviewers had issues...was easy to set up and has been working flawlessly ever since. My old router had been struggling to keep up with a larger house and more devices. Set the SSID/password on each band to the old ones and everything connected. This Nighthawk has better range and speed than the last gen, and I haven’t had to reboot it once so far. Hitting above advertised speeds every time I test. Wifi 6 is great—36 attached devices and counting, ready for my PS5! Don’t let the bad reviews scare you, I love this thing.

Good speed, but can be unreliable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this device for a little over a year now, and to be honest it fell short of my expectations. It has the speed capabilities and some visually nice features. However, the Dashboard for it is very slow, if the router reboots the configuration can easily be thrown off from what you set previously. For example, if you add a device manually and give it an assigned IP after you save the config the device will choose to jumble the name up and makes for a very confusing list. You might as well just keep your own separate list to keep track of what is what. Also, often when I have a clear connection on my modem the router's wifi will stop working causing more reboots and delays. Top that off with the fact that it did a factory reset a few times when I rebooted causing the headache of going through full-setup a handful of times. All in all, it has the speed capabilities but its interface and reliability are questionable. I'd say even without ISP outages I still experienced significant down time with this device alone. For the price point of this device, it shouldn't have these issues.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome router. It perfectly balances all the devices in the home really well. I used to have buffering issues when downloading games which caused the tv, phones and tablets to have super slow wifi but this fixed that issue and now it's non existent! Would recommend this to anyone. Also wifi 6 :).

Great router!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great and the setup was easy with the app. I use this router for over 10 device and I haven’t had any issues with connectivity or speed Ron the router side. The added protections that are part of the router are nice for that extra security.

Ridiculously fast. Works great.
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this for about 6 months, after I had fiber installed at my house. Ridiculously fast wifi speeds compared to my old router, regularly get 400+ mbps download and upload. I can be streaming from 6 devices with zero drop in speed and no issues. Range is pretty decent, speed drops the further you get away from it. I haven't setup all the nifty features in it for gaming and streaming, I just wanted something fast. I will say that if you are going to do port forwarding for hosting game servers, I could not get this sorted out even with a family member who works for Netgear. I think this is because of the security measures that Netgear uses for this particular router.

A great router for all your connected needs.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this particular router to replace my aging one as I have faster speeds now and numerous devices as well as some serious onliine gaming with my self and 3 other gamers in the house. This router handles it all with ease. The interface is NetDumaOS and is a massive step up from the original Netgear interface and dare I say on par with better navigation than DDWRT, (if you know, you know) Set-up was a breeze with the Netgear app and everything has worked as it should. Only hiccup I had was a remote management issue, but it may have been user error. I love this router and if you game and have many devices, you will love it too.

Good Overpriced Router With Decent WiFi
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is this a good router? Yes. Does it perform the way it advertises? Mostly. Setting up the AX5400 was breeze and I was up and running within 15 minutes. Initial Ethernet speeds were great without any tweaking. WiFi setup was basic, very basic. No instruction how to combine the two separate WiFi channels - 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into one seamless channel. Because of this, and other minor flaws is why this router doesn't get a perfect rating from me. For example, once the initial setup is complete, if there's a need to go into AX5400 console and change any settings such as changing the wireless band rate from 600 Mbps to 4800 Mbps, it's not so easy to find, no intuitive. Unless your IT person or fluent in networking, whatever the default settings are... they are! Which is my next gripe. The further you get away from router, the drop off rate for the wireless is drastic. For it being the "next generation" of WiFi, it sure doesn't perform like it. At close range - within 50 yards - it's outstanding. However, when you start moving beyond that magic line... watch out. All in all? It's a solid router with a few kinks and way overpriced for what little advancements it offers.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is great! Great gaming router
|Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router definitely makes a difference when it comes to FPS. Will reduce your ping to as low as possible! Setup can be a bit of a challenge because the duma os software acts weird sometimes but once you get it working its amazing!

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I mated this with a netgear cm2050 wireless router. My wifi speeds on my laptop peak around 900mb and i get between 500-700mb on my cell phone wifi signal. Ive got 37 devices connected to my network and this router is piping all of the internet in our home wonderfully.

Great Router wish Dumaos was not as buggy.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Router! At first I tried to set it up with a xfinity gateway but gave me problems.I went out and purchased a stand alone modem and it worked great with no issues. I live in a 3 bedroom home and have the router in the basement.I get pretty good range and speeds through out the whole house. Has all the bells and whistles you need if you a serious gamer. But the dumaos is a tad bit slow.

Fast speeds, slow startup, spotty firmware updates
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast speeds and good coverage for my four story townhouse. At the top level, I have added a Netgear Extender which I can plug home office devices into directly via ethernet cable. The third band allows for a dedicated connection between the extender and router which has kept speeds fast for other devices in my house that are not on the extender network. That said, it does take a while to startup and has randoly randomly twice (I believe when it's automatically updating the firmware). On one occasion it just stopped broadcasting the SSID and did not allow a physical connection via ethernet cable, so I had to factory reset and recreate the SSID. It has worked fine since. Aside from those hiccups, the interface is very user friendly and has a lot of useful features, like setting up and recording regular speed tests and device management so you can see what devices are connecting to the network and using more bandwidth.
