Arguably the best Wi-Fi Mech System

Easily this is the best Wi-Fi system out there. The only system better than this is corporate Wifi Networks. This is bringing corporate/ cellphone tower like connectivity to your home. *** Why did I upgrade from Nighthawk? *** Years ago, I used to be a Linksys fan, and then the support/ equipment start to wane a bit with the Cisco acquisition. That is when I got the first Netgear Nighthawk R7000. 2 years back upgraded to Nighthawk Nighthawk X8 and now to this amazing piece of equipment ... Netgear Orbi AX6000. The router was on the second-floor corner room. My office which was on the first-floor room diagonally away from the router was a dead spot, and so was most of the backyard. The router was great but still had connectivity issues. Also, we upgraded the security system for our home which is a hybrid ADT & Ring and due to the range, there were dead spots or delays in system response. I was also using a Wi-Fi extender, but it is always a nuisance to manage two separate SSIDs or the problem with switching from router to extender with the same SSID because you have to toggle the Wi-Fi on and off for the wireless devices. All this led me to look into a Mesh network. *** Why I chose the (most expensive) Netgear Orbi AC6000? *** Two reasons. First, most of the gear in the wireless mesh systems is designed for a totally wireless home. This means that Router and Satellites will have one or maybe 2 Ethernet ports. Netgear Orbi AX6000, each unit has 4 ethernet ports for in-home (intra-home) networking. This means that if you use switches to connect any wired devices, you can get rid of them. And yes, each unit (Router or Sattelite can be used as a Gigabit Wireless Switch). Yay! Second, this has whopping 6Gbps total throughput, smarts to connect to 2.4GHz or 5GHz, and channels automatically. Not to forget that this is Wi-Fi 6 which should mean I am good for another 3-4 years. The 6Gbps in-home also helps if you have media/ data servers. *** What are some of the Pros? *** - Extreme performance (I have never seen such throughputs to my home). - Simple to set up through the App. - Easy to configure, rename the Router or Satellites to the name of your choice. - Look at Network Map through the App and see which device is connected how (wired/ wireless) to which unit. - Beautifully designed, looks great. I did get the powder-coated metallic wall-mount brackets from that big online merchant and mounted all three units on the wall. *** What are the Cons? *** - No Cons technically. - If you are using laptops that have either older WiFi cards or running old drivers, they will not see your Wi-Fi 6 network. I had to update the driver on one of the machines (the driver was from 2016). After update, it works fine. - The only con I think is a very ... very steep price tag. Two ways to save some money are, + Recycle your old router at your local Best Buy, and get a 15% coupon to buy new equipment. Take your router to the Customer Service desk. They will help you. + Signup for the email newsletter at Netgear.com and you can get a 10% coupon code in the mail to buy directly from them. I still think Best Buy has a better program of 15% discount. *** Final thoughts *** If you can afford this, I would highly recommend this. Otherwise, look for other Netgear Orbi systems - they are much less expensive, have multiple Ethernet ports and you will avoid Wi-Fi 6 connectivity problems. Use Best Buy to again get a 15% further discount on those too.

What an absolutely awesome wifi system. Truly getting the best out of my 1.2GB intranet, with wifi speeds in the 400-600 MBPS range all over the house. Easy setup. Replaced the built in router portion of an xfinity combo modem/router that never gave me any more than 40-60 MBPS at a device. Great Buy

I have never been more impressed with a home networking setup. I upgraded from the previous orbi model with 1 router and 2 additional satellites and have never been able to consistently get the speeds that I am getting now. The setup is very simple, the app is user friendly, and the wireless internet speeds are amazing. I am consistently getting over 900 Mbps on download and upload speeds.

Netgear NightHawk Gaming Router AC3200 was fast. This Orbi 6 Pro mesh 6 router is unbelievable! At least 6 times uploaded speed and 4 times download speed even while running 46 WiFi devices. If you work/school and game from home, same your money this is priced for mega speed. Set up is 30 minutes even with an Orbi satellite in the mix.

Upgrade from Netgear NIGHTHAWK® TRI-BAND AX12 12-STREAM WIFI 6 ROUTER - AX11000 needed an extender so I swapped it with Orbi new set up and it was a super easy install. I have Comcast blast internet and I get 50mbps over advertised speeds great WiFi coverage worth every penny..!!!

If you are in a situation where you cannot run wiring and are in a medium/larger home that is filled with lots of walls, this is the absolute best non-commercial system you can buy. Pros: -SUPER fast speeds. On a Fiber 1000/1000 connection and was able to get up to 850Mbps at the base router, about 600Mbps on the mesh points, all tested using an iPhone 13 Pro Max. I’ve used/tested many brands and this one is cannot be beat outside of buying a much more expensive commercial grade system. -5Ghz dedicated backhaul ensures amazing connection between mesh points and router. Most other systems do NOT have a dedicated backhaul, meaning the mesh points connect using the same channel and frequency as Wi-Fi-devices, meaning this can create slow downs in many situations. -This system penetrates walls better than other systems, but do not expect night and day difference either. -Simple controls and interface -Aesthetically pleasing router and mesh points that can usually blend in most places visually -2.5G WAN port will help support faster speeds when available -House is hurricane proof with lots of concrete and and metal studded walls. This system seems to better penetrate walls vs other systems. -Simple setup. Bridge mode or router mode offer the same performance. Cons: -Price is hard to justify for most. I did it because my house was extremely tough to connect throughout, but it was a fraction of what it would cost to wire the house with Ethernet. -The moment you try to start doing advanced stuff, such as VLAN, IPv6, or parental controls, it becomes extremely buggy. So keep it simple with this system -Hate the cash grab they do from the subscriptions they want you to pay for extra parental controls or internet security. It’s pretty insulting for a system of this price. -VPN Access requires some extra work -While the general interface is good, the app needs further work.

    Great Product! Best Mesh Network

    Posted .

Hey guys this is my review for the Orbi Whole Home Tri-band Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System, I did receive this product from NETGEAR First Look Review Program but that doesn’t mean I’m going to be nice on all key notes of this review. • Setup The setup for these new Orbi Mesh routers was easy as cake, I owned the very first units that NETGEAR release a long time ago and they we’re great products as well but had a few issues that you would notice after a few years of using them but anyways back on topic! The setup like I said easy very easy just plug them in and either use the Orbi app that you can find for Android or IOS and follow the steps that they walk you though or load up the website that is required to setup your product. • Features The best feature that I really enjoy is the new Wi-Fi 6 and the 2.5G Ethernet port or link aggregation on the main unit. I recently upgraded my internet to 700+ with comcast and can reach those speeds very fast with this router and without any noticeable buffering time. Whole home mesh Wi-Fi System is another great feature being able to have your whole house covered without a dead spot within your home and being able to go outside in my very large yard with connection still right outside. • Performance The performance of this unit is great and being able to download at very high speeds with my internet connection is awesome! The units don’t bog down and have stayed up for quite some time. They always get better with system updates from NETGEAR. • Did the product meet my expectations? Dang right they did! I’ve used nothing but NETGEAR products since the beginning pretty much and I’m just in awe every single time NETGEAR comes out with these great products every year! The units are bigger than the previous units that I had but they look beautiful on my desk. • Price-value Now I don’t agree on the $699 price tag that they’re selling these units for and would expect the price of them to go down within the next year or so but if you’re in the market for a whole home mesh network then don’t look away because you cant go wrong here with future proofing yourself. • Would I recommend this product to a family or friend member? Yes! I would recommend anyone that I know of who has a big enough pocketbook to invest into these units! They work wonderfully

Nice set of a mesh router and 2 satellites. Easy to setup and decent speeds. Wish the app was a bit more friendly and had more features like ASUS but it’s functional. You’ll have to do WPS manually from the router or satellite which is very inconvenient. A bit pricey but stable and reliable.

Worked well for about 7 months, this was my second Orbi system. I purchased it because of the mesh security, speeds, and coverage. But as I said it ended up giving me issues for unknown reasons.. Recently upgraded to the Tp 16000 which has capabilities Wifi7 unlike this router. It was very easy to setup and the coverage was pretty superb.

Setup: Setup was a breeze and so easy via downloading the Orbi app. The whole process took me about 15-20 minutes and the firmware has to be updated but it was super easy via my Android phone. Features: I really like the sleek look of the new Orbis with some brushed metal looking trim. The 2 pack was more than enough to cover my entire upstairs and downstairs. I really love the tri-band mesh leveraging the single SSID for my entire house. Having WiFi 6 also ensures that you are future proofing yourself as standards change, Performance: I thought my previous Orbis were fast but this feels significantly faster streaming Netflix and Youtube videos are launched instantly. The range is well beyond my expectations as I have a node in my garage and I swear it reaches 3-4 houses down my street. I also transferred some larger video files to my NAS connected to the Orbi and the data transfer feeds were at least 35% faster than my previous model. Although the pricing is on the higher end of the scale, it is definitely worth it. It has been rock solid for me and the speeds I am seeing thus far has exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for uncompromising performance while future proofing their router purchase.

Using base unit plus two satellites for 7000 sq ft on 3 floors. Set up was easy with Orbi app, about 20 minutes. Great coverage and signal strength, no dead spots. Excellent speed. Pricey, but definitely superior to previous Orbi AC 3000 system.

Upgraded from an old Linksys mesh system since 1 of my 3 nodes died. This 3pc Orbi Netgear mesh system absolutely rocks. Used to average around 300Mbps down & 20Mbps up, but now it's more than 1100Mbps down & over 40 Mbps up. That's with all our phones, Xbox, printers, security system, computers, Ring system, and security cameras tied in! Setup was a breeze and simply followed the instructions on the Orbi app. Not cheap, but quality rarely is.

Very popular mesh home networking has a lot to offer. For performance and future proof with Wi-Fi 6 the speed and coverage area are top notch. Price might be a factor in a decision against other systems on the market, but with most performance tests it comes on the top of many lists. Easy set up with mobile app as well as more advanced web set up makes it recommended list, as long as you can afford it.

So far Orbi has been great! My old router was several years old and could no longer handle all of the devices throughout the house and it didn’t broadcast a signal strong enough to cover all areas of the house. In addition, my house is unique, it has a brick wall running through the middle of it. That definitely blocks WiFi signal. That’s where Orbi has been so incredible. I am fortunate enough to be able to hardwire both of the satellites and finally, there are no dead spots! Another thing I like is that Orbi doesn’t just go out like my old router did. Orbi was super easy to set up with the app. Once that is done, it is super easy to finally be able to see all of the devices on my home network and be able to turn off their access if I ever need to. I have 600 mbps with my ISP and I am routinely getting speeds above that throughout my house. So far, my Orbi AX6000 has been incredible!

I have owned this for just over a week and I couldn't be happier with the speeds I am getting with this 2 node setup! Except my new iPhone, no other devices have Wifi 6 but I am consistently getting great speeds on all devices. This thing can handle 40+ devices with ease with room to grow. I have wifi coverage in places where a 4 node Velop system struggled. Couldn't be happier with my investment.. Pros: 1) Excellent wifi performance in all nooks and corners 2) Easy set up right out of the box 3) Able to handle 40+ devices with potential for more 4) Seamless switching between main and satellite nodes without disconnects Cons: 1) Price - but you get what you paid for 2) iPhone app is very basic - no way to add Static IPs, Access Control schedules etc. 3) Web UI is dated - needs work on ease of use

This is the best network device of any kind. The software is the best I've ever seen. As long as you can read and follow the simplest of directions, this thing is brain-dead simple and blazing fast. It took me less than 30 minutes to set it up, including locating and plugging in the devices. It immediately found all 26 of my wifi devices and connected with them. The setup, the coverage, the speed and the ability to control your system from a phone could not be better.

We began to have problems with our Amazon house brand mesh routers, which were less than a year old, so we decided to try Orbi 850. We were pleasantly surprised at not only the coverage (which completely covers our 3800 sq ft house) but also the impressive speed. I have a 1 gig fiber line, and with the old router, 450-500 mb/s Wi-Fi was the best I got. With the Orbi mesh, I'm routinely 750-850 mb/s over wifi with the same PC in the same location. Also, in addition to the phone-based setup and config, you can also connect to the router (old-school) through a webpage for advanced configuration. Overall, this is a very capable router that takes advantage of the broadband coming into the house. For me, this makes it well worth the cost.

I believe the orbi systems are the best consumer routers out there. I had the Amplifi HD and tried the Amplifi alien, and I was very underwhelmed by both. Good interfaces, and controls, but lackluster performance. The orbi was a breeze to setup; it does all the configurations for you, you just pick a name and password for the network. No deciding which setting is best, the default settings work better than any configuration I got from the Amplifi products. The downside of this, is that there isn't much you can change on the app (I can't even set static IP addresses). I haven't checked, but maybe there's a web client that lets you change more "advanced" settings. My only complaint is that Netgear's greedyness shows a lot. Any orbi system is very expensive, which for the performance alone is worth the asking price, but then lock certain things behind a subscription. If I'm paying hundreds of dollars for a router, I don't think I should have to pay for parental controls. All it seems to let you do is track and limit any device. How is this a service? This should just be a feature of the product. Other products and brands offer more, for way less. The Amour subscription I somewhat get, as it also gives you bit defender for multiple devices. I just feel like a router of this price shouldn't have a bunch of things behind a pay wall. All in all, I think it's a solid product that is worth the hype (and the price).
