You Still Have To Contact Your Internet Company, But It Was Quick And Easy. The Strength Is Equally As Strong Throughout The Two Story House, 2100sq ft. Only One Downside. Just The Main Router Has Extra Ethernet Connections.

Far exceeded my expectations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having a larger home needs greater WiFi coverage and the latest technology of mesh networking, when done correctly, solves this problem. The NETGEAR - Orbi AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System is a shining example of WiFi mesh technology that JUST WORKS. The setup of the system, while taking a bit of time, is relatively simple. The NETGEAR - Orbi AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System uses both bands of 2.4 and 5 ghz to provide wide whole-home coverage at the highest speed possible for each device in your home. I have had several routers and WiFi extenders and NONE of them can hold a candle to the NETGEAR - Orbi AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System. Having the ability to connect to ONE wifi network throughout your whole home is such a breeze and I could not be happier with this device. Stop looking and comparing...your answer is right here. The NETGEAR - Orbi AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System far exceeded my expectations and you will NOT be disappointed.

Not for advanced users
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Orbi system to replace a refurbished TP-Link that seemed to have challenges with the 5Ghz band for whatever reason. My devices would also lose connection to it, and I didn't have confidence in its ability to serve what I needed. I consider myself an advanced user and like to 'tweak' things, but not here. The Orbi has no advanced settings to speak of. You cannot create separate hotspots for 2GHz vs. 5GHz, for example; it transparently handles whatever the connecting device can deal with. This seemed to mostly be a problem with older devices; my old Dropcam Pro showed the same hotspot like 7 seven times, and it didn't matter which one I connected to, but other newer devices only showed one and connected to whatever was the fastest available. Setup was easy as it recognized the satellites immediately. But while you can rename the base unit, you cannot rename the satellites (I think this is a glaring problem. It would be really nice to know which satellite is which, so that when relocating or replacing them, it's easier to troubleshoot.) Signal seems to be weak from the base unit even from a few feet away. The satellites are strong as all get-out though. But the speed...oh my. I have a 400Mbps connection, and until I set this up, I couldn't half tell what I was paying for. Here, you absolutely will feel the speed. The lack of advanced settings is part of the star off. Another part is the lacking physical ports. You only get one and in my opinion that's not enough for a smart home at least. Like in my case I have two devices MINIMUM that are only physical Ethernet; then there are my two game consoles, TV, gaming PC, etc. IT's just lacking, so what I did is disable the 5GHz wireless on the TP-Link and I'm using it as (basically) a switch. Then one of the ports is plugged into the Orbi to give it internet. This setup works fine for now, but I do plan to buy a full-on switch with more ports just for a cleaner setup. The other part of the star off reason is the remote access; it simply doesn't work. When you're not on the home network, it'll say the base unit is disconnected when you know it's not (I have an Arlo system connected to the TP-Link physically which is then connected physically to the Orbi to provide internet. If the Orbi wasn't online, I wouldn't be able to hit the Arlo, but always can without issue. I also have Hue that I can hit without an issue. So no, it's not that the Orbi is offline; the remote access just doesn't work.) So ultimately, if you're just trying to get a really fast, powerful wireless setup in your home, the Orbi will do you perfectly fine and then some. But if you're trying to get something more advanced, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Wow Zowie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Orbi series Tri-Band mesh router with two remote access points is an excellent upgrade in terms of amazing coverage, easy setup and functionality. I recommended, bought, and installed for a neighbor with a 3800 sq. ft. old victorian home with small rooms and numerous thick walls... The kind with chicken wire imbedded in the plaster... Previously they only received coverage in the room where the router was located. Now, 100+ megabits in every remote corner of the three story home, all with a single wifi password. Highly recommended.

Love this router system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was easy to set up and works great! I used to have an Apple Airport extreme, but the newer Mesh systems cover the house nicely. I have listed the best features below. 1. Easy set up and the App for my phone makes it easy to manage 2. The satellites connected automatically. 3. The system has one SSID and switches based on if the device can use 5 or 2.4 GHZ. 4. The router can test your internet speed directly. Highly recommend.

Finally something that covers my whole house
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.et me start with some quick house topography for you. My house as two floors and a basement. Basement: Approximately 1300sq ft First floor: Approximately 1500sq ft Second floor: Approximately 1700sq ft (there is a bonus bedroom above the garage) I have 50Mbps DSL that comes into the office, on the first floor. It's in the corner of the house, very far away from that bonus bedroom. In our old house, we had a TP Link Archer C9. That covered the house well. But with this new house, there were slow downs and dead spots not only. I believe this is not only because the new house is bigger, but also because the new house has full insulation in EVERY wall (even internal), making the signal harder to push through. I eventually added some signal boosters, and that helped, but only a little. So I needed something better. I researched a number of mesh routers, but after I found out about the performance drop for every node (e.g. if you connect direct to the router, you get 100% speed; if you connect to the first mesh node, you get 50% speed; if you connect to the second mesh node, you get 25% speed; etc) I was rethinking my position. I started to look into high powered devices, but didn't really trust that those would solve my problem. Then I found the Orbi. I read a lot of technical details and reviews, and I was sold on the idea of a dedicated wireless backhaul (since I don't have Ethernet to where I need it if I want a wired backhaul). Let me tell you, the reviews are right, this technology works great! After I first opened the router, I upgraded the firmware manually (after that, I have seen automatic firmware updates applied, which is nice!). Then I changed the router to be in Access Point (AP) mode so that it essentially works as an Ethernet switch and wireless access point, without needing to do the heavy lifting of the router duties. I chose this because my DSL modem is also a router (which I have turned off the wifi), and having a router behind a router has caused troubles for me in the past. This works great! Now I have great coverage all over my house. Even in that spare bedroom, I am pulling down 29-32 Mbps (previously, with the range extender, I would get 6-8 down). I can even mow the lawn on the other side of the garage, and I'm still getting a signal that pulls down 16-20 MBps. I can nearly watch a 4k stream out there! There are no dead spots at all in the house. I'm getting the full 48Mbps (this is what I generally see as top speed over Ethernet) in over half the house. And the drop off is not dramatic. t will only drop a few Mbps per room (to the low point in that spare bedroom). The only downside I have encountered so far is the lack of abilities I have when the router is in AP mode. For example I no longer get parental controls. There are many other things disabled (many of which make sense), but some which I would like back (I plan on contacting support, as they seem receptive to adding new abilities via firmware). 1 month in, and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Netgear has finally won me over.

Great Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router to replace my existing AT&T router and WiFi extenders mainly because of switching issues across the house. This router solved the issues while providing better coverage and faster speeds throughout our brick home. Setup was easy and after a few weeks of use, I have no complaints.

What a difference - fantastic product!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded to the Orbi from a centrally placed router in a ~2000 sq ft home and what a difference. I used to be a few rooms over and have little to no connection, or a floor below it and always timing out/losing connection, and this was with a fairly expensive wireless router just 4 years ago. Now I’m getting 230+ mbps on a 300 mbps internet connection and able to use it in my backyard where switching to Cellular was the only way to get on the internet. I didn’t think the difference would be so drastic, but it was well worth the price. Also a great wired router as well for a number of devices plugged into it with an 8-port Gigabit switch. Super simple setup with the app and web based setup, would definitely recommend for anyone.

Good WiFi Mesh System/Value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced an Apple AirPort Extreme with the Orbi Mesh System. Prior to purchasing this particular model (R23W), I called NETGEAR customer service to discuss which Orbi model would be best for my situation. After going through several questions, NETGEAR suggested this model. It was very easy to setup, by just following the on-line instructions/videos. I now have whole home coverage, taking advantage of the 150 mbps from my internet supplier. As we have cut the cord, the Orbi is perfect for streaming TV. As with any system, I would wish that the graphic symbol showing the signal strength for each device would be more accurate on their APP. That being said, this does give us great signal strenghth throughout our house.

One day in & so far it's great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded my modem to a new Netgear CM1000 (I use my own equip rather than rent from xfinity) and picked up this Netgear Orbi router system last night. I don't have a big place but have some dead spots and 10 devices plus kids/gkids visiting with games, streaming, etc. The 2 plug in satellites are prob overkill but perfect for me, and entire install was easy with the app. I was up and running with amazing speed in all rooms. I do wish the base wasn't white, however the plug-in satellites are larger than I thought and the white blends into the wall. On sale, still pricey for me but glad I went for it. Side note - Went to BB near my office and the young sales assoc was determined to talk me out of a "complicated" setup lol, so I went to the BB near my house and gave them the business. Sometimes younger assoc assume we can't possibly understand anything tech-related, and that's insulting. Just because I have a few yrs on me doesn't mean I don't know what I'm doing. <end of rant>

Success!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought our house 11 years ago and have been unable to get a WiFi signal to travel to all the rooms in the house. The salesman at Best Buy knew what he was talking about. I however thought it would be like everything else we have tried. Our house is over 80 years old. When they built it they used the best of everything . This includes heavy stainless steel mesh in the plaster walls. To my surprise ORBI AC2200 works! No matter where I go in the house I have a very strong signal!!! I am sorry I dont have a file to upload

Best wifi I even bought
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this wifi because I have a large house and needed to be able to move from room to room and this wifi works like a cell phone and it follows you so you don’t have to sign off of the main router and sign on to the satellite extension , it dose it automatically for you as if you were changing from cell tower to cell tower without interruption of internet. Best wifi I ever bought. It was worth every penny and it wasn’t that much more for the convenience. Awsome product

Very pleased
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We’d been experiencing all kinds of internet issues for long time so it was time to find something that would work! Don’t have large home but we do have a studio separate from house that we wanted coverage. So, after doing a lot of research this seemed like the solution. It was very easy to set up and coverage is outstanding. After about a week of installing our system went down and took days to get back online..... however I think it was more due to provider ISP. All has been well and am very pleased with purchase.

Best Overall Mesh System
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this set because a relative and I both needed an extra satellite to add to our existing Orbi systems. The set price was better than two satellites purchased alone. Easy to add extra units when needed for additional WIFI coverage. The Orbi system is fast, easy to set up, stable and reliable, When Apple stopped updating and supporting Airports, I needed to find an alternative to update my home WIFI. The Netgear Orbi system was the answer.

Greater coverage
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was having issues with my wifi, I went to best buy for a new router and Logan (I think that was his name) recommended a mesh network based on my square footage. This was an easy install and my wifi is so fast now. My Netflix and Prime no longer buffers and we have about 20+ devices hooked up to our wifi. I went with a 300 mb download speed with ATT and couldn't be more please. This was well worth the money.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Netgear Orbi Wi-Fi Mesh System after returning the Google WiFi mesh system that had issues connecting to my computer. The Netgear worked first time and was very easy to install. I have a 2100 sq ft home and it covers it well. We were having issues with WiFi phone reception in parts of the house. The Netgear fixed that. I have great reception everywhere in the house and maximum internet speed everywhere. It is neat to watch devices move between points when using the app. I would highly recommend this for use in any home.

Works great so far!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have Uverse and were using the at&t modem/router combo. Even for our small 1300 sq ft house, the router part was not working well. Since we cut the cord, we needed something to get a strong signal to the tv in the family room. The Orbi was easy to set up and use. It has worked great so far for our (almost daily) 10-12 devices.
