It'll be Before and After Orbi - Best Mesh/Wi-Fi
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product has restored my faith in Netgear and made me come back, I have been purchasing, configuring and using Routers since the early 90s I have also experimented with range extenders and routers in bridge mode etc through the years, trust me nothing has ever compared to Orbi when it comes to speed and range. It is truly amazing how I get full bars and almost no signal degradation whatsoever in every single room in the house and even outside, the dedicated 5GHz channel that the satellite device uses to communicate with the Orbi router is actually making the big difference here in my opinion, something that ONLY the Orbi has at the time of this review. The first thing you’ll notice when you are getting it setup is how simple it is for the average consumer to get this up and running, basically the system is pre-paired from the factory, the user basically only needs to name their Wi-Fi network and optionally register the product and that’s about it, you’ll be enjoying super-fast Wi-Fi throughout your entire house in no time. The software has been rock solid and stable so far, configuration has all the features that an advanced user would need such as Guest Network, Port Forwarding, Static routers/ IPs etc, it’s all in there with the exception of true QoS (Because there’s some basic sort of version of it included) and being able to name your 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands independently but I’m sure this will also be included in future firmware versions. The system is not without some minor issues though, I ran into a small problem when initially upgrading the software where it could not auto-update on its own, people who purchase this in the near future will not run into this problem as newer units will for sure come with more up to date/improved firmware, early adopters who get it now though (and I recommend you to do so) can just manually update the firmware by downloading it from the Netgear support site then going into the Orbi’s web interface and upgrade it manually. I also wish Netgear would improve their Mobile Apps, the current Android version of the app as of today 12/27/16 (This might not be the case a few months after I write this) is basically only good for setting up the Orbi for the first time, besides that it's virtually useless, also the Netgear Genie app for the PC is so dated, it really needs a facelift and I was disturbed to see that it has not changed GUI wise since the last time I had tried it like 5 years ago, after installing it I immediately removed it, it is really not good at all. Before having this up and running I was afraid I would need to purchase a second satellite because of the size of my home, no need at all, in fact I was able to get rid of two range extenders while still having full bars/speed in my entire house with just the main unit and the one included satellite that came included with the package, awesomeness! My home is totally made out of bricks and this is the first system that gives me consistent 90/MBps down 12MBps Up ALL the way from the front of the house to the backyard, I'm talking Internet speeds (which is more than what I pay Comcast for) the actual transfer speeds between devices is much more greater than that, I tell you try Orbi if you haven't yet and see for yourself, if you don't like it you can always return it, nothing to lose.

Awesome Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product in an attempt to increase the Wifi speeds and coverage in my house. This product exceeded my expectations. My house went from barely getting speeds of 50mbps to speeds of above 700mbps. And these speeds are constant throughout my house with a much more stable connection. I used to have to constantly use my mobile data connection in my bedroom because the Wifi was so bad but now I never have to use mobile data while I'm home. As far as setup goes, I have a Comcast cable modem/router all in one setup. I had to disable the routing functions on the cable modem and after that just connect the Orbi to the modem. Works flawlessly now.

Blazing Fast & Strong Signal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a solution to fix my poor internet speeds and coverage from my Apple Airport Extreme and Airport Extender. I would only get 15/10 speeds even when standing right next to the router. Those days are over. It took me maybe 20 minutes to set this Orbi system up. Everything went smoothly as instructed. The two units are pretty heavy and seem very well built. My only complaint is they have a narrow oval shape so they can tip very easily if bumped (I have a 2 year old) so I put them out of reach. My whole house now receives the same speed, no matter where I am. I have a 2000 sqft long and skinny home. I have the main router in the far forward bedroom upstairs and the satellite unit in the far back living room downstairs. I didn't think they would sync that far but I figured why not try so I could use an Ethernet cable (from the satellite unit) to my 4k Samsung and playstation in the living room. I was wrong and it had 100% signal. I was shocked! Now for the speed...I will let the attached photo of the speed test on my iPhone 6 show you the results. I'm getting these speeds everywhere in the house! Incredible product worth every penny.

GREAT WIFI ROUTERS!
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these for my new home. It a townhouse built around 1980's and has really thick walls. I had a previous version that had a router and the satellite was a "plug-in" when I was still living at my mom's house but I couldn't get it to work. It dropped the wifi and every device was connected to the wifi and Netgear doesn't have a dedicated support line and the people you speak to are Indian's that have really heavy accents and you can't understand a word coming out their mouth. I'm an immigrant, I came here when I was 7 but I'm as Americanised is possible. I still speak Mandarin and I don't speak my native tongue or English with an accent. The original set that I bought worked for about 2yrs or so and then something happened and I couldn't get them to bridge off the supplied router from Verizon. I always got great speeds with the Orbi routers so I decided to stay put and by a new one bc those Indian's made me so mad. I asked for general assistance and bc it was out of their 1 yr warranty they wanted to charge me $100 for the call and they wanted payment before even trying to assist me. The whole kit only cost $300 at best with these so I was paying 1/3 the price for old equipment that I couldn't get to work? It made no sense so I went to local Best Buy and bought this bad boy and then I had no problems installing it and had it up and running in less than 20 minutes. The speed I was getting was crazy, I was paying for 100/100 but I was getting 200/200+ at $39.99 and I did not have to purchase a Fios router. I was able to use my Orbi router and the guy who installed it was able to get it to work with no problems. Since before the CV I called in to Verizon and got my plan upgraded to 200/200mbps and I'm consistently getting 300/300+ speeds-see photo. I am working from home and I have my main router in the laundry room basement and the satellite in the master bedroom and I'm getting these crazy speeds but there's no way I would get these speeds if I used a Fios Router. I am attached to my satellite via ethernet cable and I have no dropped signal once. Not once! I am dependent on the routers to do their job bc without them I can't wfh. I'm glad I have these router.

Exactly as advertised: the best mesh wifi around
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been studying the mesh wifi market for about a year to add one to my 3000+ sqft house. It's older, so we've had a hard time with signals weakening through walls and on across levels. A friend in a similar situation purchased Orbi about a year ago, and he has raved since. Being a Googler, I really wanted Google Wifi to be better, but after reading reviews, researching latency tests, it was down to Orbi and eero. Orbi won on price and higher reviews, so I pulled the trigger on Black Friday, and I couldn't be happier. For the first time, we are getting the most out of our Fios service. Setup was also quite simple. Not perfect, but if you read how to connect Fios and Orbi on Netgear's site, it's very clear. Took about 10 minutes, and everything was perfect. I am 100% percent satisfied, and I believe any buyer will be too. Mesh networking for a connected household is a game-changer...

Wonderful Orbi!
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had these for a couple years now and have to say I am very impressed! After getting used to setting it up, it’s easy to reset and update. The app is easy to use once you learn the set up. My connection is good enough with only the main router and with the extender unplugged.

||Posted . worth the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Short: went from 10mbps to 287mbps with a snap - The Long: a friend recommended the orbi system, I was using the default wifi that came with xfinity and had to regularly call them to have them reboot or restart the modem, not cool when it's in the middle of watching a movie!!! not only that, but my kids were always complaining about slow or no service, the wifi didn't reach their room, or it was just too slow, so they'd turn off the wifi on their device and BAM, then we go over the data limits and pay an outrageous mobile phone bill! well, I put these things in and all that went away, I have a 3031sq ft house and this thing nails it, no problem - speed is awesome, SHD/4K movies stream no problem, makes the pic so much better, before the image would get pixelated because of the bad service, and now it's flawless - streaming is a dream - get the orbi system - it also works with alexa, she can manage guest access!

Excellent Router
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.By far the best router system on the market. My home is 2700 square ft. on the main floor and 2700 square ft. basement. 10 ft. from my home is my 30 x 40 car garage and attached to it is my 40 X 70 workshop. Outside and behind my home 100 ft. is a 24 x 24 log cabin. I have the base orbi router in the office on one end of my home, a extender orbi mid way in the home, a extender outside orbi extender on the back deck, and one orbi extender in each garage. Orbi says you can not add that many extenders but mine works perfect. I am never without internet in any of these areas. I have a phantom 4 drone that I am able to live stream outside the house and have WiFi at least 50 ft. from the orbi's inside the house and 100 ft. from the outside orbi and around the cabin. In conclusion this is the very best of luck he best, easy to set up and if you don't understand the people at orbi are really good to help out.

Well worth the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This past weekend i purchased the Netgear Orbi system. The best purchase for my wifi. It does exactly what it is advertised to do. deliver fast network speed throughout my home. I used to have two routers on separate ends of my home to cover my 2100 sqft house, but i hated having to manually switch between wifi networks just for a signal when im on one side of the house. This eliminates all of my headaches. The main router is in the living room, the satellite is in my Bedroom. The system is advertised to cover up to 400sqft, so my 2100sqft is more than covered. As a matter of fact in my front and back yard i have strong signals too. Everything is one network, and it also have a guest network as well. Extra convenient. Performance wise, this device can handle the demands of streaming and managing multiple clients without a hitch. I currently have 12 devices connected to it, two are strictly for streaming media. No buffering at all. This is the performance i wanted in my home and the Orbi system delivered.

Great Whole House WiFi Coverage with ORBI
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this whole-house mesh system to replace an old Linksys Router that was not giving us adequate WiFi coverage in our 2500 + SQ ft, 2-story home. This model was recommended by the Best Buy Greek because each unit had a wider coverage range than other brands. It was the easiest Router install I've ever done. Simply plugged it in, answered a few online questions, paired the Satellite unit and placed it downstairs where we need better coverage. Internet signal is now stronger and coverage is great. We are streaming movies, which we were previously unable to do due to week signal. You can control it with an easy to use mobile phone app. Highly recommend.

Fast and better coverage

Great coverage and great speed!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Given the few negative reviews I was very skeptical about this product. However, this is definitely the fastest, easiest to install (5 mins!!) and most comprehensive in terms of coverage, wifi solution I've ever had. This works great for my built in 2019, 3,800 sqft, two story brick house - I get great signal strength even in the backyard! The app is not great but the web portal allows you to do everything that you can do with just about any other wireless router.

Excellent choice for Wi-fi!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Netgear Orbi High-Performance AC3000 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System is certainly worth the money. In my single-user close-proximity (same-room) tests, the Orbi router scored 480Mbps, and the satellite 470Mbps. At a distance of 30 feet, the Orbi router scored 223Mbps, and the satellite scored 220Mbps. If you want more control over your network, the Advanced tab takes you to an Advanced Security section, where you can set up Parental Controls to block access to websites, restrict access to users, and have email alerts sent when someone tries to access a blocked site. You can also access Advanced Wireless settings that let you adjust transmit power, enable beamforming and MU-MIMO, use the router as an access point, and configure things like Static Routing, VPN Service, and Port Forwarding. Included in the Advanced settings is a Traffic Meter that lets you view Internet traffic statistics and place limits on monthly upload and download capacities. When the meter sees that it has reached its threshold, you can have it shut down Internet access to all clients. You can also use Advanced settings to configure things like IPv6 tunneling, view system logs, and update the router's firmware. One of the cons of the Netgear Orbi AC3000 is the lack of USB ports. However, I have not found this to be a problem.

Crappy App & Interface, Decent Hardware.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The mesh Netgear Orbi router has been great. Very reliable so far. The issue is their horrible app. It’s clunky, they bombard you to subscribe to their crappy security malware protection garbage. I just paid over $200 for a router, why would I then want to pay another subscription. Of course you have to call to cancel if you do sign up so you probably have to wait a long time to get to a representative or they hang the phone up on you or they try to upsell you up eventually from canceling. I’ve seen this shady tactic, time & time again. Shady business practices Netgear. Even though the hardware is good, based on the software, I’m going to have to say pass on this router. Look elsewhere.

Random disconnects that will irritate.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I guess I’m adding to the negative comments. Didn’t believe them but we are also experiencing random WiFi disconnects. Sometimes it’ll reconnect; other times I’ll unplug or power down the main router. Connection speed is now good throughout our house - poor WiFi coverage was the main reason for this purchase and I didn’t want to continue with the WiFi extender I used to use. I originally had the Apple airport with Apple express extender and never had disconnects just not enough coverage or speed. Tried one of those 6 antenna spaceship looking routers (sorry don’t remember name but it’s one of the latest) - returned that because I had to manually switch between 5g and 2g coverage. Then went to a mesh but I guess this system is not a real mesh because it only has the router and one satellite. I’m considering returning but am hesitant because our security system cameras had to be reset by a technician. And with about 17 devices connected to WiFi - its a real hassle to reconnect to a new WiFi system and enter all the new passwords. We need WiFi constantly up when we use it during work meetings!!! Maybe next time I’ll have to get a “professional” in to set up our system!!?? I use Spectrum ultra 500mb service.

Far better than I expected!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical that the mesh router and satellite would really improve my network performance. Boy was I wrong! My internet connection is supposed to be 600 mbps. However, the best my old TP-Link, Linksys or DLink routers (I've tried them all) could do was around 400mbps when hardwired, and 120mbps when on wireless. I knew I could go faster since connecting directly to the Xfinity router is much faster. (I would use the Xfinity router alone, but I need more control over port forwarding and more coverage of my house.) So after installing the new Orbi router and satellite, to my surprise, I'm now getting over 700 mbps hardwired and close to 400 mbps wireless. Needless to say, I'm very pleased. Setup was a breeze and I have a LOT of devices connected to it. (5 smart TVs, 8 laptops, 1 server with 10 VMs, 3 tablets, and two Echo dots.) I would highly recommend the Orbi!
