Customers are saying

Customers admire the D3200 DSLR Camera for its user-friendly design, capturing high-quality images, and being an ideal choice for beginners. While some users have concerns about the autofocus speed, the camera's compact size, noise levels at higher ISO settings, and battery life, many find the overall value and photo quality to be worth the trade-offs.

I love this camera. It is a little expensive but you're purchasing a professional camera. It is very easy to use and if you get the guarantee you can bring it into Best Buy and they will replace it if anything happens. I had a smudge on the inside of my viewfinder about 3 weeks after I purchased it and I went in and they gave me a whole new camera. It's also very light!

Short Review: Buy this camera now! Long Review: This camera has the essentials especially for the beginner. It is all you need really. At this price you can get some good lenses and it won't even matter that you have a cheap camera.

I bought this camera to use for my blog. It was very easy to use considering I am a novice when it comes to photography. I got the red just for fun and absolutely love it. Even on the auto setting it provides gorgeous photos.

First time DSLR user, no previous knowledge of them and I'm in love in under a day! I did massive research before purchasing this camera and everything I read gave it rave reviews so I thought I'd give it a try! Well worth the $$! Pictures are crisp and clear and there are so many features I have yet to learn!

Such a great camera. Very easy to use. Can't wait to learn how to use the manual settings. The automatic settings are great though. Takes great pictures! Couldn't be happier with my purchase of this camera.

I'm just getting into photography, and I'm coming off using a Sony HX100 , so I'm familiar with using the manual settings, but this camera offers much greater range. I also love being able to swap out lenses for the right shot. If you're thinking about getting into using an SLR, definitely look at this. With 24.2 megapixels, you can take huge photos that are much easier to work with in Photoshop and other digital imaging software. It also comes with a manual that shows you how to use everything, and even has a nice Guide option on the dial that will help guide you through getting the shot that you want, making learning a lot easier. The 18-55mm lens that comes with the camera is very good as well, but seeing as how it is a small lens, you will probably want to consider getting another, bigger one for better zoom, like a 55-200mm or 55-300mm (which is what I got). Overall, this is a great camera, and is definitely one a beginner to SLRs should consider.

Nothing is perfect, so I'm giving this camera 4 out of 5 stars. I got it in a bundle deal and it was worth every penny. I use it so much. It's user friendly, even for a beginning armature photographer like me.

I am an amateur photo taker, and I bought this camera to upgrade from an 8mpx Pentax DSLR (which I loved). So far I am thrilled with my Nikon D3200; it has been easy to migrate too from my previous DSLR, and the quality of photos and videos has been great. Still learning some of the features, but even someone with no previous SLR experience could use this camera, as the Auto settings are sufficient in most situations. If you are looking for something that is as easy to use as a point and click but want the functionality of an SLR this camera fits the bill.

Very Good Camera, with good inbuilt features. I was accompanied by an experienced bird photographer and we took turns with the camera. Both made the following observations: From the angle of experienced Nikon users, this camera offers everything in terms of menus and dials to set the camera up the way one is used to from D90, D7000, D300s level cameras. This came as a surprise, as the D3200 does not have the front dial that we both were used to and familiar with. Nikon has done an surprisingly good job in making the menus very easy to access and after a short while, we where entirely concentrated on the shoot and only occasionally reminding ourself that this was "only" an entry-level DSLR. At the same time, we were impressed how nice the software is tailored to the needs of a potential beginner, gently guiding him towards to goal of making better photos along the way. The LCD screen on the back is a huge step forward from previous models, as it allowed to effortless pre-screen the shots taken. I was even carrying a laptop computer to better inspect the initial images, but after a short while we only resorted the the built-in screen.

This was bought as a graduation gift and it could not have been any better gift or purchase. The camera itself was so easy to learn. Not something that would cause frustration. Everything is user friendly for the beginner or even someone with experience. I would recommend this camera to anyone who asks me. And when possible buy the bundle. That was the greatest deal of all

I love this camera! My husband and I went back and forth whether to purchase this one or to spend the extra $250 on the 5200. The major difference is the screen on the 5200 is movable (so you can flip it around for self portraits for example). Otherwise, after doing a lot of research I found that there is no major difference that will affect the quality of photos and so if you do not plan to use the movable screen I would recommend opting for the 3200 and saving yourself a pretty penny. I would; however, recommend purchasing the 55-200mm lens to go with the camera otherwise you will not be able to take very detailed photos from a distance. A lot of the time you can get a good discount by purchasing the camera and the additional lens at the same time. We chose not to do so and now I wish we had.

So far I love it. I'm a novice when it comes to taking pictures, so the auto feature is great. One of my neighbors has the 3100, so he was able to show me quite a bit about the camera that i would have otherwise not known. Once he pointed a few things out to me, my manual pictures are starting to turn out a lot better. I don't know enough about it to point out any negative features, but so far i have been very impressed. I can't wait to go shoot some deer with it! I went to an airshow the first weekend after purchasing, and even at a pretty good distance the planes look pretty crisp. The pictures per second is fast enough that it almost looks like a video in rapid succession. The kit lens is not a bad lens, it is just designed for a broad range of pictures. This is a perfect camera for a beginner to learn photography. Also, I read some reviews where people mentioned poor battery life. I must say that I have not noticed this. I charged it up the first day, and I've taken well over 1000 pictures while playing with the different settings and turning it off and on again and I haven't had to charge it again yet. I've had the camera for little over a month. I gave it a 4 for Ease of use because of the many options. It can be a bit challenging getting the settings right for an amateur. I was tempted to give it a 4 on value just because it is so expensive, but there are a lot of *higher end* cameras that cost a lot more that do the same thing. So it's a good buy for what you get.

Good camera for beginners, but there are issues

Very small and lightweight camera body. Seems to work with all Nikon "latest" lenses. I have several older autofocus lenses that do not work with this camera. So check out those older lenses with this camera before you buy. Read the manual, there are several issues that "happen" when using this camera that you will need the manual to clear up. This happens when you inadvertently change the settings which can be easily done on this and other Nikon cameras. While not serious they can be annoying. Most are covered in the manual. Also, if you are using off-brand batteries, be careful about updating the firmware. Nikon firmware doesn't like non-Nikon batteries and if you upgrade to newer versions of the firmware, your off-brand batteries may not work. And you cannot, repeat, CANNOT revert to older versions of the firmware once you upgrade. Search the web on this issue -- this may change, but I doubt it. Still its a good camera, just read the manual and keep it handy.
