If you're looking for the next generation of gaming graphics card, this is it. If you're playing at 1080p resolution or lower, on a single screen I would recommend the GTX 1070. But for 1440P up to 4K, this card handles games very well. It runs silent, it is power efficient, and we'll worth the price tag.

I bought the 1080 for the explicit purpose of creating a virtual reality ready machine. I have not yet bought a VR headset, but this GPU has allowed me to run everything with the highest visual settings without sacrificing performance. My only complaint is the single HDMI port. Most of the ports are Display Ports but with an HDMI/Display Port adapter (which was reasonably priced at Best Buy) all my monitors have worked well. There are other 1080s with moderately better performance, but this one is worth the money.

What is there to say? The card performs great. I can play every game I own with the settings turned all the way up, and I get great frame rates all the time. I also love the glowing GEFORCE GTX logo on the side. Founders Edition cards are my favorite.

I started purchasing 1070s to build a mining rig. My second unit I started building with 1080s. Once they became difficult to court, I began mixing video cards as seen.

Running 2 cards in SLI mode for 3 Dell 27" 4K minitors and they run great. Only better option would be to buy the new 1080 Ti model (adds a little more memory & Cuda core performance notched up a bit). Anyone building a multiple GPU rig knows these are a no brainer. Hope this helps.

The Pinnacle of Gaming Graphics Performance

I've spent many years using the major performers from both AMD and NVidia, and find that my current allegiance is to NVidia. I've never been one to fanboy one side or the other, generally picking the best price/performance ratio for the specific need. That said, NVidia currently retains the gaming performance crown, and the GTX 1080 is the pinnacle of that performance. Based on the new NVidia Pascal architecture, this card pushes the performance envelope more than any previous generation at lower power requirements. The downside is the price. To be part of this generation of high-end cards, you will pay a pretty penny. That said, this card is capable of silky-smooth VR performance through either of the major VR headsets, it runs almost all games at 4K resolution without breaking a sweat, and does so while looking amazing. I personally have this paired with an i7-4770k, 32GB of RAM and 2TB of SSD space to really take as much advantage of the power as possible. And let me tell you, this card delivers. Having come from a GTX 780, the difference in fidelity is amazing, I've been able to increase the graphics settings in all of my games, and the results are beautiful. I run at-or-near 60 fps consistently on my 4K monitor and I'm enjoying every minute of it. The drivers are mature and the new Geforce Experience 3.0 allows more granular control over the various settings of your games. Pros: Highest performing single graphics card currently 8GB of GDDR5X memory Mature drivers Cons: Very expensive

2 of these SLI'd totally kills the 2 way SLI EVGA GTX 980TI KPE Classy's, every bench nearly maxed. Highest fps I've ever had. I have a very powerful system these cards added to it is icing on the cake. VR gaming stable at 90 fps, even FO4 in the city 92 fps, 120 - 140 fps everywhere else (fps locked at 140) 220 mods including ENB , 3D mark TIMESPY 99%!!!, With the 2 way SLI EBGA GTX 980TI kpe classy's evry game ultra settings, with these two cards I wish there were higher settings...

Listen up friends, this here card is worth your hard earned cash. There were times when I told myself that playing the lowest settings was definitely "meta" but I knew I was lying to myself. Somewhere deep in my darkened heart, I knew there was a strong desire to indulge in the life of the highest quality gaming. It was time. Once I purchased this card, I knew what had to be done. I played as many games as I could on the highest graphics settings and not even the slightest sign of weakness was shown from my new card; his green glow of confidence just shining through my cheap case like it was eating only an appetizer before a full four course meal. I have tried to run this thing into the ground and not even a hum has been returned. If you are reading this, its meant for you... Its your turn to let loose and buy yourself a card worthy of your time. Well, I had better get back to my card now... As they always say, "adios muchachos!"

Before I get into the nitty gritty, I'll just start off with a summary: this thing is wicked awesome! At first, I was pretty wary of grabbing a Founder's Edition. I read some pretty gnarly reviews when it first came out that it had some pretty glaring heat issues. I'm not really sure what that was all about, or maybe these cards are just updated versions with better cooling, but this thing really doesn't get that hot by most standards. I stress tested it on day one for about 30 mins and it hardly got over 75 C during the test. Mind you, this is sunny southern Cali in the summer heat. My apartment sits at about 78 F ambient temps. Anyway! This thing really is great. I run everything at 2560x1440 and it devastates every game I've thrown at it, maxed out. Crysis 3, Mass Effect Andromeda, Mafia III, Fallout 4, etc. Games hardly ever got below 60FPS and when they did, it was only when things got really intense. It's also important to note that not all games are optimized and a lot of the frame loss you see could be due to not having proper support for multi-threaded CPUs. I've seen games that get below 60FPS but my GPU usage isn't even maxed, which was enough for me to realize it was no fault of my graphics card. Honestly, if you've ever been hesitant about getting one of these, I'd put all that to rest. If you have the money, and don't want to deal with trying to find those aftermarket cards (thanks a lot, crypto-miners) go ahead and buy with confidence on this one. When it comes to gaming, this thing is probably more than you need unless you rock 4K. Then you might wanna just snag a 1080 Ti if you've got loads of disposable income lying around.

The Geforce GTX 1080 is the creme de la creme of consumer grade performance graphics cards, but this will come at a price. Currently the leader in single-chip/single-card high-end cards, this graphics card will allow you to run all current and many future games for years to come at ultra-high detail settings at 1080p. Many current games run at 4k also with ultra-high. I purchased this card because it is natively capable of outputting 4k resolutions with its HDMI 2.0 port to my 4k monitor without any issues. In addition, it can drive that resolution with excellent levels of detail. The only real downside I see to this card is the price. It will take a significant investment to buy-in to the performance levels this card can offer, even more so if you choose to SLI it with another one. That said, if you're in the position to purchase this card, it is definitely worth it.

Pros:!Elite Dangerous in 4K, almost in Ultra settings is amazing... and in my i7 Dell it maintains over 70fps in 4K... I had a 1070 and while it looked nice, it didn’t run the game well enough at 4K to keep me immersed. This card is great for it. Just make sure you have the room and the power supply for it.

I bought this in 2018 to upgrade from my GeForce GTX 970. At the time, I was lucky to find this for the price I did. It is now 2021 and it is still going strong. I don't use it for cryptocurrency mining. I use it for gaming. It gets used daily for gaming and HD video streaming. The installation was simple and Nvidia does a good job at keeping their software up to date. At the time of this writing, drivers are still being updated for it, even though there are newer graphics cards out there. I've never had any problems with it overheating, although I haven't tried to overclock it. It will need a separate power connector. It uses the 8 pin PCI-E power connector that should be available on any modern power supply unit. I've got a 750W PSU in my system and I haven't had any power problems. Pros: Simple install Drivers still being updated and can be easily installed with GeForce Experience or manually Cons: Doesn't do RTX/ray tracing It isn't the TI model Overall: For having this in my system running pretty much all day, every day it is still going strong. I've had other video cards die on me in less time. I'm definitely pleased with it. If you don't have something in the higher RTX series and can find this at a reasonable price, it's not a bad upgrade from a GTX 900 or lower series.

I love my 1080. Been wanting to upgrade cards for a while and couldn't pass this up. Yes, it's expensive. But it's the best there is, barring the TI, which isn't worth the extra money imo. I can play just about any game on max settings with 60+ fps. Oftentimes 100+.

This card is one of the most powerful cards to date. On most games running DX11 I get 100+ fps. I don't play too many recent games like Witcher 3, Farcry, etc, butI do get pretty good fps on the highest settings for the ones that I do play. At one point I was running two of these bad boys in my system and they didn't run as great as I thought they were going to. I think I got like an extra 15-20 fps on most game (some did get better). Not worth the extra $700 for such a small improvement. I overclocked these things also, and I don't think the FE versions of the card are the best overclocking cards because these things get hot even with the fans running at 100% (but now they are too loud). I tried gaming for about 8 hours to see how long these guys would last before fps started to drop. Not only did fps start to drop after 8 hours there were a lot of artifacts and discoloration appearing in games, but at least now I know how long one of these cards can run before I have to shut off my pc. Overall this card does well enough for what I want, but the price is steep for two of these. I'm going to try one of these from EVGA, MSI or ASUS and see how they run compared to the FE (yes I know there are a lot of benchmarks out there on youtube, but I like to run them myself).

Got this to play games in 1440p and some 4k gaming. Beast of a card, and is likely to last a long time. Would most likely recommend the 1070ti or 1070 for most people, but the 1080 is great nonetheless. The founder's edition cooler is ok as long as you have MSI afterburner to set a decent curve. The reason I would not recommend this to a friend is because it is simply a very expensive and powerful card that exceeds what most people would need. A 1070ti or AMD Vega 56 serves the same function but is cheaper and would recommend that over the 1080.
