If you honestly don't know or care what the difference is between something blended on '3' vs something blended on '5' with one of those fancy multi-speed/multi-program food processors, or you just need your ingredients pulverized or liquefied so you can get on with your life, this is a great blender for you. The 800 watt motor offers reasonably powerful blending capability though the entire unit is a bit on the lighter side--ours danced around the countertop just a bit during the smoothie cycle, and slowly skittered across the surface when left on continuous blend. The four blending blades are arranged in opposing pairs (2 up/2 down) and did a great job chewing through ice and solidly frozen fruits without needing to run for minutes on end to get after the last little chunks and hunks. Controls and readouts are mercifully simple; a power button glows blue when the unit is turned on, and another indicator glows blue when one of the auto-program cycles are running. There are buttons for three constant speed settings: low, medium, and high; and a pulse button for when a constant blend setting would just leave your ingredients spinning wildly above the blades. The blender also features two auto-program buttons, one for a smoothie and one for salsas, each of which offers automatic blend cycles that combine various combinations of blade speed and spin duration to mix the ingredients, let them settle in the container briefly, then restart to chop/blend some more. Note that the cycles don't stop automatically so it's not a completely unattended affair--the smoothie cycle, for instance, pulsed for a bit, stopped, pulsed a bit longer, stopped, pulsed once again, then spun up to a constant blend until we had to manually stop the motor with the power button. The 6 cup pitcher is glass rather than plastic and has some reassuring heft to it. It is dramatically tapered at the bottom to help ensure that all the ingredients eventually meet their doom at the hands of the spinning blades at the bottom. A center-feed cap in the lid also allows you to add ingredients while the blender is running. The included 20oz Blend-n-Go tumbler is just slightly translucent (rather than crystal clear) plastic; it's pretty standard fare, though I'm not entirely wild about the design. The tumbler's mouth is significantly smaller than its very wide and very flat shoulders, which means cleanup is slightly more of a challenge because you have to bend a brush or sponge around the inside of the mouth to fully clean all the interior surfaces. Once the tumbler's flip-top is in place, the opening is really only designed for a straw because it's too small for anything but very VERY thin liquids to be getting through on their own...trying to coax a thicker smoothie out through such a small opening using gravity alone is an exercise in futility. Note that the entire top, rather than a smaller flip-up seal just large enough to cover the opening for the straw, flips open--this makes the tumbler a little awkward to tote around because you've always got this massive black flip-top hanging open and out beyond the edges of the lid. The only other design issue of note is that unlike many other modern blenders we've used, this one separates the jar nut, blade assembly, and sealing ring into three separate pieces. I'm not entirely sure what prompted this decision because it makes for more parts to keep track of during cleanup and assembly, and it's definitely a little more awkward when removing the jar nut, blending blades, and the sealing ring separately from the Blend-and-Go tumbler after flipping it back over so you can screw on the lid. The metal disc the blades are mounted to isn't quite as thin as the top of an aluminum can so I doubt you'll cut yourself on the edges during cleaning or assembly, but it's not *that* much thicker, either. Again, however, for basic blending needs, this 2-in-1 definitely gets the job done and doesn't overwhelm you with a lot of additional options or program settings that you may well never use or need.

Great 2 in 1 blender. You can use the regular glass (yes, it is glass) container for more elaborate blendings like salsas, cooking or if you just want to have a big jar of juice. The glass is thick and of very good quality. You attach the blades at the bottom (be very careful, they are extremely sharp!) and then lock it into place in the base. The jar has a lid with an opening to pour ingredients without making a mess. Speaking of the base, its very sturdy and heavy enough that won’t be moving around your counter top. I love the illuminated buttons, they are press sensitive and have auto settings for smoothies and salsa. There is also one button with a cardiac pulse symbol, this is your pulse setting (great logo). There is also a low, medium and high setting. Only con is that there is no count down function or timer on it, you just have to keep an eye. They also include a 20z bottle where you can make quick smoothies, right into it. You just pop the blades and the o ring into it and then screw the black base into it, then pop it right back (upside down) into the base and make your smoothie of your preference, there will be no spill when finishing and turning it up side, as everything is perfectly tight and screwed down. They include a nice lid for it for easy drinking on the go! I highly recommend this 2 in 1 blender to anyone looking to save money and start making cheap and delicious smoothies (or salsas!) on the go, the blades are extremely sharp and nothing will get in their way, I made one myself with ice cubes on top and it crushed them like they were just paper, delicious!

The blades do not blend to a smoothie texture they blend only to a chunky that you can use a spoon to eat. I really don’t like chewing my smoothies. A not buy for sure.

    GOOD RESULTS, TAKES SOME EXPERIMENTING

OSTER - OSTER® 2-IN-1 BLENDER SYSTEM WITH BLEND-N-GO™ CUP AND 800-WATT MOTOR – GRAY GOOD RESULTS, TAKES SOME EXPERIMENTING My experience with blenders normally is that you dump in the ingredients and hit blend until you get the consistency you desire. Because the bottom of the OSTER 2-IN-1 BLENDER is smaller than normal, you have to give a little more thought to what order you put in your ingredients, and also add more liquid than you may be used to including. You also have to take into account if you are adding frozen or fresh ingredients. Access to the blade was easily blocked by too many frozen ingredients in the “bottom”. The few recipes on the side of the box tell you to pay close attention to the order of ingredients. (The pictures don’t match the words, so pay attention to the words not the pictures). After some experimenting, we were able to get a very good smoothie using both the larger and smaller containers. In general, and as advised on the insert, keep adding more liquid until it starts to blend properly. I was not a fan of having to move the o-ring and blades between smaller and larger vessels, it would have been nice to have 2 sets of blades included as found on other higher end products. If you are primarily going to use the travel cup then just can just leave it off after each use, in which case you don’t have to move it back and forth. The travel cup is nice, but the lid is really hard to open (it takes 2 hands). So I guess it is good to secure against leaking, but if you are driving you are going to want a straw and to leave it open, not sealed. I wish there were more instructions and recipes besides reading the box for recipes and a few included pamphlets. The motor gave off a burning smell the first few uses, but eventually that dissipated. It is pretty loud. The sticker on the front (for the buttons) was already peeling off before it was even used. I’m on the fence about fully recommending the unit. On one hand OSTER is a well known brand but this blender was more work than I want to deal with on a regular basis. I would say if you are primarily doing single cup smoothies of more or less the same recipe, and occasionally something larger then the OSTER 2-IN-1 BLENDER should serve you well. It like me you, you prefer just to dump in whatever comes to mind or you like larger batches, then you probably would want something with a larger base for easier access top the blades. So I’m going to give this a recommendation, but only for single cup smoothies instead of general dump in whatever you want blending. Remember 3 Stars = Average

    Have a Smoothie Day

--- FEATURES --- The Oster 2-1 Blender features a 20 oz. Blend-n-go cup, a 6 cup glass jar, an 800 watt motor, and stainless steel blades. --- PERFORMANCE --- I tested this blender by making my favorite smoothie: bananas, milk, and strawberries with some crushed ice. After I put the blender together, I wanted to test the to-go cup. I have previously owned other blenders specifically made for only to-go cups, so I wanted to see how this one measured up. I dropped in half a banana, soy milk, ice, strawberries, and some sweetener. With the touch of the smoothie button, it started doing it’s thing and in about 1 minute, I had a delicious strawberry-banana smoothie. My ice was crushed well enough and there were no chunky bits of any of the fruit. Overall, a good experience for smoothies. --- EXPECTATIONS --- In terms of the to-go cup, I didn’t like that I had to align the leak-preventing rubber ring with the to-go cup. I feel that by doing so, it limits the way that I want to use the blender and makes me decide between only using it as a to-go cup blender or as a 6 cup of jar blender. The rubber ring will sit loosely on the plastic edge until you seal it with the blades. Compared to other products where the ring is non-existent, this blender feels more of a hassle to use as both the jar and the to-go cup back and forth. I made the decision to only use it as a to-go cup. Otherwise, it is a good product. --- APPROVAL --- If your blender needs replacing, this is a good blender to buy and as a perk, it comes with a to-go cup.

Oster's new blender design makes quick work of food prep. When I have little time to spare, my morning routine is helped along by using the 20 ounce BLEND N GO cup. I can use the same container to blend my smoothie (or ice coffee) and screw on the capped lid for a quick out the door experience. Fresh and wholesome, one button pre programmed smoothies are guaranteed simple to make. There is also a salsa button. The membrane buttons are easy to wipe clean. No place for spilt liquids to clog and harden between control buttons. Upper right ON/OFF button, back lit with a blue on indicator light. Sharp grey colored motor base looks great. The 6-cup glass jar's vee-shaped funnel design guides ingredients toward the stainless steel blades for a perfect maceration and mix. The ribs on the jar's sides also helps persuade items toward the blades. The four blade mixer crushes ice easily. The noise level is average for a blender with so much power. 800-watt motor tears through everything I make. (Mixed cocktails without an additional, dedicated machine). Blueberry waffles are a cinch to prepare. Marinades come together fast and simple. Easy to clean canister and blades. Glass doesn't retain the spices odors. Center feed on the jar's lid is a requirement for me. It allows me to add ingredients while the machine is running for easy and thorough blending. I can even use older Oster blender accessories.
