I've been wanting to try an air fryer ever since they hit the market. Because, DEEP FRIED TASTE, w/o the oil, YES PLEASE! Our last Toaster Oven died over a year ago. I was hesitant to get another, because, as much as I enjoyed it, we just had a child move our for college, and I figured, "Maybe it won't get used it as much?". Well, Fast Forward to today. I'm thrilled that we didn't get one before now, because this Product is the best of BOTH worlds. I haven't used the TOAST function, (Nor do I plan to-I've got a toaster that works well), but I've used the others. Here is what I learned: BAKE works well and quick. I've reheated a full 4"x10" loaf of bread, on the rack, in 4 minutes with a crispy crust (after rinsing it in cold water for 5 seconds). CONVECTION works very well and much quicker! Reheated pizza (thick crust with lots of toppings) done in 6 min w/o preheat. Beautiful! Reduce the temp by 25-50 deg until you determine the specific temp/time combo that you prefer. I want my pizza bottom crispy, but the crust still soft enough to eat. I used BROIL for 2 bone-in pork chops at 450deg. It took much longer than I anticipated, almost 30 min on the top rack. Edges were darker, like I'd expect them to be, but the rest of the chops were not broiled "pretty". For anyone who uses an oven to BROIL meat in 10, maybe 15 minutes MAX, I don't think they'll be impressed with this function. Maybe the trade off in energy would be equal, but with what an absolute pain it was to clean the mesh tray, I really don't think I'll put raw meat on it ever again. (I thought it was clean 3x!) AIR FRY is WONDERFUL!! Followed the settings & used it for frozen potatoes. They were the best "deep fried" tots, delicious! Thinner items, i.e. waffle fries/steak fries etc. should have their time reduced by at least 5 min. My husband makes homemade chicken wings and he used to finish them up in the oven (starts by boiling them), now he uses AIR FRY and he's thrilled with the improvement! I really love the size. I was worried because I had a previous OSTER in the house (temporarily) and returned it only because it was too big. This has a nice compact footprint. We pull it out about 6" when we use it (lifting it slightly so it doesn't drag on the counter) and the weight is of no real issue. We even have space for the trays to fit on the top. The bottom crumb tray slides out for easy cleaning (like our previous OSTER). Clean up has so far been easy. We used to ALWAYS use aluminum foil for ease of clean up. BUT, since we learned that it can heat up the interior too much & cause problems we've switched to ONLY parchment paper inside. In fact, I always keep a trimmed piece on the tray, under the air fryer tray. Whether or not that has anything to do with why our previous ones failed, no idea, they were several years old, but now that we know, Parchment Paper it is! My only wish would be for the main tray to be easier to clean. I've even used a Baking Soda paste scrub and it still has small spots where you can tell it's not clean, even though it feels smooth. But that is my only thing I wish was different. 95% of the time, it just needs a quick wipe down. Others have mentioned the timer needing to be turned past 20 to heat...this is how all of my toaster ovens have worked, so I don't know anything different. It doesn't have a light inside, but...do any of them have one? Hasn't been a problem. The volume of it in operation is standard. Yes, on the AIR FRY setting it is quite a bit Louder, but, no issues here. The cord is quite short, but with a product this great, we just work with what we have. Overall, Very Happy with it!! It's been used about 6x/week minimum, each of the past 6 weeks.

Didn’t realize how big this air fryer was when ordered online. However, it can fit a 12” pizza no problem and because of its size, we use it almost as much as our microwave.

What a cool little multi-function oven! Used the air fryer function for the first time last night to make chicken wings and they were delicious and crispy! I’m very happy with it so far. The only thing I don’t like is how the sides of the oven get extremely hot. Needs some insulation there. It toasts well too.

Good product.. It works as expected. I have tried air fryer, toast, bake, broil mode and everything was perfect. I could get crispy fried chicken by using air fryer mode. One of my concern is the tray that easily stain. Eventhough I covered it with aluminum foil and washed it after usage.. still it is hard to remove those stain.

The Oster Countertop Oven with Air Fryer combines a toaster, oven, convection oven, broiler, and of course an air fryer into one clean and simple counter-top appliance at a good price. I'm giving this four stars because of cleaning issues I mentioned and the way it seems to dry out toast more than I expect. But if you're looking for one device that can do the job of a few different things to save you space this could be just what you're looking for! Design I like the clean aluminum look. It's a simple design with three dials on the top front. The large handle makes it very easy to open and close the door. There are two rack positions for you to slide in the included baking pan, Air Fry Basket, and Wire Rack. One thing I don't like about the design is the lack of a light on the inside. If your kitchen is well lit it shouldn't be a problem but if not, it can be hard to see how well done toast is getting or if those french fries are getting crispy. Unfortunately it's not quite wide enough for a 13"x9" baking pan. Easy to use The three dials make operation very simple. There are no menus to go through or problems seeing a screen. The first is for the mode. The second is for the temperature, and the third is for the time. The only two functions that I feel are not obvious are if you want to set a time for less than 20 minutes you need to turn the dial past 20 minutes first, this starts the timer, then turn it back to the desired time. The other is if you want to use the "Warm" function. To do this, you need to set the mode to "Bake" with the first dial. Then set the temperature dial to "Warm" and set a time - again, you need to go past 20 minutes first if the time you want is less than 20 minutes. Really though, for normal use it's very simple and turning past 20 first is easy enough to remember. Air Frying I was very interested to see how this does at air frying. It does well! My favorite thing about this is the way you have a large surface area to air fry with that basket so, while you still may need to toss some things around a bit half way through I wasn't doing that very often with this since you can spread out more over a thinner layer with the large surface area. It heats evenly and makes food nice and crisp. I've found that a lot of things, like frozen french fries, that come with directions for an air fryer, are often more conservative than they need to be with the temperatures. It seems hard to burn things with an air fryer. Don't be afraid to play with different temperatures! I've been happy with my results and while things may get extra crisp I haven't burnt anything. I attached a photos of some frozen fries I made in it. They got perfect! Toasting and Baking Being a table top oven I also have used this a lot as a toaster. It heats evenly top and bottom. Make sure you use the top rack level, as noted in the manual, for toasting and making frozen pizza. Pizza got great in it. Toast toasted nicely and evenly. The only issue I had hear was that toast always seemed to get more dried out than normal. Toast seems to dry out more with this than with other toaster ovens I've used. The fan for the air fryer and the fan for the convection bake are not on when this happens - it just set to "Toast". It still toasts well and I've been using it as a toaster but I thought this was worth mentioning. Cleaning In general, cleaning this isn't a problem. There's a crumb tray like you would expect in any toaster oven. It's all pretty standard. If you're using it as an air fryer though I find it more of a pain to clean the Air Fry Basket and Baking Pan that it sits on than cleaning the basket in a dedicated air fryer. The worse part of this is that the Baking Pan has a wrap around rim that holds water when you wash it. It had water in over night and the water was rusty when we realized there was some water in there and we dried it out. The pan surface is fine, the bottom is fine, the rust just came from in the rim. Still that was disappointing. So wash it and dry it out right away, trying to get all the water out of that rim.

    Oven replacement possibilities

This Oster countertop oven looks just like a little oven, on my countertop. Boxy in form, the exterior dimensions are 16” wide x 14.5” high x 16” deep. It looks big, but it is a little less wide than many similar ovens, because the controls are above the oven and not on the side. It is on the tall side, but there is plenty of room to stack your air fryer basket and broiler tray on top when not in use if that’s where you want to store it and you have an upper cabinet above. To use this oven, there are three dials you have to touch or at least check before you can start. The left one is where you set what you want to do; toast, air fry, bake or convect. The middle one is the temperature, and the right one is the timer. It seems like a lot of dials and work to make a piece of toast. A major negative with this oven is that there is no interior light. Where my toaster oven lives, it’s a bit dark, so I don’t really know what’s going on with my food. A plus is that the timer ticks so I can hear that it’s working, which I like because I can forget what’s going on in part of my kitchen if I’m busy on the other side but that sound reminds me about my food in the oven. The interior of the oven is roomy, it’s 12” wide x 12” deep x 7” high. There are only two levels that you can put a rack on though. There is enough space to toast four slices of regular sized bread at a time. I made a batch of box-mix brownies in the oven, it cooked evenly and it was much easier than heating up my 30” wall oven to bake a small pan of brownies. Air frying is the way to go, there’s no way I would oil fry anything in my kitchen. It’s just too messy for me. I cooked frozen chicken nuggets in this oven, they turned out great. There’s no need to turn them over when they are set on the basket in an uncrowded manner. With frozen fries I toss them up a bit in the middle of cooking. I do like that the air fryer basket has little feet so the basket doesn’t touch my countertop directly when I’m unloading food. In fact, I put the air fryer basket onto the broiler tray when I’m unloading food from the basket to the plate because I don’t like crumbs everywhere, and I don’t use the broiler pan much anyway. Which leads me to the crumb tray. I love the easy to remove and clean crumb tray. There’s a big lip to pull it out with, making it easy to clean it or at least dust off every so often. As far as the air fryer, it’s not the same as one of those free-standing oval shaped air fryers. With those you can put almost anything in it and it won’t bother the heating element because the heating element is usually on the ceiling over the food. In this oven, there are heating elements on the ceiling and on the floor of the interior. You want to avoid anything dripping on the heating elements, especially oil. If cheese melts on there, it smells pretty bad, you need to clean that off pretty quickly after the oven is cooled off. I do like how this oven can air fry up to 450 degrees, that is hard to find in a free-standing air fryer, those usually top out at 400 degrees. All in all this is a great little oven, and could replace a wall oven if needed. You could make anything you would cook in a regular oven, as long as it fits, as well as almost anything you would want to air fry.

Great all around appliance! We bought this after seeing my husband’s aunt had one. Cooked a pie in it (the real oven had an incident with premade rolls and a plastic lid being left on...) and it came out amazing. We’ve made Buffalo wings, pizzas, salmon, toast, cupcakes, etc. All are amazing. And it’s much better than a typical toaster oven and separate air fryer. This bakes, broils, toasts, air fries, and convection bakes. Would definitely recommend. Looks good too!

    XL capacity countertop oven

Out of all the countertop ovens I’ve used, this one definitely has the feel of a large oven. The door has the two position opening like a full-size oven and the vertical capacity is large like one. Cooking a whole chicken or something similar would definitely be easier in this. I used the convection function to make crab cakes and tater tots, and the crab cakes came out better than my big oven. The crab cakes were crispy on the outside but nice and moist on the inside and the tater tots were golden brown and crispy. The oven has five different functions, air fry, bake, broil, convection and toast. The one feature it doesn’t have is a light inside, but at this price point I can over look that. The oven doesn’t have an on/off button, which is the one change I would make. The timer is the on/off, but if you’re cooking less than 20 minutes, you must first turn the knob to the 20 minute mark and then to the desired time. Adding an actual on/off button or removing the need to turn the timer to 20 first would be my only change. If you need something with large capacity at very reasonable price, Oster has you covered.

I needed a new air fryer since my current one just died on my. and found the Oster Countertop Oven with Air Fryer. One of the main things that caught my attention was it's size. My previous air fryer was much smaller. What you're getting in the box: The Oster Oven/Air Fryer Wire shelf and basket It's obvious what this oven does, cook food, right? Lol, yes but, you can do different functions that you would in a large oven without all the wasted power needed to heat it up. The different setting you and use: Air Fry Toast Bake Broil Convection I've used it to broil and air fry some asian inspired chicken and pork ribs. The broiled chicken came out nice and moist but I did use dark meat but the it was easy to set cooking method, temp and time. When I air fried the pork ribs, this made the outer portion meat crispy. Meats were perfectly cooked it was super easy to use. The con: Oven, can't go for any longer time than 60 mins but if you're using this longer than an hour to cook, the oven might be the better option. Clean up of toast bit would be not so easy to clean. The good: Good size Easy to use stainless steel wire tray for small items I really like this oven and would recommend it for someone that does cook at home often. Looking to try the bake feature.

    Oster Countertop Combo A Winner

    |
    Tech Insider Network Member
    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Oster Countertop Oven with Air Fryer, Convection, Toaster, Bake and Broil function in silver finish, model TSSTTVMAF1, is a beautifully executed countertop combo. A point of information – This is the same Oster model number shared with another Oster lookalike in black metal finish that appears to have been discontinued. I recently tried a standalone air fryer and came away wondering . . . WHY? Devoting so much countertop space to a one-trick-pony seems not a good plan to me. On the flip side, Oster (and others) offers a multifunctional, large capacity countertop oven that air frys and the other functions. This seems a smarter use of my valuable, all too little kitchen counter space and a smarter financial investment. In a recent test I evaluated air fryer mainstays bacon, frozen breaded fish fillets and frozen chicken nuggets divided three ways. About a third went in this Oster, a third in a dedicated air fryer and a third went on a tray in the oven for good ol’ oven baked bacon and other foods that always work well. No oil was added to any preparation. The result? To me and my two accomplices the taste and texture were equivalent. We were pleasantly surprised at the performance of this multi-talented Oster. Here are some differences. An 8-quart (7.7L) capacity air fryer standalone in my recent test has a large cavity, though it is recommended to fry multiple small pieces in a single layer. Ditto other items, such as tater tots and fries. A small whole chicken did well in this dedicated air fryer, containing the splatter within its cavity. Compared to a measurably smaller 3.7L (3.9 quart) cavity in this Oster, the usable space here feels more flexible and useful and with greater functionality. Air frying relies not only on heat and air circulation, similar to convection cooking, but also an air gap above and below the food, with a pan to catch drippings below. Convection cooking and baking allows for the possibility of having to turn the food over as it sits directly on a tray. Air Frying may require a shake of the fry basket to move the food about for more even, all-around cooking and crisping. Similar, to be sure, but not the same. I would not suggest, nor do manufacturers, air frying a deep basket of overlapping foods. How can the heated “frying” air circulate amongst the food if in a mound? It cannot. A chicken small enough to fit the air fry basket in the Oster came out beautifully! Nice and crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and altogether delicious. There are two shelf heights available to accommodate different size and amounts of food. The air frying process produces splatter. While contained within the Oster, it sure made a mess everywhere inside, including on the glass door where it is visible for all to see. Splatters above, on the sides and on the back panel are somewhat hidden from direct view. Therein, I think, lies the air fry difference between the two types of devices. Oh, and this Oster multi-purpose appliance can also bake a 12-inch pizza. Take that, single-purpose air fryers! Other Oster settings can also result in a bit of a mess, which, if not off-putting, can simply be ignored and chalked up to being just the way it is. This is probably the right mindset. It’s an appliance, not a piece of kitchen counter art! Toast, Broil and Bake settings operated as expected, and performed well. Convection engages both top and bottom heating elements and the air-circulating fan. Think Bake plus air circulation on this setting and about a claimed 30% faster result. The Air Fry setting turns on only the top element along with the fan to circulate hot air. It appears that the fan speed on each setting is different, with Air Fry producing higher speed and greater hot air circulation. Depending upon the chosen setting, users have available a rack, a shallow pan and the air fry “basket.” Mix and match as you see fit! A removable crumb tray fits snugly at the bottom with an upward-facing notch making for easy removal. I keep it fitted with a tightly wrapped piece of heavy duty aluminum foil. I also keep the shallow pan fitted with three layers of foil to contain wet and dry fallout. There is always something there to prevent making a big mess on the pan itself. It is faster and easier to change the foil than to clean up a mess on the pan. A timer setting provides automatic shut-off upon cycle completion. There isn’t a stay-on feature. Probably a smart, safer idea to NOT allow unlimited ON time in any mode, especially in speed-cooking Air Fry mode or to use it even if it were available in Broil mode. The temperature control operates regardless of the function setting. However, toast needs to be set at 450º/toast and broiling is best at the 450º maximum temperature setting. Lower temperature settings include a designated, indicated 0º to about 250º warming temperature suggestion. That’s it in a nutshell. Oster Countertop Oven with Air Fryer, model TSSTTVMAF1 is now available and ready for your multi-functional use in not a lot of countertop space. I like it and recommend it! I look forward to its use on a regular basis instead of firing up the oven when preparing food in quantities ideal for this appliance. And I don’t need a separate toaster, either, though there is no unique bagel setting. I will experiment using the Air Fry setting to toast the perfect bagel. Includes Oster’s one-year warranty.

Intuitive Controls, So far features used work well

As noted in the manual, the unit did give off some fumes on initial heating. We purchased this oven to replace another toaster oven. This one is larger so we have more options with the pans we use and how much we can cook. We have used the toast, bake, convection settings so far. Each has worked well. We have yet to try the air fryer, but expect to soon. We like the manual controls as they are easy to understand and set. We have found digital controls on other appliances to not be as intuitive and more likely to fail. We roasted lamb in the oven and to my surprise, it was not difficult to clean. We understand this unit may now be discontinued. We are glad we purchased it when we did.

We had been eyeing an air fryer and this one seemed like the best value. A multipurpose appliance to save some precious counter space. The build is as I expected since I have a couple of other Oster appliances. It is sturdy, easy to use, and looks like it is built to last. It was very easy to setup. The dials are large and are easy to use. They have a nice clicking response when moved into the desired temperature, time, or mode. After unpacking and setting it up we were excited to use it. We decided to use it to make fries and chicken wings, and wow did this air fryer deliver. There was a quick use guide in the packaging that gave estimated cooking times for various dishes and fries and wings were on the list. I looked up some cooking recipes online and they closely confirmed the guide that came in the box. Cooking was easy, set to air fry, set the temp, and set the timer, and wait. The only oil we used was a bit of olive oil to prep the potatoes to make fries. We used no oil for the chicken wings, and they came out great. The fries were cooked perfectly, and the wings were nice and crispy. My sons enjoyed them and said they were better than the ones we get from taking out. This Oster oven/air fryer is great, and we are excited to try out some more dishes. This would be an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a very capable air fryer and oven. I love that it saves us some space since it’s combining a couple of appliances. I think the only thing I would love to have added to it would be a digital reader for the time/temp. Other than that I love using this so far.

I would recommend this to a friend
