Easier on the eyes, pain to install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am one who always places Tempered Glass screen protectors on all my devices. For my iOS devices, it’s pretty simple to adjust the color temperature to ease the light strain on my the eyes. I was excited to see that OtterBox have an actual Blue Light Guard Screen Protector that is also Tempered Glass. After a week post-installation, here are my quick thoughts. Pros: -Lessen eye strain: Blue Light filters assists the eyes when reading on a digital screen. They help lessen eye strain and protect your eyes the longer you look at your screen. Not going into the actual physics of it, the blue light filter “saves” your eyes as time goes on. Even using the Blue Light Screen Protector in conjunction with the color temperature will help reduce your eye strain. -Protection: tempered glass will help protect the main glass of your iPhone. And the OtterBox Amplify Blue Light Screen Protector’s size covers almost the entire area of your iPhone. Add a case with raised edges will nearly guarantee your iPhone’s screen will be safe. Cons: -Installation: most of the tempered glass protectors I’ve used had guide stickers to place to keep one side in place as you remove the adhesive protecting the sticky side. OtterBox uses a case where you situate your iPhone in place, with the glass already connected on one side and after cleaning the glass of your iPhone, you simply lower the other side of the glass protector to a notch on the top, to ensure accurate placement. The adjusting case I received was a little loose and kept moving around, thus my iPhone was not centered. But once you place the screen protector securely in that top notch, it will prevent that holding case from moving. Then you push down the screen protector onto the iPhone and then start pushing out air bubbles out of the way. This whole process could’ve been lessened with just adjustment stickers on one side like every other company. The dust removal sticker and wet wipe/cleaning cloth provided are really good. The whole process of placing it was a pain in the rear and added more unnecessary time to the installation. Overall, I am very pleased with this OtterBox Amplify Blue Light Screen Protector is great, comes a trusted company, and will protect my iPhone. I just wished the installation process wasn’t this tedious.

Feels tough/solid but mixed bag for installation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're nervous about achieving a PERFECTLY straight and flush application of a glass screen protector onto your new iPhone, this Otterbox kit *kind* of makes you confident that you might be able to succeed. When you empty the box, you're greeted with a pretty intimidating (or reassuring, depending on your experience with these type of protectors in the past) array of parts, but the basic premise is the same as it has been ever since these protectors became part of their own cottage industry. You have a kit with a wet alcohol wipe to clean off your existing screen, a small microfiber cloth to dry it off, and the obligatory static dust sticker for fine particle removal just before you hold your breath, peel off the clear backing, and carefully apply the glass protector to the front of your phone's screen. Normally, alignment of the screen protector onto the phone is accomplished through some sticky tape hinges that hold the protector in roughly the right position for lowering, or you just eye-ball the protector as you place it down onto the phone’s screen and hope you don’t have it crooked or set too far to one side or another by the time you pull out the air bubble squeegee. The trick here with the Otterbox kit is aligning the phone inside the included expandable plastic rack which, in theory, holds your phone at precisely the right angle to allow for a perfectly straight application of the protector onto the phone's screen. Once nestled inside the little black torture rack, you simply pull off the backing and fold over the glass protector onto the phone’s screen. The protector is guided into place by a see-through plastic strip that is attached to the bottom of the plastic fitting rack …and there is a helpful cut-out notch at the top of the plastic strip so that when you lay the protector down flat, the cut-out fits over the notch featured at the top of the fitting rack and—presto—a perfectly aligned screen cover. Well…sort of… In practice, we found that the plastic guide strip had a bit too much lateral “play” and still required some finesse as the protector was millimeters away from the phone’s surface to ensure a straight and uniform application. In addition, the fitting rack looks to be universal and therefore suitable for use on a multitude of phones. While I’m guessing this saved Otterbox some money by not having to press custom fitting frames for each phone, it means that the phone actually doesn’t fit securely in the frame because there are no corner cut-outs specifically for the iPhone 12. Instead, it actually took a few times to get the pressure, angle, and fitment just right (by eye-balling it) to ensure that our iPhone was squarely (as humanly possible) in the middle of the frame. Still, once the protector was in place, the air bubbles magically disappeared and the heavy-duty fabric-tipped plastic squeegee (possibly one of the best squeegee tools I’ve ever seen in a kit like this!) took care of any sub-surface irregularities. Once applied, we certainly liked the results. You’ll have to decide whether you can live with the notch cut-out in the protector as this one does feature a large gap near the top to accommodate the iPhone’s various cheek-facing cameras and sensors. It also doesn’t QUITE reach the edges of the screen once applied so most cases with a screen cut-out should be no problem. The surface is supposedly treated with special silver ions that ward off harmful microbes…I can’t speak to that as I’ve never had a microbe-based failure in a screen protector before, and thanks to the current health crisis, we use a UV sanitizer for our phones regularly anyway…but it’s nice to think there’s a little extra biological protection baked into the glass. Yes, there is a bluish tint to the screen when the phone is used outdoors thanks to the blue-blocking properties of the glass; whether it ends up bothering you or not probably depends on how much you regularly use your phone in bright, natural lighting, and how much blue light actually bothers you in practice. All told, the feeling of the protector is certainly solid and it doesn’t seem to be as much of a finger-print magnet as cheaper glass protectors do, but it’s not quite the home-run I typically associate with Otterbox products. At the very least, a custom-fitted plastic bumper that exactly matched the iPhone’s frame contours would have made precise application of the protector even easier than the somewhat imprecise, stretch-to-fit rack included in this kit. That said, this kit is good for peace-of-mind that you’re getting Otterbox quality with some additional blue-light protection and maybe even some minor health benefits...a little refinement in the application tools and this kit would definitely be worth the extra change over the competition!

Swiss army knife of screen protectors
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though Apple claims that the ceramic shield is tougher this year. I rather not take any chances since a cracked screen can be a costly repair. By installing a tempered glass screen protector it’s a good way to add some extra protection to your screen. The Otterbox Amplify not only provides some extra drop protection but also provides some protection for your eyes with a built-in blue light filter. Another stand-out feature is the anti-microbial finish that kills surface bacteria, which a huge plus with everything that is currently going on. Installation: The process was quick and simple. Otterbox provides you with all the tools needed to aid you in the installation process. A wipe to clean the display. Microfiber cloth. Squeegee just in case you get bubbles. Tray to hold the phone in place and help install the screen protector. Within a minute I had the screen protector installed without any bubbles, perfectly aligned, and free from lint or dust specs. My recommendation is to find an area that is clean and doesn’t have any type of fan running. Use the wipe to go over the display multiple times to remove any fingerprints or oil. Before you do the final step of laying down the screen protector go over the surface with a bright light to see if you any dust specs or lint on the screen. Use the dust sticker to go all over the screen until you feel confident that is free from lint or dust. If you do have a can of compressed air spray use it to blow away any remaining dust or lint. Take your time and if necessary do a practice run. I was concern that the Blue light filter was going to caused a yellow tint. It actually did not and the screen still looked gorgeous, clear, colorful, and razer sharp. The screen protector also does a great job against fingerprints. When you get an inexpensive screen protector you will notice how messy your screen gets with smudges from your fingerprints. Your screen stays looking cleaner longer. Even though it’s expensive the Otterbox Amplify Glass does a good job of mimicking the feel and look of the iPhone screen without any screen protectors. These phones are not cheap and if you want to protect them from drops or scratches it’s best to use high-quality screen protectors. They won’t get scratch or smudge your beautiful display easily. Besides those excellent qualities, you also get a blue light filter and anti-microbial for surface bacteria. If you think about it how many times we interact with our phones before we clean our hands, it’s the reason why mobile screens are considered a breeding ground for bacteria. “Reviewers in this invitation-only program are provided products for the purpose of writing honest, unbiased reviews.”

Great choice
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve dropped my phone a few times already and no cracks so far (and I do have the Otterbox case as well). The screen has a blue tint to it, but it is easy to get used to and does not affect the colors when the screen is illuminated. The screen protector came with a noticeable small chip in it, but it did not have cracks (and there is a warranty). There was an applicator kit to align your phone in, but it was a tight fit and caused the screen protector to be off center in order to work. I got dust under the screen protector trying to center it, but the screen protector comes attached to the mechanism and unfortunately had to be used. The touchscreen works just as well with the screen protector and it has not cracked yet with a few accidental drops from a foot or two above a hard surface. Overall, it seems to be good quality so far; the only downside is the application process was unnecessarily difficult. It is the best one I have found so far that does not have a chemical warning on it.

Nice Glass Screen Protector
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am the proud owner of an iPhone 12, and as always, it was in need of proper treatment. I usually put HD shield glass on my phones, but this item was tempting to try. I must say in the first weekish of having it, and I satisfied with product. The set-up: The glass provides all necessary cleaning items to get the screen prepared. The OtterBox also provides a plastic grid to help with the alignment. I took advice from a previous review to use canned air to insure all the lint was off the screen. Instructions are simple to follow. I had zero issue getting the glass lined up and installed on the first try. I had minimal air bubbles that quickly and easily were removed. This installation was significantly easier than other brands I've owned. Use: It has a blue tint, but it does not magically make everything on the screen look blue. It seems to be a little more resistant to finger print smudges and my OCD-ness appreciates that. I have not dropped the phone so I cannot speak to durability. I hope I never have to worry about it, but the security is nice to know. Overall, I highly recommend the product as it has met all of my needs.

Yep, i like Otterbox
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I say a quality product. I had otterbox on the pro11, I had to take it off when I was using the phone in an underwater case. It came off fine to my surprise, and I was later able to put it back on. Believe it or not with no bubbles or dust. I hate putting them on, but the blue light guard is nice and knowing that i can save downtime by not needing a screen replaced its a big savings for me.

Great screen protector with added health benefits
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great protection for the screen! The blue shield works to keep your eyes from getting tired from staring at it too much. The only thing I didn't like was the fitment was a bit too small and the earpiece area is completely gone so it's not 100% coverage.

Finally the perfect system!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It has been a while since I have put a screen protector on a phone. I always hate the bubbles I would get because of dust or having to align the screen protector multiple times. All these problems have been engineered for with this amazing screen protector. You get an alcohol wipe, dust free cloth, and a dust removal sticker to deal with the dust. The best part, and truly amazing part, for my OCD brain that hates bubbles under my screen protector is the alignment tool. All you do is put your phone into this tool, after removing all the dust from the screen. Then remove the screen protector backing, pull the screen protector and lock it onto the alignment pin. Press down with the squeegee tool and done! That’s it. No room for mistakes and looks perfect!! Love the feel and blue color of the screen protector also!!

Good quality but expensive
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this because the new Otterbox Defender for the iPhone 12 Pro does not include a screen protector as the one I had for my 6s did. This protector is very thick and sturdy as I would expect from an Otterbox product. The blue tint definitely shows in natural sunlight. It isn’t really noticeable in artificial light inside. Overall this is a very sturdy piece. If you think the blue time is going to be a distraction, you might not want to get this one. It doesn’t really bother me. The only negative is that purchasing the Defender and this screen protector is expensive.

Expensive, is it worth it?
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Expensive piece of glass at $55, only the excellent Shellrus Sapphire glass protector is more pricey. Installation is average. Otterbox gives you an adjustable frame which you place your device in. You then resize the frame until the frame grasps the iPhone. Problem is that the frame wants to grasp the iPhone at an angle which will lead to a misaligned install. You MUST make sure that the frame sides are parallel to the iPhone. A good hint: the iPhone screen is covered by a sticky static plastic sheet when new. Keep the sheet on until you install the protector. That will give you better results as the small sticky pad that is supplied will probably get more dust on the screen as you tap the screen with it. This glass also has a blue filter which is very noticeable in direct sunlight. While it does not appear to affect the colors indoors, the screen will definitely have a blue cast when used outdoors,., Otterbox claims this screen is the best one they make (co-developed with Corning Glass which makes excellent glass products) and online reviews do show the protector as above average when compared to others. But most screen protectors run from $10-30 which is a lot cheaper (and some supply two to four screens as well). You will have to decide if it is worth it for you.
