The best accent lighting that I have used

The Philips Hue light strips are very versatile, bright, dimmable, and easily controlled by the Hue bridge. I use Alexa to turn the lights on/off and dim. I still need to use the Hue app to control colors. I have mounted two lights on the back of my flat screen TV to create interesting lighting effects. The lights have 3M sticky tape already mounted to the lights so installation is very easy. I'm looking for additional uses for these lights, I really like the lighting they produce.

HUE Lightstrip Plus Brings Music Every Hour!

As an early HUE adopter, I started with each bulb variety & the original Lightstrips. This updated Lightstrip is 10X brighter than the original! I have an unusual use for my first 2) Lightstrip Plus: I bought a wall clock that plays music with the internal Clarion System. The light sensor in this clock will not allow the sound to play, because it thinks our Family Room is too dark so it keeps it silenced! So I installed 2) strips on the back of 2) contemporary Pole Lights, so the lights are not seen from the room. They flood the walls with light, and the clock chimes beautiful music every hour! I use the HUE Alarm function to turn the Lightstrip Plus off during the night, and anytime I want silence. They are a wonderful product and work better than I could have imagined, based on comparisons with the original Lightstrip!!

These are the greatest thing since the door bell! If you haven't purchased anything from hue yet...these are a must! So many funthings you can do with these. I bought two sets and wrapped them around the base of my white Christmas tree. It glows! And any color I want!! Buy these!!

The light strip is incredibly bright, the colors are remarkable, and the versatility of the mounting is impressive. Overall, I don't think it is worth the full 90 bucks they charge for regular price. It should be about half that price, in my opinion.

I recently purchased and subsequently returned the new version of the Hue Lightstrip. The product is great, as are the other Hue products, but I just did not end up having a great place for the lightstrip. I did try it behind my television, but the look did not necessarily fit with our style for the room. Also, it is a little difficult to wrap the back of the tv using the 3m tape attached to the back of the strips...especially on the corners. If you have a dedicated movie room with a large entertainment center, the lightstrip along with a bloom on each side of the tv would really create the movie theater experience. I also did not have outlets in the necessary locations to try the strip as under bar lighting or I might have kept the strip. Overall, the new lightstrip is brighter than the previous version and another excellent hue product.

    Fantastic Lights by Philip Hue

I decided to create a game room with a ton of LED lights. I wanted high quality and high color output from the lights and hands down Philip Hue was the way to go. 1. Crisp colors 2. Dimmable lights 3. Easy install 4. Easy control 5. Multitudes of colors to cycle through 6. Fantastic brightness with all colors. 7. Easy to use Philip Hue app. 8. Excellent quality 9. Excellent adhesive on back and stays where a person puts them. 10. Easily controlled by smart assistants. Love that feature. All around a great product to purchase to do a wide array of projects in the house. But, without a doubt Philip Hue lights are the way to go for all the quality and the best color output. Can’t go wrong with them. Check out my pictures of what I did with my Philip Hue lights in my game room and I’m not near finished with it yet.

PROS - An awesome way to add some accent lighting to your home. I have received lots of positive comments since installing it. CONS - Way too expensive at $90. I bought on sale for $50. I think this would be a must have at $40. The adhesive backing wasn’t very sticky and came off after 1 day. I had to use a stronger product to keep it adhered. I decducted 1 Star for the price and 1 Star for the adhesive.

I would give it a 5 star but set up was a bit difficult until I did a Google search. If the Hue bridge cannot find the strip, you must enter the RF box serial number in order for it to find the strip. This number is found on the strip, not on the package or the electrical plug...see pictures. Once I figured this out, it was easy to connect to the bridge. Also, the app doesn't always connect to the light strip. I haven't tried using a secondary app not made by Philips. The color choices are many. Love the fact that I can program it to come on at multiple times...morning, evening and when I come home, just to name a few. I have it on top of my kitchen cabinets and is bright enough so I can see without turning on the overhead light. .

As with any Phillips Hue product, this strip does an amazing job with the color combination. The setup was a breeze, the 3M stick bars in the back are strong enough to stick the lights on any surface. I installed mine under the kitchen cabinet. The setup via the HUE app was easier, considering that I already have other HUE bulbs so adding these lights was super easy. Adding these to be controlled by alexa was also intuitive and fast. The only downside I can find is the limited 8' length. I wish Phillips were to come up with a way to add strips in case of needing a longer application. Also conversely to a long application, if I have to cut it shorter, the cut left over becomes unusable, in which case, I think I will double up instead. Other than that. . . hands down a great application.

Easy to install. HUE ap for control is expansive with many features to customize your experience. Creating your “rooms” & then linking your phone is as simple as placing your phone close to the plug in control. Only slight hiccup was a couple units adhesive backing came off some when peeling the backing off - but an easy exchange to fix. Linking to Google Home for voice activation is simple, Lighting Is dramatic and has impressed all who have seen it.

I first tried the LIFX light strip and it kept disconnecting from WiFi so I returned it. I got the Hue light strip plus during Black Friday sale and love it. I’ve placed behind sofa for now and it adds nice ambient lighting I can match to decor. I have it voice controlled with both Alexa and Siri with Hue bridge I also got on sale with 4 light bulbs.

I really like these lights!! I have the starter strip and an extension. I ran them up underneath my bar. 2 aspects of these lights that could be improved... The adhesive on the back - the strip is rolled and boxed for shipping. There is a protective peel-off paper to protect the adhesive. This peel off is cut into smaller strips (presumably to make it easier to roll). On my light strip, several of those peel off strips had separated from the adhesive coating, causing the adhesive to be less secure in many spots. Nothing a few thumbtacks couldn't fix for me, but tacks might not be a good solution for everyone... Perhaps roll the adhesive separately and let the consumer apply it themselves. Seems 3M has a double-sided adhesive strip. Also, the power cord is fairly long. I didn't need it so long, so I have a big loop of the excess cord hanging visible below my bar. I don't know if there's really any answer to that 'problem'. I guess I could get creative with a staple gun up underneath the bar... Oh, and of course, as they are applied with an adhesive backing - once they're in place you can't really adjust or reposition them, so you might take a little more time than I did figuring out what you're going to do with them before you just stick them up... Hey! I was excited!! :-) But overall, the enjoyment I'm getting from these lights far outweighs those minor annoyances. I'm going to get more!!

We purchased one lightstrip plus and three extension kits. while expensive, it did what we were looking for it to do. It was easy to add it to the system and easy to control it by using Alexa (Amazon echo) for basic on/off and dimming and fun to change colors with the iPad. No issues so far. Everyone loved it. I've included pictures of how we used it. Looks better in person but you get the idea. The sticky tape didn't work for us, we used electrical nails that are used for in wall wiring to keep it in place.

I have a several Hue light bulbs, so this was an obvious choice to fit in with my existing system. Installation was easy, the 3M sticky tape is very strong, and holds to most surfaces. The final installation looks very nice under my kitchen cabinets, and the white light is bright enough to be practical and provide adequate lighting. I have everything integrated in to Amazon Alexa, and it’s very cool to use Siri on my Apple Watch to turn on the light, or change color, not that I do. Good buy!

The philips lightstrip is pretty amazing. Very easy to connect to the hub. The colors are brilliant, they can be very vibrant or dimmed your preference. The only downfall of the item is the doublestick tape that comes with with the strip is not very good. Just buy some extra double stick tape or the 3m tape hooks work very good. Over all i love them and would buy more!

Best RGB light strip for smart homes

I bought this strip to replace my cheap RGB strips. The colors are vivid and the brightness is strong, and the build quality seems much more durable. And it integrated perfectly into my Hue setup. The ability to sync it to my lights and run animations on it makes it so much more than a plain RGB strip. It is a bit pricey, but when all factors are considered it is a great kit. Definitely recommended for anyone with Hue lights who want to expand to more than just the bulbs.

You don't need the Philips Hue Bridge to make this work with SmartThings. I was able to add it easily to my configuration and only took about 5 minutes to get it to work. SmartThings allows you to change color as you want BIT I am sure the Philips Bridge would give you more options (themes, etc). It works great for me. I put one in the bathroom and 1 in the kitchen under the cabinets.

Got these strip lights and they were super easy to setup and mount behind tv. You will also need the hue bridge. Did these on a 65" tv. Needed the light strip + 3 sets of extensions to do the whole tv. The lights are very bright and easy to change the colors from the app on your phone.

I’ve been adding to my hue bulb collection for a couple of years. My latest project was to add strips inside my cabinets. They turned out great and I appreciate all the color options, including the many “whites”. For everyday I use a warm white, for holidays I pick colors. I do wish Phillips would sell adapters to connect pieces you cut off of one strand to add to another strand. The places to cut are 12” apart, which caused me to have to be creative in one cabinet, but they turned out great.
