Disappointed in product & service
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replacement unit has a camera defect. After almost 1 year of trying (see another writeup), original unit was uninstalled, taken to BB, given this unit, waited for installation, checked after installation tech left and saw an obvious problem. Immediately contacted BB, scheduled another tech 2 days later who confirmed defect and advised that I should schedule an uninstall/reinstall of another unit.

Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback with us.
We understand the importance of a seamless setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus right away. It is critical for a home security device to have enough power to keep your device online and ready to protect you. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like there is some confusion regarding the installation of the Ring Battery Doorbell Plus. It is a battery-powered device, but it can also be connected to an existing doorbell system with a hardwired transformer (8 to 24 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 5 VA to 40 VA).
Before you start installing your doorbell, make sure to shut off the power at the breaker. If you're not sure which breaker controls your doorbell, turn off your home's master breaker or contact an electrician.
Once power is turned off, remove your existing doorbell button from the wall and disconnect the wires. Your Ring doorbell is compatible with doorbell systems supplying 8 to 24 VAC at 50/60 Hz and 5 VA to 40 VA. Visit our support center for additional installation guidelines.

A basically useless video doorbell
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This ring doorbell sucks!!! Will not notify me when someone is walking up to my door and only sometimes it’ll catch them after they left. What good is that. I’ve got the sensitivity turn to max and the zone covering my whole front yard and walk way. But still doesn’t pick any one up on camera. I can walk right in front of it all the way to my from door without being seen. The only time it’s sends a notification is when someone actually rings the doorbell. Wish I could return it but past the return window now. I should’ve kept my eufy video doorbell instead of getting this piece of junk. Do yourself a favor and do not get this model of ring doorbell.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We know how vital it is for your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus to notify you of motion at your door. The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus is designed to notify you of visitors when they ring your doorbell, as well as when they enter the motion zones you have set up. We would love the opportunity to work with you to ensure your device is set up for optimal performance so that you get notified of the motion you want to.
It sounds like your device is not detecting the motion that you want it to. For the best results, you will want to mount the doorbell about four feet (1.20 meters) above the ground. If your device is mounted on angled siding, atop a set of stairs, or higher than four feet, a wedge kit can be used to angle your device down for a better view and more accurate motion detection. Visit our support center for more information on installing your device for optimal performance: https://ring.com/support/articles/w16wi/Installing-Ring-Battery-Doorbell-Plus.

Not reliable
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The video and device quality in general is good. But the battery consumption is a lot. It lasts max a month despite the advertisements saying 3 to 6 months. It responds to motions with delay. Sometimes I intentionally move in front of the camera and I don't get any notification. If I increase the sensibility it'll send me lots of notifications almost every 2 mins. It is installed close to wifi device but it's hard to connect to it sometimes to see a live video. I have to try many times. I went over all the settings but it's still not a reliable thing.

Posted .Hi Francis.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is to have your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus capture all the correct motion events. The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus was designed to capture motions based on your specifications to help keep your home secure. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."
There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.
To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".

Ring doesn't do different Front and Back dr tones
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These were purchased and installed to upgrade a 65 year-old wired doorbell system that announced different chime tones, one for front door and a different chime for the side door. Since we decided to place the two Ring video doorbells in better locations than the viewing angles provided by the wired doorbells, we were not going to use the two existing chimes. And since we normally don't carry our phones all the time while at home, we needed a minimum of 2 Ring Chimes, one placed near the two existing chimes so they can be heard distinctly throughout the house. When programming the two Ring Chimes along with the two Ring Video Doorbell, we discovered that you cannot set two different ring tones on a single Ring Chime to announce which doorbell is being rung unless you have your phone. Since we had already spent and installed other Ring components throughout the house, this was a hard lesson to learn. Customer Service at Ring is pretty poor, and it is hard to explain to them why you might need two different ring tones on a single Ring Chime to accounce two different Ring Doodbells. And you still have to subscribe to a monthly service in order to do the Security Video stuff. The marketing for Ring is much better than the experience we received for the money spent.

We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. Being able to rely on the alerts to know when someone is at your door is an essential feature of the Ring Chime. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like there was some confusion regarding the abilities of the Ring Chime. When plugged into a standard wall socket, the Chime produces an audio signal whenever you receive an alert from a Ring device for motion and doorbell announcements. While you can connect multiple Ring devices to a single Ring Chime, at this time, the Ring Chime cannot use different tones for different Ring devices. As a remedy, you could install multiple Ring Chimes and only connect one Ring Video Doorbell to each, or you could connect your Ring Video Doorbells to compatible Alexa-enabled devices to receive notifications.
We are constantly striving to improve our products, and your feedback is an invaluable part of that process. At Ring, we believe in keeping people close to what’s important. That is why we are driven to create products that help you protect what matters most at home and empower you to connect with your visitors from wherever you are. ||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Downgrade from prior models. Aesthetically pleasing with flexibility to charge faceplates, and I like that the battery itself is removable to charge separate from the device. Battery life is similar to prior models and subject to weather/settings - ours averages two weeks at low sensitivity but active environment, before needing a charge. “Person detected” is the default notification even when motion doesn’t indicate a live person. Recognition is generalized as if they fast-tracked the configuration. App settings are categorized/organized in a mess much like the depths of Amazon navigation. Neighborhood alerts and posts are helpful for awareness and dialogue. All else I would recommend another brand altogether.

If using a corner mount, use the short bracket screws from Bag C to secure your doorbell to the bracket. WARNING! Only use the included corner bracket screws when securing the corner bracket. WARNING! Only use the included wall mounting screws when securing the doorbell. CAUTION! Do not drill or drive screws into your home's electrical wiring. 3. Insert the battery and secure the faceplate. CAUTION! If you use the wrong screws to secure the faceplate, you could damage the battery during installation, create a fire hazard, and be seriously injured. We are here today to provide you with information to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus is not picking up the motion you are wanting it to. The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus offers advanced motion detection and customizable motion zones. At Ring, we understand it is essential to have your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus online and working properly so you can keep your home secure. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here today to provide you with information to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus wifi signal is not very strong. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Follow these steps to check wifi signal strength—or RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator)—in the Ring app:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the Menu (☰).
Tap Devices and select the Ring device you'd like to check.
Tap the Device Health tile.
Under the Network section, look for Signal Strength.
If the RSSI value listed is green, your device has a strong signal. If it is grey, amber, or red, it may have a moderate to weak signal.
The larger the number after "RSSI-" the weaker the signal.
For example, a device displaying "RSSI-36" has a stronger signal than a device showing "RSSI-64."
If you have a poor wifi signal, visit our support center for tips on how to improve it.

This is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. To see what features may be draining your device's battery, you can go to Power Settings in the Ring app. To access Power Settings, open the Ring app and follow these steps:
Tap menu (≡) on the top left of the Dashboard.
Tap Devices
Tap the individual device you want to check
Tap Power Settings to check your Battery Level percentage and Feature Power Usage
Tap a feature to adjust Snapshot Capture, Motion Frequency and Video Recording Length

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
We understand how critical it is for your hard wiring to function as intended in order to supply power to your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus. It is critical for a home security device to have enough power to keep your device online and ready to protect you. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like your device is not receiving enough power to stay charged. When connecting to an existing doorbell system, it should be hardwired to a transformer rated between 8 and 24 VAC, 50/60 Hz, and 5VA to 40VA. When your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus is wired to your home's electricity and receiving power, the ring on the front of the device will display a solid white light. Posted .Hi GailTeicher, I understand the importance of having your Battery Doorbell Plus ring your internal chime kit. While this is a battery powered Ring Doorbell, it can be hardwired to an existing doorbell circuit to ring a compatible chime kit. You can reference the installation instructions here https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/13096312125332. Once the doorbell is properly installed, it should ring your chime kit when someone presses the button. If you still have questions, feel free to ask other neighbors on the Ring Community at https://community.ring.com/. Best, Ashley from Ring.

It sounds like your device is not performing as expected. Ring Battery Doorbell Plus is Ring’s upgraded smart doorbell with super clear HD+ video and expanded head-to-toe field of view. From package deliveries and motion detection to visitors, you’ll see it all from wherever you are right in the Ring app.
A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. We would love the opportunity to share with you some troubleshooting steps that you can try to get your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus functioning as intended.
If your networking equipment hasn’t been power cycled in a while, try unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Wireless networks utilize different channels for communication. In the United States, the 2.4 GHz band uses channels 1-11 and the 5 GHz band uses channels 36-165. In some cases, setting up your Ring device(s) can fail due to wireless interference or congestion.
Follow the steps in the Ring app to reconnect the doorbell to your network. To reconnect a Ring video doorbell to your wifi network: Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (≡). Tap Devices and select the doorbell or camera you'd like to reconnect to wifi. Tap the Device Health tile. Under Network, tap Change Network and follow the prompts in the app. Allow some time for your device to fully reconnect to the network, then check your wifi signal strength in Device Health to confirm it has successfully reconnected.
