Just average
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro - Camera quality is fine. You don’t need a subscription for basic camera functionality. Con - you have to physically open and close the privacy screen which is an inconvenience. There’s no options to turn off recording/live-view lights that could potentially warn an intruder that they’re being filmed.

Posted .Hi Bigbadwolf.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. At Ring, we understand it is essential to have your Ring Indoor Cam, 2nd Gen online and working properly so you can keep your home secure. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done".
The Ring Indoor Cam, 2nd Gen is compatible with b/g/n wifi networks operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies. High-speed internet is recommended. If your Ring device is far from your wifi router, it may be experiencing connection issues.
Here are a few of the top reasons for poor connectivity:
Your Ring device may be too far from your WiFi router.
Your mobile device has a low signal or poor connection.
Your home wifi connection is poor (or your internet service provider is experiencing high traffic).
To learn more about your device's signal strength, follow these steps:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap “Devices.”
Select the ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the “Device Health” tile.
Scroll to “Signal Strength” under the “Network” section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.
Move your wifi router off the floor.
Walls, floors, and furniture can interfere with or weaken your router's wireless signal. Choose an elevated, central, open location for your wifi router.
Check your mobile device's signal. If your mobile device has one or two bars, this could be causing issues accessing your Ring device. For best results, make sure you're connected to wifi from wherever you are.
Most internet service providers range from 100–400 mbps (megabytes per second) for download speed and 10–100 mbps for uploading. If your wifi speed is falling below the ranges noted above, we recommend contacting your internet service provider.
With a Ring Home Plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings from your Ring devices to your Ring account. Without a Ring Home Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.

The blue light is mighty distracting
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works really well and the quality of the audio and videos are really good. The tradeoff is the blue light it uses for the motion sensor tech. It's extremely distracting. Can't use it as a camera for the kids room or it'll wake them up, works really well for our dog room though.

Not worth the money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very convenient product, however, I would not buy it again. The reason for that is that it makes a loud beep when a person is detected, it will say "you are being recorded" and it has a very noticeable blue light. Clearly if I am buying this I do not want someone to know that I am recording what they are doing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of a seamless setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.) right away. The features and technology provided by the Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We are eager to provide you with a solution for the connection concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.) is a small, lightweight security camera with flexible mounting options specifically designed to be used indoors. Indoor Cam features 1080p HD video recording, two-way audio with noise cancellation, a wide viewing angle, a built in siren, and a removable privacy cover. A tone will sound when the cover is secured and active. It is also compatible with connected Echo devices.
The Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.) is designed to work with your home's wifi network and is compatible with b/g/n wifi networks operating on 2.4 GHz frequencies. If you're receiving a 'Setup did not complete' message and cannot finish setup, it could be due to one of these common causes of setup failures:
* Your Ring device is too far from your wifi router. Ideally, your router should be within 20 feet of your Ring device.
* There's a possible problem with your internet connection.
* There's a possible issue related to your wifi modem or router.
Make sure your wifi router is off the floor.
Walls, floors, and furniture can interfere or weaken your router’s wireless signal. Choose an elevated, central, open location.
Make sure you're entering the correct password. Passwords are case sensitive and do not include spaces. Your network password can often be found on the bottom or side of your router.
Wifi passwords are case and special character (such as *,@,$, or #) sensitive. Double check letter capitalization and placement.
If you haven't changed your wifi password since your router was installed, it may be on a sticker on the underside of your router.
Connect other devices to your wifi network using your last remembered password to verify it is still correct.
If you have multiple networks or a wifi extender, confirm you are connecting to the correct one.
Make sure to connect to the 2G (2.4 GHz) network, not 5G (5 GHz). All Ring devices can connect to 2.4 GHz, while only select Ring devices have Dual-Band Wifi to be able to connect to either.
If you’re still having issues, try holding down the reset button on top of the camera for 20 seconds. Before you reset your device, make sure to download any videos in your account.
We invite you to reach out to our Community if any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.). Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.) to record clear and concise videos so that you can effectively monitor your home. The features and technology provided by the Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to ensure that your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the audio concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected in regards to audio. We are happy to share some tips with you to help you troubleshoot why your Ring device may be experiencing warped sound or no audio. Make sure the external volume is up on your mobile device (on the device where you're viewing your Ring videos or "Live View"). If your phone or tablet has poor service or internet, it could be affecting "Live View" or your video downloads. Try turning Bluetooth off, then open "Live View" or view a recorded Ring video.
We also recommend making sure that the area around the device is open. If you have the Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.) on a shelf or in a corner where it may be surrounded, move it so that there are no obstacles blocking the area around the device.
Poor wifi can often cause Ring device issues, including capturing audio. We recommend following these steps in the Ring app: Tap the top menu (☰), then Devices. Choose your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. Tap "Device Health." Under the "Network" section, you'll see your device's "Signal Strength." If your "Signal Strength" (RSSI) is amber or red, your Ring device likely has a poor connection to your location's wifi. Try moving your wifi router closer to your Ring device. Open "Live View" in the Ring app and see if your Ring device's microphone is enabled. Open the Ring app. Tap the top menu (☰), then "Devices." Choose your Ring Video Doorbell Wired. Tap the "Live View" button. Check to make sure the microphone icon is enabled. You can also press the green phone icon. If you have a Ring Protect subscription, you can view the recording to see what the audio sounds like.
We invite you to reach out to our community if any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Indoor Cam (2nd Gen.). It sounds like your device is having some connectivity issues. You can troubleshoot poor audio or video quality in Live View by making adjustments to your router. Here are the most common reasons you may be experiencing audio or video quality issues:
If Live View audio and video are poor but recordings are okay:
There could be a poor connection between your mobile device and the server.
There could be a connectivity issue between your Ring doorbell or security camera and the router.
If both Live View and recordings have poor audio and video:
There could be an issue with the wifi signal or data loss.
There could be an issue with your router’s settings.
Audio and video issues while in Live View could also be due to the placement of your router in relation to your device. If it’s behind a couch, in a closet, or otherwise obstructed, try moving it to a new location to get a stronger signal.

Flimsy
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish audio or 2 way talk worked better. You can barely hear anything it’s more of a phone call audio than a speaker one. Camera quality is good but could be better. Pay for what you get.

We are happy to share some tips with you to help you troubleshoot why your Ring device may be experiencing warped sound or no audio. Make sure the external volume is up on your mobile device (on the device where you're viewing your Ring videos or Live View). If your phone or tablet has poor service or internet, it could be affecting Live View or your video downloads. Try turning Bluetooth off, then open Live View or view a recorded Ring video.
Poor wifi can often cause Ring device issues, including capturing audio. We recommend following these steps in the Ring app:
Tap the top menu (☰), then Devices.
Choose your Doorbell or Camera device.
Tap the Device Settings tile.
Tap Device Health. Under the Network section, you'll see your device's Signal Strength. If your Signal Strength (RSSI) is amber or red, your Ring device likely has a poor connection to your location's wifi.
Try moving your wifi router closer to your Ring device.
Open Live View in the Ring app and see if your Ring device's microphone is enabled.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the top menu (☰), then Devices. Choose your Doorbell or Camera device. Tap the Live View button. Check to make sure the microphone icon is enabled.
You can also press the green phone icon. If you have a Ring Protect subscription, you can view the recording to see what the audio sounds like.
Check your audio privacy settings You may have your audio settings turned off for privacy reasons.
Open the Ring app.
Tap the top menu (☰), then Devices.
Choose your Doorbell or Camera device.
Tap the Device Settings tile.
Tap Privacy Settings.
Make sure Audio Streaming and Recording is enabled.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This security camera works great during the day. However, its performance in the night or where there is very little light leaves much to be desired. I guess you get what you paid for.
