No AC Power Plug Included

I purchased it to upgrade an older HDTV. I don't even know if the unit will power up since it DOES NOT COME WITH AN AC POWER CORD! It only comes with a USB power cable. My older HDTV is not equipped with a USB power outlet and neither does any other component in the system I want to use this with. This Roku is not 4K and can only be used with a standard HDTV. As most TVs are 4K these days, that means that this unit will be install primarily on older HDTVs. A product design that assumes the availability of a USB power outlet on TVs that didn't have that feature yet is a fatal flaw. This means that you have to buy an AC adapter if you want to use this unit. Best Buy does not sell this adapter and the Roku website is sold out. This is my first experience with Roku and it is a complete fail on their part. This is the first time I've ever bought a product that wasn't ready to use right out of the box. Forcing people to have to go back and buy an accessory item just to plug the product into an AC outlet is an unforgivable omission and hassle. My first impression of Roku is that they are a rinky-dink outfit too chinsey to supply what you need for their product to work!

Please know that each Roku player will have different power requirements. The power adapter was removed from the 2022 Roku Express because the player is low power enough to be powered by nearly any TV via the TV's USB port. Removing the power adapter also helps reduce clutter and hanging cords. In the meantime, use a regular power adaptor that you believe works and check it. The remote should be considerably less to purchase rather than buy a whole new system when I did not need a new system.

Not worth it

Also, this remote will not turn on/off tv or adjust volume, so you need to get the upgraded remote if you only what one remote.

HDMI to RCA adapter - older TV use of Roku Express

The adaptor is RCA to HDMI but the needed is the reverse, HDMI to RCA. So, I can not review the Roku Express. I had knee surgery and can not get back to the store for solving the issue.

Roku Express Is a Total Disaster

While watching, playing back a recording, and sometimes just for nothing, it cuts off and returns to the home screen. Then you have to make your way back to your streaming service and the show you were watching, which takes forever. Don't ever pause, fast forward, or rewind on a recording, or it is sure to cut out and return to the home screen. Evidentally, this is a common problem that people complain about on line (just check it out for yourself), and Roku simply doesn't care or bother to respond. I've since bought a Fire Stick to replace Roku and it works beautifully, even has voice commands, and it's cheaper. DO NOT BUY THIS ROKU PRODUCT!!!

Got this version and it was a dowgrade big time. Remote is cheap and you have to point it directly at the little tiny box or it wont work at all. Not as good of quality as original. Disappointment was big with this purchase.

Best Buy return policy is 15 days, BTW

I was inside 30 days… but would not take… look at your receipt closely. I will remember that when buying the next time.

Very disappointing.

I pulled it out today to use it and the remote does not work. No way to contact Roku on their website. Only online information for help. I tried everything about the remote recommended and it states as a last resort to buy another remote. Go to the website and remotes are $20.00. Might as well buy another Roku for that much. Lousy support wit Roku.

bad remote right out of the box

This thing comes with a cheaper type of remote that they say only works if you point it right at the device. Mine didnt work under any circumstances. I pointed it at the device, on the device, to the left, to the right, underneath, up above, on top...nothing. new batteries didnt fix it, Could find no way to reprogram it, no button inside to push and make that happen. garbage. I had an older unused Roku remote around the house that i could program to work. That is what I am using for now
