    I have a TCL Roku television. The USB cord doesn’t fit into the HDMI slot on the back of the tv.

      Hi Cecelia, thanks for reaching out. Please know that the Roku Express uses two cords to power the device. The HDMI cord plugs into the HDMI port on your TV and the USB power cable goes into the TV's USB port. If your TV is not equipped with a USB port, you can use a power adapter and plug this cable directly into the wall.     Doesn't work well for travel

    I bought this for the price and size, and feel I've made a terrible mistake on both accounts with this purchase. I bought this exclusively as a travel streaming device, not wanting to deal with streaming sticks; and unless you're in a hotel without a captive portal for Internet access it flat doesn't work. I succeeded exactly one time using its captive portal support with an iPhone, twice with an Android (meaning I connected to the WiFi network it sets up called Direct-Roku-something or other AND got a browser to open the captive portal), never with a windows laptop. Another negative is you can't cast to this device, it is too skimpy to support casting. If you get lucky enough to have a network without a captive portal, you better have a ton of patience. Click a button, it appears to not have caught it with its narrow IR sensor, move the remote a bit click the same button, move the remote again, click the same button, start to feel maybe you should reboot it for the 3rd time tonight and all the sudden all three clicks go through in a second and you're no where near what you were trying to accomplish. With all that said, occasionally when the stars align and I have 20 minutes to wait for button clicks to accomplish something, it succeeds in streaming video, so thus two stars.

    I purchased this device not knowing exactly what to expect but it’s easy enough to use and streaming choices okay only big drawback is no volume control.

    The Roku is easy to use streaming system. Affordable, easy to install. Highly recommend. Even a tech scared gramma can us.

    No where near as good of programming as the built-in units. The remote decides when and what you can watch at random some times. Overall fits the need, but disappointed in it's use ability.

    This system often requires the user to do a power cycle reboot. (Un plug, wait 20 sec, plug back in) Annoying features: The adhesive holding the receiver fails easily. The remote is VERY basic. No numbers/ letters, very few icons to identify what a button does. It takes getting used to especially when initial registration requires typed information like passwords.

    I don't know if I have installed it correctly. Was going to try streaming & Spectrum couldn't get it or I couldn't > have given Spectrum back their box! Guess the next step is to purchase an antenna & attach it to tge "smart" tv as I'm so frustrated with the cost of Spectrum vs what you get that I turned of tv part. Will see what bill looks like... Most of the issue is I am not nor do I feel comfortable with all the technology AND I have no one to walk me through or setup.

    I found the Roku Express to be limited in function and capabilities. Okay for that TV not used often. For a few dollars more, I would recommend the Roku Streaming stick. I have since purchased two of the current model which supports voice (not on the Express), Apple Airplay (not on the express), and the remote is not line of site (the express requires line of site).

    I’m really disappointed with the remote control because it DOES NOT have a power button on it.. I have to unplug the roku stick after I’m done watching T.V. everytime which is a huge inconvenience. Had I known before, I would have NEVER purchased it... I should return it.

    Really disappointed that we were told that the difference between this and other devices was the speed. Honestly I don’t even notice the difference. We have 3 other roku’s. The reality is you’re going to have to use Two remotes most/all the time to turn on/off tv and to control the volume. Wish this was noted on the box.

    This is got the express HD: It works fine when it wants to. There has been times where the device will start to flicker about and then stop. But when it does and you try to select something to watch, an error pops up stating that the hdmi cord is not compatible with the device. The hdmi cord that came with the device is not compatible. I have used different cords and it'll work fine for the time being. From what I read in their forums, you have to purchase a newer cord in order to view videos. It's Roku's end to just modify a code to have it run new and old cords. Fortunately, if you have patience you can sort of wait it out until it fixes itself to view videos. Happened to me at least 3 times out of the month, so I'm not too upset about it. I have one for my parents and they haven't experience this issue at all since 2018 and they're using the hdmi cord that came with the device. But I am only one person, so don't let it deter you

    Unless I'm an idiot (may be possible...), I see NO WAY to use the remote to POWER ON or OFF my TV, nor does it control VOLUME...so DON'T throw out your remote for your TV. You'll need both. If I'm doing something wrong, please let me know.

    Not happy at all. Roku's features only work on the Roku channels, Not Netflix, Prime or any others. Recently to remote is not working. When you try to surf through the menu, the menu will not stop scrolling.

    The remote with this unit doesn't have power or audio controls for the TV which is a definite inconvenience. Also, we use YouTube TV, and the Roku interface is poor for that app.

    I already had a Roku 3 for over 3 yrs,and its been great,So the Express was not even close,I returned it and got a great deal on an Ultra with all the bells and Whistles. Think I paid $49.99 couple years a go?

    This Roku streaming device is not user friendly. It has no volume control. You have to use the TV remote to turn on and turn off the TV.
