Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the 34” ViewFinity CJ791 monitor's large screen size, Thunderbolt connectivity, and ease of setup. Many appreciate the built-in speakers and sleek design, while the curved screen and high resolution also receive positive feedback. However, some users note that the sound quality could be improved, and the stand's stability and port selection are areas for potential enhancement. The price-to-performance ratio is generally considered favorable.

After trying multiple combinations to create an appropriate digital workspace, I contemplated adding a widescreen display. I did some research and encountered this model. As a Samsung display loyalist, I decided to give this one a whirl, sight unseen outside of research. I am quite pleased with the results in creating a large digital worktable that can accomplish the myriad of tasks associated with my workflows. While I cannot fully recommend this for video editing for true color display, I have found all features suitable for web conferencing, office productivity, and PhD research.

    Samsung Ultra wide thunderbolt monitor!

This monitor works perfectly with both my Mac and my PC. The thunderbolt 3 connection allows me to use a single cable to connect my computer to the monitor. I am getting mouse, keyboard, external storage, internet, power and audio all through a single thunderbolt (USB type C) connection. The display quality is fantastic and very responsive. I am also very impressed with how Samsung designed the cable management channel along the back of the stand which hides the cables as they route down to the desk. The bud power delivery is plenty to operate and charge my 2018 MacBook Pro 15 inch all while still providing plenty of power to all of the other devices connected to it. Note: to get internet pass through, I bought a USB C Ethernet and USB 3.0 type A dongle that I plugged into the second thunderbolt port in the back of the monitor. The Mac recognizes they Ethernet connection and immediately takes me online at 940 Mbps. I highly recommend this monitor for anyone who wants a great looking, fast, bright, HD monitor with all the benefits of having a dual monitor setup without having 2 separate monitors. Also if you don’t feel like plugging and unplugging all these different cables every time you want to take your computer away from the desk, this is a great solution! Enjoy!

    Nice Complement to Mac Mini

Monitor looks great paired with the Mac Mini. Easy set up and factory specs are fine out of the box. The Eye Saver Mode is somewhat washed but not sure if it is supposed to be so or there is an issue with it. The noticeable issue I have is the gap between the black frame and bezel. As seen from the photos, light is emitted. This is either poor workmanship or it was damaged prior to it being packaged. Working with Best Buy to sort this out.

Been enjoying my new QLED curved monitor from Samsung for just over a month, and it's doing nothing short of fulfilling my expectations! Great picture quality, amazing size and compatibility; even the sound quality is impressive for 8-watt speakers. Overall, happy with my purchase and Best Buy's store pickup process.

The main reason I decided to go with this monitor was because of the thunderbolt 3 capability which will charge, display, and transfer data from my MacBook Pro. I wanted to get a monitor that would be somewhat future proof as technology continues to change. Here are the main things I like and dislike about the monitor. Pros: 1) Ultra sharp picture 2) Can have 3 full size windows size by side (great for enhancing productivity) 3) I can charge and display my Macbook with thunderbolt 3 connection Cons: 1) My laptop doesn't support 100hz refresh for external display so I can't take advantage of that feature (not the fault of Samsung) 2) The Samsung screen splitting software isn't compatible with Mac OS. 3) I wish there were more usb 3.0 ports. 2 is hardly enough.

I was hesitant to replace my dual monitors with a single screen. I am on a mac and use the multiple desktop features (multiple desktops I can swipe through on each monitor) heavily so I knew it would impact my workflow. Totally worth it. It serves as a reliable hub for laptop, so much faster to log-in than the software I relied on previously (Display Link) to handle the dual monitors. Most importantly, it got rid of glitch issues caused by that software. For me, the only negative is that it requires more space than expected behind the stand's monitor so the monitor ends up sitting further forward on my small desk than I would prefer. I bought mine on sale for around half it's normal cost so can't complain, but I would have a hard time justifying the full price. If it ever goes on sale again, I will be buying more for my staff.

The monitor is great for the price point. My 2017 MacBook Pro looks excellent on this thing. Great monitor for both work and gaming. I can fit 3 documents easily on the screen, and comb through multiple excel documents at once. There is no issue with clarity of text on them as well. The speakers work well for a monitor speakers. If you can get this monitor on sale under $600 at the time of writing, you are getting a great deal. Aesthetically, this monitor pairs up well with my silver Mac keyboard, and harman kardon soundstick 4 speakers for a great setup.

Don't do it if you switch inputs a lot.

I purchased this monitor shortly after it came out in March of 2019 despite some of the early reviews saying that it was a pain the way that it scanned for sources instead of letting you pick one. I actually thought to myself that one of those reviewers must be pretty picky. Wow was I wrong! This thing drives me nuts! First let me say that I am a Software Engineer that works from home. I have a work laptop and a personal laptop. The company I work for is very particular (rightly so for security, etc.) of what its employees do with their work laptop, so I swap them out at least once a day, usually more. It drives me absolutely insane that it will switch from USB-C to another input instantly so I have to waste 45 seconds or more each time waiting for it to scan. Plus of course it will stop on each of the other active inputs. It is also not energy star rated so if I just close my laptop an forget to turn it off, I will see the slight glow when I walk by my office during the night. All of that being said, if you don't switch inputs frequently or use only one it is a good monitor, so I have to give it a high quality rating. I use a whole house HDMI distribution system, so the HDMI input always has a replication of every other TV in the house so if I often use the pic in pic when I go from the living room and want to continue what I was watching w/o pulling up the content in a browser. Works great for that but I do wish that it had an additional HDMI input for when I am working on a Raspberry PI or something. I have a manual HDMI switch attached to the back to switch HDMI source. I would give it 4 stars for sure if I had the option to manually switch inputs from the UI, which I could do much faster than its "automatic" scan. I debated giving it 2 stars just due to the input selection, but mine is probably not the typical use case.

I absolutely love this monitor. I bought it on sale and probably would have passed on it at full price, but i am extremely happy with what i got. It's worth full price, and if you happen to be looking at this while it's on sale, do yourself a favor and buy it. Extraordinary performance, the extra width over the 33 inch monitors is invaluable, love the adjustable height and tilt, but sometimes its the little things that make the difference, like the fact that i can rapidly charge my phone or ipad with the USB connection, freeing up an outlet on the surge protector.

Perfect TB 3 Monitor - Except for the Flickering

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Connected Device: Lenovo Yoga C940 (with 2 Thunderbolt 3 Ports) OS: Windows 11 Cable: Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Cable This monitor is beautiful, looks great, and is everything I would want: (great size, love the curved screen, love the ultra-wide, love the resolution, decent refresh rate, and most importantly - Thunderbolt 3 compatible) - but to cut to the point - this screen flickers, a lot, and is ultra-noticeable, and ultra-annoying. The screen flickering is not constant, but rather, intermittently. I would say on average, the flicker is about once every ten minutes. It's definitely enough that I constantly notice it. And keep in mind that in any monitor I've ever owned I've never had a screen flicker at all (including my $200 monitor that I had before this one). I have tried just about all I can think to do to rectify the screen flickering issue: 1) updated any related drivers (graphics card, Thunderbolt 3 etc); 2) Played with Refresh Rate coming from graphics card - I tried 60, I tried 100 (100Hz would match what the monitor's refresh rate is). 3) Bought a more premium Thunderbolt 3 cable and tried that instead of the one that came with the monitor. 4) I tried connecting the laptop to the monitor with a USB-C to HDMI adaptor - issue still present with that set up. 5) I tried plugging the power source of the monitor to be in a stand-alone outlet (versus being in a surge protector with other devices). 6) I also did contact Samsung support which overall wasn't very helpful / did not remediate the issue. No matter what I tried, the result is the same - intermittent flickering. This screen would have been absolutely perfect for me without the screen flickering. But because of this, I think it's best for me to return the monitor and look for something else. Throwing this kind of money down for a monitor that flickers is just unacceptable to me.

The good: At first glance, beautiful monitor, solid materials, easy to hook up to 2 laptops and charged a MacBook Pro 13 via thunderbolt. Good price for size, aspect ratio, and resolution. The bad: Unfortunately, the toggle nub on the back of the monitor that navigates through the menu was damaged on arrival and could not select left. Ended up returning as this makes it very difficult (ie almost impossible) to switch inputs or adjust monitor settings. Other issues: The top bezel where the screen meets the plastic casing was uneven so that it looked like there was extra material budging up slightly out of the monitor housing. Just an imperfection in manufacturing that is annoying since its in direct line of sight when using the monitor. At this price point, arguably unacceptable. I didn't fiddle with it too much (button issue) nor research it deeply, but although PBP/PIP mode works fine, there isn't a good internal KVM and switching monitor/keyboard between connected computers wasn't intuitive (assuming its possible). Be prepared, the powerbrick is huge.

My wife absolutely LOVES this monitor. When she had to start working from home daily due to COVID-19, this was something she needed. She is PM and uses multiple screens/files and needs to be able to see them all at one time and this screen does just that. One screen replaces 2-3 monitors with ease. Sleek design, clean and crisp picture and easy to set up. She get compliments on this screen when friends come over and see it in her office.

Took a while to decide, but decided to take the plunge. I am not a gamer. Instead I bought this to use for work and for personal use. Mainly needed wider screen to cover multiple windows (web, streaming, excel and pdf reading). Pairing it with screen manager makes my work much more efficient. I got used to the curvature very quickly. Display quality is good.
