    Did not clean my clothes

I replaced my old Maytag HE front loader with the Samsung HE top loader. Appliance salespeople in all the stores I visited said the new top loaders performed as good as front loaders so i decided to try it. My first load of colored bath towels smelled moldy and sour even after drying. My load of white men's underwear and socks were dingy and looked like they had not been washed at all. My black clothes on a gentle wash and low spin came out with white gunk on them and hair and lint everywhere. I called Best Buy and it would take a week for them to come out and look at it. Because it was my 30th day i decided to go into the store and get a replacement. I had a choice of a new brand of washer or the same Samsung. I decided on the same Samsung. The second Samsung had the same exact problems. I did extensive research over the next few days and decided on an LG front loader. So far so good but I have only had it a few days.

This unit was purchased to replace a very old Maytag Washer unit that finally died. We have enjoyed every Samsung product we have purchased to date, so it made sense to continue with their products. We are quite happy with this purchase to say the least. Fit and function, like most Samsung products, is great. The user interface is fairly intuitive and so becomes easy to use after a cycle or two. The basin is quite large and the machine determines how much water to use automatically. Selectable water temperatures, spin cycles and laundry soil are easy to do. The machine is quiet on all cycles and vibration is minimal, it even sings to you when it is done. The direct drive means there are few parts to break. The negatives are few, the biggest being that the cycles are slow; nothing seems to take less than about an hour to wash. And while the user interface becomes intuitive, you will need to read the manual to understand what all the display images means and how to unlock the machine once the cycles start.

Unbalanced load, followed by loud banging & water

Purchased this product over 2 years ago after looking at reviews. The product worked as advertised for 2 years. The cycles are longer than previous non-HE washers, but that was not a problem. Six months ago the washer showed error code: nd (no drain). The tub was full of water. I manually drained the tub and found that a wire had disconnected from the drain pump during the spin cycle. I attributed the error to an unbalanced load and reconnected and recrimped the wire to the drain pump, which is attached to the bottom of the tub. I had the same problem less than 2 months later. I repaired the issue again and a third time another month later. Two weeks ago while I was home there was an unbalanced load of 1 flat sheet and two towels in the load and the washer made a new sound: breaking plastic. Somehow the drain pump housing broke while the tub was agitating. I looked up a replacement part to find out there was a KNOWN Samsung issue with the placement of the drain pump. There was a new pump with new wiring and a new harness to move the pump off of the bottom of the tub. I looked at other reviews to find a WEALTH of individuals who have this product and all the new reviews are the same: 2 years and a faulty drain pump problem and no warranty or replacement help. Those who have done the pump replacement still report problems. I'm looking elsewhere for my new washer; I suggest you do the same.

    I don't understand the complaints

So far so good! We've had our machine for a couple of months now and we love it! The complaints I'm hearing is that the machine doesn't wash clothes, or people don't like the longer time, or people don't like the lock on the door. I don't understand. First of all people READ the INSTRUCTIONS! My clothes come out much cleaner than my old machine and it uses less water. If I were to venture a guess I'd say the "my machine doesn't wash my clothes" people forgot the part about running the Pure Cycle when it flashes. About every 20 washes right? I've had no issues and I've used the Pure Cycle more than once now. In reference to the comments about the lock on the lid, you can still open the lid to add more clothes...you just pause the cycle and do what you need to do then restart the machine. I've done this and it doesn't make you start over. In terms of the longer wash times, I don't mind it a bit! why? I only have to run my dryer once to dry whatever's been in the washer. It works so much better than having a washer finish early then leaving the clothes sitting in it until your dryer finishes. This is a quiet and efficient machine and it works well for me. Just read the instructions gang. If you aren't willing to read them then you aren't ready for technology.

Good product for a decent price. BestBuy installation could have been better by a child. Installer didn't know that washers were a must in the hose connections. All he knew was to use pliars to tighten everything beyond reason and get out before anybody discovered the connections leaking. I might buy from them again, however, I do my own installation. Easier and less mess to clean up. PITIFUL SERVICE!!!!!!!

The washing machine works great at this point, about six weeks on from purchase. I haven't yet seen an electric bill that I can compare to last year to get a sense of any energy savings, nor have I seen a water bill. Love that the clothes get a really nice spin on them -- our previous washer was an older style and they came out more than damp after spinning. Only real complaint is that if you want the machine to use cold water and cold water only, you have to make sure all the water lights are off -- you have to plow through the manual for this info and most people won't do it so it would be nice if the display were more obvious about it.

This product for the price was amazing. I was very surprised when I got it in the house and actually started to use it. Saw it in the store and was ok with it when I saw it but then once I was actually able to use it I found that it did everything that I needed it to do and did it very well. This product doesn't have all of the bells and whistles that some of the higher end ones have but honestly when would you need some of those things. For the price this was an excellent or should I say BEST Buy.

    Great washer except

I loved this washer. Cleaned the clothes great until I put a larger blanket in it. Not sure what happened but I have washed this same blanket in my much small washer with no problems. It melted parts of the blanket (washed in cold water) and did something to the rim of the washer. Really strange! I do have another washer on the way so hopefully this one works out great. I hate to give it only 3 stars but the blanket being melted and shredded did it for me.

Nice transition from a front loader

When my LG front loader crapped out, I was looking for a top loader that would hold a lot. After reviewing the LG version of this, I decided to go with something with the controls on the back instead of the front where they could easily get wet from laundry. I ran a few loads with no issues. I can't tell if the clothes are being agitated very well without the glass lid (didn't want to pay nearly $100 more just to see in). I pause it a lot and look in to make sure the clothes are covered in water, which they seem to be. My first problem, though, was when I ran two blankets. It wouldn't spin out without issues. Then I tried to just spin after manually rearranging, but it kept trying to drain/refill. Finally it spun only and I got them done. Haven't done many more blankets since, but I suspect that not being a front loader will always create balance issues with blankets. It may not have been leveled correctly. Unfortunately this machine has no straight corners or anything to place a bubble level on it. You're supposed to put a little water in the bottom and eyeball the drum. We spent 10 minutes on that and never could tell if it was level. The bleach "dispenser" which is really only a cup with a hole in it. There is no fill line so you are forced to measure it out. It drains down into the drum. When I called customer service to find out how much bleach to use, they were clueless. They were even going to send a repair man out because they seemed to think it was missing a part (they kept saying - fill to the fill line, and when I told them there was none, they said it was missing a part. But that's the way this model is - no dispenser, just a cup.) The drum is very very deep. I'm 5'6" and I have to get on my tippy toes to reach the bottom. But it holds a lot and I like that it doesn't have the agitator (I think). I use the pre-soak feature a lot. Even though it adds time to the load, I feel like it will be cleaner. My only other beef is the tones when it's finished. I can't hear them cause they tend to blend in with the tv/radio more than my LG did. Perhaps I just need to get used to their sound. Overall, it seems like a good washer. It's very quiet and has all the features I need.

Good entry level High Effeciency washer. Very quiet. Seems to clean very well. Spin cycle gets almost all the water out so your dryer doesn't have to work as long. Also plays a nice little tune when it's finished.

Works as expected, granted I've only had it for about 3 weeks now. Easy to use. Not noisy even though it sits in my kitchen and not in an isolated laundry room. No agitator is great since the wash is more gentle on delicate clothing. The recommended HE detergent is not preferred, just more sticky to use, but not a big deal.

I previously had the high end front load LG washer and hated it. This Washing machine is very quiet, but compared to the front load it is quiet a bit slower in the normal wash cycle. In my line of work my cloths get greasy and dusty, this washer does a good job getting the cloths clean and handles a large load very well.

This unit was set for display mode so after hooking it up it would not work. I had to figure out how to reset the circuit board in order to get the washer functional. That was quite disappointing, thought I was going to have to return it.

So far excellent washer for the price...this Samsung replaced a brand new Whirlpool (WTW4800BQ which we bought since had good reviews). that had very poor performance regarding spin and rinse (or useless). This Samsung washer works well so far, no complaints, but note we have been using it for 2 weeks. If anything changes, then the review could change. The price at Bestbuy was also better than its competitors in the area and the online retailers as well.

It's easy to load, because it has no center agitator. The digital readout tells exactly how long the wash will take. There are lots of settings to customize the cycle, BUT there is also a Custom Wash (programmable) button to quickly select your favorite variables. And best of all it plays a little tune when the wash is done, not an annoying tune but a sweet little musical phrase....I love technology that adds a little value to your day.

the washer makes some funky noises like it doesn't have enough power when it goes thru its cycles but overall the washer does a nice job and less drying time for my clothes, so I would purchase a Samsung product again.

Doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but meets my families needs. The only problem I have had is the fabric softener tray does not dispense at the proper time...it drains immediately into dry laundry before wash starts. I'm still waiting for a replacement tray that could take up to 7weeks...Samsung customer service thinks the tray is defective and they won't send a repairman out until I try the new part...so much for a new washer functioning properly. Except for the hopefully isolated defective tray & poor responsiveness from Samsung to repair, this is a good value machine.

I was skeptical about my purchase decision with the first load due to the time it took to complete the wash cycle, 91 minutes. I have now mastered the settings and am very pleased with the results.
