Samsung S90C OLED Review: My 1st OLED Experience

Hello Everyone, Today I will be writing my honest review of the Samsung 65-inch S90C OLED TV. Before I say anything, I just want everyone who will be reading this my review to know that this is my first OLED TV. Whatever I say, good or bad, will be my own opinion based on things I experienced or noticed while watching shows, movies, or playing video games on this S90C TV. Before purchasing the Samsung S90C OLED TV, I was using a 2021 55-inch Hisense U8H TV, which, in my opinion, another very good tv with great black levels. The three reasons I replaced my Hisense U8H with this Samsung S90C are really very simple, I needed to experience what OLED technology is since every review site had great things to say, another reason was I needed a 65-inch TV, and the last reason was the deal or the price that bestbuy was offering ($999.99 for a Samsung QD-OLED 65-inch, which i have personally never seen). Now I'll break my review down into small sections like Design, Sound, etc. Design: I personally like it alot. It is very thin so be extremely careful before taking it out of the box. I would recommend put it on a table and then put the stand on the tv. I would also recommend have another person help you and try not to hold it from the screen. Stand: No screws required which is a plus in my opinion. It is a little wobbly, but I am pretty sure it is not going anywhere and I'm sure many of the people will be wallmounting it. Reflections: To my surprise this tv handles reflections really well. Sound: Not the greatest. I was not expecting a "WOW" experience from the tv speakers and I don't think anyone should because tvs nowadays are just so thin. I hooked up my soundbar. Also, I would recommend to everyone to buy a nice soundbar for yourself to really enjoy the experience. Aoundbar doesn't have to be super expensive. Picture Quality: Honestly the best part of this tv is the Picture Quality whether it is in SDR or HDR. I am simply SURPRISED, SHOCKED, & BLOWN AWAY how beautiful the picture is. How beautiful the colors are! The blacks are deep and it is because it is an OLED, if there is a small dot on the screen then only that will be lighted and everything around will be deep black. Everything I've watched on my S90C so far, it has managed to surprise me with everything. I am very much enjoying watching tv or playing games on this tv. Now the upscaling of the old content is not on the same level of Sony (I do own a old 2017 Sony LCD X900f as well), but it is not that far behind either. This S90C is honestly the best tv I've owned so far and I fear it will be very difficult in the future to go buy anything other than an OLED. Gaming: Gaming is truly a wonderful experience on this tv. It pretty much supports all the features! You can read about gaming and input lag on Rtings website. Cons: Now this tv is not perfect, just like every tv on the market is not. Since it is an OLED there is a chance for Burn-in, even though they have implemented different things to prevent the burn-in, it can still happen if you watch alot of stuff with static images and constantly watch the same content. Another issue that i experienced during watching movies or playing games is the alignment of the screen, at first I thought I got a defective unit then I started searching and read different forums and found the solution and also discovered it is not really an issue. Basically, what happens is that when you are watching something either right side of the screen, or left or the top will seem uneven and show slightly more black borders, but after a while it adjusts. Now what is happening is the "pixel refresh" a feature that samsung implemented to prevent burn-in and every OLED TV Manufacturers implement it on their tv, but I guess samsung is a little aggressive on it. I don't notice it as much and it does not bother me. I can turn it off but not going to if it is going to protect my tv from Burn-In. Final Thoughts: I would 100% recommend this tv to everyone and I already did to many of my family members and some of them were also lucky enough to buy it in time. Last I checked it is no longer in stock. But you can still buy the 2024 model S90D, which I've heard is slightly better and also brighter than S90C. Thank you for taking the time to read my review of the Samsung 65-inch S90C OLED TV. Good Luck with your tv purchasing!

I did a lot of research before purchasing this OLED TV and I have not been disappointed. Pros: Outstanding Picture, Black is absolutely black, the colors are vibrant (as you would expect from a OLED screen and the entire reason for buying one), Remote Control is rechargeable via USB C cable or solar (yes that is nice). Lots of Smart TV Content including the Samsung Channel. You can set up the TV to return to the previous content when you power ON the TV, a nice feature that works most of the time (Youtube TV has it's issues, but that is the Youtube TV app, not the TV). Example: Watching Pluto Stargate channel, power off the TV, power on the TV the following day, Pluto comes back up to the Stargate channel. I was impressed with the overall sound quality, minus a few cons listed below. Back to the picture quality, the brightness is very good, I actually do not notice much of a difference from my previous TV. Cons: Very small remote (just like a Fire Stick remote), and few buttons. The remote Volume Up/Down and Channel Up/Down buttons are short toggle up/down switches and if you accidentally press the Volume straight down, it mutes the TV. Larger fingers will find this difficult to hold and use. I do not like the remote. I have an older Samsung remote control that has a ton of buttons and is easy to physically use, and I have easy access to features that I'd otherwise have to jump through a few screens using the original remote. So the remote is a con for me, skinny fingers will probably like it. The screen thickness is flimy, easy to bend even though the back is made of a metal sheet. There are special instructions on how to handle this screen, otherwise you can break the display so my advice, use two people and follow the instructions. So it's not very rugged is my point. I would rather have a slightly thicker screen that was more ridged to resist damage. Moving this TV with one person, while I did do it (and I'm 62 years of age), it was difficult due to the weight and flimsy screen. The audio, while most of the time is fine, will often drop to a whisper level. This becomes irritating when a movie starts out at a comfortable level and then you are straining to hear some scenes. Audio "Auto Level" does not appear to work very well, at least for me. My previous TV never had this issue and I'm watching the same type of content. Maybe it's a Dolby Atmos issue? I dropped the audio from 5 starts to 4 stars for this issue, otherwise when you can hear it, the sound is very good. You have some bass which is nice, but don't get carried away, it's not a theater audio system. Keep expectations real. If you have never owned an OLED TV before and are use to an LCD TV, it will take a little getting use to the vibrant colors. If you really examine the human skin tones, they look remarkably accurate. All the other colors are great too, but again, it takes a little getting use to. I have been watching older movies just to be amazed at all that I missed with my older TV's. Just blows your mind. And the disclaimer: If you are not someone who can appreciate this kind of quality picture, I do not recommend you spend your money on this TV. You can by other good quality LCD TV's for less than a third of this TV cost. I have had this TV for about a month now and I'm very impressed overall. I highly recommend this TV model.

I returned my LG C2 when I went into BestBuy and saw the picture on the Samsung S90C. The picture you get with the QD-oled is so much brighter and vibrant than what you can get from a regular oled tv. The picture is bright and great when you have a room with a lot of light. The colors on this thing just pop. I took the S90C home before I returned the LG so I had a couple of days to compare the 2 side by side. I was worried because the Samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision. I watched a few Dolby Vision movies on the Lg (which supports Dolby Vision) and the Samsung. I do not feel like anything looked better on the LG. I had both Tv's settings on filmmaker mode. A couple scenes looked a little different but in my opinion not better with the Dolby vision supported tv. I did like the Lg's webos better than the Samsung's Tizen but with the picture I get on the Samsung I can deal with it. The LG is a awesome tv but this one is just on another level. Even my wife loves it. She usually doesn't care or comment on things like that. She told me she has to watch all her favorite shows over again because of how much more detail she sees on this tv. I play PS5 on this a lot and it is great for gaming. No lag and again the colors just pop. I did have a problem with getting the Samsung TV plus app to work. I found that if you change the dns setting to 8.8.8.8 it works fine. Another nice thing is this tv has smart calibration and you can calibrate it with your android or ios phone. I'm not sure how accurate it is but it did make a noticable difference and the picture looks great. As far as the sound, It is pretty good for tv speakers. The Lg did sound a little better in my opinion. The sound on the samsung is good enough for what we watch. Some may want a soundbar , but for me I don't think it's needed. The panel is thin, almost too thin. I was nervous when moving the tv. The solar powered remote is nice. No more looking for AAA batteries. You can also charge it with a usb-c cable. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the Tizen system. It can be a little slow at times. I noticed that it was really slow when downloading and using the apps for the first time. It seems to load the apps quicker now.

The Samsung 65" Class S90C OLED 4K UHD Smart Tizen TV (2023) is an outstanding addition to any home entertainment setup, offering an impressive combination of cutting-edge technology and stunning picture quality. The OLED display delivers deep, true blacks, exceptional contrast, and vibrant colors, making every scene pop with clarity. Whether you're watching a dark, atmospheric film or a bright, action-packed sports event, the S90C excels in both brightness and shadow detail, with each pixel independently lit for a truly immersive experience. Samsung's Tizen OS ensures a smooth and intuitive smart TV experience, with a user-friendly interface and access to all major streaming platforms, including Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime. The integration of voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Bixby makes navigation even easier, and the overall responsiveness of the TV is quick and seamless. One standout feature is the addition of Samsung's Quantum Dot technology, which boosts color accuracy and brightness, elevating the picture quality even further. The 120Hz refresh rate, coupled with support for HDMI 2.1, makes the S90C a great choice for gamers, offering smooth gameplay and low input lag. The design of the TV is sleek and modern, with ultra-thin bezels and a minimalist stand that complements any living room. The sound quality is decent for built-in speakers, but for a truly immersive audio experience, pairing it with a soundbar is recommended. Overall, the Samsung 65" S90C OLED 4K UHD Smart TV is a top-tier performer that delivers incredible picture quality, a fantastic smart interface, and great all-around features, making it well worth the investment for those seeking a premium TV experience in 2023.

Great choice - the Samsung 65 class S90C OLED Smart TV. I would like to share my review of this model. First, I want to mention the image quality. The OLED screen provides vibrant and saturated colors, deep black levels, and wide viewing angles. The picture is very realistic and sharp, making the viewing of movies and TV shows on this TV a real pleasure. I also want to highlight the smart features of this TV. The built-in Tizen operating system allows easy access to popular streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, and many others. You can also control the TV with voice commands, making it even more convenient to use. The design of the Samsung S90C TV is also worth noting. Its slim body and minimalist design create an elegant and modern look that fits well in any interior. However, it is worth noting that the price of this model may be slightly higher compared to other TVs on the market. Nevertheless, if you value image quality, smart features, and stylish design, then the Samsung 65 class S90C OLED Smart TV is an excellent choice for you. Overall, I am very satisfied with this TV and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a high-quality TV with advanced technologies and stylish design.

Wow I have been missing out. Previous samsung un60js7000 (2015) started to go dim at the bottom half of the screen. Going from led to oled is so much better. Everything is brighter, has more detail, and can handle different settings. HDR and SDR content has been sublime. Their is some mods you can do but I feel you don't have to do it. Gaming on PS5 and computer have been great. I only had one issue on pc at 144hz going to a black screen for a few seconds and audio going in and out. I did not turn on VRR through the nvidia panel yet. I just changed it back to 120hz. I am still messing around with settings to get it dialed in. I calibrated it from a forum site (theirs different ones)The quality is great. I kept all the panel care settings on as I fear the oled burn it. I was going back and forth between this tv and the lg c3 but got a good deal on open box. I also wanted to be future proof on the 144hz vs 120hz.

Top mid range tier tv with some drawbacks. Cloud gaming is a great perk, though sometimes slow to load and with local multiplayer limitations. No Dolby vision support which is hdr content limiting, but the HDR10+ brightness, contrast and color are excellent if you can access the content. Standard definition content upscaled can be low quality but acceptable if you calibrate the picture settings manually. Aside from the filmmaker mode the standard picture settings the tv ships with are unwatchable until calibrated. The picture settings are not easy to access through the menu and remote. The operating system is a little difficult to navigate at times and the remote it comes with is too minimalist as is the style these days. The picture quality is excellent once calibrated. Standard definition content that has been remastered from original film for HD upscales brilliantly. 4K UHD content is breathtaking. Over all I am impressed and happy with the performance and I am an AV pro with a background in live events, video and TV production.

The Samsung S90C OLED TV stands out as a true gem in the ever-evolving world of television technology. Boasting a harmonious blend of quantum dots and OLED panels, this upper-midrange model offers a visual experience that transcends its price point. The TV excels in delivering stunning picture quality, impressive gaming features, and decent audio, making it a formidable competitor against higher-end sets from major manufacturers. Pros: Gorgeous Picture Quality: The marriage of quantum dots and OLED technology results in a visual masterpiece. The S90C delivers rich, precise colors, impeccable brightness, and near-infinite contrast, creating a truly immersive viewing experience. Excellent Gaming Features: With impressively low input lag, HDMI 2.1 support, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Auto Low-Latency Mode (ALLM), the S90C caters to gamers seeking a responsive and visually captivating gaming experience. Decent Audio for a TV: The 40-watt, 2.1 channel sound system supports Dolby Atmos and Object Tracking Sound Lite, providing audio that, while not groundbreaking, surpasses the standard TV audio experience. Equipped with ATSC 3.0 Tuner: Future-proofed with an ATSC 3.0 tuner, the S90C allows users to enjoy 4K over-the-air broadcasts, adding versatility to its entertainment capabilities. Cons: Oversaturated HDR Colors in Standard Mode: The Standard mode exhibits oversaturation in HDR colors, impacting the accuracy of color reproduction. However, this can be mitigated by selecting the appropriate picture mode. TV Interface: While functional, the Tizen smart interface is somewhat clunky, with navigation being less intuitive compared to other interfaces. Design and Build: The S90C impresses not only with its performance but also with its sleek design. Its ultra-thin profile and minimalistic aesthetics make it a visually appealing addition to any living space. Whether wall-mounted or on a stand, the TV exudes style and sophistication. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Samsung S90C OLED TV stands tall as a testament to the advancements in display technology. Offering a captivating visual experience, commendable gaming features, and a sleek design, it outshines its midrange competitors. While a few minor drawbacks exist, the S90C undoubtedly earns its place as one of the best TVs in its price range, delivering exceptional value for the discerning buyer.

TY Best buy for making this easy. This is an upgrade from samsung QLED. I thought i would lose color with the OLED after reading different professional reviews. The color is amazing the picture is crystal clear. Set up was so easy. I am so amazed i went back and bought the 5 yr coverage. I really like the smart hub set up with the tizen os. Much improved from 8 yrs ago. You wont lose brightness that is noticable but you will notice the incredible black. I really like the internet browser at fingertips.

I bought the 77 S90C for 2500 on sale for my bedroom. I also have the 77 Lg C3 in my living room and let me tell you they are both amazing TVs but if you are stuck in between the two TVs maybe because of the Dolby vision don’t! This tv beats the C3 by far. It gets way brighter and has better input lag for gaming. It has 144hz the c3 supports 120hrz. The hdr10+ is stunning and tons of movies support it. Dolby vision isn’t worth the c3 over this. Hope that helps. Also gaming is way better on the S90C than the C3. I have both ps5 and series x. The difference is clear. Samsung for the win this year.

It was one of the best TV purchases I ever made. For the longest while, I held out on going for an OLED TV. The wait was so worth it as this TV is super bright, even in a brightly lit room. Colors really do pop off the TV, depending on your desired picture settings. This TV lacks Dolby Vision, but you would only notice if you had a Dolby Vision capable TV next to it; in the end, that's not much of a make-it-or-break-it deal. Gaming on this TV is fantastic with the 144Hz refresh rate and Samsung's game bar. The sound from the 40w 2.1 Ch down-firing speakers is pretty good, even when listening to Dolby Atmos content, which this TV supports without a soundbar. One detractor I have with this TV is Samsung's TizenOS to navigate the smart features. Sometimes, the menu system can be sluggish in responding to fast input. Otherwise, this TV is an excellent choice for a mid-range OLED that won't break the bank like the step up from this model.

Purchase Experience: Purchasing the Samsung S90 OLED TV was a breeze. The online process was straightforward and user-friendly. Moreover, picking up the TV from a nearby Best Buy warehouse was convenient. It’s commendable how seamlessly the purchase journey was designed. Setup and Design: Upon unboxing, I first noticed the TV's remarkably thin screen. While this adds to its sleek aesthetic appeal, it also calls for extra caution during handling. The setup process was generally smooth, but potential buyers should be mindful of the screen's delicacy. Picture Quality: The Samsung S90 OLED TV truly shines in its display capabilities. The picture quality is nothing short of outstanding. The colors are vivid and pop with life, making every viewing experience immersive. Furthermore, the depth of the blacks is impressive, offering a contrast that elevates the overall visual appeal. It's evident that Samsung has invested significantly in ensuring top-notch display quality for its users. Overall Impression: In my opinion, the Samsung S90 OLED TV stands out as one of the best TVs currently available in the market. Its superior picture quality and ease of purchase make it a worthy investment for entertainment enthusiasts. While it's already an exceptional product, I'm excited about the advancements that Samsung and other tech giants might bring in the future. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase and eagerly anticipate many more hours of immersive viewing.

I can't speak highly enough about this tv. I came from a 40 inch non-smart tv that was so bad to watch or play anything on, I exclusively only played games on my PC. Now that I have this, I only play games on the tv. The quality is beyond works on an Xbox series X in 4k. I was originally in the market for a 48 inch LG C3, then I saw the price on the 55 was a hundred off of the LG 48. THEN, I see the 65 was the same price as the 55 inch S90C, so I'd have been silly to not get it, even if it is for a bedroom. I also never got a soundbar for the tv, but was really pleased with how loud the tv is by itself. This really is the best of the best for your viewing experience and pocket all in one. I've attached a picture of my old tv for a reference, I may add a picture of the new one if I remember. TLDR: Amazing tv for video games and movies, I saw somewhere that brightness was better on the larger tv which I cannot confirm, but the 65 is extremely bright.

The picture quality on such a thin TV is astounding. The refresh rate makes gaming in 4K look so fluid, it honestly felt like I was on a whole new console. With my living room windows open on a sunny day there is no glare on the screen and it’s bright enough to see without issue. You’ll be hard pressed to find a 65” TV with this kind of picture quality for under $1,500.00. I’d recommend looking into a sound bar to top it off as the sound quality isn’t bad but it leaves more to be desired in terms of bass and some deeper sounds.

Extremely clear during the day and the volume level works well for an apartment we are on in the middle floor and we tested it, for how it sounds on the outside of our apartment and it's not too heave on base but loud enough with a decent enough "boom" effect. I love the vibrant colors and the fact that I can have the blinds open and the TV quality is still very clear!!! The reflection is minimal considering the amount of light coming in! I also love that the remote control is solar powered! Which means I leave it with the buttons down and it charges in the sun.

Picture quality is amazing (once you get all the auto clarity and other motion "enhancements" turned off), relatively easy to use, looks great in bright light and also from side angles. Built in speakers are pretty good, to the point where there's no rush to add the complexity of a sound bar. Samsung's wifi TV options are decent as well. Finally, the physical package is incredibly slim. Overall very happy with this purchase!

I love this tv. The picture is great. The colors are so bright. It is easy to use the menu on the smart screen. The remote is very simple to use.

I would recommend this to a friend
