Disappointed

My last TV was great, but when I moved, the movers broke it. They did nothing to resolve this issue, so I decided to buy a new one. They didn't have the same one for sale anymore, so I had to get something else. I read reviews, compared TVs, went to the store to see it in person and finally decided this was the one I wanted. Problem #1 - The user interface is horrible. Maybe I'm not use to it, but the TV and the remote feel like they are on different wave lengths. Lags. Problem #2 - Whatever streaming service I use, the TV has a lag on picture quality. It takes more than 5 seconds to clear up on Netflix. It also has skipped or stopped when watching a show. It lags. Problem #3 - The remote. Not a fan. Problem #4 - The sound is weird. If the house is loud, the volume will automatically get louder. I have looked at videos and tried adjusting sound settings and I have no idea how to stop this from happening. It absolutely drives me insane. Problem #5 - I wanted to mount this TV, but I am unsure how to because it only has two holes, instead of the required 4. I honestly don't like the stand it comes with. I am only one person and I had a hard time putting this up on my TV stand as-is. It's also VERY thin. I'm very nervous to move it. Problem #6 - I hate the screensaver. If you pause a video or movie, the screensaver comes on after 5 seconds. I'm not sure how to turn this off, either. Problem #7 - I guess not really a problem, but a personal preference, but the screen has an orange tint when off. Everything in my house is black, so I expected the TV to be, too. Unfortunately, it throws off my entire aesthetic. Pros - Once the picture clears, it is good quality. The blacks are black! The sound is fine if there aren't any distracting noises for it to pickup. It's the perfect size for my TV stand. I've had it for 4 months now and for the price, I expected more. I'm just overall disappointed that I spent $1500 on a TV that doesn't do what it is suppose to do - work. I give it 3 stars because I like the picture quality. Minus one for functionality / user display issues. Minus another for the price.

To assist in learning the various functions, please know you can download the S90D TV's User Manual, e-Manual, Remote Control Leaflet, and Quick Setup Guide on Samsung's website under Support > Manuals & Software > TVs & Home Theater. You can search for and select the S90D TV to download the guides you would like.
The e-Manual and Remote Guide are both also embedded into your TV itself under Menu > Settings > Support > Open e-Manual.
Please try the following which may help resolve volume fluctuations:
1. Turn off the Sound Sensor switch by using the button at the bottom of the TV, beneath the Samsung logo. With the TV on, you can push the button to the left to turn the sound sensor on or to the right to turn it off.
2. Try disabling some of the TV's intelligent functions, as these will automatically analyze and adjust your sound which may cause your volume to fluctuate. Go to Settings > All Settings > General & Privacy > Intelligent Mode Settings and select Intelligent Mode to turn off all the functions or select each option to turn it off.
3. Please also make sure your TV’s firmware is updated. You can check this by going to: Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.
Lastly, you may also want to further optimize performance with the self-diagnostic tool, which checks memory, frees up unused cached memory, and closes background apps. Go to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Device Care > Start Device Care

Awesome TV held back by interface and remote.

Navigating the menus is a bit wonky. The remote is... not so great. Easily the most sensitive remote I've ever had. Maybe I need to mount it in a stationary position. Because, it's seemingly always in a position for me to accidentally activate Netflix, the Home screen, or another random button. Basically, this TV just needs a better remote and a simpler interface. There's too much extra involved with the menus. True story.

Not So Smart TV

The good news: My S90D has excellent picture quality, with many settings to make adjustments to suit ones own personal taste with how a picture should look. Plenty of ports for connecting peripherals, and it does a great job at upscaling lower resolution content in order to give it a higher resolution appearance. Two annoyances: 1) When playing a video from any source, by default, the subtitles are played as well. Each time I have to go to a menu and turn them off. If there is a setting to make the subtitles stay off by default, I have not found one. 2) After playing a video from any source, the next video begins playing automatically. I have not found a setting to stop this from happening either. Th bad news: My S90D can not see the computers on my home network. For the first 2 weeks I owned the TV, this was not the case. Both of my computers on my home network appeared in the source list, and I had access to all the content on those computers. Suddenly they are gone even though I did not change anything. I suspect that some automatic update from Samsung caused this, but can't say for sure. So now, in order to watch a video stored on one of my computers, I must go to the computer and load the video on to a flash drive. Then go back to the TV and plug in the flash drive to watch it. Imagine having to do this every time you want to watch something that is on a network computer. Awful! Conclusion: A great picture is one thing, but between the 2 annoyances and the ridiculous inconvenience to see stored content, 3 stars is all this set deserves.

Beware Blank Screen after 6 Months

The warranty process has been frustrating and I will be without a TV for 2 weeks. I have had multiple phone calls and need 2 service visits since they did not have all the parts to fix the problem the first time, even though I verified that they would. Basically the whole guts of the TV needed to be replaced, not just the main board. I still wonder if this will be an issue after the warranty ends because no support will be given. Best buy wipes their hands of the product after it is sold and Samsung has been frustrating with limited support. I also had to demount the TV myself since everyone refuses to help with that process without a high fee.

Great image, bad software

Unfortunately, a few things mean I will be returning it before the 14 day return period expires. 1) incredibly flimsy frame for the display panel. I worried about breaking it when setting it up - and I worry about breaking it if I ever move it. The S95D has a much thicker and more rigid frame and so does the Bravia 9. 2) The software lags... I find this unbelievable. When I navigate menus for Tizen I have to wait for the software to catch up with me (Tizen is the OS, not an app within, like Netflix, YouTube, etc.). 3) many missing features in the software that I would like and consider basic, like the option to use my own images in ambient mode. Last, this is not a problem with the TV per se, but it is a reason for me to return it. There's a known problem with Apple TV content where it displays dark (compare an identical movie in Apple TV with Netflix, I compared The Matrix). Well... I need a TV to compensate for this because there's no other solution yet. The Samsung S90D does not go bright enough or have playback settings to help with the Apple TV problem. I'm thinking about a Bravia 9, which claims peak brightness of 4000 nits! Which is insane and unnecessary for most people, but I need brighter because of this unresolved problem with Apple TV content. The S90D feels like a middle of the pack high end TV. It's really good if it meets your needs and you don't have high expectations of the software. But my suspicion is that other high end TVs will blow this out of the water. Oh.. and the sound quality surprised me. It's incredible for a TV. It seemed as good as a high quality sound bar. I was really impressed. The price (when on sale) is good. I would recommend this to someone who has different needs than me and doesn't care about the TV OS lag and lack of features/settings.

Good but not great

But the functionality has had me frustrated after spending 2k. After exiting apps or switching from game to tv, menu wont let me chose apps or move my highlighted app, causing me to reset the tv or sometimes unplugging it from the wall. Tv wont shut off sometimes. Also, every once in awhile, apps wont load. The $500 55" Visio I baught in 2015 works better. The tv is average but I desired more. Jealous of my friends LG. I should have baught the same one. 5 star picture and sound. Why is there no option for stars on functionality?

Great TV but started giving me audio problems

I was going to purchase the LG G4 but the Best buy convince to get the S90D and after researching for a few days I went back and purchase it. The S90D is hands down better tv than the C3 I have and it doesn't get hot like the G4. But fast forward to October and this month. I lost the TV control but the worst part is the tv started giving me audio problems every-time I turn it on. The audio sounds muffled and I went thru the settings and everything and the only way to fix it its by turning it off and unplugging the power cord from the back of the tv and wait 10 seconds. I'm contacting geek squad soon when I have time to see if they can fix the issue.

I didn’t think the colors were as vivid as other brands. And the blacks weren’t as dark. Picture is nice but I expected more. I did change setting and it still was same.im on over air antenna. May perform better on cable ? Also my dvd player would not work with this tv. So I returned this tv for a different brand.

Can’t hear

I am elderly so I have problems with hearing so I would not like to say I do not recommend except for the people who have hearing issues. The tv also confuses me I really just want local channels without having to having cable I can’t even find that. But to a younger person I am sure they would love.

Sound issue.

Tech support says to unplug for a minute and replug and the issue gets fixed but then it just eventually happens again. I’ve had it for 6 months and it started after having it for 2 months….

You are required to set up an account with them to use functions of the tv. Seems like you are renting a tv and don’t really own it.

Tv seemed good but yhd VESA pattern on this tv is

The problem I had with this tv was that all the tv vonnects were mounted very low on the tv. With the existing mount that I have, the tv after mounted sat high on the wall and did not look right. The VESA systrm on yhis tv is very low make sure you measure your existing mount before purchasing this tv.

Recently, I noticed it looking horizontally warped about a 1/4” from midway to top.
