Expensive with screen light bleed quality issues..
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a bit disappointing, the screen when black has light bleed in areas that the screws are holding the screen in place. As of now you CANNOT play the new Xbox series X on ultra wide mode without it looking stretched and crappy. This is a huge disappointment, its not the screens fault, it has to do with the xbox. So you can only play on half the screen with all the highest settings set. Playing on a computer you can use the ultrawide with no issues. Hopefully the boneheads at Microsoft will add a patch so people with ultra wide monitors can play...

For productivity, Yes! For gaming, so so
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monitor has a lot of real estate, lol. However, and maybe because it is about 3 years old, the 1080P for this size of ‘49” monitor it doesn’t do too much justice for gaming. Yes it has a great refresh rate, (144Hz) and the response time is 1 ms compared to most gaming monitors, but the resolution of 3840 by 1080P For a monitor this size it simply leaves too little to be desired for gaming. For my accounting business, it is great because I can just fill a simple spreadsheet all across, but again the pixel density for this size of monitor is small again compared to competitive monitors out there. Also this monitor is HEAVY, and you may need two people and have enough space on your desk to place this behemoth of a monitor. I really love Samsung products, but on this one it didn’t have the “ WOW “ facto for me. Also for this price you could go with a 34” and at least you could get a 1440 resolution or higher. Trust me you will notice the difference in resolution.

Wish it was the 5120x1440 version
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this monitor because it was on a great deal! Kept it in the box hoping to open it up for Christmas. Unfortunately I had to return it because it wasn’t 5120 x 1440 version (my fault). So another store had a great deal on 5120 x 1440 about $150 more but it was worth it! The screen is beautiful, the curve is amazing and I don’t have to look at bezels between two screens. I use this monitor primarily for productivity, I usually have my code editor up, web application on the side, with room for email and other windows. I also do some gaming on the side literally via PBP mode. I hooked up my Audioengine speakers to it and the experience is truly amazing! I can’t still work on 27” while the other half is used for gaming. Would have left a 5 star review it was the 5120x1440 version! Other than that great monitor!

Huge. No - If low pixel density bothers you
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read all reviews and thought the low vertical resolution would be fine for my needs. Went ahead and purchased it. But, it is really low. More than I expected. Videos and images are okay. But fonts would look really grainy. I am a programmer, so the 1080 vertical resolution was not up to the mark for me. Oh btw, it is big. really big size. Make sure you have enough space on your desk.

Low Resolution for Size
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this monitor with the intent on using it for work during the day, and gaming at night. Overall, I believe this display is just ok for the price. Having a ultrawide display to work on and seamlessly either open 2 or 3 windows side by side, or streatch a window the full width (think wide spreadsheets) is very handy. If you can afford the bump up in price, I would recommend the Samsung monitor with 5120x1440 resolution support. Pros: Large display (sized of 2 27" monitors side by side) FreeSync Capable Adjustable Height Stand Cons: Low resolution for the size. Samsung also sells a 2561x1440 monitor in this size, which is what I ended up going with at the end after returning this monitor. No G-Sync - Since I am running an NVIDIA Graphics card, this is a bust for such an expensive monitor

||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's too long when I play the game, it's longer than the game's image, creating spaces on both sides. It's only suitable for racing games.

Not vibrant and not clear. Does not look HD.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although this is considered 4k the resolution on this size of a monitor looks blurry and the colors are not bright and sharp. The controls do not allow you to adjust it or calibrate it to make it any better. I have an Asus 28" 4k monitor that looks outstanding next to this monitor. When I have them next to each other it is the difference between standard definition old crt tube tv and a new oled tv with blue ray. This monitor is really below par for quality. Also the curve makes it even more distorted. It may be ok for low def gaming but is really bad for productivity and photos.

Buy the G9 Instead.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First I love gaming on this monitor and for the price I paid (xmas/black friday price of around 1K) I think it is worth it. However, understand it's got some drawbacks. I think Samsung has nailed the width issue for this type monitor (ie ultrawide craze which I think will be the standard in about 3 years). As crazy as it sounds though, coming from a two 30inch monitor setup this is the correct width but I don't think a curved ultrawide @35inch or @34inch is big enough or correct trade-off for a single monitor replacement setup. This monitor is an absolute joy at 144 hz and not bad for productivity either. I will admit the dpi is low and up close it is noticeable, however, for a slightly farther viewing distance this is, for the most part, negated (ie using vesa wall mount for an extra 3-6 inch further back from the back of a standard desk or credenza). The depth of my desk is 29inches. I find an extra 6 is preferable. I have 2 other monitor types in the house (a 27 inch dell and two 30 inch dell). The actual viewable vertical (meaning the actual screen not bezels) real estate to each type of my other monitors is 14.5 inches vertically on my 27' dell and 16inches vertically on my two dell 30 inch. The actual viewable vertical real estate on this one is only 13.25inches. This comes to my one complaint about this monitor-vertical real estate. My other dells run a resolution of 1600 vertically while this one is only 1080. For Samsung, Asus, Acer etc... to truly have the one "ring" to rule them all (Tolkien reference). The vertical resolution and actual screen size will need to come up at minimum of 1440 and 1.5 to 3 inches vertically for each respective specification along with the width of this monitor. After trying a Acer 35 predator ultrawide a friend has and this monitor my conclusion each needs what the other has. The acer needs the Samsung Chg90 width and the Samsung needs the 35 predators height. My hope is that Samsung gets more feedback and the engineers can truly produce the a just about perfect monitor for GAMING & PRODUCTIVITY. Maybe a Chg100/101 etc.

Great Monitor, Missing Vital Parts
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great monitor. Very clear and gives me lots of real estate for multitasking. Works seamlessly for both my pc and Mac. Was easy to set up. I bought this as open box excellent and was very disappointed with Best Buy on the open box classification. The wall mount plate was missing and so were multiple screws for the monitor stand. I’m still debating returning for this reason.

Not for Gaming
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a beautiful monitor! However, it is NOT for Gaming. We noticed right away the screen lags/glitches when playing PC Games. We chose to give it a fair chance and try it for a week with multiple games before we decided it wasn’t for gaming. It doesn’t live up to its Specs. The Refresh Rate isn’t true. Resolution (1080p) looks bad on this sized monitor. We adjusted & played with provided display options. The most we could milk out of this monitor was 70fps.

Good monitor, but get the 1440p version
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this monitor. No, actually, I really did like this monitor. The aspect ratio is great, it fit perfectly in the space I had on my desk, and the picture quality (for 1080p) was good. Unfortunately, I'm coming from a pretty decent 27" 1440p monitor, so it looked like garbage. If you're used to gaming on 1080p, you'll probably be fine. And, actually, a lot of games looked ok on it. But AAA titles are going to disappoint pretty consistently. Destiny 2 was a mess at this resolution. And the Windows desktop experience is pretty terrible. If you ever get tired of playing games, you can spend a few minutes counting the pixels on your favorite icon. Whoever thought a 49" 1080p monitor was a good idea needs to be fired. It's not all bad, though. Cartoony games look fine. Things like Don't Starve were quite pleasant. The HDR, while only HDRish, was rather decent. The UI is excellent. Probably the best I've ever used on a monitor. And even if your game doesn't support the aspect ratio, you can just slap it in the middle and have plenty of room on either side for Discord/Netflix/whatever. And the stand is very sturdy, with great cable management. Overall, it could be good if you're not already used to a higher resolution. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this monitor if it was 1440p, though. Fortunately, that is a (much more expensive) option.

Lackluster.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not very pleased with my receipt of the product. Spent $930 on a “excellent condition” open box and paid $111 on shipping for next day delivery. Received It, box is not in the best condition, but alas that was the least of my worries. There was a sort of liquid oily substance on the back of the monitor when unboxing, upon flipping it over and getting it on the stand there was a lot of almost Vaseline textured liquid on the screen. Very difficult to clean off and left haze on the screen. Plugging it in and running it, the monitor displayed obvious screen damage and refused to boot up. Tried several times and nothing worked. Ended up returning same day as received. Best Buy customer service was excellent however and made the process quick and painless, 5 minutes tops. Would not bother on open box buys ever as this was the result, cannot speak on overall monitor quality in terms of usage. However the stand does feel cheap and the clips on it are poorly made as those were broken too. The positioning of the screws on the back of the monitor for the stand are also very oddly positioned.

||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this one for a while. Caution you if you purchase this monitor. Do not have anything near it when setting up. Make sure you buy the expensive insurance. My biggest issue with this monitor is that the screen tends to mess up every so often and you have to turn it on and off multiple times for the screen to go back to normal. The next thing is the fact that even if you devide the screens which is good for regular work, but I am a gamer and you cannot divide it as you think would be. Example is if you are playing a computer game using the screen you cannot divide it for streaming and gaming on the same computer. The only good thing is picture quality. You will need to buy speakers if you want sound.
