This Samsung laptop is a new entry into the realm of Microsoft Co-pilot AI machines. More significantly, it’s in a sub-group of those laptops designed to be lightweight and very energy efficient. In the Windows world that’s comprised of units powered by Snapdragon (ARM based) or the new Intel Core Ultra (x86 based) processors. It appears that Intel has succeeded in building a processor as miserly with power use as the Snapdragon and as powerful as well. Both processors boot quickly and efficiently run programs. However, an Intel based laptop such as the Galaxy Book5 Pro has one big advantage over Snapdragon powered devices. ALL Window software and games will run, and all device drivers will work. That’s unfortunately not the case with the Snapdragon processors. There’s a lot to like about the new 16” Book5. The build-quality is superb. I don’t think anyone can top Samsung in this category. This laptop is super thin and light with a sexy, minimalist look. It’s all metal, no plastic, and the fit and finish is without flaw. The AMOLED 3K touchscreen is absolutely beautiful and bright. It has a 120 Hz refresh and 120% color volume. Considering its amazingly thin 12.5 MM form, there’s a good selection of ports. One HDMI 2.1, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB 3.2 Type-A, a Micro SD slot, and a headphone/mic jack. For connectivity there is WIFI 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The quad speaker system is much better than most laptops and has Dolby Atmos capability. The Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 (Lunar Lake) processor can be equipped with 16 or 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM (not upgradable) and has the latest Intel ARC graphics onboard (no discrete graphics available). The SSD is a 1TB PCIe 4, and there is an open M2 slot to add an additional drive. The charger is minimalist as well. Samsung provides a 65W fast charge adaptor block that’s less than 2”x2”x1” along with a 6’ USB C to C cable. This makes for a compact and easy to carry package to charge the 76 Watt-hour battery. Samsung claims it offers up to 25 hours of battery life, but In real life usage, I found it lasts more like 8-10 hours with typical mixed use. As far as my preferences are concerned, there are some things I’d change. There’s no Windows Hello support since the camera system doesn't include infrared. The fingerprint sensor integrated into the start button works OK. but it’s still not as convenient as face recognition. I would prefer a standard SD reader rather than a mini to avoid needing a dongle. The keyboard is large and well-lit, but the keys have a short throw and minimal feedback. It’s taking me some time to get used to the feel and configuration. This is an AI/Copilot focused laptop. It’s going to shine when the neural processing sub-section boost of the Core Ultra chip has work to do. It’s also going to shine when you need long battery life. It will give you all-day use on a charge. Being a Samsung, it integrates flawlessly with other Samsung devices (phones, tablets, accessories). I have a Galaxy Tab Ultra, and I can use it wirelessly as a second screen and/or drag and drop items between the two. Intel ARC graphics is improving, but the Book5 Pro is not intended to be a gaming laptop. At 1080P resolution, it can run many of the latest games at 30 to 45 frames per second. This speed is not in the same category as high-end discrete graphics systems. However, for gaming, it’s leaps and bounds above Snapdragon based machines which just will not run many games old and new. If you’re a serious gamer or a creative professional who needs high end graphics power and rendering, this is not your machine. This laptop is designed for AI use and long battery life. It’s gorgeous, it has exception build quality, it’s very light and slim, and it’s nicely featured. It will breeze through all major tasks and applications while offering fast AI enhancements. It excels in these areas, and that’s what you’re paying for. Core Ultra processors are quite expensive, and that’s reflected in the price. If these strengths are a match to your needs and wants, the Samsung Book5 Pro is a solid choice.

Samsung - Galaxy Book5 Pro - Copilot+ PC - 16" 3K AMOLED Touch Summary: Svelte. Svunctional. Simply Svantastic. Use: My larger laptop was starting to become a burden lugging around when I needed to get some work done. That is what I needed - a laptop that would let me get up and away from my office to enjoy the outdoors, a coffee, or any where else I wanted to be while working. The larger laptop was designed to be gaming unit so it has more heft to support that workload. Nevermind the power supply required to use it plugged in after its very mediocre battery capacity runs out. I do have a smaller laptop with an equally thin profile. The screen on that unit is roughly half of the screen of this Samsung Galaxy Book5. The smaller unit also allowed me to bring any of my (100W) USB-C PD chargers, the screen was touch, and its battery life superb. My eyes are just no longer up to the task of using such a small screen. This is where the Samsung Galaxy Book5 shines. It offers me quite literally the best of all worlds much to my surprise. I am able to work on this laptop mobile anywhere for a full day PLUS on a single charge. Of course, I make use of various Windows power profiles for maximum effect. I do run 99% of my workload remote via Remote Desktop. I was assigned a work laptop, but the specs are so paltry and machine so unusable that I returned it to use the other units I own. Remote desktop allows me to do this without installing any company stuff. However, I did put this unit through some paces to see how well it would do. Please see the pros and cons I discovered while working with this unit for the time I've owned it (now a few weeks). If your needs are similar to mine, and you choose this unit - I hope you like it as much as I do. Pros: * Quality. The build quality is top notch! It FEELs well made. It FEELs substantial. It FEELs great to hold and use. * Svelte. As the title suggests, this unit is sexy. It competes with the best of laptops inspired by Microsoft's own wonderful Surface and Surface Book laptops. This unit is slim and light weigh. I don't even notice the difference between that and my Surface laptop despite the size difference between models. * Screen. The large screen is perfect for my eyes. I use a variety of laptops for different tasks. This is one of the most comfortable to use - but I suppose I should be surprised given it is a Samsung AMOLED. OLED blacks are just so crisp. Great contrast and the touch functionality offers the convenience I am accustomed to with my other laptops. The HD screen resolution works well for me. My desktop displays are all 4K - 4K on this would have been as hard as working with my smaller laptop's display. * Ports. Given the slim profile, one might expect a scarcity of ports. Well, its a reasonable expectation. Still, this unit comes with a USB-A 3.2 port, two USB-C (2, 2.2, Thunderbolt, PD) ports, HDMI, Micro-SD, and audio ports flanking each side of the laptop. * Touchpad. The touchpad is a bit obnoxious. I generally never use touchpads, but this one is growing on me. I'm not sure if its because of the large size, or what - but it definitely makes reaching and using mouse functions easier. It is super responsive and the gestures work great. * Performance. The i7 processor makes short work of general day to day use particularly when mobile. I don't have any complains. Couple with the processor is the ARC GPU. It IS entry level, but coupled with the intended purpose - works well. I was surprised to see that one of my favorite go-to games, World of Warcraft, played quite decently for regular questing, delves, and dungeons on default mode and at 90-100+ FPS. * Power. It does come with a power supply of its own. A standard USB-C 65W. The cable is fine. I used my own chargers, though. All 100W chargers that I use for all my devices. It works fine with them. * Battery. 25+ hours is stated on the marketing materials. I think that is easily attainable. I did my taxes, worked, browsed the web, etc. over several days and I still had charge at the end of the week. I kicked the unit into performance mode and, of course, that drained the battery fast. I really don't know if I would need to switch out of balanced or power efficiency except when I decide to play a little bit of WoW. Cons: * Bloatware. A common and recurring theme for all Windows laptops. Vendors have a bad habit of installing a bunch of stuff we don't need. Samsung is no exception here. We just don't need it all. I’ve got to say, the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro is an absolute win for anyone who needs Windows but envies their Apple-using friends. Right out of the box, the build quality is fantastic. It’s slim, lightweight, and made from gorgeous aluminum. It definitely gives off pre-2022 air-y vibes. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the 3K display since I was coming from a 4K screen on my previous Windows PC, but it’s been really impressive—sharp, vibrant, and I guess as my eyes age I couldn’t even tell what I was missing. Battery life has been fantastic too—I used it for about 5-6 hours straight during a flight and layover, and the battery barely took a hit. That’s way better than I expected. Performance-wise, this thing is pretty fast. The Core Ultra 7 has handled everything I’ve thrown at it, including huge Excel files and data-heavy tasks, without breaking a sweat. That said, this is NOT a gaming laptop. The integrated GPU is fine for light gaming, but if you’re looking for serious graphics power, this isn’t it. Now, the trackpad is amazing—smooth, large, and honestly one of the best I’ve used on a Windows laptop. The keyboard is solid too, though I do get a little lost sometimes since the keys are pretty short. My biggest gripe? The number pad layout is AWFUL! The 0 key is stuck under the 1, which constantly throws me off. I’ve already had to delete so many misplaced decimal points—it’s actually kind of a problem. I did test out the speakers, and while the Dolby Atmos spatial effects are cool, the sound is a bit thin, which is expected from such a slim laptop. I haven’t fully tested the Galaxy ecosystem features yet, but it looks like you can use a Galaxy Tab as a second screen, which has me seriously considering getting one. Overall, this is an amazing laptop if you want something powerful, premium, and portable. It’s not for gamers, but if you need a fast, sleek Windows laptop with a gorgeous display and killer battery life, this is easily a 5-star device.

I love its design; its OLED screen is beautiful with different preset modes that adapt to all types of users. The concept of unification between Windows and Samsung offers many advantages to create a single multi-system integration between all devices, making sharing files between the phone and the PC very easy and satisfying. The Galaxy Book 5 Pro is great in every way. The battery lasts a full day of work. The keyboard is functional and has good travel, with all its keys, including the number pad and a dedicated Copilot key, which gives us quick access to artificial intelligence. If I had to ask this laptop for something, it would be its audio system. It does have four speakers, but their placement at the bottom doesn't allow the sound to be heard clearly. It would have been much better if it were on the top. But in conclusion, I recommend this Galaxy Book 5 Pro as a work laptop.

Great laptop! The screen is the best I have seen anywhere. All of the right ports. Backlit keyboard. USB C charging. Good battery lift. The only negative is that the touch pad doesn't register taps once and a while, but a mouse is always a better way to go anyway. If you have looked at the specs, then you should know that this is not a gaming laptop, because there is no discreet graphics card.

If you already have a Book3 Pro, do not buy this computer. You don't need it. Where do I begin? The box was destroyed when I received it, but the computer was in good shape. You will quickly realize the computer itself feels cheaper and more flimsy. It was glitchy while setting it up. None of the fancy marketing videos tell you that you don't actually get an AI computer with a seamless AI experience. Expect to watch endless youtube videos and do AI searches to even find out what you should have. Then you have to try to find the programs/or download it somewhere. Nothing is seamless. Your computer says Copilot+ AI PC, but it isn't. Copilot+ doesn't come installed, and good luck getting help from Best Buy. There is nothing special about this PC. The Windows update is notorious for failing. I had to get on youtube to figure out how to find a workaround. It took more than an hour to update and I have great internet. That was after I messed with it for more than an hour trying to get it to update over and over again. Copilot couldn't even figure it out. Save your money. The only positive I can say about it is that it doesn't get as hot as the book3 and the fan is quieter. Do not waste your money. The good reviews are likely from people who don't have an earlier model. I regret this purchase and STILL don't have Copilot+ or any of the "alleged" AI features it is supposed to have. The few AI tools I was able to find are attached to Bing (not a fan). If the Copilot+ issue doesn't get resolved tomorrow I am returning it. For reference, I have 6 PCs and this is the worst experience I've ever had setting one up.

The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro is a nice laptop with good functionality. If you’re a Samsung Galaxy phone user, it’s even better :) Cool, quiet, light, and thin, this laptop is well featured for a modern ultrabook. I was initially aggravated at the Galaxy5 Pro’s stuttering, slow experience, even after a couple of reboots and a mountain of updates were completed. Then a giant McAfee pop-up notified me that McAfee was here, likely causing the stuttering and slowness, so I uninstalled it. The reboot after the uninstall was immediately better. I thought it was a bit odd that a modern, brand new computer would have these stutters and hitches. I had to remember that this machine is not built for maximum speed all the time. The “Intel Core 7 Ultra EVO Edition 256V” in the laptop is built to sip power with a TDP of 17 watts, which is amazing. Having the laptop plugged in makes it snappier in response and faster in processing. While the laptop is off the cord, it does a good job keeping the CPU and RAM clocks as low as possible to maximize battery life. In everyday use, it barely even gets warm and you won’t have to hear the dentist drill-like fan. If you play games that involve the GPU, you’ll get to sample that for yourself, I recommend headphones :D Battery life is spectacular, I ran it for 12 hours straight and it showed 46% battery remaining. After I cycle the battery about 10 more times, it should be even better. Just wow. I counted 28 Samsung branded apps installed from the factory. At least 18 started on boot. 28 updated themselves and none of them have release notes or any reason they run automatically in the background on boot. Taking these out if you don’t have any use for them might get you a little more battery life. When I tested the run time, I had removed all of the Samsung software from the computer. AI features are available with the NPU integrated into the Intel Core Ultra 7 265V EVO Edition (stop with the names) and the Windows tools that make use of it worked right out of the box. I was able to test some software that makes use of the NPU, Affinity Photo 2 will use the NPU when you are selecting an object in the photo. Without the NPU on my main desktop, it does a “good” job with automatically selecting a person. With the NPU, it’s clearly faster and the selection is extremely good, keeping tight and maintaining silhouette on the subject much better than the older, non-machine learning, version. I look forward to being able to use “AI” software locally on my machine to do things for me, but those days will be a while coming. The AMOLED display seems to be the hook of this machine. This screen is very sharp and bright with blazing whites and dark, inky blacks. Colors are all very saturated and attractive, if not entirely realistic. You do not get full brightness on the screen while on battery. It appears the screen is dimmed roughly 10-15% when on battery. That doesn’t really matter for my use case, as I can barely look at the display at full brightness. The screen is capable of such brightness that you can likely run this one with the screen on a half setting, saving battery and perhaps extending the display’s lifespan, which I understand is limited in comparison to more mainstream display technologies. Spoiler alert – I can’t unsee the intrusive rounded corners on the display now… death by a thousand cuts. Which leads to the primary human interface device, the keyboard. The keys are too shallow to allow for the razor thin profile of the laptop. The keys are pushed to the left to make room for the checkbox filling numpad that is somewhere around 70% or less large than a standard one. While this fills a checkbox, it ruins the actual keyboard, making it uncomfortable and tiring to use. The camera on this laptop is atrocious. It’s perhaps the worst webcam I’ve seen for a while. I really expected the people who crow about how good their phone cameras are to spend $2 extra and put in something better, because the one included is fuzzy, low resolution, and has terrible light handling. I would buy a separate camera if you are going to be doing any amount of video conferencing with this Galaxy Book5. The last real complaint I have about the Samsung Book5 is the cheap looking adapter, in bright white, which reminds me how cheap it is by the bad molding on the USB-C plug. Out of the box, the lid was offset from the base by a few millimeters, which doesn't inspire confidence in the longevity, but only time will tell. ok… one more…The blue LED on the side is tacky, and you can’t turn it off, it’s always on when the computer is running. Overall, a stylish, functional laptop. The shortcomings lead me to not recommend it, but it’s not a terrible machine, I think it needs some work to be a more competitive offering to claim “Pro” status.

Samsung has come a long way in their laptop design. The Galaxy Book 5 Pro 16" is remarkable in many ways. Over this past week I've been using it for school and find that it is responsive, snappy and loads programs quickly, it's large 16" AMOLED display is vibrant and it's high resolution makes media consumption really enjoyable. As far as product design is concerned, aesthetically, they nailed it. It's a sleek and the screen feels like it is impossibly thin, yet the rigid metal housing makes everything feel strong and reliable. The keyboard is backlit making using the device at night, or in less than amazing lighting easy. And the trackpad is enormous. The i7 Ultra powering it is a workhorse, but still efficient enough for them to boast a 20 hour batter life. My experience is closer to 11 hours of mixed usage, and even less if you are really pushing it. but dropping the brightness down and doing light internet browsing I could see this reaching it's 20 hour mark or at least getting really close. Where I fell they still need to work on things is the keyboard and style of trackpad used. The keyboard is serviceable, theres little deck flex, and the keys all work just fine. But the shallow throw of the keys makes the feedback I get while typing less than steller. And where the size of the trackpad is amazing, first impressions made me beleive it was going to be a solid haptic trackpad. The overall device design really gave me that impression that the same sturdy design motif would carry on there. Unfortunately, while it is a large, and very useable trackpad it is still the same old "diving board" that pivots from the top when you press down on it clicking a real microswitch under the trackpad rather than being a firm immoveable trackpad that can sense pressure and simulate the feel of a click through a haptic motor. Not a deal breaker for most I am sure, but it was something serious of note that I feel in 2025 we should have long since moved past these old mechanisms as it cheapens the feel of an otherwise top-class premium machine. While this is no gaming laptop by any means, integrated Intel Arc graphics does give you a little breathing room to play some games quite competently so long as you are willing to lower your resolution and understand that you will likely have to set almost everything to low, at least on newer games. Should comfortably be able to play older games like Skyrim, and most esports titles just fine. And games like Minecraft run great. The 16GBs of ram really let you go ham with Mods. There are certainly things here I would love to see improved, but the whole package is a solid business/school workhorse with plenty of screen to be able to use multiple programs at once. Connectivity on the device is solid, with 2 thunderbolt ports, a full sized USB A port, headphone jack and micro SD card reader. Though you will have to sacrifice one of those thunderbolt ports while you charge. That said, the included charger is a 65W USB C PD brick about the same size as your typical phone charger and uses a detachable usb c to c cable, so you can easily swap out for a longer cable, or just use it to charge your phone when your laptop doesn't need a top up. If you are deep in the Samsung ecosystem all the expected software is preinstalled, for getting connected with your other Samsung tech goodies including taking advantage of things like samsung galaxy buds automatically swapping between connected devices as needed. In the world of windows computers this is probably the closest you will get to that 'Apple ecosystem' experience, and I think they ahve done a decent job at keeping a reasonable feature parody. I like it. As I'm working with the adobe suite in my classes this machine has rolled with the punches, and provided a stable, and snappy performance in the primary apps I'm dealing with, and the large screen gives me plenty of work space. All while it's slim design cuts down the weight you would normally attribute to the big laptops. But finding a laptop sleeve for it has been a chore... so many 15.6" laptop sleeves.... where are the 16" laptop sleeves!?

I have historically bought 15.6" and 16" sized laptops which have GPU cards since I like to play games on my laptops too. I took a chance on this 14" Samsung because I wanted better portability and to see what the AI and Co-pilot hype was all about. Like the title says, this is a very light weight and small form factor laptop that does anything you need it to do, outside of heavy gaming. Charging it with the Samsung provided fast charger and cable is super fast, takes only around 40 mins. The light on the side tells you when it is ready. Getting started is just like every other windows laptop. The screen is the best I've ever owned, nice and vibrant and I'm familiar with all the settings due to already having a Samsung phone. WiFi 7 is blazing fast and connects with zero issues. Backlit keyboard is adjustable and the keys are so nice and smooth. AI seems to work similar to my phone, which I like, not intrusive. All my data, Excel, word processing, and basic games run well and snappy. After the first major update, I noticed this laptop synced with my larger laptop and I had all my files and pictures. Overall, super premium laptop, travels extremely well, easy to charge, and performs without a hitch. Well done Samsung.

This is a sleek, simple, light laptop. The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro really dazzles with the AMOLED screen. As expected Samsung has a great bright display. It's a little weird that the screen is rounded. All my other laptops are squared off. I haven't found an issue, just different. I love that Samsung is efficient with the space even with a giant track pad. This is the same size as my 15” Alienware that doesn't have a full keyboard like this one. It's nice that it's equipped with a finger print reader however I'd prefer facial recognition to log in. I'm extremely surprised that the camera is not high enough quality to use that feature. At least according to Windows when I tried to set it up. I haven't had any issues with the track pad activating while I'm typing so it looks like Samsung has done a great job with palm recognition. I'm a little disappointed in Samsung's push that this laptop is good for creators. I was able to do creating and editing with Adobe Photoshop and Premier, however when I went to export my video it took twice as long as my older laptop. It also took twice as long to transfer videos over the USB-C to be edited. What was a pleasant surprise though was the battery and heat distribution. I was able to do video editing on battery power only far longer than my other laptop and the Book5 wasn't even hot. This is a major improvement from what I have been working with. It also charged extremely fast once I did plug it in while I was working. So just know that you are sacrificing some video rendering time with the other benefits. Even though this doesn't really have the specs of a gaming laptop without a powerful NVIDIA, I tried it out anyways. I played Diablo III and it was smooth. Paired with the great display it was really enjoyable. So for some light gaming I think this gets the job done. The sound is also impressive for how small everything is. You notice the subwoofer added to this model when you play music. I was surprised this doesn't come with a big power supply. It just has a fast charging wall wart which helps with it's portability. It feels durable with it's aluminum casing. I didn't really notice any of the AI features outside of having a dedicated Copilot key. Overall this is a pretty good laptop. It does a good enough job at content creating but I would of expected it to excel at it with all the advertising. I think the connectivity with other Samsung devices is pretty cool but I haven't found a need for it yet. The battery life is very impressive. I would recommend this if the short comings are acceptable.

While unboxing the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro I was immediately impressed by the low profile, polished aluminum casing and the 16-inch AMOLED touchscreen. 16GB of memory and 1 TB SSD provides plenty of RAM to run multiple applications simultaneously and plenty of storage for photos and gaming. The touchscreen is made of Corning Gorilla Glass that’s antireflective, automatically adjusts the screen to allow the best picture in different lighting, has full HD screen resolution, and amazing screen responsiveness. This laptop also offers the option of connecting your Galaxy Tab S Series as a second screen to provide additional workspace. There is a very large track pad, but I don’t believe the screen or touchpad are compatible with any type of stylus (like Samsung’s S pen) that would allow you to draw on the screen or write notes. There is another version of this laptop, the 360, that is compatible with the S pen. This capability would have been a great addition to this version also. Surprisingly there is no IR camera to allow the use of biometric security features like facial recognition. I also wish the keyboard were backlit for use in less than optimal lighting. The lightweight and low profile make this laptop ideal for someone who travels for work or a student who is constantly on the run. It weighs in at just less than 3.5 lbs. and measures approximately 10’h x 12’w x 0.5’d. Included are a fast charging block and a charging cord that is USB C on both ends. The inputs on the computer are one USB Type-A, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, a headphone/microphone jack, and a MicroSD media card slot. Samsung advertises up to 25hour battery life with its lithium-ion battery and up to a 35% fast charge in 30 minutes using the included charger and cord. I found the initial charge to last over 20 hours and that a 30-minute fast charge produced a 30% charge. Both of which are impressive. The Galaxy Book5 Pro has 4 speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound. I tested the sound by playing downloaded music and streaming an action movie. The speakers sounded great but did have slight distortion of the bass when the volume was maxed out. This computer generates almost no noise and after surfing the Internet for several hours I noticed that the cooling fan had clicked on but it was extremely quiet. This computer runs on the newest Windows11 Home operating system with state of the art Copilot+ PC artificial intelligence. It has the latest Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 2 processor which helps the computer operate quickly even with numerous processes running. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth provided amazing response time while working and almost immediate connections to both my home and outside networks. While my uses for this laptop are pretty generic I haven’t scratched the surface of some of the next generation tech that it offers. I hope to explore more of these features in the near future, including: • Phone Link which allows you to sync your smartphone and PC • AI Select lets you trace or circle an image on the screen and get search results • Photo Remaster retouches photos in the Samsung Gallery • Live Captions automatically generates captions in English during meetings and video streaming when it detects other languages being spoken • Bixby the built-in voice assistant While this is definitely not an entry-level laptop it is very easy to use and it will definitely appeal to those on the market for the most up to date technology.
