The touch panel is not as user freindly as the Sansa Clip. It is more delicate than I thought. I had to buy a protective cover for it. I bought it for the longer battery life and more memory. So for it is very good for that.

Like I stated above, it didn't work. My local BB willingly exchanged the item and I haven't had any problems since. Had to get item in black.

I bought this to replace a sansa e280 I have had for several years. I use mp3 players mostly to listen to audiobooks on my commute and this one was suggested as supporting audiobooks. While its true that this player does allow one to resume a book chapter where one left off, in balance, this player is not suitable for use by anyone. The main weakness of this player is the touch screen control panel. This is a positively foolish idea and makes this player completely useless. even using the included soft sleeve, the player will be unlocked easily by random movements when locked and placed in your pocket. This leads to chapter changes, cursing, and 5 minutes wasted trying to find your place again. Additionally, while some reviews I have seen state that it is possible to save multiple book marks with this player, I have not been able to figure out how to do so in between my fits of rage due to random chapter changes. The touch screen is extremely sensitive, so if the player is unlocked, it must be handled extremely carefully or else random chapter changes will occur. Oddly, it can actually take a few tries to unlock the touch screen when you actually want to do so. Go figure. While I've had this player for just a couple of months, I have purchased a different player that will suit my needs better. This one will end up being an expensive USB drive. Nice.

The Sansa Fuze+ makes basic file navigation difficult and unpleasant. Depending on the temperature, how moist your skin is, and how big your fingers are, the navigation touchpad controls work anywhere from 10% to 95% of the time. Often have to try multiple times to get it to perform a function and it often does something else (e.g. goes to the previous screen instead of to the beginning of the song). I've placed the unit in my breast pocket while jogging and had it "unlock" the lock feature and skip randomly around from album to album, song to song. Can't view files in a Windows Explorer format while using the device - it reads the ID3 tags and organizes the files by them. Great if all your files have the correct tags. Bad if you ripped files from your older CDs where info is not available, not complete, or not correct. Also bad if the downloadable audio book from your local library has incorrect/incomplete tags. You may find different tracks from the same CD/book scattered all over. Adding ID3 tag info manually to get the files displayed where you want them is a real pain. This also makes for long lists that you have to scroll through for some views (particularly by artist). The album art is not displayed for most of the albums. It is visible in Media Player Library and Windows 7 Explorer. Have not determined if this is a Windows/Media Player or Sansa issue. It would be nice if some clever programmer could set it up to display a larger title and album info when no album art is available instead of a nondescript pattern. Lots of features and settings to allow customization, but no bookmark feature. The battery does last a long time (20+ hours for audio). Windows 7 has a bug so it will not indicate charging progress. The ability to add memory with microSDHC card is nice. Have not used the ear buds that came with the unit, have not used the radio or recorder. Have not really used the unit to view pictures or video, except the samples that came with the unit. I didn't want or need a unit that did much "fancy" stuff. I just wanted to be able to find a file and listen to it. The Sansa Fuze+ does not deliver.

    Controls are a pain

The controls are a pain and just a touch will work them one time and a hard press the next. Suffle keeps reseting to on. Casual touch will raise Cain even before you can get it locked. I listen to audiobooks and podcasts mostly and it is very difficult to keep stuff in order on this unit. Tho old one was great but this one isn't.

    Looks pretty, but...

Even though touch screens are all the rage, it just doesn't work with an MP3 player! With the older model, I could have it my pocket and use all of the features without looking at it. With the touch screen, you have to look at it in order to use it. It may not seem like a big deal, but it is VERY inconvenient and makes it frustrating to use. The screen lock feature is touchy so the songs change when you try to put it back into your pocket. Mine also had a problem with freezing up. It would play 3-4 songs and then need to be restarted. Not worth the headache. I took it back after a few days. I'm all about smart phones and high tech toys, but not for my Sansa. I really miss the old model!!!

    I hate this player!

I am a music teacher and I use my mp3 player in the instructional setting. I have owned the Sandisk Fuze before. When I needed to replace it, the Fuze was no longer available. Since I was so satisfied with the Fuze, I thought the Fuze+ would be okay. I was so wrong! The volume control is rigid. The touchpad is too sensitive. When you want to find a specific track, you'd better not scroll too fast or you'll overshoot the track. Scrolling does not loop, either. (ie if you want to go from a track named "B" to a track named "W," you have to go all the way through the alphabet instead of being able to go backward. Shuffle keeps resetting to on. You cannot set it to repeat only one song. When you set it to repeat, it repeats the entire playlist. This is important to me as a music teacher. There are only two things I like about it: the color and the large screen. I am so dissatisfied with this player that I am returning it.

This is my second Sandisk mp3 player. I bought this one for the external storage capability. It has good sound, but I must say like almost everyone else, the screen is extremely touchy. I have the armband case, which I keep it in for protection. It is difficult to operate while in the case. Sometimes you barely touch it and the selection changes. Other times, no matter how hard you press the screen, nothing happens. I thought it was me until I read the other reviews. I hope Sansa can do an upgrade to improve the performance. I think it can be confusing too. If I don't use it for awhile, I have to relearn the controls. Uploading is ok and I like the external storage feature. I use it for media I don't want stored permanently on the player. If I had to choose again, I'm not sure I would buy this, but I definitely do not want an Ipod.

This player is ok but not great. I really do not like the fact that there is no lock on it. While it's in your pocket it is ok because you have to touch the controls with your finger or hand and it will not respond to touch from other things such as the inside of your pocket or things in your pocket. The problem is when you put the player in your pocket or take it out you sometimes hit the touch panel then it will change songs restart song or whatever you hit. Player is alittle harder to navigate compared to some other players.

    Very difficult to control

I bought this MP3 player for a trip and loaded up my favorite tunes as well as an audiobook. Having never owned an MP3 player before I knew there would be a little learning curve, and I figured out how the thing worked - or so I thought. I had read that this was kind of tough to control and, with my short stubby fingers I should have listened. Getting between songs and playlists is a lesson in futility, and there's no way that I've found to stop in the middle of a chapter of an audiobook and go back where you were before. I'll likely get something else - something I've done better research on.

I purchased this player based on my past experience with another model of Sansidisk MP3 player, which I used for several years. This model is a big fail. I constantly had problems with the player's memory after installing GBs of MP3 files the player would work for a day or two then stated it couldn't play the MP3 files because it didn't have valid licenses for the files. The only way to correct the problem was to reformat the device's memory and re-download the MP3 files. This device now sits in a draw as I went back to my old player. Also, as others have mentioned the touch screen is too sensistive and consquently is very hard to use. In summary, this device is poorly designed and the quality is equal to the design (poor).

Worst user interface in the galaxy????

Good features, including: 1. Bright colorful screen 2. Strong FM reception 3. Great sound But all of these are overshadowed by a FRUSTRATING user interface. The touch pads were way too sensitive when you didnt want them to be, or not sensitive at all when you wanted the player to do something. I returned it to Best Buy because of the units horrible interface.

I went through four of these pieces of garbage before I finally gave up on it and purchased an older Sansa model. Everyone I tried would either freeze up or just not respond to the touchpad correctly. Sansa mp3's are usually very good but this new model is a step backwards as far as performance goes. Don't waist your money on this. You'll be sorry!

    Hard to Control

I had an older Sansa MP3 player with the wheel controller that was much easier to use. Using these menus is not intuitive and the touch pad is super sensitive. I still haven't found my music channels. If you hold the player too tightly in your hand or put in a pocket, it tends to start skipping around all over the place. I tried to use the soft case with the armband for working out, but the controls won't work through the clear plastic. Needless to say, I am very disappointed.

My main complaint is that I cannot find the menu bar, button. When I'm where I want to be and need to do another thing, I cannot figure out how to do it. I always played my music in alphabetical order by song. I'm not able to find how to do that on this one and it's very frustrating. Something so simple is driving me crazy! There has to be an easier way to do but I can't find it.

Sansa REALLY missed the boat with the user interface on this player. it's difficult and non intiutive. The touch controls are absolutely so touchy that you have to hold it like the golden egg or lock the controls once you have FINALLY found the selection you want. In this day and age it's truly astounding at how poor the interface is. Do NOT buy this for anyone but the most tech saavy uses who have great manual accuity with thier fingers.

I currently have a Sansa Fuze, 2GB. I needed more space. I decided that since I was so happy with my previous fuze, another would be great. I was wrong. I bought this thing on Sunday. Today is Thursday and it's broken. This afternoon the screen froze halfway between songs and I couldn't turn it off. When i finally did get it to turn off, it wouldn't turn back on again. I plugged it into the computer and nothing happened.. There's no little paperclip reset hole either. While it was working, I found that the power button wasn't very responsive, the touchscreen was calibrated badly causing me to end up in an entirely different menu area than I wanted, the cord touched it and changed the menu, shuffle only played about 10 songs out of my collection. Right out of the box it was in Arabic and it took me an hour to figure out how to get back to English. I'm not at all happy, this is going back to the store tomorrow.

I bought this mp3 player because I previously owned a sansa and was happy with it. I needed something bigger but didn't want to spend too much money for it. This mp3 player was not very user friendly because it was difficult to manuever, and I had difficulty loading the music on it. I returned the mp3 player to the store.
