The unit arrived quickly (I was not in a hurry and there's a pandemic but lo and behold it arrived quickly). The design is nice, sleek, and you get what you need. I have run it once and it does what it is supposed to do. This review covers my work with the unit in DEC 2020/JAN 2021. And I'm writing this on 2/13/21. There are 2 minor things I do not like about it. 1. You have to go online and download the software. It is minor but it's another step. Other units come with the software on the device, saving me a few precious minutes. No big deal, just letting you know what to expect. 2. On my Lenovo Yoga 2 laptop, which is about 7 years old, running Win 10.... always the latest..... the software windows do not fit my screen. So I cannot see the options to make the selection to "ok" or "Cancel". I know I can hit "enter" and that should work (and it did) to run the backup. But that's pretty annoying. The solution from Seagate was to uninstall and then re-install the software. I haven't done that yet. The irony is that you cannot resize the window yourself the way you can with "normal" software systems. You cannot highlight/click/drag the edges or corners. And my laptop is a touch screen and with other applications I can also resize the view by "pinching" the screen (or track pad) - this does not work on the Seagate software. Clearly the software engineers engineered that option right out of this product. Sigh. I'll keep it but when it comes time for the next backup external drive, I'll look to something else.

Loved this so much I keep buying them for all my family when I show them this! Its a master computer in a small and beautiful case that i now nicknamed as "my life" haha. From school, to a collection of photos made up of the last 10 + years, social media and marketing graphic artwork created for my job AND 6 years worth of business management materials saved from 3 computers - the amount of storage sometimes makes me feel like it's magic. Even if you don't need to store a lot, this is something that makes me feel better about not losing information. It can be used for automatic backups for mac computers like time machine etc. and for has great cases and additional wire hookups that make this product easy to use and store.

This is a great piece of gear to have for backing your data. And it is easily portable to take with you to work or travel or a pleasure trip. Plenty of storage space (2TB) at least for my needs. It works great on my Mac and comes with the needed adatport. I like the Seagate and recommend it.

Overall this seems to work well. No real issues. Was able to move files from old to new computer and do regular back-ups. It came with another connector that may be for a mac, not sure. I did get the back-up plan on this drive. The compact size works well although I will probably not use it for travel. Have not really explored it much but overall it is easy to use.

Bought this drive to use with new MacBook Pro. I put my iMovie library on this drive and it works great. Fast enough to do 1080p video editing. (Haven't tried with 4K yet.). Comes with cable and runs of bus power, so no a/c outlet needed!

Works great. Gets the job done and adds plenty of extra storage space for such a small device, and for a great price.

This device apparently is working as intended, the best I can tell. Files and folders are showing as backed up, either by dragging and dropping or automatically. But instructions and user guides are sparse, and technical support is nowhere near adequate. I have emailed several questions to Seagate several times, and have had only a couple of questions clearly answered. The instructions for one problem — an error message saying that I needed to “unmount the drive and proceed with the security request” — were to reinstall the software. I tried that, and it didn’t work. I still don’t know exactly what that error message means, and why it reoccurs. In our last email exchange, the support rep said to let him know if I needed a “call back” for more help. I replied that I would like that, and provided a phone number. I’ve heard nothing since then. If I had known how confusing this product would be to use, and how little support there would be, I would not have bought it. Although it appears to be working, I can’t be sure if it is working as it should.

Easy to dock with the computer and so far works the way it is supposed to. We use it to back up documents and photos, not as a regular access device, so I cannot speak to regular usage. Just started using it so I cannot speak to longevity either, but Seagate is supposed to make nice hardware, so I am hopeful since we use it as longterm back up.

I bought this because I was looking for a drive with a USB-C port. That is the port on 2018 and later Macs. This drive says it's USB-C, but all that means is that it comes with a USB-C adapter for the Type-B cable. USB-C provides faster transfer rates than earlier USB standards. Since this drive's port is Type-B, I assume I'm not getting those rates. The drive is fine, but don't pay a premium for faster transfers, because you won't get them.

Nowadays, the ultrathin laptop has miniature storage size and this sleek, great looking, better speed hard drive is sitting between the expensive ultra-fast SSD and normal 5400 RPM HDD. A great companion without taking much space in the bag.

This drive does everything you need it to. It is easy to set up and use, and is very easy to store due to its small size. A good option to back up your files.

Needed extra storage for my MBP, and this drive was super convenient with the USB C cable, compact and speedy way to store large files. Also works nicely with Time Machine to backup everything.

I never bought ome of this before but i gave it a shot came fast deliver it works with my phone so i could store everything in tbere and it fast also real nice

My Seagate Ultra Plus works seamlessly with my Apple MacBook Pro. It’s an older computer so I couldn’t use the newer USB 3.0. Still though, the USB 2.0 is plenty fast. This purchase was a replace for my much older Seagate external backup. I’m completely happy with this purchase.
