Let me start by saying this , haha, I was totally skeptical that this would work as I wanted it to due to the fact I had a dog that sheds soooooo much and when i broom it’s impossible to get every Hair. BUT this met my expectations and more! I love to walk barefoot most of the time and let me tell you how impressed I was when I got up once it was done cleaning to feel my floor so clean ! 10/10 would recommend to anyone with high traffic in their home or fur babies. Oh and my first run of “baby zhark” was amazing. My dust bin had so much hair and debris in it. It was astonishing. Worth EVERY penny, thank you !

This is my first robot vacuum and I was quite excited to use one for the first time! The unboxing and setup process of this vacuum was very straightforward and easy. There were a few different steps required for the initial setup which included ensuring cords and small obstacles were off floors, choosing a location for and plugging in the charging dock, attaching the side brushes to the robot, and connecting it to WiFi with the app. There seemed to be a glitch when I first attempted to connect the robot to WiFi using the app. The app didn’t seem to be detecting it even though my phone was connected to the robot’s WiFi network. I did completely close out the Shark app though and then the second time it worked without issues. Once the vacuum connected to WiFi and charged up, it was necessary to run a scan of my home where the robot went around and mapped out every room in my house. It did a pretty good job and then once it was done, I was able to customize the rooms and fine tune the mapping as needed. It took some time to tweak and fine tune the map, but now it looks great and works really well. I also noticed that during the initial mapping process, the robot did a great job of detecting and avoiding the stairs to my basement. It seems that Shark has done a great job at fine tuning the programming of this device. It did a great job at going around objects in the way and getting in and under just about every place possible. It was great to see this vacuum go under furniture that is rarely vacuumed as those locations are not easy to get under and clean. It fit under tight spaces well and I am quite impressed with the job it has done in our house. It also did well going over carpets and over the thresholds at the entrances of rooms in my house. Nothing seemed to phase it as far as going over surfaces, and it also vacuumed the floor well! When it finishes vacuuming, you do need to empty out the dust bin. Also, every month you are supposed to wash and clean out the filter that the vacuum uses. Shark did include a second filter which is nice, so if you are waiting for the other to dry out, you can go ahead and use the second one that was provided. The Shark app also seems to be really well-made and polished, and it worked great throughout my usage. You can schedule the vacuum to run automatically up to one time per day, and you can set it to run only on certain days and set it to run at a different time depending on the day. If you want the vacuum to run in a certain room at a certain time manually, you can go into the app and tell it to go that room or multiple specific rooms. You can also manually set it to clean the whole house or tell it to return to the dock while it is cleaning. It also has a zones feature where you can put certain places on the map for the robot to avoid and also set locations that get the most traffic and are the highest priority. I am very happy with all the features of the robot and the quality of the app! I have attached some screenshots from the app so you can see what different parts look like. There were a few issues I did encounter with this device. Every time it docked, I would get an error message that the “fluid reservoir is empty” and to “please refill the tank”. I also noticed that when my vacuum had recharged, it was indicating that it was charged to 95%, not 100%. These were some strange issues. With the water reservoir notice, this device does NOT have a water reservoir, so I knew that must be a bug, and I wasn’t entirely sure about the battery level part. I reached out to Shark regarding this and did confirm that the water reservoir notice is a bug in the software on the robot and they will be releasing a firmware update to the robot in the future to resolve this issue. The battery level indicator issue is also a bug that they will fix in a future update. With that response from Shark, I am not too worried about these issues as they should be resolved in the near future. Overall, I’m very happy with this vacuum! It makes cleaning the house very easy and has a lot of great features and customizations! I would definitely recommend this to those looking to keep their house clean and get a robot vacuum!

    An Impressive, Smart Robot Vacuum

I've had a few robot vacuums over the past few years. But this is the first I've owned that was able to map my home, and what a difference that makes! This is the most accurate robot vacuum I've ever used. By accurate, I mean it has no issues getting stuck, or not finding its way back to its charging station. It navigates easily through our bedroom, walk-in closet, kitchen dining room and living with ease. It's even able to traverse over a sort of hump/divider in our house where the wood flooring transitions to tile. I haven't had any issues with hair getting stuck either, unlike previous robots I've had. It's combination of a brush/robber roller is an interesting way to prevent this from being an issue that works very well. Setup was equally good. It's easy to just open the app and add your robot. The app walks you through the process of adding the robot, getting it started with its "explore" run, and maintaining a schedule. I also like the ability to rename and label your rooms in the map that the robot creates. I also have it linked to Google Assistant so I can start the cleaning by voice or get its status. You can also designate zones or rooms that the robot shouldn't clean. For instance, I have an air purifier in one of our rooms, and I don't want the robot to vacuum next to it and accidentally pull its power cord. I drew a little box around that area and marked it as one not to vacuum. Pretty clever. Overall, this vacuum does an excellent job of cleaning every room and making it back to the dock with ease. The only problem I've had with the robot is it sometimes has problems vacuuming over the rug in my living room. It's kind of a shag rug, so think it's just sucking up some of the parts of the rug and getting caught. Pros: Excellent home navigation, great cleaning, easy-to-use Cons: It's a bit loud on hard woods, gotten stuck a couple of times on my shag-type rug

This latest iteration of the Shark IQ adds AI Laser Vision. What this equates to is much faster mappings of your home as well as superb object avoidance. I’ve never owned any of the previous Shark IQs (I’ve always purchased the other brand synonymous to robot vacs) and I’m very impressed overall, with a couple of caveats. I’ve been running the R201 for a few days now, first putting it through the ringer in the master bedroom suite of my home, which is equivalent to a Ninja Warrior course. Then I finally placed it in the garage. The master bedroom is about 300 sq ft in size with a king sized bed frame centered in the room, atop a very large shaggy shag rug. The rest of the room is hardwood. The underside of the bed had not seen a vacuum in months, and my two cats continue to spend most of their days napping under there. The biggest hurdle to me is the shag rug, which covers 75% of the floor. Most robot vacs get their side spin brushes caught underneath the rug preventing it from climbing over; I’m guessing this will confuse R201’s mapping algorithm. Shark R201: challenge accepted. The first run was the exploratory run. With AI Laser vision, it was able to map out a rough draft of my room in under 20 minutes! I was quite impressed. From there, it began its methodical path of cleaning the room, which took about 40 minutes. As I mentioned, it did struggle at times to get over the shag rug. After it returned to the dock, I was shocked to see the overflowing amount of filth it picked up when I emptied the large bin. Real nasty stuff. I waited for the vac to charge up to full (takes about 2-3 hours), and ran it again. Again, another bin full of dirt, dust, hair, and pet dander. Waited for it to charge to full, and ran it again. I did this about 6 times before I started to see the levels of dirt taper off. And with each run, the app was able to refine the recorded map even further. There were many hiccups along the way, but I attribute that to the difficulty in navigating through the shag rug. While in the master bedroom, I think the vac gave me 10+ errors ranging from the generic “Shark has experienced an error” to “Shark’s fluid reservoir is empty”. Wait what?! Fluid reservoir is empty?! This isn’t the mopping variant. Oftentimes, the Shark would just pause without cause. I don’t know if it’s done or needs to continue, but I'm guessing it had some trouble finding its way through the shag. Other times, it would actually say “low battery” but the darn thing is at 95% charged. The bugs need to be ironed out. When I finally moved it over to the garage, the Shark was in its element. It was able to map the garage in two exploratory runs and now it cleans the garage door every morning without any hitches. It is completely night and day moving to the garage. The garage floor is now clean to the touch. There is a small rug at the entrance to the home from within the garage, but it’s a low rug and the R201 can clean that, no problem. If there are low profile shoes lying around, it will try to climb over those because the laser paints a tad bit higher, so it’s best to get those out of the way. As a test, I placed random shoe boxes across the entire floor and it avoided them as designed and still completed its job. Although not required, the Shark Clean app will allow you to customize your home map with room names, do not enter zones and even high traffic areas. While the vac is running, you can even switch the power levels (eco, normal, max). One might question the sound level of this vac, especially if we are running this at bedtime. The sound is about normal for a robovac, more pronounced on hard floors and much quieter on carpet. In max power, it runs a bit louder. I think my favorite part of the vac is its ability to clean its own main spin brush. My current robot vac is often entangled in hair and I would have to remove it by hand; the R201 has special teeth that catch the hair and break it into pieces to allow it to pass through into the bin. Winner. The Shark R201 has a few underlying software and/or firmware issues. That I cannot ignore. But I can’t also ignore the fact that the hardware itself is very, very impressive at its price point. It has plenty of pick-up power and excels in methodical cleaning as opposed to the ping pong variant. It did struggle with shaggy rugs, so that's something to think about if you're in the market for one of these. If the Shark dev team can fix a few of the underlying software and/or firmware issues, then this robot vacuum is a very solid choice for your home.

    My New Best Friend

This is my first robotic vacuum cleaner and I’m really mad at myself for not getting one sooner. As someone who is slightly crazy about cleanliness, this vacuum has truly become my new best friend. Setup on this guy is really easy. The SharkClean app on your phone will walk you through everything to get this thing up and running. Just a few things to note about this process. First, the app does require you to create an account. Pretty standard for most apps, but just nice to know ahead of time that Shark does want your information in order to use their services. Second, this vacuum connects to the 2.4 GHz “band” of your home WiFi network. So be sure ahead of time that you have or have access to a dual band WiFi router. Third, an air filter is pre-installed in the vacuum, but you do need to attach the edge brushes. One extra set of both comes in the box for later use. Took a quick look at Shark’s website to see what replacement parts cost and it doesn’t look like that information is available yet, so not sure what it might look like to replace air filters or other parts down the road. Fourth, setting your vacuum up for use with Alexa is super easy and simply requires you to activate the Shark skill in the Alexa app. Just login to your Shark account and you’re good to go. Once your vacuum is set up, it needs to map your home. I live in a 950 sq. ft. apartment and this process took about 20 minutes. Once I opened the SharkClean app to view the map, I was honestly surprised at how accurate it was! It did a great job of mapping the full dimensions of my apartment and graying out areas where it couldn’t access, such as cabinets, shelves, bedroom furniture, etc. Once this mapping is complete, you can label rooms and mark additional “no-go” zones where you don’t want your robot to try and clean. The app also allows you to name your vacuum, schedule cleaning times, view the vacuum’s history, and get help from Shark if you’re having any issues. Design is simple and functionality is great. Of course the best thing about this Shark is just how good it is at doing what it was made to do...vacuum. I run my Shark vacuum almost every day and the dust bin is full after EVERY cleaning run. Whether it’s on carpeting or bare floors, this thing does great. I have yet to find hair tangled on the Powerfin roller or any issues with the spinning edge brushes. The vacuum can navigate in lit or completely dark rooms. I’m also very impressed by how well it does at avoiding obstacles with its AI Laser Vision. While it does still run into things on occasion, it has only gotten stuck two total times thus far; once on a high pile rug and another time on the base of an end table. I designated these areas as no-go zones and haven’t had an issue since. The vacuum tries getting out of challenging terrain by trying multiple exit routes and/ or lifting itself up. The way this vacuum cleans is also very esthetically pleasing. What I mean by that is it cleans row by row, creating perfectly even and straight vacuuming lines. There’s just something incredibly satisfying about that and knowing you didn’t have to do anything to achieve it. Definitely impresses guests. All in all, I couldn’t be happier with this vacuum. Shark obviously knows how to build a good cleaning product and this one lives up to that reputation. Really just can’t recommend it enough!!

    Smart Vacuum with AI Mapping

The Shark AI home robot vacuum comes in with its latest model to help ease the burden of home cleaning while its integrated AI system is meant to map your home for ease of use. Lets dive and see if this is a good fit. Out of the box its pretty basic what you'll receive. You will get the main unit, dust bin, docking station, and simple set of instructions. The unit will come with a free downloadable app as just about most products come with these day. The app is not necessary to use the vacuum however the app system greatly enhances its viability. Im not going to get in to the specs such as run time, dimensions and so forth as that can all be easily found on Best Buy's website. Instead i don't want to waste any time and would rather jump right in to how well the unit performs. First off let me start by saying i have personally owned 3 other Shark robot vacuums and the reliability on these units surpasses my expectations and in some cases some of the more expensive brand name units out on the market today. This unit is by far one of my favorite to date and here's why. The unit comes with a upgraded IR laser which is constantly scanning your house trying to determine your floor plan. This makes it especially critical to find a good docking spot for your unit and then not moving it so that it can accurately map your home. On the first go around you will notice that the unit will bang around the home carelessly almost as if it has no purpose. What is actually going on here is it is trying to determine the layout of your home so that it can better clean. For me personally it took about 15 to 20 mins for it to get a rough sketch of what my floor plan layout looks like. The first sketch it made was horrible and looked like a 7 year old drew it with some of the lines not connecting. However as it cleaned some more and become familiar with where it was and the layout of my floor plan, everything started to clean up and look alot more professional. After it maps your home it will try to figure out what it thinks each room is i.e. kitchen, bathroom, dining room, etc. This part is not very accurate however its not a big deal as you can go in to the app and re-label everything. Also if you decide you want to move the docking station like lets say to the basement, then no big deal. Through the app you can delete your old floor plan and have it start to map a new floor plan for you. After mapping was complete, which took roughly about 20 mins, the unit then proceeded to clean the floors in a more uniform up and down pattern. Obstacle detection is not perfect but it comes very close to it all courtsey of the built in IR lasers which are constantly scanning. The IR lasers are actually pretty cool as you can not physically see the lasers however when i was recording footage of it cleaning you could seem them on my phones camera which made it look more futuristic. Anyways, the dust bin is of adequate size and was enough to clean my 2000 sq ft main level area. Noise level is moderate meaning you can still hold a conversation and watch tv with out it being too much of a distraction however you will hear it coming. The suction power on the Shark units has always been solid. As a pet owner who struggles to get hair fibers out of my carpet the Shark does a great job in assisting me in this area. While it will not pull every single fiber up it grabs about 80 percent of the hair in the carpet making a visible difference which was good enough for me. The unit does not struggle getting over raised dividers that separate rooms nor will you ever have to worry about the unit falling off a set of stairs as the sensors will always prevent this. Shark has always provided magnetic strips to assist in No-Go areas, meaning you lay these strips down blocking off certain rooms or areas you do not want the robot to enter. One really nice upgrade to the unit is that you can now set up these No-Go areas all via the app. Once the unit maps your home simple designate which areas you want cleaned more and which areas you don't want cleaned at all. I uploaded some pictures to kind of help show what im talking about. Here's the bottom line guys. Shark makes some of the best products out there and i can personally testify to their quality. The very first Shark robot vacuum i bought was about 4 years ago and that unit is still running strong with no issues. The fact that the new units have everything integrated in to its app system including setting up No-Go zones is a big plus. Over all this a sure fire bet that i feel will please just about anyone thinking of buying their own personal AI vacuum.

Great Robot Vac - but wow is it loud

I already own an existing Shark Robot vacuum, so I'm pretty familiar with the line and have always been very impressed. The one that that really got me about the previous generations was how they blindly 'bounced' around the house almost cleaning at random - and I have been really impressed with the AI Laser Vision in this latest model. Firstly it does a quick run to 'map the house', and then going forward you can have it clean all rooms, or just specific ones that it knows how to navigate to. The AI movement is much more in line with what I've expect from a 'smart' robot - it navigates objects in its path without hitting them, accurately takes straight lines between points (for example back to the dock) and honestly does a great job of cleaning. One other new feature is that this model does not have a regular brush bar - it uses rubber strip on the roll, which on one hand is great - because you dont have to pull it out every other day and clean out the trapped hair. But wow is this thing loud. As I say, I'm familiar with the Shark line and is might be a combination of the rubber-strip roller slapping the floor, and just generally a more powerful vacuum - but its noticeable too loud to be in the room while its cleaning. If you are the kind of person who runs these while you're out of the house , then I would strongly recommend you look no further and buy this vacuum. Even if you are in the house while it runs, I would still recommend it - but dont expect it to run silently around the house. It might be that as the rubber strip starts to break in and soften, the noise might lessen - so I'm still big fan of the overall cleaning job it performs unattended, but I'll have to be selective about when it runs during the day/night. I reviewed this product as part of a technical evaluator scheme - but all the opinions express here are my own, unbiased observations using the product in my own house.

Very intelligent robot, able to avoid obstacle. The smart AI navigation map the house and clean row by row. Brushroll has fin and hair won't wrap the roller. Edge brushes spin slowly won't kick debris everywhere. Pretty quiet and clean very fast and picks up all the dust. The dust bin is easy to remove and can open very wide but some dust can get stuck at the gap next to the filter. However, it get stuck at certain type of stairs, see picture. Also not able to pick up all cat litter and leaves larger cat litter behind. Deduct 1 star for both.

I had a Neato Botvac Connected before getting this. Neato's app is a lot better, doesn't require me to constantly log into it like Shark's does for some unfathomable reason, and the mapping was a lot more precise. Shark's mapping is much less accurate. But it does a pretty decent job at cleaning so I guess we'll keep it. It's not as good as the Neato at cleaning edges that have dirt or debris though, so around the cat's litterbox it can leave litter behind near walls. It also seems to take slightly longer than my Neato to clean the same area. It doesn't bump into things as much as my Neato did, which is good and bad because it could easily go a little closer to edges without bumping into them I think. If it weren't for the annoying App, it would probably be a 4 star device. So far nothing has broken on it after almost 2 months. The whole reason I bought this was because of how unreliable my Neato was.

Bought this in "22" Over all does a decent job cleaning The App sucks. Cant access it to change parameter. We re arrange furniture every once in a while and we cant remap the area. Loses connection often. Has issue finding the doc as well. Sometimes gets lost under the couch. Not stuck just loses Wouldn't buy again since the app doesnt work right. Also, I bought thinking "self cleaning meant it was one that emptied itself. This is not the case. My mistake but I feel the description was a little deceptive.

Works really well when used properly. We have a very cluttered house with 3 children and it is able to navigate around almost everything. There is the occasional hiccup where he gets stuck, but we don’t blame it. The app notifies you and you take care of it. It can clean in the middle of the night however we’ve found that it can have difficulty finding its dock afterwards so we typically schedule cleaning for mid day where it has light to assist in navigating. We schedule cleaning one room a day by using Alexa. Hopefully the app will continue to be updated as it still is limited.

I went to purchase a new Neato but they were out of stock in store. I decided on this on because it vacuums in a straight line pattern also and has the self cleaning brush. Boy, I have been impressed. There is no dog hair caught up in the brush and no dog hair on the floor. I love how it goes over thick rugs with no problems. It even handles the shag rug at the doggie door with no problem! My only issue has been getting it to map my whole house. I still can't figure that part out. I live in a long house with all doors open and nothing blocking the path. Wide open. Tried multiple times and the last time, it skipped a room it got on the first 2 tries? After I take all Christmas things down, I am going to try to remap the house and if it still doesn't work, I am going to call Shark to see what they can help me with. If they can help me with that, I will increase my rating to 5 stars.

I love this! I have an area rug that has a thicker pile and it runs right over it! Its so nice having to come home to clean floors. I have 3 dogs, 2 cats and a toddler and this makes my life easier by having one less task as home. I still use my Shark upright vacuum about once or twice a week on the rugs but this robot vacuum helps with upkeep of pet hair and crumbs from my toddler

Works great! It took a few tries to connect it to my wifi but It only took once to map my home properly. The first time I ran it, I was surprised at how much dust it picked up. I was able to schedule when it vacuums. It only got stuck once and afterwards I set the no-go zone under my entertainment center and it never got stuck again. Works just like it says and avoids objects. Just make sure your lights are on when it runs. I haven’t figured out how to link it to my Alexa yet, but it’s been great with the app on my phone.

I've only used it once so far. It did a good job picking up most of the dust on my laminate floors, vinyl floors & area rugs. I had no problems pairing the app with the robot. I really like being able to tell Alexa to have the robot clean. I do wish that the battery had been charged out if the box because i had tried to map my house & it had to be recharged midstream. It is a bit loud & does take a lot longer to vacuum than when i do it myself.

Great robot vacuum. The mapping and high traffic areas are really good on the app. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead if 5 is bc the mapping was a little more involved and had to do it twice. Also, it is loud on wood floors. But the trade off is that is has more suction than the previous robot vacuum. I wish they would allow you to send it to a specific room in your house......maybe a future update perhaps.
