I love my Shark vaccuum, handheld vac and air purifier, but I am so disappointed in the performance of this robot vac. First impression out of the box: it's super lightweight, and also cheap looking. The dustbin is tiny and can be tricky to open up. The mopping "bin" really didn't want to snap on. It was difficult, but I finally got it attached after fighting with it for a few minutes. Coming from an iRobot that was 6 years old, this vaccuum is a serious dissapointment. Unlike the roomba, it doesn't figure out the location of objects as it goes along. It insists on only cleaning in a pattern and will skip over certain areas only to backtrack later. It has ended up spending a lot of its very limited battery life cleaning the same areas multiple times. It spins around in circles while it appears to be "thinking," then goes and vaccuums the same area it just finished. The only positive I can say is that it docks itself better than our old Roomba. I can't speak on the mopping ability at all as I haven't tried to map that yet, but I don't have very high hopes for it based on the way it vaccuums. I was under the impression based on this item description that it could actually scrub floors based on how this was marketed, but it only has the tiny bristles that pull dirt in, and a normal brushroll. The description said it could scrub while mopping but that can't be true, so I feel that was misleading. I will update this review if see any improvement as far as mapping goes, but right now it gets 2 stars simply because the vaccuum works, although nowhere near as well as our old roomba.

This was my first time using a cleaning bot, and I really optimistic at first glance. Seemed to be a decent budget alternative to comparable midgrade bots from others companies. I set it up, let it fully charge, lightly sweeped, removed large obstacles and wires laying around, and let it map the floor. I was pretty impressed with the initial mapping process and results; it detected the stairs, got over small ledges, got in and out of places pretty well. The dirt bin was full of dust and hair and whatnot, seemed pretty good. So I let it fully recharge again, set the rooms and no-go zones in the app, and had it vacuum at the strongest setting. It was doing alright until it reached the stairs, then it froze and the app notified me that it was about to fall and needed to be saved again. I picked it up, cleaned the four cliff sensors, and tried it again. Stalled at the stairs again. Tried it a few more times, until eventually I just barricaded the stairs to prevent it entirely. After that, it was just issue after issue. Weirdest was when I sent it out to mop and it left the dock, moved about a foot away, spun a couple times, and went right back to the dock. No notifications, no errors, nothing. Tried it three times in a row, same thing. In the end, I decided to return it. It does work sometimes, it can vacuum and mop, but it really can't be called automated. You have to constantly watch it, be ready to save it or make it resume work. In over a dozen attempts at cleaning, I don't think it fully finished a job once without issue. I read the FAQ's, cleaned the sensor several times, deleted and remapped my floor, etc.. I have mostly laminate flooring with a couple rugs, not a variety of difficult terrain. I shouldn't need to set no-go zones to tell a robot with LiDAR how to not fall off stairs. After all that hassle, I decided to buy another cleaning robot to see if it'd be any better; an extremely expensive one. I won't say which one to avoid sounding like I'm shilling for them, but it's night and day. The app is so much more robust, every feature is functional and impressive. With the Shark, my impression of cleaning robots was 'I guess the tech just isn't there yet'. With the other one, it's 'the future is now'. It's so good, I'm more and more convinced it justifies the price. So I'm not going easy on the Shark in review. I gave it 2/5 because it does do the job, just not without issues. Issues that I'm hoping Shark can fix with future updates. Rating it on performance alone, I'd give it a 3/5. The vacuum isn't strong enough to pick up everything, and the mop does work pretty well (but there do seem to be more app errors when mopping). The app and software gets a 1/5 though. After downloading the app for the other one, I realized how barebones and janky the Shark app is. But these are things that can be fixed and improved. Would I recommend buying it? No. Maybe I got a defective unit (I doubt it) and it actually performs much better than my experience, but the app alone would still make it a no. Right now, my verdict on cleaning robots is go big or go home. And clean your home once you get there, cause your robot probably didn't.

I wanted to love this so much and there are things I do love about it but it definitely falls short. First, its not super effective vacuuming. If you have pets this probably isn't the one for you. Second, the brush roll constantly gets stuck. Even if you get it clear its like its jammed or something and it is not easy to unscrew everything to check it out and clean. Third, my mop part stopped working after about 3 months and Shark was not helpful at all. I've had mine just over a year and I'm already looking for a replacement.

I wish I would have waited to get a newer model. Sometimes it can’t find the base to recharge. If does find the base sometimes it doesn’t set correctly to recharge. It also gets stuck a lot and leaves streak marks. I expected more for the amount I paid.

Vacuum is horrible. It only lasted me 4 months, now it will no longer mop. Error code states its empty. Shark has no knowledge of this vacuum or its model number to even assist with the issue.

The vaccum works fine but the tank is so small and gets full so easily. Highly recommend to take the one with outside disposal. The mop gets stuck when switching between carpet to tile. Will return and thinking about getting different model, may be!

I thought that this could vacuum carpet and mop the floors without having to take the cartridge off but you can not. My house is very small and I have to refill the mop water after one cleaning.

App initially starts out strong, walking you through most of the setup, but then things got a bit confusing for me when it came to carpet zone verification. The app makes it sound like the robot will trace an outline outside of your carpet zones, but it actually traces the inside. Fine tuning the outline of your carpets in the app is cumbersome. Our other vac can distinguish between carpeted/non-carpeted areas, so I was a little disappointed that the Shark couldn’t do the same. When defining rooms/zones in the map, it won’t allow you to set any dividers/walls to anything other than a 90 degree angle. We have one room, which also happens to be a transition from hard floor to carpet, that is at about a 45 degree angle from the main room. So I either set the carpet area smaller, which then gives us a wet carpet, or set the carpet area larger which results in a section of the hard floor not getting mopped. It doesn’t appear to cross a carpeted area to get to a non-carpeted area for mopping, which I guess is a good thing, but something to be aware of. You switch between vac and vac&mop mode by virtue of attaching the mop fluid reservoir. If it’s attached, it’ll vac & mop; if it isn’t, it’ll just vac. The scheduling function is very lacking. You can only have one schedule per day, and it’s fixed to clean everywhere - you can’t schedule specific rooms or zones. Big miss there. Hopefully they can improve in future software/firmware releases. As for vacuuming performance, it does a pretty good job. It definitely does a better job along baseboards/furniture than our other robot vac. Mopping performance is fine as well, considering that’s basically just dragging a microfiber pad across the floor. As with any other robot vac we’ve had, they just can’t compete with the results of using a manual vac/mop, but the convenience is a definite bonus. Overall, I think it has potential, assuming Shark can make a few tweaks/enhancements to the app functionality. However, in its current state, I couldn’t yet recommend this to a friend.

So I am a huge fan of these robo smart vacuums because I have a dog and she sheds quite a bit! This particular shark vacuum I find that it has a shorter battery life than my other shark vacuums and as for the mopping feature it’s not really the best. I actually thought it would be different but Unfortunately not impressed by its cleaning, I always am finding things that it does not pick up and misses “the mopping feature” also leaves spots like it doesn’t fully mop and also it’s like it’s cleaning with dirty water all over the place. Not sure why or if there is an option to reset it? My house 100% hardwood so we can see everything. As for the app I guess you can say that would be the only good feature because you can set schedules with a click of a button and view the history of the cleanings as well. I probably would recommend this for a smaller space maybe a studio apartment or 1 bedroom but definitely not a whole house with multiple rooms since it does not even do the whole house with one battery life, have to charge and start again (basically run it twice to get the house somewhat cleaned)
