    Awesome Cleaning Machine!

The Shark cordless vacuum is an awesome cleaning machine! It sports an auto empty system, is lightweight, easy maneuverable and offers an auto sensing brushroll which adjusts to various floor heights and carpeting. The vacuum is lightweight, weighing in around 12 pounds. Since it is so lightweight it is highly maneuverable. It has an auto-empty base which according to the manufacturer holds up to 30 days of dust and debris. LED headlights on the vacuum head help illuminate dust and your targeted cleaning areas especially in those dark corners of one’s home. The brushroll is capable of cleaning hardwood floors, tiles or carpeting. There is no need to adjust the vacuum for the floor type and manages to clean effortlessly. The auto-adjusting brushroll automatically adapts to different floor types optimizing cleaning performance all by itself. It has approximately 40 minutes of runtime which should be more than sufficient time to vacuum your entire house without a recharge. My home is approximately 1750 square feet and I had plenty of battery to vacuum my entire house with recharging. One of my favorite features of this product is the auto-empty system. When vacuum is placed onto its doc, it auto empties and charges itself making itself ready for your next cleaning session. The vacuum has a Hepa filtration system which is designed to reduce dust exposure which is a big plus for those consumers suffering from allergens. Overall, the Shark is well-suited for those looking for a convenient and efficient cordless vacuum with advanced features like auto-emptying and adaptive brushroll technology. The Shark cordless vacuum is a versatile and convenient cleaning machine, which is fun to use. With its advanced features and ultra modern design, it’s sure to be an hit with consumers. So far, my household is very happy with this product and its high on my recommended list

I have been a user of cordless “stick” vacuums for the past five years and find them to be just as good at cleaning and way more convenient to use than their corded and heavy counterparts. This Shark Clean & Empty cordless vacuum (model BU3521) is billed as being an “ultra-light cordless” that also utilizes an “auto-empty system” incorporated into the charging stand that holds the vacuum when not in use. The vacuum can be used as a floor vacuum utilizing a long wand with a powered nozzle that contains a motorized brushroll with lights, or as a hand vacuum without the wand but with the nozzles attached directly to the handheld vacuum unit. This model came with a motorized floor nozzle, a crevice tool, and a “pet multi-tool” in which the brush snaps on and off of the tool. The auto-empty system activates each time you hang the vacuum on the charging stand (AKA dock), with the dirt and debris being sucked out of the dust cup on the vacuum and into a larger dust bin at the bottom of the dock base. This larger dust bin is just that, a container without a bag like some other systems use. The nice thing is that you empty this large bin much less often as opposed to a vac that has to have its small dust cup emptied every time you use the vacuum which usually creates a small cloud of dust that doesn’t all end up in the trash can and potentially in your face. The auto-emptying feature happens each time you hang up the vac on the dock so that it is ready to go the next time you need to use it, but there is a button to defeat this feature. This is in case you don’t want the noise the dock motor creates when it sucks the debris from the vacuum’s dust cup, such as late at night when it might disturb others in the household. This button has a moon-shaped icon on it to denote nighttime use and the “moon” illuminates when this quiet mode is engaged. The dock charges and stores the vacuum in addition to emptying the vacuum and storing the debris. Full charging takes about 4.5 hours according to the manufacturer. There is a prominent light on the battery that glows green when it is fully charged. The wand needs to be attached to the hand vacuum in order to charge as the electrical contacts for charging are at the top end of the wand. The hand vacuum can be used without the wand and floor nozzle such as when cleaning furniture. The battery is removable and has a charging port on it to accept a cord from a charger. This type of charger is not included with this vacuum, but appears to be available on Shark’s web site along with additional batteries (I consider the battery price to be reasonable when compared to batteries for power tools). The charging dock, with the vacuum in place, takes up an area about 11” x 15” on the floor. The overall height is 43.5”, but overhead clearance of 46” is needed to get the vacuum on and off the dock. The dock provides tool storage for only one of the included tools, the crevice tool. There are two other tools available for purchase from Shark according to the owner’s guide, but unfortunately, a hose is not one of them. The full owner’s guide is available as a downloadable document only and the only paper documentation that comes with the vacuum is a Quick Start Guide that includes maintenance information and safety warnings. During use, the Cordless Clean & Empty vacuum is light and easy to maneuver. Sometimes a little too easy to maneuver as it glides over hard-surface floors with very little resistance. The powered floor nozzle which will undoubtedly get the most use by owners, has a couple quirks that are unique and may take some getting used to depending on the vacuum you were using in the past. The LED lights are mounted at the top of the nozzle above the large brushroll and the light seems to be directed to the floor via the clear plastic housing. This angle does not illuminate debris on the floor quite as well as lights mounted down low on the leading edge of the nozzle. The articulated joint where the wand meets the head forces the head to always swivel left and right as you tilt the handheld unit from side to side and this limits your ability to steer the floor nozzle under furniture and around legs, thus limiting your reach under some obstacles. Also the floor nozzle will “lock” at a 90 degree angle to the wand if you accidentally pull it too far back towards you and this feature accidentally engages. That means you have to place a foot on the nozzle to snap it free from the locked position so you can continue vacuuming. The controls on the handheld motor unit consist of two simple buttons, one is on/off for power, and the other cycles between Auto mode, Eco mode, and Boost mode. Eco mode provides sufficient suction power for non-carpeted floors and it also gives the longest runtime. I found the amount of suction generated is on par with competitors (I have no way to quantify this performance though) and I found vacuuming to be relatively easy on low-nap carpet. When you transition from hard flooring to carpet in Auto mode, the vacuum automatically senses this and increases suction and RPM speed of the brushroll. If you are on carpet with a deep pile, this increase in power can make the vacuum very difficult to push and pull. The Boost mode offers greater suction power, but I found that this is of little value on carpet because of even greater resistance to moving the vacuum. I found no need to manually switch to Boost mode on hard-surface floors, so I suspect it may be best used on furniture while using the crevice or multi-tool. The powered floor nozzle has some ingenious, short tines that keep long hair from wrapping around the brushroll and they do work as my wife leaves a lot of hair on the floor and I found none encircling the brushroll after cleaning the house, like I have in years gone by with other vacuums. The brushroll and filters are very easily removed without tools for cleaning. All of the filtering media in both the handheld vacuum unit and the charging stand, are washable with plain water (do not use soap) when needed. It appears from the literature that the main filter in the dock is a HEPA filter and the one in the vacuum itself is not - as far as I can tell. The vacuum comes with a five-year warranty (two years on the battery) which is pretty amazing considering the price point of this vacuum. Having a cleaning tool that is easy to use can make home chores more pleasant - I will stop short of saying fun - and the Shark Clean & Empty is about as good as it gets for this. If you are tired of lugging around a big, heavy, inconvenient, corded vacuum, you owe it to yourself to try a modern take on an appliance that has been around forever and see just how much better the experience can be.

The Clean and Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum provides a great balance between power and a convenient, light-weight design with an awesome auto-empty feature. Design The vacuum has a compact and light-weight handle/motor unit. It's easy to work with and attach to the stick or other included tools. The fact that it's so light makes it great for things like using the crevice tool to go up steps and get all the corners. Places to open compartments to empty it or access filters are well marked and easy to use. I like the way the roller in the floor unit slides out from the right for easy access and complete cleaning of the whole roller assembly. The base is great! It can be a pain to mount holders on the wall so I actually like the floor stand. It not only holds it and charges it, but also empties it, which is great! There is also a place to store the crevice tool but not the brush attachment. The compartment that holds the dirt is easy to remove and empty. There are two buttons to control the vacuum. One power button and a button to switch between ECO, Normal, or Boost modes. Features - There is floor detection that switches the vacuum between spinning the roller faster for carpets or much less for hard floors. The detection worked well with hard floors. On my rugs, which are pretty flat, it didn't always go into carpet mode. In fact it tends to switch back and forth on the rug. I didn't really see it as a problem but wanted to point that out. There is no manual switch between carpet and hard floor mode. - This is a very light-weight vacuum! I was impressed by the power it has for how light it is. It makes using it as a handheld vacuum very easy to do! I've been using it mostly on "Normal" mode. If I set it to eco I'm sure it would last longer. There is also Boost for when more power is needed. I think it has plenty of power on normal for general use but Boost is a great option to have for extra tough to clean small areas. - The crevice tool that's included has a funky flip-over brush that actually works great! Please see the attached pictures. I found it especially useful for vacuuming hard wood steps. At first I questioned the design since there are no brush bristles on the bottom. In actual use though, I found that it works well for me to loosen dirt at the front and sides, then it vacuums it up. I love the fact that the brush is attached to the crevice tool so I don't need something separate. The crevice tool is really great for the steps because this vacuum is so crazy light! - A "pet' multi-tool (small attachment with a much larger opening than the crevice tool) is also included. This did a great job on some dirty fabric car upulstry, pulling out fuzzy things that were stuck in the seats. The multi-tool includes a detachable brush. - There is a clip that attaches to the bottom of the wand that has a holder for the hand unit. If that's confusing, I get it. Please see my attached picture. I didn't understand what it was for at first, but this is great! It lets me stand it up and have the holder attached to the stand. This is useful because otherwise, you can't have it stand upright on its own because it would fall over. - There are a whole bunch of LED lights along the front of the floor unit that light the area you're vacuuming well, which is great for going under furniture. - The Stand is a feature rich feather by itself! Keep reading for more on that below. Auto-Empty/Charging Dock/Stand I love the Dock/Stand for a number of reasons! I feel like the design is excellent and well thought out. Yes, the stand charges the vacuum and automatically empties it. Mounting them on walls can be a pain depending on the wall and so I love that this is free standing, and can be easily moved. It empties as soon as you put the vacuum on it. It then charges. It's pretty loud when it empties, just like using the vacuum, but it only runs for 10 seconds or so until it's done. I feel like this has a few benefits, 1. The vacuum itself is kept empty, 2. It's kept charged, 3. It keeps the hand-held unit light-weight, not filling up with dirt to make it heavier. 4. Keeps the suction stronger for each use by actively pulling dirt out from the hand-held unit, keeping it from getting clogged. One other nice feature the base has is "night mode". Just press that button and a moon will light up on it. As long as that is lit, the vacuum will not be emptied. Even it you take if off and put it back on a few times. I even had the power go out and it stayed in night mode when power came back on. It's a great way to keep from waking somebody up. There is spot, down at the floor to store the crevice tool. The container that holds the dirt is easy to remove and then there's a button to empty it once you have over a trash can. There was a warning sticker on the vacuum telling you to make sure that the door closed correctly (from the auto empty feature) before you use the vacuum again, so you do want to check that. I had it not close correctly one time because some dirt was stuck in there. It was very easy to fix, still it's good to check this. Do be aware, you need to have the handheld unit connected to the wand extension for the vacuum to charge or empty. It will not charge or empty if you just have the crevice tool attached for instance. You can charge the battery or the handheld without the base. You just need to unplug the power cord from the base and plug it directly into the battery. The battery can be in the handheld unit or removed from the handheld unit. Does it work well? I've talked about features but you buy a vacuum to suck up dirt. So does it do that? Yes! It does a good job with dirt, both as an upright and a handheld. I think it's strong for a battery powered vacuum and with Boost mode, it's very strong but don't expect the battery to last. I've very satisfied with the suction power of this vacuum and even surprised at time by how well it works for the size. Battery Life This is going to very based on usage, of course. Do you use it in Eco mode or Boost mode, is it using the roller attachment and spinning the roller, do you just vacuum a little at a time? I was happy with the battery life. They claim 40 minutes. I'm sure that's possible though I'm not sure which mode or modes that would include. There are four bars that show the battery life. I think that's enough but more would be nice to gauge it better. The display is very easy to see, so checking the battery, as well as the operating mode, is easy. The base does make it easy to charge. Summary I found this vacuum to be small and feature-rich with plenty of power. It works well on carpets and hard floors as well as cleaning harder to get places like steps and car interiors - especially because of its light weight. I love the free standing base with charging and auto-empty!!!

Shark Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum

I have to admit, I’m torn on how many stars to give this vacuum. First off, it has great suction and really picks up the dirt. The automatic brush roll had no problem detecting when I went from carpet to hard floors which is important because part of my floor is LVT and brush rolls can be rough on that kind of tile. But it seems pretty gentle when it slows down so I’m not too worried. I like the auto empty feature and the fact that it doesn’t empty into a costly disposable bag. Battery life is great, I can do the whole house on one charge (1500 sq ft). It’s light in weight and if you drop off the brush roll head and add the included accessory brush, cobwebs don’t stand a chance. Easy to clean them up one handed. The whole vacuum and base doesn’t take up much space and it looks good. The dust bin is easy to empty straight into the trash if you don’t want to use the auto empty base. So we’re looking at five stars just based on all that. Where it comes apart is the length, or more appropriately, the lack of length. It’s too short for me. I’m 6’4” but I usually don’t have a problem with length on a vacuum. I have to bend over slightly to use this. My other stick vac is about 3” longer and it’s more comfortable. It has several LED lights but they don’t seem to throw much light. Not a deal breaker since I generally don’t vacuum in the dark anyway. The other thing is see is a lot of flex where the wand attaches to the suction head. It just feels flimsy there. Not so confident that this won’t be a problem down the road. So I’m thinking three stars here. If I average it out, I’m going to give this vacuum four stars with an asterisk to try before you buy if you’re taller?

I have been using the Shark Cordless Clean and Empty vacuum since the day I got it, and it quickly became my favorite. It is easy to put together and comes with 2 additional attachments that are very useful for vacuuming in tight areas and for brushing couches. The vacuum itself is lightweight, making it smooth to use around my 1000 sqft home. It also auto-adjusts to different floor types, doing an amazing job on both tile and carpet. Even on my large rug, which my previous vacuum struggled with, the Shark vacuum performs excellently and doesn't get stuck. There's a tiny inconvenience with the small dust bin, especially for larger homes since it needs to be emptied more often. Additionally, when I purposely let the dust bin fill up to test its suction power, I found that it struggled to remove the trash on its own, requiring manual intervention. To avoid this issue, I now let it auto-empty every time. Despite this minor inconvenience, I still believe it does a great job of picking up all debris. A great feature is that all parts and filters are washable, and the bottom trash bin doesn't need a bag, making it easy to take off and dump out. The self-cleaning brush is a huge plus for me, as I hate cleaning stuck-on hair. The battery holds up well, even when running the vacuum at the highest speed, although that can drain the battery quickly. Overall, I am very impressed with its performance.

Vacuuming at my house is a serious business. My house is a combination of hard floor and carpet areas and I have a couple of pets that shed tons of hair. In my quest to find the ideal vacuum cleaner, I currently own several types, from a Roomba style to a corded and two cordless cleaners. The Shark Cordless Clean & Empty Stick Vacuum is the newest and fifth member in my collection. Will it be the game changer I’ve been looking for? Assembly was simple and easy and it took less than an hour for the battery to fully charge. At first glance, the notable features of this product include its lightweight construction and sleek design; the handle housing the battery at the end looks futuristic. The machine fits snuggly on its base that also serves as a charging station. Using it is a breeze. The controls are neatly placed at the top and consist of an LED display for the battery level and cleaning modes and a pair buttons: one to turn it on or off and one to toggle between the cleaning modes. There are three modes: eco that saves energy, boost that prioritizes suction and auto that varies the power as it automatically adjusts to the floor type. The noise level is average for a vacuum cleaner, it gets louder on carpet in auto mode and when using the boost mode. It is very nimble and achieves quick turns in cramped spaces better than any stick vacuums I’ve owned, plus the lightweight helps even more. However, the best part is when I dock it to its base station, It whirrs to life, automatically emptying the dust cup into a dust container inside the base station that can be easily removed at the press of a button. Very handy especially since the dust cup is on the small side and quickly fills up with pet hair and dust. Another nice option is the quiet button on top of the base station that can be used in case you don’t want to empty the dust cup right away. Performance wise, the Shark Cordless Clean & Empty Stick Vacuum does a good job at cleaning. I always use the auto mode since I have a combination of carpets and hard floors. In auto mode, it switches seamlessly between surfaces and it’s noticeable by the noise level and the color coded light indicators for carpets and hard surfaces located on top of the floor nozzle. On both surfaces, I noticed that I have to do several passes until everything is picked up from the floor. Pet hair tends to stick to my carpets and it is the biggest challenge. With the floor nozzle, it took several slow passes to fully clean the area. I also tried the ‘pet multi-tool’ provided and it was more of a frustration than a solution. I have other vacuum cleaners that seem to have more suction power, but this one does the job in the end. One other minor issue I noticed is its tendency to come back to the stand-up position too easily while vacuuming; it might be due to its lightweight. I’ve only used it on floor surfaces and have yet to try above the floor with the crevice tool. I never had issues with the battery; it lasts with each use, even longer ones and since the cleaner is docked to its base station when I’m finished it immediately recharges, No complaints there. Overall, the Shark Cordless Clean & Empty Stick Vacuum is definitely worth considering for those looking for a good performing stick vacuum cleaner. Is it the game changer I’ve been looking for? No, but I truly like it for its impressive lightweight, great nimbleness and a battery that’s more than adequate. The self emptying and charging base station brings in some real magic and the modern looks certainly doesn’t hurt. I only wish it had a little bit more suction power to make it my favorite.

First having a cordless household floor duty vacuum, major change in having a corded one that has its dust and debris compartment along with it. This is lightweight and has a separate emptying bin. You’ll have to make some trips to and fro the auto empty system depending on your floor situation. We do have quite a lot to clean up on living and bedroom floors and the kitchen tile. The auto sensing roll brush I think it’s a good feature that changes speed sensing the different floor surfaces whether hard surface or carpet. However just at a few times there are times when the LED indicator was on blue from purple (I think switching to hard surface from carpet mode) for a brief moment and I may have had the handle nearly at a 90 vs maybe at say 120-140 degree angle. There’s different modes to choose whether eco mode or boost; my default is just the auto mode for now. It lasts 40 mins on battery and on a full charge on the vacuum interface- shows four bars.. so I’d assume 10 mins each bar. I would like to get spare batteries and maybe a standalone battery charger if they do have such an accessory in the near future, which can double the time when cleaning a big house. But great product and Shark doesn’t disappoint.

The Shark - Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum is a great tool for cleaning your home and the auto-empty feature makes it very convenient. Following are my observations after using it to vacuum my house several times: - The vacuum came neatly packaged. When you open the box top there is a Quick Start Guide on the box, as well as a QR code to scan for instructions, plus there were instructions included in the box also. - Assembly was quick and easy. The Quick Start Guide was easy to follow. There are also easy to follow directions on how to maintain and clean the filters and dust bins on both the docking station and handvac.. - It comes with a 5-year limited warranty and a 2-year warranty on the battery. - A Duster Crevice Tool and Pet Multi-Tool are also included in the box. - The vacuum is lightweight and compact, so it does not take up a lot of space. - It has an LED display which shows the battery status and which cleaning mode you are on. - There are LED lights on the front of the vacuum that are bright enough to be able to see under furniture while vacuuming. - The vacuum has 3 modes of cleaning - ECO is the lowest setting and saves battery power; Auto is the middle setting and is nice because it automatically adjusts to different floor types when switching between carpet and hard surfaces like tile or wood; and Boost provides the strongest setting, while using the most battery. - I have used it on the Auto setting to vacuum my house and the battery lasted approximately 20 minutes on a full charge. If I use it on ECO setting the whole time, I can get about 45 minutes of run time. - While each setting provides more suction, I found the ECO setting to provide great suction for normal vacuuming use, and this provides the most battery life. The Auto setting is nice for the automatic adjustments between floor types. The Boost setting would use the battery life the quickest. I didn't find a need for that much suction in my house, but if you have an area that needs a little more attention, it is nice to be able to do a quick switch to Boost mode. Overall, I felt the vacuuming suction was great! - The vacuum is lightweight and it makes it very easy to vacuum my stairs. - I also used the handheld part to vacuum off my furniture, which was very lightweight and made cleaning the furniture very convenient. I do not have any shedding pets in my home, but I can see where the handheld mode with the Pet Multi-Tool would come in super handy for cleaning all furniture, curtains, etc. - After every use you just put the vacuum on the base and it automatically empties the vacuum and charges it for your next use. I love this feature! it is so nice to not have to empty the vacuum each time. It says the base will hold dirt and debris for up to 30 days. I haven't had it that long yet, but I did empty the base to try it out and it was an easy process. The charging base is also compact and does not take up much space. If the entire battery has been used up, it takes about 2.5 hours to fully recharge it. - This vacuum is not as loud as most vacs I've used. Overall, I am really impressed by the Shark - Clean & Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum! It provides great suction, is well-designed with a number of great features and is very light weight, and the automatic emptying and charging feature makes it very convenient. I highly recommend this vacuum!

This is my 4th Shark cordless vacuum, and they have all been outstanding. This new model adds the convenience of having a docking station that not only charges the battery but also empties the dustbin whenever the vacuum is placed in the dock. The vacuum is very similar to the most recent Shark I got which is the Detect Pro. This new vacuum is very lightweight and easy to assemble. The vacuum has 3 parts consisting of the main power head, wand and floor brush. The docking station consists of 2 parts. There are also a crevice tool and pet brush for furniture. The docking station has what they call a quiet mode which turns off the auto empty function so if you are only doing a small area and the dustbin on the vacuum does not fill up you don’t have to empty it. The emptying function works great and removes all the dirt in the vacuum. The vacuum itself provides more than enough suction for carpets and hard floors. The vacuum moderates suction based on the surface you are cleaning. The display on the top shows the battery level and provides 3 different settings for Eco, Auto and Boost. Auto will adjust the suction based on the flooring you are using it on. The floor brush features LED lighting which is always a big plus. There are filters for both the vacuum and docking station that can be washed with water only. Even though the battery is charged in the docking station it is still removable and there is a charging port, but the vacuum does not come with a charger. The quick start guide lists the chargers that can be purchased separately if needed. I tend to vacuum different areas of my house at different times, so I have not really seen how much battery life it has. So far, I have not run out of battery for my cleaning needs. Like all of Shark’s vacuums this performs as well as any of them with the benefit of having the docking station to empty the vacuum and charge the battery. I would not hesitate to recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for a light weight and powerful vacuum with all the added features.

The Shark - clean and empty cordless stick vacuum is not my first vacuum of this type. In fact, I have more than a couple stick vacuums from other brands. Some, like this Shark clean and empty have the automatic emptying canister and some don't. I am a big fan of these types of vacuums and it seems that every year, the next generation gets better and better. This particular vacuum, in my opinion, is the best one I have had so far. The Shark is extremely light weight. It feels much lighter than the others that I have. The motor and canister are not just light weight, they are also slim. These are two attributes that I really think are important in this type of vacuum. The Shark is simple to put together. Everything just snaps into place. The stand serves double duty as both a charging stand and the automatic emptying base. One thing with this Shark that I really like is the fact that when you remove it from the charging/emptying base, the canister on the vacuum itself closes. The other vacuums I have do not, and I often find myself vacuuming with the little door open and after realizing it, I have to go back over everything again. It is something simple, but is super nice to have. The battery lasts for a long time and charges fast. Maybe the number one thing in a vacuum is suction power. The Shark is more than strong enough to handle any type of floor. This particular Shark also has the ability to sense the workload and adjust the power level according to how much is needed. The whole package is slim enough to fit into a corner for easy access and blends into its surroundings. the cleaning head has a bright led light and excellent pick up on both hard wood and carpet. It comes with a couple accessories for corners and couches. I really haven't found any negatives to bring out, so it comes as no surprise that I think this would be a good choice for anyone in the market.
