This is an easy to program model, very mush like the Roomba we had in the past but much more high tech than the older models were. We live that we can program it to vacuum at a set time each day. A pitfall is that we sometimes forget to close a door to a room that has some cords on the floor and scatter rugs and the machine has gotten stuck several times. We haven’t tried the strip that came with it that tells it not to enter. Overall, we really love the convenience of this machine with 2 cats and a dog to pick up after. Our home has laminate flooring throughout. It does a great job at picking up, emptying as many times as needed and recharging. We haven’t needed to empty the big tank that everything gets sucked into yet.

---SETUP--- The setup of the Shark IQ Robot vacuum was simple. You just plug the base making sure that it is against a wall and that on the left and right it has 3 feet of clearance and 5 feet in front of it. If you are installing it on a carpet, it comes with a plastic base extension. I installed it on hardwood floor, so I didn’t use the extension. The robot itself is ready to go except for installing 2 bristles by snapping them. Additionally, if there is a place you don’t want your robot to travel to, you can install a special tape that prevents the robot from going into a room or a section of a room, like under a couch or to a place that may be riddled with cables. ---FEATURES--- The key feature of this vacuum unit is that upon docking itself, the dock will suck up whatever the robot vacuumed. This is a neat feature because you don’t have to constantly empty the robot vacuum. It’s meant to store 30 days of dirt, but based on how much there is in your home, that may vary. For people with big houses, theres a feature that allows the robot vacuum to clean until close to battery drain, return to base to recharge for 4 hours, then resume cleaning where it last stopped. ---PERFORMANCE--- The performance of the vacuum was excellent. If you watch it for the duration of the time, which you probably will because it’s entertaining, you will be amazed at how carefully it rounds corners to make sure it gets everything. Two bristles will circle debri towards the center so that it can really get things in corners. The one thing I wasn’t able to do was to connect it to Alexa. I used the Alexa app and added the Shark Skill as explained in the Shark IQ app, but it would refuse to recognize the vacuum. Regardless, the Shark IQ app itself is easy to understand and use, so I don’t mind using the app to start and stop it if necessary. That being said, it is a touted feature and it a bit unfortunate that it didn’t work. It is supposed to work with Google Home as well, but I didn’t try it with that device. ---EXPECTATIONS--- The product exceeds my expectations. Using the Shark IQ app, the robot will begin to map your house. It may take several days of mapping the house. For me, it has done 32% in 5 days and it seems to have been stuck there for a while now. However, it still cleans my entire home, and its easy to tell because the base has a visible level of collected dust, debris, and cat hair. It does a wonderful job collecting cat hair that I couldn’t even see was on the floor as well as daily cleaning the litter that the cats kick out of the litter box. That is heaven for me because when I get home from work, I can be barefoot and not step on the litter. I schedule cleaning to happen an hour before I arrive home during the weekdays and Saturday and Sunday an hour before I wake up. The daily vacuuming is noticeable and very enjoyable. ---VALUE--- The price for the Shark Vacuum in terms of value may sound steep, but if you do the math, it’s like paying someone 1.23 cents daily to clean your entire home! That’s worth the investment. ---APPROVAL--- I highly recommend this product for people who may want extra time to do things they enjoy instead of vacuuming their home. I also recommend this product for people who own pets that shed and want to deal less with the fur on the floor.

For a self cleaning vacuum it is a great product for the price, especially compared to the Roomba’s price tag. They do need to send an update for the map to get the vacuum to go to the rooms you select. I selected to rooms and it still cleans all of them instead of going straight to the rooms selected. They say it has to learn your house to do this, so I hope it learns eventually. Overall, it does clean very well and is great to have it done when you get home. Make sure you pick up small things in it’s path like socks and shoes.

It is very nice to have the robot vacuum the house and clean up dog hair. Nice app to use on your phone and you can dispatch the robot to clean the entire house or just certain rooms. Con: robot sometimes gets stuck in various places. Then you play hide and seek and find it.

This little shark! So it does a great job. Its a little skittish on wood floors, but still sucks just about everything up. None of these work half as good as a traditional upright -but as far as robot vacs go this is a winner. We have had it for a little over a year. We run it from time to time to just keep things tidy and it does a great job. I have to clean its internals once in a while but i dont mind even a bit considering i get to see all the shizzle its snagging up from the abysmal pits of our floors. Speaking of abysses, it seems to never really know where it is. Now, we dont move stuff around too often. And the app has a display of the map its been building. But, i swear it thinks its in a dark souls game, or maybe resident evil. Its charger is in the kitchen and it starts there,, making its way back to the bedrooms. It comes back out, wanders around, and goes back to the bedrooms. -going from one to the other kinda haphazardly. It does a good job but i feel like it still hasnt learned our layout that well. We dont move stuff around but we also dont run it more than, idk, like three times a month-ish. maybe if it ram more it would know the place better. All in all we are pleased with it. I must add lately its started this clicking while its running but i think thats just a random piece of armor or the weapon of some fallen fighter its picked up in its gears. I like this device because i can have an AI robot in my home. I do wish that the app was a lot more interactive. The self empty is fine, it does this little tune which sounds like some other companies jingle from the commercials. And if the power goes out , when it comes back on the shark auto evacuates. What i mean by that is when the little robot goes to its base is sucks its contents into the base which is loud but only last for a sec or five. you get used to that but it takes a bit. I do recommend this machine but i would like to help the company trouble shoot a few lil design issues.,

Received the Shark IQ Robot and have enjoyed it. Very nice features with the self empty feature. Can schedule the days and times it'll auto clean. My only 2 issues are the mapping, it has done a few runs and hasn't mapped my home yet so maybe after 10 or so cleanings it'll get it. Also, it comes with the barrier strips to stop the vacuum from going in the areas blocked off but the strips don't have adhesive backing to make it a permanent off limits area. This honestly wouldn't be an issue but I have three cats and the they won't stay in position for long lol.

I purchased this when my wife asked for one after seeing an ad on Facebook. She was excited about the product because of its mapping technology. I saw the shark on sale at Bestbuy and pulled the trigger. So glad I did. My floors are very clean, we own three cats and a dog, and are cleaned every day . The battery last long enough to clean the entire floor of my large house. I gasped in wonder when the shark returned to its base to empty its tank then continued to clean the floor. I didn't realize my floor was covered in animal fur until I cleaned the main tank the first time. I'm just waiting for another sale at bestbuy and I will immediately scoop up another for my other floors.

I saved up for this based on a friend’s recommendation and I love it. I used it for several weeks by setting it to clean manually because we couldn’t get the app to work with our internet due to the way our google mesh selects the 2.4 and 5 ghz. Finally, my daughter set up a guest WiFi which uses the 2.4ghz and she got it to work. The app is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. Otherwise, I love it. It works great going between our carpet and wood floors. Even goes over our area floor rugs with no issues. It is a little noisier on the wood floors but still not as loud as a regular vacuum. I love that I can schedule it. I also love that it has a setting that tells it to evacuate (empty into the main bin) more than normal. Because I have animals, that is a definite plus. It says you should only have to empty the main bin every 30 days but I usually end up doing it every couple of days because of all the pet hair. Overall, thus had made my life ten times easier!

If you have a dog and need a vacuum that will help you manage pet hair this is definitely a solid option! The vacuum does a great job of mapping the house and cleaning thoroughly. It might pass over some tighter spaces every once in awhile, but it will still get them. The only drawbacks I found are if the dust cup is too full it may not empty properly on the dock. Sometimes it requires playing with and reempting. You could always just pull the cup out and dump it in the trash though. In addition, if your floors aren't completely clear it will get stuck. If it runs over like clothes or anything like that you'll have to pick it up, pull whatever it is from under it and reset it down. Limitations aside though it's definitely a great addition to my home and I wouldn't have it any other way! These bad boys keep my floors clean and Free of pet hair.

Pros: - maps the house to ensure it actually cleans all the areas - can schedule cleaning days/times through the app - powerful vacuum for the size; picks up most dirt and hair Cons: - A bit loud. I run the vacuum at night and it's woken me up a few times. - Gets stuck easily. It does have nice large wheels but still gets stuck on Furniture - small items left by kids can get stuck in the roll or trap and cause the vacuum to stop. You have to clean up before you let the vacuum loose (this isn't an entirely bad thing, forces me to clean more often)

Overall it's a good vacuum and does well enough picking up what it needs to. It maps the home well and being able to setup zones helps a lot when needing to do quick clean up in certain areas of the home. I would say it mostly falls short in software. The app asks you what zones you would like to clean with you click "clean" only half the time. So it's annoying to hit "clean" and it goes off and starts cleaning the whole house when you only wanted to select a few zones. I would then need to wait for it to dock and then reset the app and hit clean again hoping it would do the pop up to ask what zones. It became frustrating to take 3-4 minutes to get the vacuum going because I had to wait for it to dock again. The app should present you the options to select what zones BEFORE hitting the clean option, not after. Another software issue I had was I would select zones, and it would ALWAYS go and clean the room immediate in front of it instead of going to the zones I selected. It would get to them eventually, but again, I don't want to wait for the vacuum to do what it wants before it does what I want. I still give it a four stars because it does a good job overall, and if they fixed the software issues I would have kept it. I ended up returning it because it was too inconsistent software wise to use.

Good Value but not the smartest vacuum

Vacuum took a while to get the house mapped (about 5-8 times or so) but does clean very well. When mapping out the rooms of the house you will need to make sure the lines of the rooms do not touch or overlap. Otherwise the vacuum will not go to the specific room to clean. This is important information I feel like the FAQ should have. The robot does take a bit to find where it is at before it will start to clean the specific rooms selected. It also seems to take a while to find it way back to the docking station. I have owned this for about a month but the robot is still on 2019 firmware and support says they have no control on when or if it will be pushed out even though it is on the internet constantly. The self emptying base works very well and shows how much the robot has collected without needing to empty it daily. If you move the vacuum to another floor that isn't mapped you can set it down, push clean on it and it will do all the available area. Once you see it is done then you can pick it up and bring it back to the base to empty. I gave the vacuum 4 stars since the room mapping doesn't allow you to pinch/zoom in when setting it up along with no mention that you cannot have the room lines touching. The app also does not display how long the robot has been cleaning, just how long the app has been open which is incorrect. It isn't the smartest vacuum but does the job compared to robots 2x the price.

Really more of a robotic sweeper than a vacuum unless you set it to max on the app. For households with multiple smallish dogish members of the family that have hair and don't shed, the shark works great. It will do a decent job on hardwood floors and an adequate job on low pile area rugs. Works best if set to maximum and i haven't found a way to create a schedule that includes the maximum vacuum setting, so that's kinda a bummer. It's kinda noisy (especially in the max setting) but not as noisy as most of the vacuums that I've owned. You won't want it working while your trying to sleep. If you have pets or kids that could leave behind "messes" of one kind or another on the floor (or worse the rug) you wouldn't want it running unattended TRUST ME! Love the self empty and recharge&resume features! Best robot vac for the dollar at the time i bought it.

I am happy with this. I have used it twice and vacuums fine. The first time was without the app. The second time with the app it missed some rooms and did not map correctly, so will try again. On the good side, it was quieter than I expected and had no trouble with the fringe on my area rug. it also did a good job under my couch and under the bed. They don't tell you that you have to put it where you have 3 feet on either side and 5 feet in front of it. I have an open floor plan so was limited in where I could put the base. Also for the app to work you need to be on a 2.4 gHz network, and I had to take an old phone to isolate my U-verse signal to the 2.4 gHz network on my U-verse router to get the app to work. You also have to ensure there is adequate light in any room you want it to run.

I do like my Shark. The mapping of the rooms and having the ability to select certain rooms to vacuum is great. I also love the way it empties itself. This is a great buy. My only issue with it has been that as of the last two weeks it has dropped the WiFi and I have to reboot the Shark and the WiFi to get it to find it again. The Shark sits right next to an extender and the signal is very strong. This did not happen the first month I had it but has happened twice in the the last two weeks. It is a slight inconvenience but one I am going to keep an eye on.

Owned it for about a month, two heavy shedding dogs, does an awesome job keeping the appearance they don't shed at all. Have mostly hard floors with low pile area rugs, 1 bedroom has textured thick carpet, not so great on that sometimes on heavy clumps of hair, vacuumed that room 1st with a regular vacuum, and it good on maintaining as long as it doesn't encounter a large clump of hair. Love the no tangle roller, have yet to have to clean any hair off of it. Now because of the volume if dog hair I do have to empty the base canister much more often then the 30 days it advertises, but I don't count that as a bad mark.

We have hardwoods downstairs with three German Shepherds and a cat. There’s always hair everywhere. This little fellow (“Bruce”) makes a daily run and returns to base with little hassle. Two issues I’ve had - 1. I didn’t realize it would try to climb the stone that’s in front of the fireplace, and now the bottom of the vacuum is very badly scratched up. 2. It loves going behind the couch, and unfortunately, it usually gets stuck. It’s very stubborn about cleaning specific areas over and over again. I don’t regret buying it even though there have been some issues with it.

I like the shark it did what’s it’s supposed do. A few things that I didn’t like it took forever to map my house. Also it did get stuck in certain areas and sometimes it couldn’t find its way back home. Overall performance is good, the bag less option is awesome, and the price is decent for a smart vacuum. I gave it a four because It took forever (20days) to map my one story house. I would recommend it it your looking for an expensive smart vacuum.

Set up was easy. But you had better have a really strong wifi signal to pair it with your phone. However, even without the wifi / phone control, if you don't mind just pushing a button and walking away, it really performs as it advertised. Not too noisy, but very effective. And despite the reviews I watched on Youtube, when the robot is full it WILL return to the dock to empty out. With having two cats, my days of sweeping up litter are gone!
