Comfortable, die fast
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are very comfortable. I use for Truck driving and would highly recommend. I would only warn about the battery life after about 6 months. The warranty through shokz game me a hard time to get a replacement. Now they are a backup when my main headset dies.

Great Sound but Workplace issue w/ Safety Glasses
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds great, battery life is awesome. Safety glasses will interfere with placement over ears. Will become hard to find best position to use effectively.

It was good, but not great. Returned it.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My favorite part about this was the device doesn't actually go in your ear. It sits right in front of it. I also like the wireless capability (obviously). It was very simple to set up. What I didn't like was that the mute button didnt work for me. Also when I did put it on mute (using the button on my computer), it beeps every 10 seconds very loudly. This was distracting and annoying during meetings. I also work a call center like job and it was constantly dying before my eight hour day. Last, the charger is unique to this device.

Might work for the right application, but…
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, bone conduction definitely works, but whether this headset will work for you will be a matter of personal preference. Bone conduction has a couple of advantages. By transmitting through your jawbone instead of your ear canal, it allows you to remain completely aware of your surroundings. If you have nerve- related hearing loss, it allows you to hear the phone conversation without the need for a hearing aid or other assistive device. There are also some drawbacks. Some frequencies transmit through bone better than others, so there’s a lot missing with music, particularly in the details or outside the midrange. This specific headset also has challenges. First, the fit is tight for me. I wear a 7 3/8 hat, so a large but no huge head, and it is tight enough that I could not wear it for long calls. My much smaller wife also found it uncomfortable. The microphone is so-so, with clarity but also a very hollow sound. The charger is proprietary instead of USB-C, which means carrying around another cable if you plan to travel with it. And the travel case is huge compared to the size of the unit. I can see that for a very specific application, this would be a perfect solution. For me, it didn’t quite work and was returned.

Comfortable but has issues
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Comfortable, but they break easily and when you are very gentle with them they still malfunction. They are quiet, can't turn the volume up with to hear people clearly. Battery lasts only about 3 to 4 hours. Charges quickly. They are comfortable, they don't squish your head but you can't sit back because you'll hit the band on a headrest etc. But if wearing while standing or sitting up it's easy to forget your wearing them.

AfterShoks Great Products - Boom Isn't a Help
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro - Ear free for all day wearing, un-tethered (remote working able to walk to kitchen for another tea or snack, or take a bio-break) Con - Not Enough Better Than Aeropex and cannot overcome poor VoIP Bluetooth implies VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and to have high quality requires the local router to be optimized (separate) VoIP traffic, otherwise quality will suffer... so that's likely 1-of=2 reasons the OpenComm didn't work for us... I have Aeropex (lighter & sans boom) and quality is slightly better, mainly because I don't run through Avya Commicator (Windows software) dialer/ringer = sucky excuse for a dialer. But to be clear (pun) the boom adds little to the quality of voice transmitted, the customers complained, so this product was returned. I tested both/every-way with this model and my Aeropex and the quality was too poor, or cell-phone-to-cell-phone the quality wasn't improved enough to justify, and we reverted to a $40 wired model... Aeropex has one feature; Multi-Paring, hold-on wait for PAIRING, then press/hold multifunction key and Multi-Paring On, means I can connect to both Windows PC for a call/meeting and also to my phone at the same time, switching as needed from a PC call/meeting to a cell phone call easily (well relatively easy, it helps to know where in the PC meeting software are the Device Settings to force use of the Aeropex vs PC speaker & mic) Yes, my 11+ year old Modem/Router (DOCIS 3.0 prisoner of Spectrum) all in One does not have a VoIP separator feature, so that's where my next purchase will be, I'll watch for a future version of the OpenComm... :)

Great sound, not very comfortable
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the concept of this headset. The sound is loud and clear. My customers can hear me just fine and I work in a call center. The open ear design makes it so if people need my attention in an emergency it's not a big deal. The biggest downside is that I have a big head, and there are two pressure points right above my ears that get really sore after a couple of hours. I gave them a couple weeks of wear to see if I'd adjust but they were still uncomfortable.

I like Aeropex better, but this has +battery life
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the better battery life. I don't like that when the boom folds back it rests on my ear. I think they could make it 1/2 the length with mic in the end, and another mic on the right side. The mic actually does work well (the Aeropex works well also). Any way, I returned it and bought the Aeropex, it's lighter and for me a lot more comfortable. It's my new headset of choice inside, and for running (the Aeropex)...but not driving.

Is great for telecom workers
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product very light great on talking sound as long as you don't move your head. When you move your head around and talking when they are not connected to your temples the sound goes in-and-out. If the vibration was given me kind of headaches but different people might have different features sized heads and all that stuff. Is great for people who work at home just not for music.

poor microphone technology and no frills
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Bone conduction technology, but everything else is sub par. I specifically ordered the headset with a mic boom so that my customers would hear me better, but what they hear is worse than setting my phone to speaker phone. The mic is slow to react. It stays muted for the first one or two words I speak, which makes voice to text very irritating. And the volume of what my customers hear is very low, regardless of where I put the mic. There are basically no features to the headset. Only volume up down and answer buttons. No voice commands like my previous headset. My Plantronics recognized various voice commands. I didn't have to push a button to answer calls. Just had to say answer. And there's no app for updating firmware or adjusting anything. Neither the mic boom or headband are bendable. So I can't get the boom any closer to my mouth, and the back of the headset doesn't work well with a hooded jacket, because it sticks out far from the back of my head (and I have a big head). So keep working on it AfterShokz, please! Nice tec, but poor features for people who want to make phone calls.

Great product BUT mic gain is too low to be heard
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the non-mic version (Areoplex) for about a 6plus months and it they are absolutely awesome (see my other review). They are great for taking calls, listening to podcasts, and roaming around the office all while having situational awareness. I use my Areoplex more than all my bluetooth buds or headsets including my AirpPod Pros. They are good for music during the day if you're concentrating on something else and not focusing on the music (like background music). Music is not a strong suit of AfterShokz and individuals looking to immerse themselves in music should look elsewhere. The Areoplex is designed for situational awareness and unbeatable for applications involving running, biking (no vortex wind noise like other buds), walking, hiking, walking around the house, mall, office, etc. When I heard AFterShokz came out with a version with a boom mic I was very eager to purchase. So, after using the OpenComm for a week now, they are much the same, however (and a big however) the mic gain is not loud enough for people to hear me even in a quiet environment. Individuals (on conference calls especially) keep telling me they can't hear me. They hear me fine when I cup my hand around the mic, but that makes me sound like I'm in a cave and defeats the purpose. I guess I could talk very loudly, but after ten minutes of that, I would loose my voice. The sound cancellation, however, is extremely good and perhaps that's why it struggles to carry your voice at a level that people can hear. I would rate this product 10 out of 5 stars if the mic gain was greater, or better yet adjustable. I would also change the button color from bright orange to a more business looking gray or black. You can't see the buttons (assuming they are orange to better find them) when you're wearing it, so what's the point. I do like the raised buttons over the Aeroplex model as the Aeroplex is very difficult to feel and distinguish the buttons (almost a deal breaker but bearable). I wish the multi function button was larger and easier to find/press on both models as I sometimes miss taking calls because I can't find the button to answer. The OpenComm's volume buttons are much easier to find however. The OpenComm model seems to be a bit smaller and fit better on me than the Aeroplex. I've seen some complaints about AfterShokz only including one proprietary charging cable (the Areoplex comes with two). What people don't realize is that the OpenComm includes a very nice fitted case that the Aeroplex doesnt include which might explain why both models cost the same. Since this is a business device for the most part, I would suggest AfterShokz include a more critical business item like the extra cable than the case. Perhaps have the case as a separate offer or up the price $10 or $20 and include the extra cable. So, with all this said, as much as I like my Areoplex, I am sadly returning the OpenComms because of the low mic gain. This is a deal breaker for me. Unless you a.) have a really loud voice, b.) not in an environment that you have to speak low (i.e. discussing private or sensitive information), c.) not in an office environment where people get annoyed at loud talkers (you know the type) - I would wait until AfterShokz fixes this issue. I don't think this is a firmware fix so you might be waiting awhile for the 2.0 version. Note: If you're a healthcare provider under HIPAA Privacy laws and regularly have phone calls mentioning protected health information (PHI) (i.e. Doctors reception desk), I would hesitate to purchase these. Individuals in Human Resources or Finance departments where phone privacy is require, may want to look at other products options as well.

Mic is poor and there are bugs
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I work in an office where I make and receive calls, and some of my colleagues purchased this device and recommended it to me. The bone induction technology is neat, and works extremally well. And the fact that I can wear this and both listen to what's coming through the headset and hear what's going on around me is this headset's biggest advantage. However, I did notice that on conference calls, both my voice quality and that of those who also used this headset was very poor. It sounded like they were speaking from a distance and their voices weren't clear. Also, I encountered a weird bug where if there was audio playing, when a call came through it would start playing over the call even though I paused it. And if I paused it again the audio would start playing after a few seconds. This doesn't happen with any of my other headsets, so I have to assume that it's an issue with the headset itself.

Wanted it to work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to like this but it seemed to mess with my head making me feel dizzy. At some points it seemed fine and I didn't notice it was there which was nice. But other times I would be sitting and would boarderline feel vertigo. For those people without this issue just be aware the headband protrudes behind the head so you can't lean back without it getting pushed. This us good for quiet areas but if you are at the gym or other noisy environments then it's hard to hear. Mic quality is good. That's what I really wanted it for. Maybe it will work for you.

Meh
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great overall quality build. Feels durable and had decent features. The design is streamlined and in most instances works well. Great noise canceling boom microphone. Those are the pros. The cons: You can't wear a beanie, or a hoodie comfortably. The headset interferes with that. The back breaker for me is the battery life. You have to charge this everyday. Even if you only used it for a few quick conversations the previous day and turned it off. It WILL die on you halfway through the next day. I expected better specs for the price.

Overall decent product
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As headphones listening to music or videos they work good as expected. Using them for phone calls, some people are very hard to hear especially if they are using speakerphone on their end. I do really like the concept of the open ear being able to hear whats going on around you as well as whats on the headphones. Overall its a good product it was a tough debate between 3 stars and 4. Also its obviously not adjustable so it fits differently depending on the size of the persons head

Disappointing performance & reliability for price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to use for video calls, but half the time it seems like it doesn't work. I can get the headphone portion to work, but the mic won't respond, even though my PC sees that it's connected. Going to try contacting the company for a replacement. Don't know if it's a Zoom issue, a PC issue, or BT dongle issue. Works perfectly with my phone though. Considering all these issues, it's very overpriced. Disappointing.

Better for people with smaller heads
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was a good headset the sound quality and mic quality was excellent It's just that having to wrap it around my head for long periods of time would sometimes give me a headache. The other thing I did not like about it where the sound came from was next to you ear not in your ear and sometimes listening to music with a lot of bass would vibrate the sides of your head sometimes didn't feel very pleasant more of an annoyance
