So I had always wondered what exactly Sling TV was as I had never actually tried it out until receiving this promo included with my Roku purchase. I guess I can definitely see the appeal with this app. It does work across multiple platforms which is nice and convenient. There is also a good variety when it comes to content selection and variety in programming that is available. However, I think they should have better incentives for first timers like a free trial rather than a mere discounted price of the first 2 months. I don't quite agree with that whole thing. But still, after trying it out, I can say that this is certainly a worthy competitor to the cable companies with its live TV and Cloud DVR features. So for those who are contemplating giving their cable company the boot for a streaming service with less headaches, this is certainly one to consider. I personally would opt for Hulu + Live TV since I already have a Hulu membership but that's just me (plus, I prefer Hulu's interface better).

Sling has the best cloud DVR service of all of the streaming services. Though the DVR feature can be buggy at times. You can hold onto your recordings. They don't delete them after a couple of weeks like other streaming services. The only limit being your cloud DVR storage capacity. The channel lineup for both streaming options, when bundled together, along with the sports package is also the best from any streaming service. BUT, because they are owned by Dish, they get in "disputes" with the providers over price more often than any other TV streaming service and you lose those channels until they come to an agreement on price.

Sling TV is a great tool for cord-cutter who still want the content without the massive monthly bill. Honestly, I did not use this product which came with my TV. If I recall correctly, Best Buy couldn't locate the paperwork for it and since it was really only a coupon for 40% off rather than 100% off (also known as a trial), it wasn't very appealing to me. I have used the Sling service in the past but I really don't want TV much anymore. If I do, I just use an over the air (OTA) antenna to pick up local ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, etc.

Very simple to use and has great promise. My only complaint is that their ad insertion platform doesn't really work well. Generally can't skip those ads on recorded programs (although they just made a change where you can sometimes skip them...) and has glitches where it will play the same ad over and over again and again... (I will never buy a Land Rover after seeing the same commercial a dozen times back to back every day for a month...) Pricing seems to be good, but are rising so at some point, will not be worth the hassle vs. just getting traditional cable...

We were subscribers of Sling for roughly 5 years and definitely enjoyed it, however, they appeared to only remove major channels and increase the price. We signed up for the sports package, but due to complications with Fox Sports, they no longer offered their channels and this was never relayed it to the customers. If looking for a bare bone streaming service, the basic package works, but I would recommend looking elsewhere if wanting more channels or sports. Also does not include local channels like most.

Sling has been great for watching NBA games and tuning into shows on the discover channel. Stream quality is good. UI is good but could be a little better. App is a tiny sluggish on fire stick (2nd gen). Better on mobile, and our newer tv set. Sling is a bit expensive for us since we silly watch much live tv. Wish there was an option for 10-20$ a month with only channels we actually watch.

We weren't ready to completely give up "live" television and completely "cut the cord". Sling is a great option for this. The only issue for me is the lack of synthesis for a guide with live tv from an antenna. It would be good if one could open a channel guide to see what is playing live and see both the Antenna channels and the Sling channels (without constantly changing apps). Other than that Sling TV is great!

I tried it during the free trial period. I thought it was OK. There were a lot of packages to choose from with excellent value, but in the end I chose another service. It did seem to pause more than other services I tried.

The 40% was an excellent value and allowed me to experience something I might not have otherwise bothered with. If you’re looking for an affordable option to traditional cable TV and can’t decide between the plethora of choices bursting through the flood gates as all these companies try and carve out their own slice, SlingTV might just be what you need.

Very deep black levels for the price. Also supports HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Has decent peak brightness and the color reproduction is quite incredible although scenes with warm lighting tend to look very artificial. Overall amazing television for the price that will not disappoint casual TV viewers. Amazing 4K HDR performance and fairly low input lag when in Game Mode.

Sling is good as an alternative to your cable box. I would say YoutubeTV is hands down better, but the fact Sling can get international channels does give it the slight edge. I'd recommend sling in that case alone, but if all you care about are the basic local channels and your "standard" viewing lineup from basic cable, then skip sling and go YouTube tv.

SlingTV is the budget option for paid TV and if that's what you want it's a good choice. I opted for Sling Blue and it has almost everything I want for a good price. Lately I've been having buffering problems with it, though - ever since xmas - and I hope that clears up soon. It's not egregious, but it is annoying when it happens.

Sling is an excellent cable alternative for the price. There are a number of quality cable channels for many viewing tastes. There are versions for sports lovers and one with more general entertainment. The interface is not great, but the price is worth a little less glitz. Give it a try. It might be just what you need.

Sling is a great app to watch you cable shows. There is no contract, you can cancel you subscription at any time. And you can get it as low as $29.99 per month which is good value. I wish though sling added more new movies. I feel every month I keep watching the same movie content over and over again.

Sling is probably the best budget streaming service. The channel selection isn't as robust as the higher end services, and the two service tiers are a bit confusing. However, it's easy to setup, it's on most if not all streaming players, and it's a good price. Plus, lots of DVR space.

Good cable cord cutting alternative. Cheaper to get internet and get sling instead ordering from cable company. Does not include premium packages such MLB, HBO, etc... Lots of things to watch. Works on many devices such as Roku, Amazon Stick, etc...

Sling is working out really well for me and my family. It has many, many channels which includes news, entertainment and sports. It’s reliable and the interface is good. I’ve tried Fubo and Sling works better in terms of number of channels/packages provided overall!

Sling TV's add-ons and subscription format give viewers a lot of freedom to customize their network package and monthly bill. If you're choosy about what you select, you can add a lot of value to your subscription while still sticking to a reasonable budget.
