It's hard to find anything wrong with this TV. Picture quality is great, menu's are great, smart features are great. I would say, the only things I didn't like were not really a big deal at all. One would be, the stand is horribly flimsy, but I think now days most people mount their TV's, and for safety reasons (children) I think most people should anyway. The other thing that might annoy some people is the start up. It turns on pretty much right away, but nothing is accessible for a little bit. You can't just turn it on and change inputs, you need to wait a little while. Really not a big deal but I could see someone questioning why it would need to be "turning on" after you've already turned it on. Neither of those justify removing a star so I'm giving it 5 anyway. I had bought a cheaper Sony from another retailer and this one is far superior. I know the price may seem a little high but after trying out the cheaper one I was more than happy to return it and get this one instead. I also understand this is not a 4k, does not have 3D and has a very low refresh rate, but I haven't noticed anything lacking in movies or games I play on it. I am very happy with this purchase.

Perfect addition at a great price. Great picture. Descent sound for TV alone. Extremely quick and easy to use smart options such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. Very easy to set up. Lightweight. Recommend.

I helped my grandmother purchase this TV at her local Best Buy. She likes the Sony brand name so she was drawn to this TV. It was the right size for her room and had the right type of stand to fit on her furniture. Set up was very easy, power cord and HDMI cable to her cable box. Ran through a few menus on the first start up to connect to her WiFi and set the time etc. Once it was set up completed I messed with a couple of the display settings and it was good to go. It connected to the internet easily and I was accessing the built in apps with no issues. The picture is good, not great but not bad either. For $450ish for a 42" smart its not bad at all. Would purchase again.

This thing is awesome. Guy at the store told me it was a brand new line of Bravia that Sony was putting out. He pretty much talked me into it, as I was leaning towards Samsung at the time. I was upgrading from a 720p TV with no extra features, so this feels light years ahead of what I was seeing before. A new feature to me was the ability to control my new Blu-Ray player with my TV remote via HDMI. My only complaint on this TV is the placement of the IR receiver. It's right in the middle of the TV at the bottom. It means I can't place a sound bar (or center speaker) in front of the TV, as I have it placed on an entertainment center. Perhaps in the future I will mount it on the wall, when we move into a house. Just that tiny little flaw in the design. Love it compared to my Dynex. The smart features are great, but everything has them now, the Blu-Ray player, XBox, Roku... So I pretty much stick to the XBox 360, as that was what I was using before.

After one month we have had no issues. The picture is great, the audio is decent. It is easy to set up. The "smart" part of the TV, ie netflix etc. works great. There are adequate inputs. The only complaint is the manual controls are poorly labeled and in the back of the set, so without a remote, the TV is pretty much useless.

Got this unit for use on the porch. The mat finish of the screen works well at reducing glare from all the windows. Picture quality is great. Smart features are straight forward to use. After the initial software update I had no need to make adjustments to the picture settings. Connected to my home WIFI network easily and has maintain a steady connection. Motion is handled well, no problems on things like Football or Nascar. The bezel is really small which allowed me to place it in then corner of the room without having it sit way out from the wall.

This Sony Bravia TV has an excellent picture and features for the price range. Bought this for the bedroom and it is perfect for that type of space. Internet features and smart apps make it very useful for streaming Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, etc for movies or TV shows from online content libraries. The processor could be a little faster, but can't complain for under $400 bucks. The only CON... Wish it had HBO Go as one of the apps, but other than that, this was a great find. It has easy to choose picture & sound "Pre-sets" for different program viewing like Sports or movies with lots of fast moving action. Sony does it right!

This was a gift for a friend and he was thrilled to upgrade to his first HDTV. This not only provided enough hdmi outputs to support his PS3, Blu Ray Player, and sound system, there was an extra slot to spare for cable if he ever decided to get cable. Samsung was the other choice and it supplies only two hdmi outputs which would support his ps3 (blu ray player) and sound system. Though cable in the future might make for a pressing decision. Regardless, the interface with the smart functions are easy to use and the picture is outstanding. Overall is very pleased and would recommend to anyone looking for a smaller and practical tv.

An excellent TV for gaming. Tons of picture options, great picture quality, and nice built-in features. At this price, you can't go wrong.

Had the other for 2 years in my home office. Started having intermittent random off and ons. Fooled around with their customer non service and finally said the only place to check it out was NJ. I am in Dallas....got the Sony, much better picture, features. Go Sony! Used them in the past and never an issue. they cost more , but you get what you pay for!

In the 40" high definition tv category, this Sony is a strong pick. The picture quality is very good, as expected from Sony, and the smart features are very good as well. In this size category it would be nice to have a sleep timer button on the remote. Overall a great television.

We purchased this TV to replace an older Sony Bravia model that did not have SMART capabilities and are absolutely thrilled with the decision. The picture is fantastic, the look is sharp and the value you receive for the price (especially if you catch a sale) cannot be matched. I highly recommend this TV.

Needed to replace an older tv in a room and went with the Sony based on a recommendation from a friend who also recently purchased the same model. Picture quality was great, 4 HDMI inputs, remote was responsive. Add to that the "Smart" features and you get the bang for the buck. Love this tv and don't regret paying more.

I used to buy Samsung TVs almost exclusively, but I just couldn't get a satisfying picture on the last one I bought. I'm not overly picky about perfect color, but the picture was way too washed out, even after tons of fiddling with the settings. The Sony is really slick. I didn't need a smart TV since I have several streaming devices, but I did need 4 HDMI inputs and USB, which the Sony had. After using it for a while, I found myself using the smart features more and more since it was more convenient than firing up yet another device. The smart menu system is pretty good, but takes a few more clicks than I would like. The Netflix experience on the Sony isn't quite as good as my Roku, but it's by far the best of any other smart TV I tried. The color on the set is fantastic with almost no adjustments necessary. Just so you now there is no tilt adjustment on the stand, but I have no issues with that. It's a very nice looking TV for the price with a slim, but not non-existent, bezel, the U-shaped stand, and a relatively thin profile. I'm very happy with this purchase.

I've been searching for a new TV to upgrade for my old 40" LED 720p TV. This Sony Bravia 40" SMART TV has an excellent picture and the smart function works flawless. I would recommend this TV for the quality & functionality.

This TV is packed with features I was looking for including the smart apps like amazon and netflix, 1080p, and 4 HDMI inputs. The picture is great and the sound is good enough to not need a soundbar. If you can find a sale on this TV you won't be disappointed in your purchase.
