Great TV and Picture
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I had a Vizio P series 2018 model which I got a decent price. It had a good picture but after 10 months the dimming panel and backlight started to fail. After a few attempts at repair my Geek squad warranty kicked in and I got the TCL series 6 model and right away there were connection issues with 2 HDMI ports and the picture was over saturated even after calibration. I decided that those budget brands aren't worth the money so I put in a few more dollars and got the Sony X950G. Right away you can tell that this is a premium TV. The color is very accurate right out of the box and doesn't require much calibration at all. There is no lag for gaming as I have not had any issues with the PS4 pro or Xbox one X. This set also does Dolby Atmos, Dolby vision and HDR10. I was skeptical about the Android software but it is pretty fast and responsive and I haven't had any lag. The sound could be a bit better but as with most newer TVs a sound bar is recommended. Over all this is definitely a good product.

Excellent TV
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent TV, colors are bright, everything is crisp. Would highly recommend. Also took advantage of a promo and paired it with the Sony HTX9000F soundbar and it sounds amazing. The IMAX enhanced feature on the TV is also amazing, the picture I attached is a screen capture from a video I took to show a relative, somehow seems to make 4K even better. Only downside, you lose a touch of contrast if you're close to it and viewing at an off angle, but that's likely to happen with most TV's at this size that are not OLED. There is also just a slight bloom if it's a dark background and a lighter image pops on the screen. Again, unless you have an OLED, you're going to get bloom on almost any TV. The bloom on this is still much much better than the 930D I got a few years ago. In the end, a great TV, worth the price.

Great TV
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We originally thought we would purchase a Samsung TV but after our Sales consultant explained everything about each TV we purchased the Sony 55in. While a bit more then what we intended to spend totally worth every penny! Along with the Sony sound bar we couldn't be happier. Picture is so clear and the quality of sound distributed thru the whole room really makes a huge difference. Our room size is 12x24 so this Sony combo is perfect for this size room.

Was Underwhelmed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high hopes for this purchase but was greatly underwhelmed by performance the android operating system is still buggy at best And the TV had surprising issues with the Sony HTZ9F sound bar I had high hopes for the processor which is now shared in their top-of-the-line OLED televisions But seemed to fall short with the LCD technology. This was such a bummer because I got the TV for a great price but I had to return it for the LGB9 which I am very happy with I already on the LGC8 so the transition was easy to make hopefully Sony ditches android TV because I think it holds the television back imo and also figure out the bug between the TV talking to the sound bar through the ARC I think going for the mid tier 2 budget TVs like the TCL or hisense Vizo put a lot of pressure on these mid tier LCDs that Samsung and Sony are offering The overall value for picture quality and features I believe TCL Vizio Hisense Are the better bets

Wow!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With this quarantine going on, and everybody always home. The wife finally caved and let me get a tv in the bedroom! The last tv I bought was a Sony xbr hx909 ten years ago. It was a great tv then and is still going strong. So Sony was my only brand, the picture is stunning! Android os works well and I love the remote, only con is the speakers but most tvs now have bad speakers. So plan on at least buying a soundbar.

Best television money can buy and ITS A SONY !!!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review was done after a few months of ownership since I really wanted to kick the tires on this brand new Sony television set. The first thing I will tell you is that it was used as a online streaming device. With that said the first thing to do with this television is to make sure you connected to a high-speed circuit and do all the android updates on it which are inclusive of also all the Sony firmware updates. There’s really no reason to adjust any of the color settings or anything else since they do a great job at the factory when they release these units that the color and variances for Brightness contrast color etc. are well within spec. The 4K resolution on this television is spectacular I have watch content from both HBO max and also Netflix with 4K and the color rendition and output is spectacular. As with all Sony televisions the sound output is marginal so that’s not a fault I just went out and got great speakers self powered ones by a company called pre-Sonos. This television is a pleasure to watch and I thoroughly enjoy it. I have recommended Sony Bravia television sets to all my friends and family and they really are a tough television to be in quality. As an additional feature I purchased a pure sine wave APC battery back up to protect the circuits here in Florida. I have nothing but positive things to say about this television

Perhaps the best LED in its price range
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.During the 2019 holiday season, I was looking for my first LED TV as I was using a 2010 Samsung LCD that served me very well. At first, I purchased a budget-quality Samsung (NU6900 series) for about $350 at BJ's. Big mistake. The picture quality looked washed, the motion handling was horrendous, and the interface was garbage (could not adjust settings). I knew I had to spend more to get a decent quality. After considerable research and deciding on a budget, I was torn between Samsungs Q60, this model, or the Sony 900F. I read that Samsung became the Bose of TVs. The Q60 wasn't as versatile and it wasn't as good as the more expensive Q70, so I opted for either of the Sonys. I found an open box Sony 950G for about $800 and after a bit of skepticism, went for it. Off the bat it was a great set, even used. The picture quality is amazing, it handles motion WAY better than the NU6900, the interface is very user friendly and streamlined, (runs on Android OS), and the ability to adjust picture quality is comprehensive. Best of all, it can display HDR10 and Dolby Vision/Atmos. The Netflix Calibrated feature is neat too, but if you're like me, you'll just set it at a calibration that you find fitting. The 950G handles non-4k content very well. The only downside to this set is the way it handles blooming. During predominantly dark scenes, if there's a portion of a picture with considerable brightness, or if you have closed caption turned on, you will notice the bright images leak into the darkness and/or the letterbox. However, this is a very common issue with LED sets that aren't OLED. This is also the case for loading screens when playing video games, but it's a loading screen so who cares? It's also important to note that this set cannot handle off-centered viewing. I purchased it for my bedroom so it's not an issue for me, but if you're planning to use it in your living room, be aware that the picture will look different for those sitting to the side. Overall, for the price, this is the best LED on the market. There's a reason that even after about a year, this set has stayed at the same price range ($900-$1,100).

Posted .Hi AlexDoo, Thank you for taking the time to write such a thorough review of your X950G. We're very pleased to hear you're enjoying the picture quality and especially its ability to adjust according to your preference, motionflow feature, Android TV OS, and HDR10, Dolby Vision and Atmos support.
You may notice uneven brightness on the TV when watching in a dark environment or when the screen is blank. This condition is normal and not a malfunction of the TV.
If you should find this affects your enjoyment, Please refer to the link below for few adjustments that you can do to minimize this condition.

Excellent TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV to replace a Sony XBR49X800D purchased in 2016. I stream and game, so having a TV with excellent image quality is a must. I bought the X800D since it was a cheaper 4K TV that offered HDR 10 for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X gaming. While the X800D was satisfactory, it had an incredibly slow processor that caused a multitude of problems with the Android OS. The TV had to be “soft reset” constantly and the Smart functions were nearly unusable. While at Best Buy, I knew I wanted either a QLED, Lg OLED (C8), or Sony’s newest models. Samsung QLED almost had me, but there are too many reports of HDR support issues with the PS4 Pro. The C8 looks amazing, but I worry about burn-in with gaming. I was stuck between the XBR55900F and the XBR55950G. I am so glad I went with the latter. The OS is like a dream compared to the older 800D. I have also been very impressed with the TV’s brightness and the color seems to be truer compared to the 800D. While it doesn’t have the blacks of the OLED TVs, it is certainly an improvement for me. Overall, I love the picture quality and the Dolby Vision support is a plus. I don’t understand the low reviews for this TV. It’s not a top of the line model, but it is one of the best in this price range.

Very Please, First One Died
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very pleased with this TV for the price. For decades now, Sony seems to be the only TV manufacturers where the picture settings (color, etc.) are almost perfect out of the box. The extra money you spend on this TV (compared to cheaper models) is rewarded by a much superior picture, much superior features, and much superior up-scaling of lower resolution content. Perhaps what has impressed me the most about this TV (compared to cheaper 4K TV's) is how much better 720p content looks. Unless you add a protection plan (I did not), you will only have 15 days to return this TV to the store for an exchange, if something goes wrong. I consider it extremely important to run this TV as much as possible in the first 15 days. Just leaving it playing, even when you are not in the room. You want to get in as much use as possible in, to expose any defects before that 15 days runs out. It's almost Thanksgiving right now and I can see a lot of people buying this TV for Christmas gifts. I would not recommend leaving this TV sitting in the box while that first 15 day return policy goes by. 4 hours into using my first one, a dead vertical line appeared. Be careful when you unpack this TV and be prepared to repack it. I'm not upset at all. Manufacturer defects are normal and can be difficult to find without a few hours of use on the TV. Returning the TV to Best Buy for an exchange was very easy. No complaints there at all. I was very happy with how fast and easy the exchange was. After doing a lot of research, I believe it's better to use an external device (Roku, Apple TV, etc) than the internal apps (for things like Netflix and Amazon). If you look around, you will see various issues with the internal apps which also place a higher load on the TV's CPU (which is also handling and the processing for the TV picture). Also, I'm not a fan of the remote or how it feels in my hand. I only use it to change inputs when needed. If you buy this TV, the first thing you should do is to change all the HDMI inputs from Standard to Enhanced Format (4K @ 60hz). It doesn't matter if you have something like a standard Direct TV box with a 720p output. Turn Enhanced Format on for all the HDMI inputs. On any external device you have (Roku, Apple TV, etc), you need to verify that the device has 4K output AND that it has HDR. You'll be loosing out on quality otherwise. You have to go into the settings of any external device and enable 4K at 60fps (version 2.2 or higher) and HDR at 60fps. This will not be set right by default, or auto set on it's own. You also need to have the right HDMI cables. The cables are cheap. You want to buy HDMI cables can handle 22.28Gbps at 60hz ($10 or less each). You only need these for devices that support it (for example, a Roku Ultra that outputs 4K and HDR). You also need to know there are devices like Roku's that only have 4K but not HDR. This will be the case with Roku's older than a couple of years old. It will cost a little less than $100 to get a modern Roku Ultra with 4K and HDR. Also, for $40 a bought a very nice stand for the TV and did not use the one that came in the box. For $40, I was able to adjust the TV height to my liking and can now smoothly rotate the TV with a single finger and light touch. Being able to rotate the TV helps a lot when plugging in cables. Two last tip before I end: 1) Make sure you plug this in to a nice power strip with surge suppression and protection. 2) There is a lot of 4K content but not so much 4K+HDR content. When you first set this TV up, look for TV shows and movies that have both, to really show off what you just paid for. If you look around, for different services like Amazon, you can find lists of what content is available in 4K and/or HDR.

Good Android Television!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the X950G to replace my defective X930E series and I was initially hesitant to replace my X930E due to it being an already good television but the panel was deemed defective and I didn't necessarily have the budget for OLED and I've always been impressed with the picture quality of Sony televisions so this was a no brainer. Overall, the X950G is much quicker in operation than the X930E due to the newer processor and I'd say the picture quality is about the same, although the X930E was deemed a little brighter overall but not by much. Also, I'm glad that Sony finally updated the freaking remote control and at least made it somewhat feel premium. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because Sony chose to go with the leg support instead of having a central stand like the X930E series had.
