    Holding key modifiers not working.

I bought this way back last year knowing I would use this as a normal mouse, and hoping down the road if I get back to gaming with a mouse and keyboard, I can take advantage of the side buttons for key modifiers. It worked well as a normal mouse, still clicks like new, has a decent weight, nice form factor. The issue however is with the side buttons. One of the normal things to do with these kind of mice is bind Shift, Ctrl or Alt on it. This thing just presses the button once and doesn't hold it, unless you set it to toggle hold, which means you need to press the button twice to do what's supposed to be done while you hold the key. It doesn't help as well that the SteelSeries application isn't that intuitive, but upon testing other programs like it, looks like it's the same with other brands, with Razer being the easiest to configure (pretty resource hungry though). It's sad to learn about this issue after a year of owning it, which sucks. Even crappy off-brand mice can do a hold on a key modifier. The build quality however is pretty good so I didn't dock it down to 2-stars.

Steelseries Rival 3 is a great all around mouse and a great mouse for beginners to get used to. Battery life with 1-2 AA is phenomenal. Ease of use is great. Excellent mouse for small to medium hands. Side buttons are a little low for large hands. Excellent gaming mouse that won’t disappoint a player during playing. The Steelseries software is easy to use. Mouse is on the heavy side with 2 AA but can use 1 AA to lower the weight but all around a great mouse to start out with

Great mouse! Can connect via Bluetooth so that it doesn't use another USB connector. I went online and installed the manufacturer's software, but still doesn't allow me to bind the side mouse buttons to anything :/

Good budget mouse. A little bit of travel with the clicks and the side buttons are a little soft but the software makes up for it.

The side buttons keep messing with me because they’re too sensitive. It keeps sending me back a screen. Waste of time and money.
