So there was something about this TV on the end cap that grabbed my attention. The aesthetic of how thick it was and the fact that it's the only mini LED TV on display at Best Buy where you can't see blooming from the backlight. Now with all that being said I'm coming from a 2015 LG OLED so I'm used to the best picture but I did want to go bigger and felt confident that TCL has come a long way. And my God turning this TV on, I was shocked at how close to OLED black this TV gets. The color is incredible, HDR looks great, and the brights are so bright that the maximum that I can put this TV on is maybe 34. I'm a big fan of Google TV and the picture options on this are really great but there is a reason I gave it 4 stars.
That reason being the software itself is very buggy, there needs to be some software updates because there are several options in the menu that just simply don't work. Such as CEC HDMI control. The moment I plugged my HDMI sound bar into the arc Port which my $1,000 Sony HT nt5 Soundbar supports, the TV's sound came out through my soundbar but with CEC enabled on the soundbar, when you raise the volume you're only raising the TV's volume and not the Soundbar itself. It's also not controlling or moving anything on my Xbox PS3 or Blu-ray player, again CEC is enabled on all of these. The other part of the software that is surprising is if you're playing HDR or Dolby Vision video and try to press the settings button, it just lags and everything freezes and it takes forever. This is odd because the settings for the television should be completely separate from the Google interface that you're streaming from, but it almost feels like it's all one and that's not good. Now, I may be using an external Source such as my Xbox for media content but I really shouldn't have to, so hopefully future updates take care of this lag and CEC issue. On another note, hbo max WILL NOT play any Dolby Vision content, it completely freezes. Also if your watching TV & use the built in guide, there are options to use green & yellow buttons, which ARE NOT present on the remote itself.
I do see that some people have gotten bad panels here and believe me, that's a thing with every single brand but I got lucky getting this open box and having a completely white screen, no clouding issues and perfect blacks... as perfect as they're going to get on an LED. If you're curious about the capabilities of mini led, this is the TV to get.

Okay, I have to write this as there are very few reviews right now and they seem skewed. I will admit that the Google OS takes some getting used to, but let's just talk about the TV itself. If you hate the OS, buy a Roku or Apple TV. Boom, problem solved. But let's just talk about the picture.
Look, I'm aware this isn't an OLED. I'm also aware that this was literally 1/3 the cost of one at the time of this review... So let's be clear and keep these reviews in check, shall we. Even at 1/3 the cost, this feels like it could be on display at Costco and it would make you stop and go oooohhhhh!
The picture is absolutely phenomenal. My PS5 shines, anything narrated by David Atenborough will make you want to pause and take pictures and send them to your friends to brag, the blacks are inky black. Yes, a (very) little light bleed here and there, but unless you get an OLED that's inevitable. In most cases its even better than what my natural eyes see anyway.
No color or gray/black uniformity issues as others have mentioned. Pictures look nearly 3D and the depth of every picture is enhanced 3X more than I've had in my home before. I know roku has a hit or miss track record, but I own 3 from multiple years and have had nothing but great experiences with them.
Give it some time. Tweak the settings. Set local dimming to low and turn off all motion controls. Just let the TV do the work that you bought it for. Turn off all the bells and whistles and Up's balloons will plaster your room in colors before throwing you into a dark storm.
Contrary to an OLED, I had to turn my brightness way down. 60 out of 100. Adjustable brightness sensors help... But there will be no issues showcasing this in a bright room!
Pictures taken by a phone can never do justice to what you see with your eyes, but here's a few anyway... I would easily buy this again and can firmly recommend it!

The television overall was a very good product. I did have to replace it after about 2 years due to the panel going out but I have been told by many that this is not a normal occurence. I will review this tv as if the panel failure did not occur. Overall the picture quality was very impressive. This is my first 4K tv so I am no expert but I can say it exceeded my expectations.
Pros: default settings looks great and I hardly ever had to adjust the picture quality. Played PS5 games like a champ.
Cons: The smart tv that is built in would lag and sometimes kick me out to the home screen when I was switching apps. It wasn't a deal breaker but could have been a much smoother experience.
Background: I played Switch and PS5 on this tv. Watched a lot of streaming and Blu Rays. TV was in a room without much natural light and was 75".

First of all I want to mention the picture. I have not calibrated this tv, have no skill in such things, and have just used presets with minor tweaks to my taste and must say that it looks fantastic. Also there are a smart settings where it will automatically pick the best settings based on content and in room lighting that seem to work pretty well. I'm coming to this from a 8 year old Panasonic Plasma and the black levels on this get closer to that than I ever would have imagined. I can't compare to OLED as I've never owned one.
After a few days of owning this TV I began to notice the dirty screen effect in 5 or 6 vertical stripes crossing the TV. This was only noticeable sitting off angle a bit and not very much when viewing directly in front. I loosened the screws to the mounting bracket and also a few other screws in the back of the TV. I didn't notice any difference immediately but over the course of a week I realized I was not seeing the dirty screen effect anymore or at least enough for me to notice or even pay attention to it. I'm not sure if it was the screws loosening or just the picture settings I'm using, but I am no longer worried or bothered by the dirty screen effect as I no longer notice it while viewing. I included a couple pictures with the dirty screen effect and then after when it seems fixed.
I am now very satisfied with the overall picture quality, however the Google TV operating system is still a work in progress. All of the issues I've experienced with it have happened while using the quick start option. When not using that option I have not noticed any issues with the Google TV. I've had the menus freeze so I can no longer do anything, lag, apps struggle to launch. Pretty much everything others have already described. I feel like the Google TV does not have enough memory or processing power to handle things or it just cannot clear its cache of information and becomes overloaded until it eventually crashes. Once again this is easily avoided for me by disabling the quick start option and just have the TV do its long startup. It's not as convenient or fast as the quick start but avoids any issues. There was an update a few days ago (week of 12/22/21 so the Wi-Fi no longer drops after quick start, but it's still freezing and crashing if the quick start option is used. I'll update if a software update ever fixes this.
So is this TV worth it? That depends if you are able to get rid of the dirty screen effect and don't mind the long startup time by disabling quick start. To me those are the two major drawbacks. If my dirty screen effect was as severe now as I when I first got it I probably would have returned this television by now since once you see it, it's hard to unsee, and would have annoyed me every time I watch something. However, having that resolved, I would say it's a great value for the money for a 75 inch screen and I have enjoyed my time using it. I've watched a variety of different content and played a handful of video games on it and have had a good experience across the board.
If you want to a very large screen for a much lower price than the name brands give this a try. If you decide it's not for you Best Buy has a very consumer friendly return policy which makes it easy to refund or swap it out for something else.

Ok, let me start out by saying that I reviewed many TV's prior to my purchase. I ended up going into our local best buy 3 times and looking at the higher end models of 75 in TV's. LG, Samsung, and Sony. (I won't be another Sony TV however, after a terrible experience 3 years ago to which Sony would not remedy the situation).
In the Sub $2k price range, the Sony was the best picture of the aforementioned by far. The QLED was absolutely stunning! I know, your asking yourself, dude, why are you talking about the Sony? Well, I spotted the TCL for a sale price of $1299. I saw the reviews on rtings.com and noticed the TCL Google 6 Series was the best reviewed. I thought to myself, well, what is one more trip? (it was on display apparently at the local BB)
The CSR wouldn't find the display on my next visit for a bit, we wondered around and he stated they recently moved everything around... We turned the corner in between the Magnolia section and there it was! My socks were blown off. I told him, there is no way the picture is that good?! It looked almost equivalent to the LG OLED displays, truly. Just stunning. I pulled the trigger, and went home with it, as there was only 1 left in stock!
About the Review now:
1. Yes, not all screen uniformity is the same. On absolute white screen there is some noticeable grey dimming, depending on the angle. But it's absolute minimal, and only barely noticeable on a blank screen.
2. You may want to opt out of the google smart TV function as you another smart option Roku/Xbox/etc. The last update has helped, but I know they have had some major issues with lag.
3. 120 hz/4k 2.1 hdmI xbox looks perfect. HDR, perfect. Movies, sports, The darks/blacks, VIVID images. It's just perfect. 4K content (Earth with Will Smith on Disney Plus) is some of the best content I have ever seen on a TV. Game mode works great.
4. What are you waiting for? You will not be disappointed. Full disclosure I did buy the 5 year warranty, because of what happened with Sony. However, still cheaper than the Sony/LG/Samsung!
5. Reach out with any questions/display/settings and I would love to assist you if I can!

I bought a TCL 646 back a few years ago after wanting a bigger tv that wouldn’t break the bank. I have owned this tv for a while now so I feel pretty confident in giving an honest review. When I first got it I was excited, new tv, biggest I’ve ever owned, etc etc but there were a few glitches that started to show. And not so great news started to be published about them and for a while I felt like I would regret trying this new brand tv, TCL that came so highly recommended. Even though the picture was AMAZING the few glitches it suffered from made the experience not so amazing. Eventually TCL got things together and a few updates later the tv is fantastic, I do use ATV as my primary way to watch things but overall no more glitches. I feel this was very much a one off for the company because I have recommended this brand to all my friends and family members and none of them have complained. I will say my brother didn’t listen at first and purchased a competitor brand and without mentioning the brand let’s just say he had to turn around and eventually listen to me & buy the TCL. I can’t tell you how impressed I am with this brand that I recently got the TCL XL 98 in when it went on sale and if I thought the 646 was amazing the XL blows it out of the water, only to prove that year by year TCL is getting better every year.

BREATHTAKING picture, especially with Dolby Vision content. Was worried about getting one with issues, and I also got the last one in stock at my local store, but mine is flawless. Wasn’t sure I wanted a 75” screen, but I’m so glad I took the plunge! The colors are so vibrant and bright, that I wish I had more screen to stare at. I am really blown away by how deep the blacks are! I really spent a lot of time looking at the LG C1 OLED in the store, and just couldn’t pull the trigger since I wanted brighter over blacks. I seriously won the panel lottery on mine. There’s no vignette in any of the corners, and there is no dirty screen effect anywhere! On my set, I don’t see any halos or blooming of any sort in dark scenes, and blacks look as black as they get to my eyes. I play LG’s OLED showcase video on YouTube for my friends and family to show off this TV and everyone comments how vivid, bright, and stunning the picture is. My only complaints are 1) the TV doesn’t remember settings for non-Dolby vision content, and defaults to Vivid mode? I have to change the mode, and it doesn’t matter if I choose ‘apply to all inputs’ or ‘apply to this input’. 2) There is serious judder on most content. Cranking up the judder and motion smoothing settings creates a lot of strange artifacts, so I’m trying to find a sweet spot. I don’t use any of the TV’s smart features and run everything through my 4K Apple TV, so I can’t comment on the OS that caused so much commotion on it’s launch. I also picked up an LG sound bar that I’m using with it, so I can’t comment on the built in speakers either. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase, and hope this TV is reliable and trouble-free for the next few years.

This tv is definitely a powerhouse. I play Xbox series X and Ps5 on it and the graphics are stunning. This TV gets really bright, the colors are beautiful, smooth frame rate. I did take off one star due to pretty severe blooming in dark scenes. I turned off the Local Dimming completely and it fixed most of these issues. I’m not sure if I got a bad panel, or if this is normal, but the local dimming causes bad blooming in dark scenes. Other than that, it’s beautiful. If Hisense responds to these, I would like to know if these blooming issues are normal or if I have a local dimming issue that can be fixed. Thanks!

I am coming from a 2016 65” LG UH7700, considered a decent TV, Rtings 7.4/10. This TV is AMAZING!!!! Blacks are so black, I think the tv turned off in some dark scenes, or if it’s between commercials and the screen momentarily go black…I THINK THE TV TURNED OFF!!!!!. It didn’t the blacks are that black. I spent some time at a friends condo recently that had an 86” OLED and I see no difference from that experience. If you’ve spent time with an OLED you’ll understand. But here is the wild other part, THIS TV IS SUPER BRIGHT!!! Where the OLED was amazing, it was somewhat dim, but this “squint your eye” bright, which evens add to the contrast. The wall it’s on in my house is in basement. This tv is so bright it looks as if it’s floating, the sheer amount of light, eliminates your perception of anything behind it.

This was the first time I tried TCL and this TV seemed like the perfect fit for me for what I was looking for with the great performance and features and offered at a great price. Unfortunately the first one that I got had a bad panel with what it looks to be vertical banding or really bad dirty screen effect and so I exchanged it for another one. But the second one had the same issue. The pictures show what it looked like with lighter scenes and was especially bad in panning shots or when playing games and panning around in games. One of the pictures shows my 7 year old samsung tv next to it and shows the difference with the darker grey vertical lines. Other than this issue, it was a great TV with great black levels and a very bright screen and didn't run into any of the Google OS issues that many are saying. But every time I was watching anything on it, all I could see were those darker grey lines across the screen that was too much for me to deal with. I ended up returning the second one and probably will just save up to get an OLED next year.

Got this tv on the 12/31/21. It’s been only 5 days but I am very impressed with this tv. I had kind of low expectations because many people were having problems with it. But I went for it anyway. The picture quality is very impressive. It isn’t OLED, but it is close. There is small blooming depending on what you are watching, but it isn’t significant. I haven’t had any problems or bugs with the software. I am very happy with my purchase.

Thought for the price I was being short changed cause of product names like Samsung,LG,Vizio etc. As well unfortunately Best Buy did not have this tv on display. But the tech spoke very highly of the tv as well showed me a 55 inch they did have on display. He spent about 2 hrs with me so I took my gamble and believed him. None the less exited new tv but needed to wait the weekend for geek squad to mount tv. But from that day forward I was blown away from graphics on gaming and non gaming experience. Picture Quality UNBELIEVABLE. I watch more tv now than have I ever have. The sound quality? Put it like this I don’t even use my bose surround sound. I watched encanto with my family and it was better than the theater with the convenience of being right at home as well having our own Theatre at home. I am waiting to pay this tv off to go by the same one for my bedroom next. Ssshhhh P.S. Don’t tell the wife.

This is the Best TV of the Year. Period. So far I have seen it with near OLED contrast and Deep Inky Blacks. At Black Friday price it's a steal and it puts to shame major TV brands Samsung, Sony and LG. The Google TV setup after a major update from TCL is working out great for me so far. If you are thinking of buying a tv this holiday and don’t want to break the bank this is it. The picture quality is amazing. It check all the boxes also. 4k 120hz, Dolby Vision, VRR. Some of the other most expensive TV lack at least one of this features. The only reason not to pick this TV should be because you want to spend $3000 on a Oled. If not get this one. 75inch for $1300? And looks this awesome. The only negative is that they don’t make a 85inch. For now. I’m using a Apple TV 4k. This a review just for the picture quality. Enjoy and thank me later.
