Where have these been the last 8 years?
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The kings of the analog world in the last part of the 20th century strike back landing right in the backyard of many of the industry's heavy hitters! I'm actually jamming Midnight Star's album "No Parking on The Dance Floor from 1983 in LDAC as i write this review. Let me tell you I'm hearing details in my music i never heard before from a ANY of my previous dozenish true wireless earbuds. Sometimes I'll be walking and hear a weird noise and turn around thinking someone is coming up on me but then as i listen i realize it's this headphone ability to accurately create stereo separation making for an excellent soundstage. I mix sound as a side gig so i know a thing or two about sonic accuracy. These definitely check that box for audiophiles once you tune them to your liking. On to the fit. These things fit like a glove. I admit they do look chunky out of the box but they fit my large ears perfectly with the xxl tips. No discomfort and wow do they stay put. No readjusting them every few minutes. Why can't Google an American company with bookoos of money get their pixek buds fit right? I had to return the pro 2 for that reason as well as lackluster done quality. Several years ago i would've likely complained about the battery life as i was out in the field for 10+hrs a day with no downtime to recharge. For me the battery life is more then sufficient asi have a different job. The case is the perfect size and i love the Qi charging! Phone calls have been surprisingly clear with no complaints from the other parties. This is a big deal as what's the point of earbuds that can't handle phone calls effectively? The app is great for being a relatively unknown brand. Has access to all the features in a well laid out UI. On my note 20 ultra i had a weird issue where every time i would open the app it would open like it was never open 5 minutes ago. I figured out android settings were auto closing it wnd now it works as expected. Dual multipoint works as expected. I have not tried the tri multipoint but honestly don't have a need for that. Noise cancellation FOR ME is just right. I don't need dyson vacuum strength NC that creates that weird pressure on your eardrum. They block the standard frequencies will enough to create an ideal listening environment. Best thing about the ANC is IT DOES NOT alter the frequency response creating that dreaded muddy sound when active. Overall For the price, these will rock your socks. Get em and you won't regret it.

AZ80: comfort, quality, and ANC perfected
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Panasonic Technics EAH-AZ80 premium HiFi earbuds are a strong contender in the high-end earbud market, holding their own against big-name brands with a mix of comfort, impressive audio quality, and advanced features. Here’s my take on its standout features and overall performance: Key Features: Sound Quality: Let’s dive into what matters most: Sound Quality. Having tested 20+ pairs of mid- to high-end earbuds, I’d place the AZ80s firmly in my top five. The audio profile offers well-balanced bass and clear highs right out of the box, making it versatile for all genres. Thanks to the 10mm dynamic drivers, the earbuds deliver punchy bass and crisp treble without distortion, even on the “Super Bass” setting in the app. If you’re someone who enjoys detailed, immersive sound, the AZ80s are right up there with the leaders in the current market. Noise Cancellation: The dual hybrid ANC technology is a standout, effectively muting background noise across various environments. I tested it during calls in a busy intersection, and my callers reported clear audio with minimal background interference. A feature I found particularly helpful is the ear tip fit test on the app, which ensures you’re using the right ear tip for optimal noise isolation. This is a game-changer for those, like me, who have struggled with finding the perfect fit in other earbuds. Multipoint Connectivity: Equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, the AZ80s support seamless three-device multipoint pairing. This feature makes it easy to switch between my phone, laptop, and tablet without a hitch—perfect for anyone juggling work calls, streaming, and multitasking throughout the day. Comfort and Fit: Lightweight with an aluminum trim that adds a touch of premium feel, these earbuds are designed for extended wear. They come with multiple ear tip sizes for a secure and comfortable fit. I wore them for hours, including during treadmill workouts, and they stayed put without causing any discomfort. Battery Life: With up to 7 hours of listening time on a single charge with ANC on (and around 25 hours total with the charging case), the AZ80s deliver solid battery life. The charging case ensures you have enough power for a full day of listening without needing a midday recharge. App Integration: The Technics Audio Control app is a great addition, offering customizable options for ANC, EQ Customization, and ear tip fit test for secure fit and optimal noise isolation. It adds flexibility and lets you fine-tune your listening experience to suit your preferences. Overall Impression: These earbuds are comfortable enough for all-day use, and their strong audio performance, effective noise cancellation, and handy multipoint connectivity make them a worthy contender in the premium market. If you're in the market for high-end earbuds, the Technics EAH-AZ80 is definitely worth a try.

Excellent sound quality, ANC could be better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are among the best sounding earbuds and some of the most comfortable to wear, that I have reviewed over the past 5 years. The app is easy to use, too, and can really make a difference in getting the right EQ settings to make them sound their best. The buds store in their charging case, which was charged up enough that I was able to quickly pair them to my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and start listening to them immediately. I’ve owned a lot of Technics audio equipment over several decades and couldn’t wait to test these out. They sounded pretty good, but not as good as expected, which was because I was listening using the default Samsung music player app and it was EQed for my bone conduction Shokz Run Pro II. Not to mention, that Samsung’s music app’s EQ operates in an odd bass-ackward way. Anyways, I changed EQ settings and that helped quite a bit. Later, when time permitted, I downloaded the Technics Sound Connect app and followed its directions for setting up the earbuds. It takes you through selecting the best fitting earpieces for the least amount of sound leakage. Very nice! Audio Quality: After that, I went back to the Samsung music app, set its EQ to a flat response, went back to Technics app and adjusted its graphic EQ, which operates like normal for cutting or boosting frequency bands. They sounded much better now. Then I went back to the Samsung music app and played around with its graphic EQ again for a little extra tweaking and notice they had changed it to operate like normal like I mentioned above in a very recent OS update. Between the two, I got a sound I really liked. Then it was time to try them on the SiriusXM app, with its audio quality set at the highest level. I was impressed. It was almost on par with my FLAC files. I guess SiriusXM has either upped their game recently or these are better than my Galaxy Buds Pro and Master and Dynamic buds. So, I got those buds out to compare and I concluded that SiriusXM must have recently improved their streaming sound quality. At least on the channels I was listening to. All three sounded pretty similar, but I think the Technics edged the other two out in overall audio quality. Especially for nice tight, deep, bass. I listened to artists like Steely Dan, Alan Parsons, Pink Floyd and similar music to test them. Also, classic and 80s-90s country, as well classic rock from the 60s to the early 80s. Sorry, no rap, metal or recent over processed music. But, I’m sure it will sound good in them too. 😉 Active Noise Cancelling: ANC is good, but not the best as in some the buds I have reviewed. The best, so far, goes to the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. Even my Sony WF-SP800N beats them. Here are the extreme tests I used: mowing my yard, running a leaf blower, shop vac and using power tools. Also, hallways full of noisy children at schools. Get a nice tight fit in the ear canal with the Samsungs and you will hardly hear the mower, tools or kids. The Sonys were close. The Technics did ok, but not nearly as good as the Samsungs. For other noise environments that are not so extreme, they did fine. Call Quality: Compared to the Sony and Sammy earbuds, the Technics were the best in every case. I tried all three walking around outside and in the wind at times. I tried all three walking down noisy hallways full of children in schools. I also tried all three while in my personal vehicle, ‘17 Honda Ridgeline RTL, and work vehicle, ‘22 Ford F-250 XL. Pros: Great app and set up to use, EQ and other adjustments. Mention how playback EQ can be different depending on the app used. Such as Samsung’s music player app’s weird EQ. Fits securely in ears and comfortable to wear. Ear tips fit on them snugly. Excellent call quality both ways. Nice charging case – USB-C. Cable included. Excellent sound quality. Especially when you get it EQed to your taste. Deep tight bass and crisp clean highs. Never harsh. Wireless charging. Up to 3 devices connected to them at once. 10mm drivers. Cons. Noise reduction and cancellation could be better. When using while mowing my yard, ANC wasn’t even close to as good as my Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro and Sony WF-SP800N earbuds. To block out moderate noise, they are OK. Could be fatiguing if worn for a long time. Think sore ear canals. Notes: 7.5 hours run time, extended up to 25 hours with charging case. I think these are good for blocking moderate noise at best. Conclusion: Excellent sound quality after a little EQ tweaking, and it can depend on what app you’re playing music from. Excellent call quality. Comfortable fit. The only weakness is the ANC in certain situations mentioned above. An easy recommendation.

Meetings on comp back to music on phone seamlessly
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They have a break in period of about one week for your own ears to get used to the feel. Once they do they are the best buds out there. Utility is 1000% above other TWE buds. I used the large fittings and can't go back to my airpods pro that kept falling out. I can sneeze with them on and they won't move at all.

The best of the best!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a drawer in my house that is currently overflowing with many different pairs of earbuds. Over the last few years, I have been on the hunt to find the perfect pair of earbuds. While I don’t actually think the perfect pair exist, these are as close to perfection as I have found so far. Out of the box you can tell these are a premium product. The case has a nice brushed metal look to it, although I believe it is actually plastic. The case features wireless charging as well as usb-c. The buds themselves go in and out of the case very easily. One pet peeve I have of many other buds is that they are very hard to get in and out of the case, no such problem with these. The buds themselves are a little on the larger size to accommodate the bigger drivers inside. I found that they still fit comfortably in my ears without any problems. They include a wide array of tips so you can try different ones to find the ones that work best for you. They are all basically the same silicone tips in different sizes though. I wish more companies would include some of the foam ear tips as well as I find they conform to the shape of your ear much better than the silicone ones do and give you a better seal. I guess I will see if any other manufacturers make them. With that minor gripe aside, I found that the large silicone ones worked well for me. I could jog or move my head around and never felt like they were going to fall out. The buds themselves (not the case) are IPX4 water resistant rated, so you don’t have to worry about sweat or getting caught in the rain. For the sound quality of these, I think they sound amazing. I know a lot of people talk about the wide sound stage when it comes to these buds, and they are absolutely right. It almost gives you a “live” feeling when you are listening to your music, even more so with spatial audio tracks. There is a great balance of bass, mids, and treble. There is also a 5 band custom EQ in the app you can use to dial in the perfect sound. It also has some presets as well. I found the dynamic preset to work best for me. Also, within the app you can set your noise canceling and ambient sound levels. You can either have it completely off, turned on, but still hear ambient noise, or have the full noise cancelling. The last 2 both have a separate dial that hoes from 0-100 so you can dial in the exact amount of outside noise you want, or don’t want. I found the noise cancelling to work very well. I am an avid bike rider and I always have trouble with wind noise when I have noise cancelling on. These aren’t perfect, but they are by far the best I have used on any ear bud. If you are just sitting in your living room or walking down the street or somewhere where there is a lot of street noise, these will work great for blocking most of that out. Like most other ear buds these do have the touch controls that you can tap in different patterns to do different things like control volume or skip tracks. I found they work pretty well. Although you always have the problem if you are trying to adjust the earbud in your ear and you accidentally trigger something you didn’t mean to. The battery life is on par with most other ear buds. They claim 7 hours of listening time. When they are in the case you can charge them and get another 24 hours of time as well. Overall, I can say I have tested over 20 pairs of various earbuds from different manufacturers and these are at the top of the list. These really are the best of the best in this price range. Definitely give them a listen if you are in the market for some high end ear buds.

Bass pounds the lows out while flowing flawlessly with hi and midrange along with the singer’s voices. Touch gestures are smooth and intuitive, from phone calls too operating techniques while listening to music and gaming. Luckly Technics had the foresight to provide a 41-page PDF manual for download. Pros: - Ergonomic earbud design – great fit for all day wear - Sound Clarity - very good noise canceling - Extraordinary Music Reproduction - 7-hour battery life - Water resistant - Connect to three Bluetooth devices simultaneously - Earbuds can be used independently - LDAC Bluetooth codec – allows for up to three times the data streaming over typical Bluetooth codecs - EQ modes can be created in the app to suit your listening Technics Premium HiFi earbuds bring a lot to the table at a good price point in a high performing State of the Art personal sound system. Perfect Earbuds!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These will be some of the best earbuds you’ll ever own. You can get something fairly inexpensive online, but I highly recommend this if youre able. I can’t say how much I enjoy using these. I’ve used them everyday since I got them and I’m super happy. Setup was simple and straight forward. It has both an android or iOS app connectivity. It basically walked you through the process. It helped suggest some music settings, but I really liked how detailed and customized you can get. You can truly set the earbud to find your optimal music experience. The app is optional, but I highly recommend it to get the best experience out of these. You can easily just go to the Bluetooth setting and connect them without the app. I personally utilized the app for the full experience and was happy. The app was a little intimidating, but I knew it was to help ensure I had the best listening experience possible. I also like how the app tells you the battery life of each earbud. I wish the earbuds felt a little more secure while in the case, but it’s not a deal breaker. Call quality was extremely impressive. I feared it would sound a bit funky since I tinkered them for my music preferences, but I was impressed with the call quality. I was able to hear the person on the other side extremely well. I tested these by going on a walk and it didn’t disappoint. It was a moderately traffic area and the noise cancelling feature did their thing. It was rather creepy being able to hear the person without the sound of cars. So that was a plus in my book! I really liked how I can control the volume, pause and play setting by touching the earbud. It’s cool and convenient I can do this on the buds. Aside from connecting these to my phone, I use it with my laptop so I can take zoom calls. The meeting sound is crisp and my coworkers have had no issue of me speaking. Big win! Pros: Sound quality Music quality Battery Quick charge Different size ear pods Technics Audio Connect App Noise canceling Ambient sounding Can adjust volume, pause/play on bud Water resistant Can connect to three different devices Cons: Finding your perfect setting in app a little intimidating Overall: These are the best ear bud headphones I’ve had. Period. This is a must if you’re able to swing the price. The app is very extensive with a lot of features. I really like how it allows you to fully tinker and find your perfect combo for music and talking. Seriously, with these you can’t go wrong.

Excellent Sound, Solid Bass, Support LDAC codec
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These earbud's strength is their ability to play hi-resolution audio. The sound is well balanced, clean, and accurate. The bass is strong and the mid and lows are clear. To maximize these earbuds’ full potential, I switched the Bluetooth streaming codex on my phone from SBC to LDAC (Lossless Digital Audio Codec). Anybody serious about getting premium sound from wireless headphones will look for a device that supports LDAC. These earbuds definitely produce reference quality sound that makes them worth their price point. However, it is important to note that not all devices/phones support the LDAC codec. Unfortunately, iPhones and some early model Android phones do not support LDAC. However, these earbuds still produce excellent sound quality using the standard form of audio compression (SBC or AAC). Apple uses its proprietary audio codec, AAC. I tested these earbuds on my wife’s iPhone, and the sound is still very good. Other positives worth mentioning: they are very comfortable, comes with 7 earpieces, the app has good sound enhancements/equalizer options (Dynamic was my favorite), really good noise cancelling, great mic and sound isolation during phone calls, the ability to locate your earbuds if lost, and the ability to connect up to 3 devices simultaneously. Note: when using LDAC as the wireless transmission option, it is only possible to connect up to 2 devices simultaneously. I did encounter a few limitations. The main one being that I could not get Google Assistant to work. The product supports Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant, however, on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, every time I try to activate it, Bixby responds rather than Google Assistant. I do not want Bixby to respond, and I have not been able to figure out how to make Google Assistant respond with these earbuds. Hopefully, an update to the Technics app will make this easier in the future. Another limitation, and this is a limitation with most wireless headphones/earbuds, the volume cannot get extremely loud. However, it does get loud enough. And to some, it may be too loud. I just know that if I want to crank up my music to borderline unhealthy levels, I would be using a wired headset with a small in-line external amp. And finally, I found the earpiece fitting process to be a little inconsistent. The app has a feature available that will walk you through figuring out which size earpiece to use. You start with a certain size earpiece and the app will use the mics and sensors on the earbuds to determine if you need a smaller or larger earpiece. I went through the process a couple times and got varying results. I ended up going back to the medium sized earpiece, the one that I started with, because they provided a snuggest fit and were the most comfortable. I guess I could have figured this out on my own, but it was fun trying this feature in the app. Overall, I am very happy with these earbuds. They produce excellent sound. I almost gave them 4 out of 5 stars because of the Google Assistant issue, but I’m thinking a future app update can fix this. Otherwise, in terms of sound quality, these earbuds are excellent.

Premium comfort, features, performance & ANC!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With an MSRP clocking in at three Benjamins, these Technics noise-cancelling true wireless earbuds are up against some healthy competition against other premium-level offerings from the likes of Sony, Bose, Jabra, Apple, Sennheiser, and more. But after a few weeks with the EAH-AZ80s, I can honestly say that they handily hold their own against, and easily beat, some of the top-tier offerings from those competing brands in terms of comfort, features, performance, and (surprisingly) ANC quality. If you’re considering a pair of premium ANC earbuds that will allow for some critical music listening but also tame a noisy environment at work or home, I can comfortably say you should have these at or near the top of your VERY short list of contenders. In terms of comfort and fit, I’ve never been a fan of the dangle-down-outside-your-ears-style buds…my anatomy makes them feel like they’re always going to fall out. As you can see in the photo I’ve attached of just some of the buds I ran the Technics up against over the past few weeks, I tend to lean towards the more bean-shaped buds with protruding “driver nozzles” at the tips that seal just inside, and squirt their sound down through, the ear canals. For me, that eartip seal is often a source of discomfort and fatigue because I can’t quite get a good fit with the manufacturer’s included S/M/L eartips. Similarly, the shape of the buds’ shell can sometimes fail to conform well to the anatomy of my outer ear resulting in hot spots or a really loose fit. The Technics EAH-AZ80s conquered both of these issues…at least for me, my anatomy, and my comfort preferences. Starting with the eartips, Technics provides seven (!!!!) full sets of silicone eartip sizes with XS and S tips that vary in both depth and width. Each is capped with a bit of foam, rather than simply a gaping hole, which helps create a better-conforming and more comfortable seal, while also keeping wax and other debris from making their way down towards the drivers. Helpfully, there are no pressure-inducing winglets or additional sizing rings around the buds that are necessary for a good fit, either. Instead, the buds have gentle undulating curves and bulges at the top, bottom, front, and back of the shell to help seat them gently but securely in front of the antihelix and wedged between the tragus and antitragus. The result, for me, was a SUPREMELY comfortable fit that allowed me to wear the buds during an entire workday, and didn’t slowly shake their way loose during an evening run. In terms of style and build quality, the Technics have a clean, slightly understated look with just a splash of contrasting colors for the printed brand name on the touch-panel buttons and the tiny side microphone screens. There are no garish pictures/logos or loud ornamentation that would be distracting or otherwise make the buds look out of place in a professional or workplace setting. The wireless charging case (nice!) is on the smaller side making the entire setup a breeze to pocket in a pair of jeans or workout shorts. The buds themselves look like they’d be rather large in use, but they actually have a reasonably low profile when worn and don’t stick so far that it looks like you’ve sprouted a pair of kidney beans floating outside of your ears. The Technics companion app is one of the few I’ve found to be REALLY useful for setup and operation due to the number and range of features available. Of course, there are the standard features like user guides and firmware checks, as well as links to cleaning and maintenance guides and videos. But a really handy in-app function is the automated eartip sizing routine. Given that you have so many eartip sizes to pick from, the app walks you through a set of measurements to determine which eartips will block out the most ambient noise. In my case, the app identified that my right ear measured a little better seal (and ultimately proved to be more comfortable) using a smaller eartip than the one I was wearing on the left. Additional app functions include battery level readings for the buds and the case, activating a “find my” function for wayward earbuds, a voice-test function that allows you to adjust the volume of your voice based on how the caller would hear it, and EQ adjustments with 6 sound presets and a custom 5-band EQ setting with 10dB of boost/cut per band. You can customize the touch sensor buttons with 4 operations per bud (1x/2x/3x taps & touch+hold), control noise-cancellation level/aggressiveness, as well as adjust your hear-through settings for full transparency (everything gets in) or attention-getting (enhances voices around you while still attenuating background noise in case you want to carry on a conversation without having to remove your buds). You can also adjust BT performance to minimize streaming interruptions or reduce A/V latency, change the number of multipoint connections (these buds support THREE devices simultaneously!), and adjust the connection mode for codec support that emphasizes either sound quality (LDAC) or connectivity (SBC). Finally, you can choose what happens when you remove the earbuds and whether you want the touch sensors to work when worn or not. But how do they perform? In a word: amazing! These buds offer audio performance that legitimately lives up to the “Premium HiFi” moniker Technics used in the name of this product. The sound is rich, clear, detailed, and full-bodied. If you run the buds completely flat/non-EQ'd, you might feel like the sound is maybe just a bit “polite” in that the bass and sub-bass regions are appreciably taut and snappy, but not necessarily chest-thumpingly hefty right out of the box. But if you *do* crave a bit more bloom in the low end, a slight bump in EQ easily produced that visceral bass “thump” in the sternum that is characteristic of larger high-quality monitors or over-the-ear headphones. And if you happen to have a source component that supports the LDAC codec, feed these buds some really high-quality streams (24-bit/96kHz) and the sonic improvement can sound like you're lifting a veil off the music...VERY impressive! Active noise cancelling performance was equally as impressive. At maximum noise cancelling levels, it was honestly difficult for me to make out much of anything around me, enough so that I had to actively engage transparency mode or take the buds out entirely whenever anyone tried to talk to me. In a crowded and noisy environment, the Technics did a fantastic job of taming ambient noise to the point that it was easy to listen to music or watch a movie without distraction. In quieter environments, the ANC created an almost inky black background of pure silence. That silence did come with a very minor caveat, however--I noted just a *hair* of lost fidelity when engaging ANC...bass frequencies didn’t seem to be affected but mids and vocals felt just a tad thinner. Honestly, I doubt I would have noticed had I not been switching ANC on and off for A/B comparisons--during normal use, I found that even the most aggressive ANC settings didn’t hollow out the sound enough to be distracting or even disappointing. Finally, call quality was exceptional both on my end and for the caller (so I was told on multiple occasions), and the ability to monitor and tailor my voice level and background noise masking for the caller’s sake was another welcome and unexpected flourish to an already impressive showing by these buds. If I had to pick nits, I would say that I’m of mixed opinions about the touch panels. They keep the contours of the earbuds smooth and continuous, but I found them to be unreliable at times, with the press & hold activation in particular proving a bit tricky on multiple occasions. I have always appreciated actual buttons with tactile feedback to help register a successful press—with these, I was often getting a 2x press function activated before I had actually reached the third press on the sensor. But I suspect with practice my timing will get better, and the variability in touch-panel performance wasn’t so frequent that it became problematic. Overall, I think Technics really knocked it out of the park with these premium buds...they have already supplanted both my top-tier and daily driver earbuds because they managed to provide all-day comfort, with highly effective ANC and exceptionally fine sound quality. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!

Technics Premium HiFi True Wireless Ear Buds
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have both the HiFi and Premium HiFi Ear Buds from Technics and they are both excellent ear buds. I could almost write the same review for both but there are some small differences. I had already wrote and posted a review of the HiFi ear buds on Best Buy’s site before I received the Premium set, a portion of that review is copied below since it applies to both and I added info specific to this premium set. The sound quality of these earbuds is also amazing, especially after using the Audio Connect app to fine tune the sound to my liking. The default setting needed a little more bottom end for me, the “Dynamic” setting is where I’m at now. It brightens the high end too, where bass boost or super bass boost only increases the low end. I do notice if I have the volume set higher up that I need to back off on the highs some or the sounds like cymbals and high guitar notes seem harsh to me. At lower volume levels I still prefer the Dynamic setting at it’s defaults. I’ve worn these at work with the ambient sound on when I’m in the warehouse, we’re not allowed earbuds when customer facing. I didn’t have any trouble having a conversation with them in, there is an option in the app to emphasize talking voices if you’d like but with the mid boost it provided it seemed to add a hiss so I leave that off. The app is pretty thorough, it even has a feature which helps you select the proper size earpiece. I went through the procedure and it instructed me to use an XL size on the left earbud and an L on the right. I was not surprised since I had an injury on my left ear that left the opening slightly enlarged. I was impressed that it could tell that I needed a larger earpiece on that side! They came with seven different sizes of earpieces so I can’t imagine having a problem getting a good fit. These earbuds have an IPX4 water resistance rating so light water splashes are ok, just don’t submerge them! Getting caught out in the rain or sweating through your workout shouldn’t be a problem. I found that removing one earbud automatically pauses playback, it resumes playing when you reinsert it. The behavior is also customizable in the app. You can use just one earbud if you’d like but remember the the left bud can control volume and the right one can skip forward or backward one track on the default settings. You can customize those in the app if you’d like. You can also disable the touch sensor completely if you need to. Not a problem for me but my son has longer hair that covers his ears and his hair kept pausing playback when it touched the bud. I don’t normally use wireless charging for my devices, I have one battery pack that has wireless charging on it so I tried it and it does work just fine. Battery life on the earbuds seems really good, I have yet to fully drain them since I listen at work for a few hours and put them back in the case. Case should be good for three full recharges. I get through a full week at work if I start with fully charged buds and case on Monday. On the noise cancellation, I messed with it quite a bit, but it doesn’t seem to work as well as the over the ear noise canceling headphones do. I tried them while cutting the lawn (Vtwin gasoline engine) and also around the large air circulators at work and I didn’t hear too much difference between “off” and “noise cancelling”. I did not hear any static while cutting the lawn, sometimes small engines like that produce RFI noise but the connection was clean on these. I was surprised to see that the included 9” charge cable is usb-c on both ends, there is no charger included. I had to borrow the wife’s iphone charger since it has usb-a and c ports, I need to pick up an extra usb-a to c cable so I can charge the case at work. I took a pic of the HiFi and Premium HiFi buds side by side and as you can see, they are not exactly the same shape. To my eye, the Premium buds are slightly slimmer but taller than the HiFi buds. It looks like the ear piece is offset a bit more on the HiFi buds also. I can’t say that it makes one pair fit me better than the other though. I do believe the Premium pair has a bit better sound, possibly because they are fitted with 10mm drivers vs the 8mm drivers in the HiFi buds. There has been a couple firmware updates since I first received these, not surprising since they’re new on the market. The updates installed easily through the app in a very short time. I really like the app and these earbuds.

Excellent pair of earbuds.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent pair of earbud headphones. The accompanying app is great and makes the user experience nice and simple. Follow the instructions and you will have a pleasant experience using these. I have small ears and I usually would never pick a pair of these as my first choice to listen to something on my phone or tablet in private but these came with a bunch of different sized nubs that go in your ear that actually fit inside my ear without giving me a headache. That alone gives them a five star rating in my book. Did I mention they sound great? I have a ton of over the ear headphones that I use for listening to music and playing games on my gaming rig and I never in a million years thought a pair of buds would be a alternative but here we are. It isn't the norm but I'd give these a shot for a gaming session. Got a few hours in before I was ready to take them out. Didn't even notice them in my ears. These have a interesting bit of tech when it comes to noise cancelling. The wind noise option is okay. Folks who I talked to weren't impressed with the voice quality but I rarely talk to folks on my phone anyway so its not that big of a deal for me. The big thing is the fact that you can connect to three devices at one time and the LDAC capability only works when you are connected to either one or two devices. If you aren't in need of the high quality audio then go crazy and connect to three devices (which is subject to personal experience, my ears don't notice too much of a difference from having that option turned on or off). Making sure you have the correct tip on them is key to making sure you have a great experience using them. I tried a few before I finally settled on the size that fits properly in my ears and the app has a guide that checks the seals in your ears for sound leaking which is awesome all by itself. Spend some time in the app and go through all the options and don't just put them in your ears and go about your business. You'll thank me later. The case charges wirelessly and I got a good six hours out of a full charge on the buds at about 40 percent volume and ambient sound set at 100% MAX. When I am in the house I don't use noise cancelling. With noise cancelling on is about the same range of use about six hours with a full charge. Sound quality A+ Ease of use A+ Battery life A+ I definitely would recommend buying these if you don't have a pair and your willing to spend $299.99 for a pair.

Almost absolute perfection
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a programmer and I use headphones for 5+ hrs every weekday. These are the headphones I've considered in this comparison review Sony XM4, XM5, Sennheiser Momentum 4, Sony ULT Wear The negatives: The lack of bass. I don't think it has any base. If you are listening to rock, you will hear the bass guitar just fine but you wont really hear the kick from the drummer. I know these are in ear headphones but the extremely buggy and a pain to deal with Sennheiser Momentum 4s beat these guys in sound. That being said, these are very very close to it. The lag when you are using touch controls on ear pieces. This is apparent to me especially when I am trying to tap it twice to get to the next song. Often, it wont register the second tap and will just pause the song as if I had one tapped it. Even when it registers correctly, there is a half second delay till it actually applies the command. The positives: Super comfy. I noticed at work I just don't take these off anymore. I constantly took off the other headphones I mentioned above. Noise cancelling: Wow... Seriously impressive. I can compare this to the Sennheisers because both of them I've had in the same environment and pretty much one after another. These are amazing. Almost as amazing as the over the ear XM4s. Seriously impressed. The battery: As I said, these are on my ears the whole time I am at work. After 7+ hrs of active noise cancellation, close to my leaving the work time (I dont take lunch) I get a notification saying "charge the headset" but it never dies till I leave from work. I can safely say I get 8 hours of ANS with these which super impressive. The 10 minute drive I do to my gym after work gives me back almost %80 of charged headphones. Great deal Connectivity: Never had a single issue. It just connects to things that I expect it to connect when I turn them on and stays connected. Sound: Even though I'd like to have the bass little more pronounced, it really does sound crisp and clear. It still has bass I just wish there were just a little more I've used all those headphones from minimum of a month(Sennheisers) to a 3 years(XM4s). I was going to try the Denons but I am keeping these. I don't need to get anything else. Great headphones.

The best what Panasonic can offer today!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.During the first quarter of this year Panasonic Technics has realized to premium ANC true wireless earbuds namely the AZ80 and the AZ60M2 models. While touted as”siblings” each model provides premium quality audio from Panasonic. This review will focus on the Panasonic Technics AZ80. The Panasonic Technics AZ60M2 is the “elder sibling” of the two but is very similar to its “younger sibling”. The major difference between the two models is that the the AZ80 has 10mm drivers whereas the AZ60M2 has 8mm drivers. Out of the box and once paired to your phone, the delivers a wide soundstage outright which is already a good sign. But what is impressing me outright are the customization features available via its app where you can download either for iOS or Android. And if you have an Android device, the sound codec used is LDAC which is a cut above AAC if you use an iPhone. Unfortunately, I no longer have an Android phone which supports LDAC. But AAC out of the box paired with my iPhone is already impressive. So for the customization, first there are seven pairs of earbuds whereas the industry standard is just having three pairs. But to top that, the app boasts of selecting the best earpiece option which makes which earpiece more “scientific” according your hearing and ear fit. And like most premium earbuds it has custom controls for the level of ANC used and also its transparency mode levels. But to further control the audio output, audio-presets are available and a custom equalizer is also available to perfectly suit to your audio preferences. Call quality of the AZ80 can be tested within the app. You can test your voice as what can be heard by the party you are talking to. This is a mixed bag for me since my initial use resulted to mediocre call quality. Nonetheless this works. Battery life is rated at seven hours with a total of around 24 hours with the use of the charging dock which is pretty much standard. Likewise, the charging dock uses USB-C instead of the older older USB-B standard. But to add, the charging dock supports wireless charging which is nice. Other features the AZ89 has is its find feature. Just in case you misplace them you can use audio beeps to locate your “lost” earbuds. But on top of that, in case you left your earbuds in another location, you can see the location in a map similar to find your device options found in iOS and Android devices. Overall, these are great earbuds and I would recommend them to others. But this makes me wonder if it is still worth the more expensive AZ80. But if you want to the beast what Technics can offer, then this is the earbuds for you.

Great multipoint point ear buds.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the ear buds... Setup was really fast. After initial charge of about 4 hours. I have 2 phones. Both android and it took all but a few minutes to do. After impaired both phones user interface was super easy. From noise cancelling to pass through. Percentage of pass through and noise cancelling was good. Sound quality of music and phone are all superb. I love the fact that you can connect more than 1 device to these headphones. More devices should do this. Super convenient with a personal phone and work phone for those that have this setup. I have nothing but good raves about this device. Including about 4 days worth of use with a fully charged holder and ear buds. So not here are some of the quirks. Pass through mode: a) when you are in your car and close the door it has a bit of a low frequency bump that can rattle you if you are not used to it b) from ambient to answering calls and hanging up calls there is a switch over that occurs and it momentarily goes to noise cancelling then back to pass through. This can throw your balance off.if you're not used to this either. Button and swipe functions are easy to use on the buds. Nice color. They are a bit bigger than other brands but did well in staying in my ears and held long charge. I like these. Been using these for over 2 weeks now. Good job Panasonic. I would recommend these buds for the above.

My New Favorite Premium Earbuds!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using the Technics AZ80s everyday now for the past week and a half. Out of all flagship earbuds I've owned in the past, these are by far the best sounding earbuds I've had the pleasure of using. However, do bear in mind that if you're looking for headphones that produce loads of maximum volume, these AZ80s are not it. While they produce a respectable level of volume, these earbuds are more geared toward providing a premium Hi-Res wireless audio experience. What you end up with is a very balanced and optimally tuned soundstage. Not only do these sound great, but they're also feature packed. They have some of the best ANC I've ever used, multi-point connectivity, great battery performance, support for SBC/AAC/LDAC codecs, IPX4 water resistant (for earphones, not the case), a plethora of earpiece sizes and shapes to find the right fit, and a supported wireless Qi charging case. In terms of the audio performance, on the default EQ setting (i.e. "Direct"), you get a very wide and open soundstage. Vocals are incredibly clear and rich, treble & mids sound crisp, and the bass is perfectly balanced (punchy bass with a decent level of depth). While the default EQ preset is perfectly suitable for most music genres, the Technics "Audio Connect" application is a must download on Android or iOS due to the copious amounts of customization options available. I've used these earbuds extensively with my Samsung S22 Ultra. If you're on Android, then you're in for a special treat; LDAC enabled audio! In order to enable the LDAC codec I did have to enable LDAC in the Audio Connect app first. Only then was an LDAC toggle option available under my "Bluetooth connection settings". Music with LDAC enabled on my S22 Ultra plus the Technics AZ80s is a match made in heaven. The music genres I've listened to the most while using these AZ80s has been electronic/techno, country, hip hop, metal, classic rock, jazz, and classical. The EQ presets "bass+" and "super bass+" complemented the electronic/techno and hip hops genres perfectly. For classical, country, and jazz, I loved the "dynamic" and "treble+" presets. The result was a a very clear, clean, and open sound stage that really allowed me to discern the different instruments. Of course, you also have the option to create your own custom EQ presets. I'm a huge fan of "Multipoint" feature with these AZ80s. They allow you to have up to 3 bluetooth devices paired at the same time. As far as I know, these are the only earbuds on the market that allow for up to 3 devices. Do bear in mind, however, that having LDAC enabled only allows for up to 2 devices. Switching between multiple devices was flawless for me. I noticed that for the most seamless transition, it helped to pause or minimize whatever content I was listening to between switching over to another device. The fit of the Technics AZ80s on my average sized ear canals are very snug and comfortable. In fact, these might be the most comfortable in-ear headphones I've used. I was pleasantly surprised as they are fairly large earbuds in comparison to some other earbuds on the market. I've taken these to the gym and have done resistance training, I've ran with them, and I've also rowed with them. I'm happy to report that these are great workout companions that shouldn't fall out of your ears so as long you choose the correct earpiece size. Also, since they're IPX4 certified, getting sweat on them wasn't a concern. Technics includes 7 different earpiece silicone sizes all the way from various extra small sizes all the way to extra large so that you find the most comfortable fit as well as the best seal for ANC. Speaking of ANC, it is bar none the best ANC I've experienced on any in-ear headphones. Not only did it do a fantastic job of drowning out all the background noise around me, but it allowed me to customize the level of ANC that I wanted applied to my surroundings via a slider wheel on the Audio Connect app. The same goes for the Ambient Sound settings which allows the earbuds to detect natural voices around you and emphasizes those sounds over your music. This is such a useful feature for me at work as I tend to work with earbuds on. This allows me to hear my co-workers if they're trying to get my attention which also beats having to pause the music or take my earbuds off. These Technics AZ80s have proven to be the complete package for me. Not only are they the best sounding earbuds I've heard, but they come packed full of premium features that are useful for my everyday life such as ANC, multipoint, and their versatility in the gym. They also have a long battery life providing up to 7 hours of life (real world use for me with LDAC enabled and high volume was more like 5 to 5.5 hrs) plus 24 hours of backup battery with the charging case. The charging case is also Qi certified so it can be charged wirelessly! A 15 minute "quick charge" session also provides an additional 70 minutes of playback! If you're looking for a premium audio experience in a portable form factor, I highly recommend checking these out.

Get lost in the music
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve spent some time with these technics earbuds. I consider myself a somewhat of an audio snob. And these buds deliver. Straight out of the box you get over 5 different options for sizes of earbud tips to ensure a great fit. The unboxing experience is great and feels very quality. These earbuds are also complimented with extra features that the companion app for them. It makes it easy to calibrate your earbud tip sizes to your ears. It will test for leakage and recommend the different sizes. Very cool. You can also set up your EQ in the app. As well as your noise cancellation settings. The noise cancellation is pretty good on these. Especially if you get the earbud tips size right. The sound on these are really good. They have decent bass without being too much. (You could also adjust this if desired) The clarity just takes into the moment. There was times with them on I just kinda would just get caught in the music and forget what I was doing. I can’t say that’s ever happened with other buds. They are great solid buds that do everything it needs and nothing it doesn’t. They look great. The case is USBC and wireless charging. Only thing that I wish. Small thing… I wish they were louder. That’s tiny because they are perfect at max. But I just like the ability to push like that extra 5-10% to really jam. But other than that 10/10.
