We have another TomTom, but it is a VIA that is about a year or so old. This version is not as easy to use as our VIA. We are both having a hard time with the search feature, it just is not intuitive. I consider myself to be pretty tech savvy. It works OK and the price was good, so we decided not to return it, but I would go with another model or brand if you are looking for a GPS device.

Posted .Hi UtahJ, I am sorry to read that you returned the GO 60. I want to come back to your comment about search. We have tried to make search as easy as possible by offering the option of just typing and having the first results - both addresses and POIs - shown on the screen. You can enter your destination in a number of ways including exact address, post code, city, and point of interest (e.g. best buy) or co-ordinates.

I thought it would be a great improvement over my 6+ yrs old tom tom but, the go60 only good feature for me was the 6 inch screen. I was travelling on I20E in the Atlanta area and was directed into an off ramp lane before I realized the error and found myself on a regular street, I wanted to stay on I20 until I95 - that's unforgivable.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this product specifically for the Bluetooth capabilities thinking that I would be able to pair the device with my car and have the directions transmitted through my car speakers for safer driving. However, the bluetooth connection doesn't connect he device to the car, it only connects to smart phones and works via a downloadable app. The app offers a free trial and it is the only way that you can preview a list of directions. The map on the device becomes very difficult to view in daytime driving and the difficult screen visibility increases when there is a glare (i.e. during sunrise). The touch screen key pad is sticky and responds slower than any touch screen key pad that I've ever come across. The device doesn't allow for directions to an intersection, only to specific addresses.The directions are spot on and haven't been "loopy" as some GPS guided directions can be. The device also allows for you to program your own routes, useful if you know a shortcut in a particular part of town. I also like that it lists gas stations along the route.

Posted .Hi ItGotMeThere, I am saddened to read that the GO 60 has not won you over. The reason why the GO should be paired with your phone and why the app is required is to receive real-time TomTom Traffic. We decided to use it as the new standard over RDS-TMC as we believe the difference in coverage and accuracy is very substantial. You can see a list of instructions on your GO 60, though, and do not have to rely on an app for that. Please make sure you have the most recent software (version 14.600) installed on it as we implemented a turn-by-turn list again. You can find that list in the Current Route Menu by selecting " Show Instructions". I want to also come back to your comment about the responsiveness of the screen. Please take into account that the GO 60 has a resistive screen. That type of technology requires pressure and not simply the touch of your finger, like smartphones or tablets, which usually have a capacitive screen. Horrible interface to work with, can't see the screen if there is any sun and then forcing you to pair it with a phone to get traffic updates. If I would have started using this device right away I wouldn't have it today. Regret having held on to it past the return date cause compared to the Garmin this is like a flip phone in a world of smart phones. Does the direction well but that is about it. Wanted to say at least one good thing about it. Honestly this is a horrible device please do yourself a favor and look at the Garmin or other GPS units. Knowing what I do now you couldn't give this device to me.

The screen brightness is adjustable. In the main menu select settings, appearance and the display.
