VERY poor range, lies from customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router for my parents who are understandably concerned about being exposed to constant 5G radiation 24/7. This router has the ability to turn off wifi on a schedule, while still being able to run hardwired devices (unlike their old Eero router.) That feature works perfectly. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends... Sitting about 8 feet away from the router I was able to get almost 700 MBPS on my iPhone. But move 30 feet down the hall, or go upstairs and it dropped to under 40. Their Roku was constantly disconnecting, and my mother was unable to do her grocery ordering anywhere but in the same room as the router. I contacted tech support, and thus began a two-week exercise in futility. They had me change settings, create two different networks, send them multiple screenshots of speed tests, and gave me completely false information. In the end, they finally just admitted their product isn't very good for anything other than a small unenclosed space, and told me to buy more equipment! Exact text from tech support email: "The performance of 2.4G is inherently not as good as 5G. It is also subject to interference from more factors, and one cannot expect its performance to be good after going through floor. The wall penetration performance of 5G is relatively poor, and there will be more noticeable attenuation. These are all normal phenomena. For the coverage range, the RF power of this device is already close to the maximum allowed by policy. I recommend that you can: 1.Add a repeater (RE) to extend the coverage range. 2.Use an old router as a wireless repeater (WDS)" I promptly returned this piece of junk back to the store, and after plugging my parents' old Eero router back in, I am able to get 244 MBPS in the same exact spot where I was getting 31 with this one (see attached photos). Sadly, the only router I have found which appears to have both decent range AND the ability to run hardwired devices without wifi is the ASUS Zen which costs more than twice as much as this one. My parents are on a fixed income, so unfortunately they are stuck with the Eero and radiation. Bottom line: don't buy stuff from a company that lies to you like TP-Link.

Dead within a day
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awful experience. I bought one unit from Best Buy and one of the same model from Amazon. Both died within a day of setup and because they were bought in advance of service needed, I could no longer return to store and needed to deal with TP-Link's slow replacement process. I've been without internet now for close to two weeks. Worried that the replacement unit being sent could have the same thing happen to it. Save your money and time.

Unreliable 2.4GHz wifi and reboots during load
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router to replace an TP-Link Archer C9 that worked flawlessly for years until one day it just stopped for no apparent reason. I was expecting this newer model to be an upgrade, but it's been a disappointment. The router has all the features I need and more, but it reboots randomly at the worst times (during conference calls) and the 2.4GHz Wifi just stops working randomly until it is disabled and re-enabled, or the whole router rebooted. All my smart home appliances and wifi printer connect to the 2.4GHz wifi, so it is VERY annoying when this happens. I have installed 2 firmware updates already. The most recent one promised to help with the reboots (it is a known issue), but then the 2.4GHz wifi issues started. I am considering returning it, but I can't be without a router for long because I work from home.

Posted .Hi,
Thank you for your review. To ensure the best possible signal, it's important to make sure placement is as optimal as possible. In modern network environments it is common for neighboring 2.4GHz wireless networks to overlap, causing WiFi congestion and interference. By changing the 2.4GHz wireless channel you can improve wireless signal strength, bandwidth, and range. Please take a moment to look over our FAQ on changing the wireless channel: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-2292.html
To ensure optimal performance of your wireless router please check, and if needed, update its firmware using the steps outlined in our FAQ: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-2139.html

You get what you pay for
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My router was deemed a "unique case" by TP-Link, but I just returned it to avoid the headache. Inconsistent speeds wirelessly. Customer service also told me they only guaruntee 40-60% of your wired speed through wireless on this. Not good.

Posted .Hi,
Thank you for your review. Our Archer AX20 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Router is designed for quick and intuitive setup, offering several options for your convenience, including the TP-Link Tether app, or a web browser.
If you encountered difficulty with the Internet connection step of the setup, it could be that your modem's MAC (Media Access Control) binding needs to be released and renewed, so it can provide an IP address (and Internet) to the Router. This can typically be done using the following steps:
1. Unplug the power from both your router and cable modem
2. Unplug the coax cable from the modem
3. Re-connect power ONLY to your cable modem
4. Wait until the cable modem is fully booted, then re-connect coax
5. Re-connect power to the router and connect it to the modem via Ethernet
This process should release and renew the MAC binding, so your modem can provide connectivity to the router. If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our toll-free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.
