As Turtle Beach regularly releases new gaming headsets, it can feel as though new models are only being made as a cash-grab.  But, after using many headsets over the years (within different console generations), I can honestly say that the company is truly improving the headset features.  The Elite Pro 2 has a strong build quality, excellent sounding audio (with appropriately powerful bass), impressive comfort that holds up through 4+ hours of gaming (even while wearing glasses), and convenient customization options – both to the look of the headset and to the audio. While this set is very good, it bothers me that the Elite Pro 2 is not wireless.  For those who currently use Bluetooth Headphones, or wireless earbuds; moving back to a headset with a cable is quite annoying.  The mute switch on the cable can be difficult to locate during gameplay, and the SuperAmp needs to sit within reach as it contains the only volume control (except for the app).  If you’re a PC gamer the SuperAmp will probably be within reach, but for Playstation gamers, it probably will not be within reach if you are playing on the couch, or armchair. …What is odd here is that the SuperAmp appears to act less as an actual amplifier and more as a way to add Bluetooth functionality.  But, Bluetooth is meant to be wireless!  In this circumstance, the headset must be physically attached to the SuperAmp (in order to receive a Bluetooth signal (from your phone, etc)) – And, the SuperAmp must also be physically connected to a power source to function (and to pass along game audio).  Perhaps creating the SuperAmp was just a cheaper way to incorporate Bluetooth without having to cram batteries into the headset itself.  In the Elite Pro 2 package, I am more impressed with the headset than I am with the SuperAmp. As you are certainly aware, the Elite Pro 2 is expensive.  If you want to save good money, the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas ($99.99) is the same headset, but without the SuperAmp.  You lose Bluetooth functionality, but you have the same 50mm Nanoclear Speakers, the same headband, nearly identical removable ear-cups with the ProSpecs Glasses Relief System (but without the cooling gel), same magnetic customizable speaker plates, etc.  It is compatible with Playstation, Switch, Xbox, & PC. The Elite Pro 2 is perfect for those who have money to spend and who don’t mind the cord.  The comfort truly is great. Turtle Beach's Elite Pro 2 headset offers so much in the way of functionality that there simply is not enough time to write about all this headset has to offer. From everything down to sound and voice controls all the way up to lighting and EQ set up, this headset is sure to please most gamers out there. For the purposes of this review i will try to focus on some of the more important functions and please note this headset was tested on the PS4 platform. First off i want to talk about design and what you can expect to receive out of the box. This unit was packaged like a high end designer jewelry box almost. I felt almost like i should of been honored to receive this unit. Out of the box your going to receive the headset, boom mic, super amp, optical cable, micro usb cable and 3.5mm cable. Cable length is good, allowing you to sit well beyond the length of your gaming console. My only real complaint is the amount of cords needed to run this set up. If you game from a gaming monitor and desk then the cords really don't pose any issues in the form of it getting in your way. However i initially tested this on my ps4 while hooked up to my 47" t.v. i hated having the wires all sprawled out on the floor. It may not bother you but it bothered me because i like to keep my battle area clean. Moving on to design and comfort. These are hands down the most comfortable and thickest cushion headset i have ever owned or tested. The comfort level was definitely top tier and a really nice feature that Turtle Beach implemented that i am a fan of is the ability to adjust your ear cups for people that wear glasses. You can see from the uploaded picture that the ear cups are removable. Once removed on the back side of the ear cups there is a cloth tab that you can pull and set in to place for people that wear glasses. What this does is it creates an indentation in the headset which allows your glasses to sit perfectly in without creating pressure points. The reason i like this feature alot is because i chose to game on a 27" gaming monitor and end up sitting real close to the screen. I wear blue light filter glasses so the comfort level while wearing headsets usually drops. Oh and one other thing to note, the ear cups have a really nice cooling property to their design which means you never get hot or sweaty while wearing them. Now lets really get in to the main reason for buying this headset which is sound and voice chat quality along with its functionality controls. The first thing that really stood out to me was the super amp and its functions. The main function of the super amp is to serve as the main gate way for your audio controls and bluetooth functions. The super amp lights up around the unit as you turn the dial to indicate volume level. Lighting control can be adjusted through the free Turtle Beach app which allows you to chose if the lighting stays on, increases as in game volume increases or you can put it in stealth mode which turns off all the lights. The super amp also has an audio output for streaming purposes. Now do you need the super amp to use these headsets? Absolutely not. The headset acts as a normal headset via the 3.5 mm cable meaning you can plug this directly to your ps4 controller or you can hook it up to your phone and listen to music. Now with that being said one thing i will say is there is a significant drop in audio quality and clarity if you chose to go this route. This headset truly shines while using the super amp. Lets talk about some of the things you can do through the app. You can chose and make your color design for the Turtle Beach logo when it lights up. You can design your own EQ pre sets for your gaming desire. Now this is a really nice and cool feature to have and i'll explain why. Let's say your playing a shooter like The Division and you want that heavy bass drop so you can feel every bullet and explosion in the game. Simply set up your EQ adjustments to get them where you want them then after you can save them and label them 'Shooter' or whatever you like. This is a nice feature to have as you can set, adjust and save different features in order to swap them out based on the game you are playing i.e. shooter, rpg, side scroller, etc. You can also adjust your game and chat ratio so you can chose to receive more chat audio than game audio or vice versa. There's alot you can do through the app so i just wanted to talk about a couple that stood out. Another key area that really got me was the ability to stream music directly in your headset off your phone and be able to control the sound balance of your music, in game sound and chat volume. This means when im in a party and we are grinding away for loot i can stream music to help pass the time all without taking away from the game sound or chat audio from team mates. I can control how much music, game volume and chat volume that i want to come in to make sure that they don't all come in at the same volume and drown each other out. Now if all you care about is in game sound quality then this headset will not leave you disappointed. With a 7.1 Dolby surround sound set up you are going to be able to hear sounds that you may have never heard before. I could hear metal creaking as construction equipment was swaying off in the distance. Not only was i able to pick up on the sound but i was able to even tell which direction it was coming from and roughly how far away it was all without having to look at a map. This headset does an awesome job at displacing sound quality that it makes immersion all that much more real. The bass drops are deep and clean but never too loud to take away from other sounds. Voice clarity is crisp and clean allowing me to hear perfectly all in game AI chat and audio chat with my team mates perfectly. Here's the bottom line. There are enough functions to please just about everybody out there. The sound quality is so crisp and clean that you are going to feel as if you are in the game. The Dolby surround sound means that you will have the upper hand as you will be able to hear enemies off in the distance and be able to tell just how far away they are before they even notice you. The chat controls are perfect allowing you to control your chat output to your teammates as well as the chat audio coming in to your headset. The app also provides an option to turn on a gateway for your mic blocking all outside noises from bleeding in to your group chat. All in all guys this is well worth the money in my opinion. The only complaint i have with this unit is the amount of cords it runs. But in retrospect this is a very small complaint with many more benefits. This is hands down my favorite and new go to headset for gaming and streaming. I find it hard to believe that this headset would disappoint anyone. Do yourself a favor and pick a head set up to see what its like to wear an elite head set.

I've been using the Sony Gold headset for some time now and, while decent, definitely wanted to update and check out some newer models out there. I play FPS mostly and, more recently, RDR2. Fit - Overall fit of this headset is quite good. I have a larger sized head so, generally, most headsets don't fit quite that well. These fit snugly, but comfortably, on my head. I do feel a bit of a pinch at the top of my head however nothing too bad. The ear cushions are quite soft and comfy and they haven't felt heavy or cumbersome even after doing my all my weeklies in Destiny 2. Sound - Typical Turtle Beach. I can hear just about everything while playing Destiny 2 from the footsteps of enemy combatants to water droplets splashing from rooftops. Sound is clear and crisp. I did tend to notice almost an echoing sound when cinematics played and NPC were talking. Kinda weird but it seems to come and go. Not sure what the issue is. I was quite impressed with the surround sound. Most of my headsets have been stereo or "surround" sound but not really. For example, when walking past a flaming car/building, you can easily tell which direction the object is as you walk past/around/near. Quite nice and pretty cool actually. Wires - My Sony headset was wireless so it's really convenient and a simple flick of a switch, the headset is up and running. With these being wired, it's a little bit more cumbersome and depending on how your setup, the wires can be a bit of a pain. If you're using this with a PC then it shouldn't be too much an issue since you can hide the wires. Having this setup with my PS4, when using the SuperAmp controller, I have a USB cable lying on my floor while using this. Not the greatest thing but it is what it is. SuperAmp - While this seems like a cool gadget, I don't really see the benefit of this device. It's a volume knob with a couple inputs in it....that's it. It lights up and all but it's just a volume knob. Would've been nice if the mic mute button was on the amp however it's located inline on the headset cable. Setup - You can have this setup using just the 3.5mm cable plugged directly into your PS4 controller. Works just fine however volume needs to be adjusted via the controller menu as there are no volume knobs/sliders on the headset itself. With the SuperAmp/optical cable hooked up, it's a mess of wires however it does seem to work well and the sound it quite nice. The headset is bluetooth so you can also use it if you're making conference calls or something like that. Overall, this works great for PC/PS4. If you're a stickler for that clean look then you'd be better off hooking this up to your PC. While I'm still on the fence about the SuperAmp, it seems cool but not really for me. Sound quality is great regardless of what type of games you play. Surround sound is pretty nice.

The Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 is a great headset for gamers. I haven't found a headset that I consider perfect, yet, and the Elite Pro 2 doesn't change that. The short and sweet is that it has really good audio clarity and quality, but a fit that I found to be less comfortable than a cheaper headset, a bluetooth function that works a little, and while the SuperAmp is a pretty cool feature, I find it somewhat limited in use and question it's necessity. The Elite Pro 2 makes a great first impression when opening the box, with premium feeling packaging. Pulling the headset from the box, it doesn't feel like opening a cheap set of headphones - Turtle Beach definitely sells you on having something different. And when you pull the SuperAmp out, it feels like you have something special. My only complaint with the fit and finish is the ear cap covers: the plastic for them is magnetic and swappable, but it's thin and feels cheaper than anything else in the box. You can even see the supporting ribs for the molding through the plastic. Fit wise the Elite Pro 2 offers a range of adjustments. The headband has thick padding to keep the solid, aluminum bar from resting directly on your head, the ear cups are padded really well with a foam wrapped in some sort of leather look-a-like, the ear cups rotate to get them just right, and the headband extends quite a bit. These should fit most head shapes and sizes. That all said, they are pretty heavy. I also found them a bit tighter around my jaw than my HyperX Cloud IIs, and after a while they become a bit uncomfortable and require me to adjust them periodically, but I don't know that everyone will have this problem. One of the really cool features of these is the eye glass relief system. Each ear cup pad is held on by magnets, so it removes really easily - a nice update from the old Elite Pro - and on the back of each pad is a little post with a plastic tab connected to it. By lifting the plastic tab off the post and pulling, you can pull the pad in to the housing a desired amount to create a relief area for your glasses if you wear them, making these more comfortable for gamers who wear eye glasses. It's a really easy process and works well. Setup, is fairly straightforward with the quickstart manual, but I did find some information missing in some steps, specifically related to the app. One thing you should do before setting these up is download the Turtle Beach app for your phone/tablet. This is only way to change the mode from PS4 mode to PC mode, and it's also how you can adjust the LED color for the middle of the SuperAmp, as well as modify a few other settings. Having the app will help you follow the steps for connecting to your PS4 or PC, since some of the steps require the app. Once you follow the steps outlined, these sound great. The SuperAmp controls your volume via the large silver wheel on it, and it feels solid in use, with just enough resistance when adjusting. There is a mute button inline on the cord that connects the headset to the SuperAmp. Keep in mind this is a wired headset, because the SuperAmp connects via an included 10' optical audio cable to the back of your PS4. It's also powered, so there is an additional 10' USB cable to plug in for power. You can connect directly to a controller from the headset, but you lose the SuperAmp sound quality and ability to control the volume from the SuperAmp. I did find a difference in audio quality when plugged into the remote, but it still sounded good. The tradeoff for superior sound is long, strewn out cables. They drive me a bit nuts, but that's the nature of these. The SuperAmp supports bluetooth connections for simultaneous playback, so you can listen to music or other audio sources while listening to in-game audio. I found connecting to it to be pretty straight forward: there is a button on the side of the SuperAmp that you hold down to enable pairing mode, and then you just scan and connect your device. Audio playback is stereo only, but it sounds clear and is a nice touch, when it works. Staying connected seemed to be a bit of a challenge for it. Because this is one of the big reasons for the SuperAmp, it really becomes more of a fancy volume knob than necessary addition. Once fully set up and fitted these things sound really good. Right out of the box the in-game audio is very clear, and there is a good sense of direction from the sound. You can make some adjustment through the app, but I found that it worked really well for me from the start. The surround sound feature of these definitely enhances the experience when compared to stereo headsets, give you a more immersed experience, especially in FPS, when you can pick out the direction of footsteps. In a test of NHL 19, the surround sound wasn't as huge an advantage, but the separation between players and crowd noises was noticeable. I've even used these for listening to music, and they offer really solid, full-bodied sound, with good, clean mids and solid lows. Compared to my other headset, the audio quality on these is superb, and I have found myself using them more often than my other set for console gaming despite their flaws. Turtle Beach has done a great job tuning the sound for these, and because of that some of the issues can be overlooked. The microphone provides flexible positioning, thanks to the adjustable boom that connects to the left ear cup. Speech and recording through the mic was pretty clear, without very having that muffled, talking-through-a-sheet sound, and besting other mics that I have used. In terms of issues, I've encountered various flaws during use so far, and some of them are more impacting than others. The first issue is with the bluetooth. I mentioned that it seems to have trouble staying connected, and I found that my phone and my laptop would stop playback with regularity. The only solution when it happened was to disconnect and reconnect the device. The weird thing is it always seems to still be connected when it happens, but playback doesn't work. Nevertheless, it has made it very difficult for me to recommend the bluetooth connectivity feature of these, and I have stopped using it. Another issue for me is with the fitment. These have comfortable padding, but I find the foam around my ears starts getting warm after 20 minutes or so, which makes them a little uncomfortable. Coupled with the pinch strength around my jaw, I find I have to adjust these frequently to keep them ideal. I still like using them due to the audio quality, but I come away with sweaty ears after playing for longer than 30 minutes, a problem my other headset doesn't have. I ran into some other challenges specifically around the SuperAmp and the Turtle Beach app, where settings will sometimes not take, and I have to toggle a setting back and forth a second time for it to apply. I also had some occasional issues modifying the LED on the SuperAmp, but since I got it set to something different than the default, I have decided to leave it. That aside, the ability to change the color of the LED to almost anything is a really cool way to personalize these. Speaking of the LED, it turns red when you mute the mic. It also turns red if you disconnect the mic. I don't play with my mic as often as I play without it, so this is a bit annoying, because I would like to remove the mic when playing an offline game, but still have my LED color showing. I'd love to see a firmware update address this and allow it to only change to the LED to red when the mic is attached and muted. Another thing I found frustrating was the fact that these require a separate app on your computer to update the firmware. It would be most convenient for the mobile app to support updating them, but that isn't how it works. And the desktop app is just for updating their firmware; you cannot control the SuperAmp settings from it. The two different apps make the process of updating the headphones seem a bit disjointed. The final thing worth mentioning is the ability to block ambient sound. My pair of Kingston HyperX Cloud IIs, while not as full featured or fancy as these, fit lighter on the head, and they block ambient noise out better. When gaming in my office, I can hear my server fan, a slight hum from my ceiling fan, and the AC return vent when the AC kicks on. With my HyperX Cloud IIs those sounds are not noticeable. It might seem minor, but it becomes really annoying during silent parts of games or videos, because those noises leak in. I love the audio quality on these, and in spite of the flaws I now use them for my PS4 and XBO, and use my Cloud IIs for PC gaming. These improve over the old Elite Pro in many ways, and miss the boat in several others, some of which might be fixable via firmware. I'd still recommend trying these out if you're looking for a great sounding gaming headset, since they might be one of the top options out there. Just be aware of the shortcomings.

One of the best headsets ever may and I'm been through a lot of headsets best out there

I've been looking for a great pair of PS4 cans and as a result, I have several pairs. A cheap pair that just plugs into the 3.5mm Audio Jack on the controller and another pair that has 7.1 audio. The 7.1 audio pair have been my go-to, but they just aren't very comfy for more than 45 min of play, as my ears start getting hot and sweaty. Also, for some reason, they summon static electricity (pops/crackles) into my ear if I get up or sit down while using them. Then, I ran across these new Turtle Beach headphones. I've seen and heard of them in the past, but have never used them and wanted to give them a try. When I received them, I was super impressed by the box and packaging. There's the black inner box this is covered by a cardboard slipcover that shows the headset and all the features. Unboxing was a joy and really makes you feel like like you've gotten bang for your buck. It's also pretty hefty. Included, you get the headphones (duh!), the removable microphone, the SuperAmp audio controller, a headset audio cable, USB power cable and an optical audio cable (for original/launch PS4 and PS4 Pro use). All in all, the cables are of a very generous length and I didn't really have any issues in that department. However, I generally sit about 6'-7' away from my TV. The first thing you want to do before anything is update the firmware. I downloaded the Turtle Beach program on my PC, hooked them up and it automatically applied the latest firmware version, which has fixes to volume levels and such. Please, please, make sure you do this before you do anything else. Hookup was a breeze - on paper and in looking at the manual, it looks really complicated. For the PS4 pro, you run the USB Power Cable and the "optional" Optical Cable (more on this later) from the back of the SuperAmp into your PS4, then the Headset Audio Cable from the front of the SuperAmp into your headset. Then just attach the mic. That's it. However, this is a software setup step, as well. If you are using the Optical cable, you will need to go into your PS4 Audio settings and change the Primary Output Port to Digital Out (Optical) and the Audio Format (Priority) to Bitstream (Dolby). Also, make sure you select only the Dolby Digital 5.1ch setting. You then need to go to your audio settings and set the "Output to Headphones" option to "Chat Audio". If you aren't using the Optical Audio Cable, you would just choose "All Audio" (or the equivalent of). Again, all of this sounds complicated, but in practice, only takes a few seconds. The audio quality of these headphones are fantastic! However, I've noticed a common factor between multiple PS4-specific headphones I've tried, which is an overall low audio volume. I do have a slight hearing impairment and so far, I've been able to hear most games great. Please note that in most cases, you will have the volume dial at max for a "comfortable" volume level on most games. However, a few games I've actually had to turn down. I've tested these cans on several games, including The Division 2 (the game's audio itself is lower than most games, so I had to max the volume dial), Sekiro (AMAZING audio...actually had to lower the volume to a comfortable level) and Fortnite (Great audio, kept it a few notches below max). If I had any complaint with these headphones at all, it would be the sheer number of cables involved. I was really unhappy at first because I have enough cables to deal with between my PS4 controller charging cable and my PS4 VR cables. With the USB Power Cable, Optical Audio Cable and the Headset cable itself, there are wires EVERYWHERE! I finally decided to nix the Optical cable for the sake of simplicity. I'm happy to say that there is ZERO impact to the quality or volume of the audio. The only difference this makes is without, you lose some functionality of the iOS/Android Audio Hub app (I used it on my iPhone XS Max), primarily the ability to control Independent Game + Chat Volume. However, I've not had any issues and it seems to still work for me... There are so much more details that I would love to go into in regards to setup and configuration, but my review space is starting to get limited (really wish they would allow for longer review and being able to post more than 2 pics...), so I'm gonna start wrapping up. If you are using a PS4 with a dedicated sound system (receiver/sound bar), you may wish to opt to NOT use the Optical Audio cable, as this severely complicates the setup and having to switch between HDMI and Optical every time you want to use the headphones. However, if you don't really have a dedicated sound system, then absolutely use the Optical cable and just keep your settings static. I also wanted to add that when connected to the Audio Hub app via Bluetooth and using the headphones, the sound comes from my phone and into my headphones! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this unexpected detail! In conclusion - I'm going to give this headset two reviews: 4/5 Stars - If you plan on using the Optical cable - this is due to the further setup complications and annoyances, in addition to the over-abundance of cables involved. 5/5 Stars - If you do NOT plan on using the Optical cable (my personal suggestion for those who have a dedicated audio system). This makes them simply "plug and play" and easily removable to put up, etc. Bonus tip: When setting up and not using the mic for chat, make sure to go into the Audio Hub app on your phone and set your Game/Chat slider all the way to Game (to the left) to make the headphones louder. By default, this is set halfway, which results in lower overall volume.

The Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 is a great gaming headset that is great for music also. They use 50mm drivers that pump out the sound. I really liked the bass and midtones. They have a superhuman setting for gaming so you can even hear the background whispers and steps so you dont miss a thing! The gel cushions are very comfortable, you can wear them for hours and not get that uncomfortable feeling you get from other headsets. These headsets have what Turtle beach refers to as ProSpec technology to allow adjustments for eyeglasses for comfort and seal to prevent sound leak. You pull the magnetic cushion off and adjust a band that makes the channel size change. The Superamp works great that is if you hook it up correctly. If you plug your pc into the wrong jack like I did the output will be very low and the Superamp dial will not work and the turtle beach logo will be red. Just FYI plug it into the front Jack on the amp not the back then everything will work great. For the PS4 you use the optical input for sound and USB for power. For the Slim model using the Usb for power and sound. The Smartphone app allows you to set your profile and the various options for the headphones. You will need it to switch the headphones from PS4 to PC mode and to update the firmware. Speaking of updating, you will need to download the Turtle beach PC software, plug the headphones into a PC or Mac. The software will automatically detect and update your headphones if needed. I had no problem with the update. Overall these headsets have great sound and comfort. I have wireless headphones as well while they sound good, I feel the wired headsets always give superior sound without any cutouts. I wish Turtle beach allowed Bluetooth to the AMP for PC and PS4 gaming, it has Bluetooth already and can connect to your phone or tablet this way I am not clear why that would not work with the PC or a gaming system. Maybe they could not get the bandwidth they wanted?? I also would like to see a native PC and PS4 app for the settings.

---SETUP--- The setup of this headset is not complicated but it is not immediately obvious out of the box. All necessary cables are included, though. You must connect an optical audio cable to your PS4 and the Elite Super AMP (ESAMP), a Mini-USB cable to the ESAMP and the PS4, and an auxiliary cable from the headset to the ESAMP. Starting to sound complicated? It isn’t, but expect clutter. When you’re done with that, you must download the Turtle Beach Audio Hub app (iOS and Android) and pair your mobile device to the ESAMP via bluetooth. This will allow you to customize your headset with your phone through the ESAMP. To successfully use the ESAMP with the PS4, follow directions in the screenshot provided (found in the user manual). ---FEATURES--- The key feature of this headset is that it is customizable via the Turtle Beach Audio Hub app (iOS and Android). Another neat feature is that this headset is made with gamers who wear glasses in mind. I thought that meant extra comfy cushioning, but it is actually a thread that you can pull that will create a crevice for the feet of the glasses to fit through and not have as much pressure. This is a wired headset, but the wire doesn’t go connected to the controller, it goes connected to the ESAMP. Since your phone pairs up via bluetooth to the ESAMP, an interesting feature is that audio from your phone will be sent wirelessly to the headset when connected to the ESAMP. When I discovered this, it meant that I could hear my text message notifications via the headset when gaming, music that I play from my phone, and anything else that makes a noise from your mobile device. Also, the ESAMP solves a problem that streamers have with a PS4, which is that when you connect most headsets to the PS4 controller, the game audio is no longer captured by products like ELGATO because the PS4 can’t send the same audio source to two different locations. The ESAMP allows for that to happen, so if you are a streamer having this issue, this here is one solution for you. ---PERFORMANCE--- The performance of this headset is great. Using the ESAMP, you can turn the silver know to raise or lower the volume. Using the app on the phone, you can customize sound that you hear from your headset. The current default options are: First Person Shooter, Battle Royale, Racing, Streamer, and Indie. Aside from that, you can choose from preset sounds like: Signature Sound, Bass Boost, Bass + Treble Boost, and Vocal Boost. Making any change is confirmed by an audible sound on your headset. There are many options to fully customize your sound, from giving yourself a chat boost, provide a more balanced mix of game vs. chat audio, activate superhuman hearing, enable or disable mic monitoring to various degrees, and adjust the light pattern and color in the ESAMP. ---EXPECTATIONS--- The product does not my expectations. Don’t get me wrong, the audio is phenomenal. However, it’s the little inconveniences that together, form too much of a hassle to be satisfied with the product. First of all, the ESAMP will have to be close to you for you to be able to control the volume of the headset. Since the ESAMP needs to have 2 cables connected to the PS4 (optical and USB), if you play on the couch in a living room where there is lots of traffic (kids, spouse), they will inevitably step on the cables and either pull your PS4 in a manner you won’t like or unplug your cables during your gameplay. Even if your family doesn’t trip on the cables, it does mean more maintenance in terms of putting the cables away when not in use. Additionally, there is another cable that extends from the ESAMP to your headset in order for it to work. Nothing will connect to your PS4 controller, but having that auxiliary cable connected to the ESAMP is another cable to worry about getting in the way. Another inconvenience is that the headset cannot control any volume. Instead, you must reach for wherever you placed the ESAMP, which if its on the floor, that means bending down. To make changes on to the sound presets, you must resort to a third device, your mobile phone. The only thing that your headset can do is mute your mic. Speaking of which, the mic can’t be put away unless disconnected from the headset. It is a long stick that, though it is movable, it is limited in mobility. Lastly, if you are a multi-console owner, this only works with PS4 and PC. ---VALUE--- The price for the Turtle Beach Headset in terms of value is a bit high considering that this is not a wireless headset and it is limited to the PS4 and the PC. Other headsets that I own (one from Turtle Beach itself) work with my Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC all at once and wirelessly. ---APPROVAL--- I highly recommend this product for people who only have a PS4 or PC and that will be there main headset of choice for those platforms. I also recommend this for PS4 streamers who lose audio when using an ELGATO. If you don’t fall in the categories above, then these are not what you are looking for.

This headset blows the competition out of the water. I was playing my favorite FPS battlefield field 1, and it feels like you’re there. This is when you’re fully connected with the wired setup having the amplifier connected also through optical Audio. That is the full potential to enjoying your gaming experience. Setup instructions are fully detailed and explained to get you up and running. Now, I understand this is wired and not wireless, and you can still use the 3.5 mm jack and included cord to directly connect to your controller (which I did try but, it doesn’t sound the same), but that setup doesn’t allow the amplifier to go in between the headset and the PS4 controller. Not that I have found a method yet. My current setup is my 50” 4K TV on a filing cabinet desk, and the PS4 on a shelf to a computer desk right next to the tv, with the amplifier connected Alison on that shelf, and audio cable running from that to my headset, and I sit about 4 feet. The 3.5mm cable included is long enough and decent. Just have to be careful for moving around and to be sure that your out of the way of the audio cable, otherwise tug on it by accident your amplifier may fall along with it and, god forbid the PS4. But I’m careful. This is probably more suitable and tailored if you game on a desktop with a HD or 4K monitor, and the console OR your high end gaming PC, and sit within reasonable close range. I just might convert later on in the future. The headset is comfortable but compared to the other headsets I have, it’s a bit slightly heavy. I like how the EarPads are magnets and removable. You can adjust these to work well if you wear glasses (which I do). Overall Turtle beach, I see as a brand that will be recognized for premium gaming Audio headsets to enhance your gaming experience ultimately.

Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 + SuperAmp for PS4 Pro & PS4. Adding a comfortable, amplified, surround headphone set for gaming raises the entire experience to the next level. The Elite Pro 2 offers players of multiplayer shooter games a uniquely focused, well made, set of headphones. They offer specialized features to help you gain an advantage. SETUP: Plug in the medium length headphone cable into the SuperAmp Audio Controller (small puck), and then the puck has a very long cable to connect to PC/PS4. For a PC, you’re adding a cable/puck to your setup. For the PS4 this means your PS4 controller is no longer wireless, having added this long cable across your living room, with the puck about a third of the way to the TV. Because the volume control is on the puck, fiddling with the volume easily may be a stretch, literally. A normal, non-powered set of headphones can be plugged straight into your PS4 controller so it's a bit of a step backwards here. It requires no particular setup from your PC or PS4. Plug it in to USB and you're ready to go. My PS4 does not have the optical output option, so I didn't get to try that. Controlling settings requires installing an app on your iphone (iphone/android). I tested with an Android (Sony Xperia Compact). Everything works once you bluetooth pair, but it drops bluetooth a lot. You can rely on it to connect, change a setting or two, and then your time's up. Reconnecting is easy but annoying to have to keep doing. The app lets you tweak settings like your audio equalizer, and do tricks like boost chat with your teammates over the game sound (or kill chat if you don't like people). You must connect with your phone to tweak everything (Example: built in modes like Game, Movie, Music, Stereo), but it’s cumbersome. PERFORMANCE: The puck feels nice, the dial feels well-made and heavy and has a bunch of customizable LEDs if you like shiny things and bright lights. The large around-the-ear cups are reasonably comfortable for average-sized heads set to the largest option. Larger heads could feel tight. The headphones have built-in spacing in the earpads for glasses. (The interior of the pad has a little gap under the covers, so your glasses don't get smooshed against your head.) Voices and small sounds come through clearly. Sound effects and explosions have good weight when the volume is loud enough. (Tested with the end battle scene of Rogue One, bits of end fight of Deadpool). Unfortunately it sounds like everything is being run through a DSP that's set to 'Stadium'. There's an odd 'big and echo-y' effect even when there's a scene with two people talking quietly in a small room. I couldn't see any way to change that from the settings. While playing games that are about running around and shooting things, I was no longer aware of the echoes. In fact, in the right games, they present an accurate reflection of the scene. Experimenting on my PC, I plugged the headphones straight into my Fiio headphone amp instead of the provided puck. It cleaned up the weird DSP echo effect immediately, but I suspect it also means I don't get surround sound inside my headphones. SUMMARY: The main tricks the Elite Pro 2 headphones from Turtle Beach can do are (1) boost the audio of people talking over the game, so that in noisy battles with explosions you can still hear your teammates, and (2) you can have them boost quiet sounds, so if you're sneaking around, you'll hear enemies more easily. I think it’s fair to say they are tailored to a niche market of multiplayer Gamers, which they serve quite well, if you’re OK with a few ergonomic quirks. The fit, feel and thoughtful design add to the positive impression.

Upon receiving this headset and unboxing it I was pleasantly surprised at the craftsmanship and quality. I am quite a bit of a audiophile. I love sound quality. These definitely don't disappoint. The crisp clear highs and the deep pounding bass in such a small package was pretty amazing. I am a big FPS fan so surround sound is a must. With these having the capability of literally hearing footsteps around you and knowing where and what direction as if you're in the game and can almost feel their footsteps around you is awesome. The thick soft cushioning on the ear surrounds as well as the band that goes across the top of your head makes hours of gaming both comfortable and enjoying. Turtle Beach lives up to their reputation with these once again. I can't think of one negative thing to this headset. Personal preference I like to have an internal microphone which is about the only thing I would change but the Microphone it does use picks up every word and sound. My friends complimented me on how much better this one sounded in comparison to mine and other peoples mics in the game. Would highly recommend this to others

The design of this headset is sharp and carries an elegance that needs to be appreciated when resting on a headset hook or on a table. The suspended head pad rests comfortably on top of your head and doesn’t ‘dig’ and create discomfort after several hours of gaming. In the past, I used to doubt the significance of suspended headband but I’ve learned that it makes all of the difference when it comes to comfort. It’s something that a gamer has to experience in order to appreciate. The ear cushions are a very comfortable memory foam design that cup your ears, nearly blocking out the normal sounds that might surround your while gaming. And like the head pad, the earcups remain comfortable after hours of use and there are no sweating/hot ears from prolonged use that sometimes comes with other headsets. Some gamers wear glasses whether they are prescription or gaming glasses. In either case, most headsets create a pinching discomfort after a couple of hours because the earcups are pressing against the arms of the glasses. Within the easily removable earcups is ProSpecs Glasses Relief System. It’s a small strap that you can adjust that creates a ‘crevice’, relieving any pressure that might come from the earcups pressing against the arms of your glasses. I wear gaming glasses and so far, I have yet to feel that discomfort that I typically would experience after a few hours with my other headset. Let me talk about the sound which is the whole purpose of this headset. There are a lot of options when it comes to customization for personal sound preferences with the Elite Pro 2 but even right out of the box, the Elite Pro 2 is ready to be used and delivers a symphony of sound immersion for the player. There are three ways to set up this headset to your PS4. If you have a PS4 Pro, you can use the optical cable (included) and the USB power that connects to the SuperAmp device, if you’re playing on a standard PS4, then you will be plugging the SuperAmp through the USB only and finally, you could just simply plug the headset directly into the PS4 controller minus the SuperAmp device. However, it’s the SuperAmp that ‘brings the noise’ for the gamer. It’s a powerful amp that has many options for you if you download the free Turtle Beach sound app. The app and the SuperAmp connect via Bluetooth and from there you have the options of increasing the Treble, the Bass, or both if you desire. It’s all about finding the perfect balance of sound for what you are playing. There are preset sound settings that are built around the different type of games and will pacify most gamers. Turn on the Super Hearing option and you will immediately hear the difference. Through the app, you can even customize the color display and brightness of the SuperAmp. It’s the little touches like this that make the Elite Pro 2 special. Do you like streaming your games? This headset even has options to increase your voice during your gameplay so that your audience hears you clearly without the worry of being drowned out by the loud sounds that can accompany a game like Apex Legends or The Division 2. I was really impressed by how much clearer I sounded during my live streams. My previous headset made me sound like I was Darth Vader having a panic attack through my mic despite me not being a heavy breather. The Elite Pro 2 doesn’t amplify unwanted noise. It picks up my voice clearly and delivers it to my teammates and stream viewers. In fact, through the app, there are options to prioritize your voice during stream sessions. Now I don’t have to be so self-conscious during my broadcasts. The Elite Pro 2 also has mic monitoring which allows you to speak at a normal level because the headset subtlety allows you to hear your voice when playing. With my previous gaming headset, I had to keep on earcup slightly off an ear so that I wasn’t shouting when talking to friends in a match or in party chat. I should also mention that noises (texts or phone calls) aren’t heard to your viewers or chat group when your device is connected to the SuperAmp. Whether you are a casual gamer that kicks back at the end of the day to unwind or if you’re a streamer that is building an audience and wants the best audio for them and yourself, The Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 with SuperAmp is comfortable, its attractive, and it delivers the sound that you didn’t know you were missing.

I really like this headset/amp combo. You can connect it to a PS4 or a PC. I currently have it with my PS4 Pro. It comes with decent length optical, usb and headset cables. I seat about 7 feet from my PS4 and I still have cable slack. Some people may prefer a wireless solution, but having cables you have a pure digital connection. No wireless hiss or interference. The sound is outstanding and the surround sound is effective, as it gets it from the optical digital output from the PS4, you have to select dolby digital bitstream. The headset can be connected to your phone via their app. There you can tune the headset to your preference. Has many presets and you can customize them, oh, and it allows you to get calls and media from your phone directly to the headset via Bluetooth!! No more taking the headset off for calls! The app may alert you of a new firmware update, which I recommend keep up to date, oh and it can only be updated on a PC with their windows app. Just make sure you plug it in while holding the Bluetooth pairing button for it to update it. The surround sound is great and doesn't sound fake (at least with their signature sound profile). I can pin point sounds spatially and doesn't sound like a reverberating theater. I tried their super human hearing, supposedly helps you pin point steps and gun shots better, but I found it was too fake. The regular surround just worked great. They were very comfy and have a special grove for glasses wearing people, great! One tip and one caveat: Make sure you push hard all the way in the mic! I thought it was in but wasn't getting any voice picked up, I had to push it all the way in hard! Only caveat is I wish the amp had more functions, rather than just volume. Like their tactical amp they have. Maybe add more controls on it like treble, bass, chat mix etc. All has to be done via their phone app. Apart from that, the only other control is mic mute via a switch on the headset cable. Also, you will get sound from the PS4 to your tv, at the same time to you headset. This is not the headsets fault, as the PS4 is designed to output sound from any cables available (the hdmi going to your tv). It can be solved by muting the tv (if there isn't a persistent mute icon, or as in my case, lowering the volume on the tv all the way down). Other than this, its a great headset!!

I was looking for a headset to use with my PS4 Pro. I don't game competitively, but I just wanted something to use late at night when everyone was asleep. I decided to give the Turtle Beach - Elite Pro 2 Wired Gaming Headset a try. There are so many headsets to choose from at almost every price point, but I will tell you why I think this is the one to get. Upon first opening the box I could tell this was going to be great product. The packaging, and the build quality of everything was absolutely top notch. It is also the most comfortable headset I have used by far. Setup was not too difficult, but required me to run a long optical and USB cable from the PS4 Pro to the SuperAmp. If you are looking for a wire free setup this may not be the right headset for you. Once this was done I was able to download the Turtle Beach Audio Hub App so I could adjust the sound profile, and the chat/volume balance. Now for the most important part...the sound. Lets just say I was blown away. It wasn't necessarily the volume it provides (although there was plenty of that), but the sound QUALITY. Gaming sounds FANTASTIC through these. All of the smallest details can be heard with a very realistic quality to the sound. All I can say is that I am super impressed. When I first decided to pick these up I just wanted something for late at night when everyone was asleep. Now I use them almost all the time because of the quality of the sound, and the comfort they provide. If you are in the market for a GREAT gaming headset these absolutely deserve your consideration. Highly recommended.

This headset is the best one I have ever owned. Yes it has cords, and yes there are wires - but you will ALWAYS have the best sound. Zero chance of an interruption from the microwave, or a battery dies and you’re suddenly stuck without sound. Plus, the fit! The headphones fit perfectly around your ears and deliver such a high quality of sound. It actually sounds realistic for the most part and makes you feel like you’re in the game. The app is great also, and lets you change settings quickly while gaming.

I enjoy the great sound and the build quality. I can play for hours because of the comfort I would highly recommend this headset for gamer of all ages. I have had this headset for 2 years and it still works as when I first started using. I have many headset turtle beach tops them all. This headset is a must buy.

Turtle Beach has been my go to headset for gaming for many years now, though this is my first set for PS4 Pro. I think this headset has many great features right off the bat, however, I think what stands out most for me is the comfort of the headset. It is larger in size but has great build quality and feels solid with the metal head band and some decent weight to it (not a negative though). Adjustment is also simplistic and easy to accommodate larger heads. I can wear this headset for a solid gaming session (4+ hours for me) without any real irritation or soreness around my ears. The ears cups are very soft yet rigid with memory foam and reduce ambient outside noise fairly well without any noise cancelling functionality. The microphone has good positioning while having a fair amount of flexibility to adjust to your desired position and my online friends have commented on the clearer sounding quality of my voice over the standard PS4 headset/earpiece. Sound quality is pretty stellar, as I would expect from Turtle Beach (and this price point) the DTS Headphone: X surround sound gives players and experience of gaming that really changes the dynamic of game play. I enjoy the pin point sounds that I can immediately recognize which direction they are coming from and adjust my position as needed in games. Good sounding bass and the tuning options through the app allow for some significant customization. The Super Amp and Bluetooth functionality are added bonuses, where the volume control is solely located on the Amp itself to allow for easy volume adjustment. The app allows you to alter EQ settings as you like and then save those profiles for quick switching without the hassle (big points from me). I do not typically stream music while playing but I know quite a few people who do and that feature is something I think is quite common nowadays, however, being able to control the levels of chat, game audio and music audio is not quite as common and the Elite Pro 2 with Super Amp sets itself apart in this department. On to my main concern/disappointment: CABLES! As most other reviewers have pointed out this headset requires a USB connection and optionally (for quality sound) an optical cable. Granted, both cables came with the purchase and are of sizeable length, it just doesn’t work for me in my current gaming setup. I have to drag these across my office floor to my chair and the cables are a danger where my dogs might trip over them at some point so I am worried about it. I have a pair of Elite Pro’s for my Xbox One S that are wireless with 7.1 surround and they rock though they are nowhere near as comfortable as the Elite Pro 2 for PS4. All that being said, if you have a desk setup with your PS4 this headset will work great for you, if you have a living room/couch setup it might be difficult (but not impossible). Overall, I’m happy with the Elite Pro 2 and the options it gives me, I am just a little miffed with the cables and need to figure out my options for my current gaming setup but I think in the end it is worth it.

So far I would have to say this is one of best headsets I have owned. It feels really solid and you can tell its not just a cheap thrown together plastic headset. Sound quality is great and others I talk to through chat with said it is most clear my voice has ever sounded. This is great because I tend to talk very low. I will have to say I really wish you could adjust the chat to game audio ratio directly on the headset, but instead you have to download the app and adjust it on there. which would be fine but I feel like it doesn't change much. So if you have someone in your party that's loud you may have to tell them to be quite so can hear the game better. Overall I am happy with the purchase of it.

These are amazing and you can hear things in game that I didn’t know existed. My only qualm is that the wires aren’t quite as long as I’d like them to be. I intentionally got wired for better sound quality, and it doesn’t disappoint.
