Purchased the speaker because it’s waterproof and I had a trip to the river planned. Speaker volume isn’t the greatest but maybe the 360 sound made it sound better? Content up until I purchased a second to sync the two to play in the office. The speakers turn into a receiver for the first you connect through Bluetooth but the second speaker, the “receiver” can’t be more than 20 ft from the first. Definitely would expect this from a speaker that costs $169+. I wish I would have went with BOSE.

Sold off older boom and boom II speakers for the purpose of acquiring larger speaker for larger sound and primarily run time. I have been pulled down a lengthy support regime via logitech/ue to update firmware, commit full cycle, charge, let it sit unused for days to check battery capacity. Sitting alone, in the dark, fully charged, no one looking at it, this megaboom 3 can lose 20% over a weekend. Fully charged I'll get roughly 6 hours of play time (not 10, not the 20 advertised). I suspect along with UE community members, recent adjustments to firmware making remote power control permanent to be root of battery issues. Previous generation firmware/devices you were granted that option and battery run time was very good. Speaker could sit for days or weeks unused, and work on demand. This new one must be charged weekly. After completing all of the steps below I'll need to drive to a best buy store to obtain copy of receipt further delaying process of what I expect to be exchange of the unit and not a refund. *** Trouble shooting steps : 1. Reset the speaker to factory default. Turn on the speaker. Press and hold the Power Button and the Volume ( - ) minus button at the same time for at least 10 to 15 seconds until you hear an audible sound. Press the power button to turn on the speaker again. 2. Unpair and Pair the UE Megaboom 3. Go to the Bluetooth Settings on your phone. Click on forget or remove the UE Megaboom 3 speaker from the list of connected device. Turn on the speaker and hold down the Bluetooth button until you hear an audible sound Run a search and connect the UE MEgaboom 3 speaker again. 3. Update the speaker's software. Open the UE Megaboom 3 application from your phone. If you don't have, please download from the apps store. Go to More option and select Update Now. 4. Try charging it again for a few hours and observe the speaker. 5. Update firmware https://support.ultimateears.com/en/megaboom3/ 6. Try different USB cable. 7. Try different adopter. 8. Try charging it again for a few hours and observe the speaker. • Unit charged to 100% (after 2.5hrs approx.) • Disconnected power cable and check if unit is able to power on, pair to a phone and play music. • Leave unit to sat over 24-48 hours, powered on (the should keep nearly all of its charge) • Remind users to keep the charging USB port clean and dry before charging. =================================== Did you performed all the steps: Yes or No Did it work: Yes or No -Kindly send Picture of the Serial number on the Device itself: (not from the box) -Color of the product: -Kindly provide receipt screenshot if you can't provide the serial number In case you don't have receipt, you can contact the store the product were purchased from for possible receipt copy Kindly provide your Complete Physical shipping address: Telephone Number (including country code): UPS Deliverable: Yes or No

I listened to these using the in-store demo and they sound fantastic. However, I didn't realize before buying two of them that they are still using Micro USB. Yes, this is on me for not doing my due diligence. However, it is completely unacceptable to still be shipping and shelving ANY electronics in 2024 with such an outdated standard especially for as much as these speakers cost. How these have not received a product revision to include the new USB-C standard is beyond me. I will be returning both of these speakers and buying something else from another brand.

This Megaboom3 is terrible. Husband had the original and loved it. We have had this one for 2 weeks and 2 days. Battery says its at 100% power, but only last an hour or two, NOT 15. It wouldnt work unless plugged in, otherwise it just disconnected from the bluetooth. He would pause it and come back 20mins later and it had started playing by itself. Tried to return it when we got back from vacation but apparently best buys return policy is only 15 days instead of 30...so we missed the window by three days and "the system wont let them do anything about it". I cant believe best buy is selling this garbage and ripping off customers. We will never buy from best buy again.

Purchased the red one multiple(2) times, and each time the item was defective….Item would lose connection while playing, we tried a blue one the final time and it was also defective. I purchase the purple one at the same time and no problem. I ended up returning both items and sticking with the mega boom ones which I have had for years with no problems…side note, stick with the mega boom 1 over the 3…THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO IMPROVEMENT FROM THE 1 to the 3….I would also recommend refurbished over new because the 3 speakers I received new from Best Buy were garbage….

We had the mega boom 1 for several years, (it was recently stolen). This one isn’t nearly as reliable. It constanty disconnects from Bluetooth on my wife’s phone, mine, and anyone else who connects to it. Every time we start the microwave or vacuum, boom, disconnected. The old one NEVER disconnected. Have reset it to factory, still the same. Would have taken it back, but I bought it for my wife as a gift before Christmas and by the time it was opened and used for a couple weeks it was too late to return it per Best Buy’s return policy. (It took us a minute to realize it was always going to disconnect). Do not buy, unless you’re a caveman and never use appliances.

This speaker is loud, pretty clear and somewhat bassy. However, the controls and the reliance on the badly developed app, make this an overall horrible experience. The app allows you to turn the speaker on/off, adjust the equalizer of the sound, and sync to your Spotify to create playlists. Sounds cool, right? Well, if you happen to NOT touch the app for more than 45mins, it WILL stop allowing you to use the buttons on the speaker itself to do anything. Oh, did you accidentally use spotify through its app instead of the Boom app? Well guess what, its gonna fight you the entire way for control, and then lock you out anyway. Wonderful. And if you decide to not use the app??? Well the first hour will be fine, and then the speaker will shut itself off. Turn it back on and you've got maybe another 45mins before it does that again. Oh and by the way, the buttons will not work after 30mins. Don't even try to cut it off because it would rather sit there and stay on but disconnected than to allow you the satisfaction of turning it off with the button. Get a Bose or JBL if you've got the money, or a Sony if you want to spend ~$90 less for something less loud but better overall

Hi James, we're sorry to see you're having some software related issues with your Megaboom 3. Through the app, it should have prompted you to complete any firmware updates the speaker may need since its original launch date. If you've already completed these and are still having these issues, you can perform a hard reset. Here are the instructions to do so: Press the Volume “–” and Power buttons simultaneously and hold for at least six seconds. You'll hear a tone that indicates the reset was done and your speaker then should turn off. This reset will bring your speaker back to factory settings. Turn your speaker back on using the Power button. If you complete the hard reset and still have software issues, you do have a 2 year limited warranty that can be used to have the speaker replaced. You can do that here: https://support.ultimateears.com/en/megaboom3/. Hope that helps!

Hit or miss with stereo pairing party mode.

Purchased a pair of these to have for stereo pairing for music and movies outdoors and indoors. Ordered the first pair got them and had them for a week and noticed that when in party mode one of the speakers would fall in and out of sync then connectivity would be poor. This made the sound quality very distorted and annoying, had to take them back to the store and ordered a new pair. Got the new pair and the same issues came about. My take away is that this speaker works amazingly well by itself and sound pretty good, feels the room with vibrant sound, but when pairing in party mood you will be very disappointed. They need to upgrade the Bluetooth system so that you can have an enjoyable experience. I wanted to give it more than one start but the amount of work I went through to get the first pair and second pair to only find out they will do the same thing is disappointing.

      Hi SoundGuy,

Sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with your MEGABOOM 3's. We are always looking for ways to improve our products, so we appreciate your review. What I can suggest is to make sure that your MEGABOOM's firmware is up to date.
      Update using the app:
To get started, connect your ULTIMATE EARS speaker to your smart device, open the app for your ULTIMATE EARS speaker, and tap on “More” to see if there are updates available. If there are, just tap to begin the update and the app will take care of the rest.
      Update without the app:
While it is quickest and easiest to update over-the-air with the app for your ULTIMATE EARS speaker, if you can’t update using the app or you simply prefer to use an old-school desktop updater, we’ve still got you covered. Click on the Mac or Windows download link below to download the update utility. After you download the app, run it and follow the on-screen instructions. You’ll need to connect your ULTIMATE EARS MEGABOOM to your computer to complete the update.
REQUIREMENTS: This update supports Windows 7 and above, Mac OS X (10.8.x) and above. If you ever have additional feedback or questions regarding ULTIMATE EARS products, feel free to visit https://support.ultimateears.com/en/

Brand new product after opening, doesn't charge out of the box. Charging light is blinking but doesn't go past 20% charging. I updated the firmware, tried resetting the speaker multiple times, tried different outlets, tried different chargers and nothing worked. I then proceeded to google the issue and there are many discussions on the subject. It seems this is a known issue with Ultimate Ears. I will be returning this brand new product to the store. First time in my life I ever had to write a bad review.

We needed more volume for a pool speaker and this one fits that need well. Gets more than loud enough but we’ve had sketchy battery performance. Recently started using it at 99% according to the app and it died in 2 hours of use at half volume. The app said it had 35% battery remaining but speaker said it was critically low. Hoping the issue is the app and the battery wasn’t fully charged. Otherwise this will price to be a horrible purchase. Only 1 stars until battery issue is resolved.

Hi Jrock, Very sorry to hear about your disappointment with the Ultimate Ears Megaboom 3 Speaker. Despite it not being able to connect via WiFi, you can connect up to 150+ Boom speakers via the Ultimate Ears app. Also, if you haven't downloaded the app and used it with your speaker you've missed out on a firmware update for your Megaboom 3. You're also missing out on some great features like remote on/off, customizable EQ, musical alarm, and the aforementioned multiple speaker pairing. Here's a link to the product page for the Megaboom 3 that wil give you more information:  https://www.ultimateears.com/en-us/wireless-speakers/megaboom-3.html. Hope that this helped and that all is going well. Thank you for choosing Ultimate Ears. - Richard from Ultimate Ears/Logitech

Very disappointed in cost vs quality/durability. Purchased it for my husband. It was never dropped, never actually tried it out in the water. He simply played some music for a little every day. 6 months into use it stopped turning off with the on/off button. Unable to perform a reset, too. Not responsive to any reset/off attempts. Just kept making the noise indicating it's trying to link to a device. We let it run out of battery. Took about 3 days of the device being on low power, still unable to turn it off, "critical battery, please charge" message repeated over, and over, and over... We had to wrap it in blankets and hide it in a closet in a different room to muffle it. This thing is possessed. Finally died, we thought maybe it reset itself, so we charged it to try. Turned out to be a mistake... no ability to turn it off (it would turn off for 3 seconds, then turn itself back on), again listening to the "critical battery" message for 3 days. Outside of return window... piece of trash

What a disappintment. We have the original Boom speaker and wanted to upgrade to something louder with more bass. So we got the Mega Boom today and I already repackaged it to go return it tomorrow. The sound was so low and the bass was nonexistent. I’m so disappointed in it.
