SIMs are "old" VOIP SIMS, No native dialer or SMS

These SIMs are the old, FreedomPop-like, SIM cards. You can only place calls and send texts using the Unreal Mobile App. You cannot use your phone's native dialer or native SMS app. These SIM cards use the AT&T network. I am using these in an Android LTE tablet so the lack of a native dialer doesn't matter since tablets don't have native dialers, if I make any calls it will be via Google Voice or using the Unreal Mobile App. I would not want to use these in actual mobile phone. The tablet is NOT on the AT&T White List, and perhaps a SIM that uses the native dialer and messaging app would not even work at all. Data speed is about 48Mb/s in my area. Not sure if AT&T is always that slow in my area or if AT&T is deprioritizing this MVNO. If you need a moderate amount of monthly data, for a tablet with LTE data (iPad or Android) these are a good deal.

Unreal is really unworthy. It took 4 days to port my number and my old netwoek disabled immediately after porting started. Later found out that this sim can work only with mobile app. Calling in app is crazy doesnt work properly, receving calls is like nightmare. Dont opt for this if this for your primary number. Will never choose this even given for free. Worst to deal with everything.

I use the SIM card only for data, no talk setting. It uses AT&T network but looks slower than AT&T on its response time. Except for the point, I am satisfied with it.

I usually use Unreal Mobile or Mint Mobile. Mint Mobile seems to get slightly better coverage for me, but Unreal Mobile is often on sale more often. I like them because I can use them without giving them a credit card and when I am done, I can use whoever is on sale at the time I need to start a new plan. The one negative is no hot spot.

    Horrible Painful to setup

Started the activation and phone number transferred process. Took more than 3 days still not able to get my number transferred. Finally my current carriers the plan is expired and I have to pay another month of services to use the service. Second attempt after few weeks finally it's transferred. Then found out that sim plan required to use apps to make phone call. Not the premium sim does not need to apps to make phone call. Also painful to setup the data, because it's an old plan, it uses different APN settings. Wasted a whole day to figure out the setup. Finally want to say don't buy that sim card. I can't wait 3 months to get out of Unreal Mobile.

    An AT&T MVNO user's opinion.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've preferred AT&T reception over Sprint and T-Mobile because of how reliable the signal is in deep South Texas. I've used several MVNOs with price points all over the place and they never lasted more than a month. Unreal Mobile has been so useful, so inexpensive and so much more reliable than any other company I've tried. I am such a fan I am happily paying for two lines. My wife's phone (an unlocked T-Mobile Grand Prime) has had issues with reception on the original carrier and another AT&T MVNO before but has not with Unreal. When my Blu R1 HD has 4 bars so does her Samsung. The service has been so inexpensive we're planning on buying new GSM handsets so we can keep Unreal. I have and will recommend Unreal to anyone who I see struggling with their current carrier.

This is not a normal mobile sim - needs voip app

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Please be warned that this is a voice over ip only sim .. it's not a regular sim that allows you to use your phone as a normal phone. You must download an app and make and receive calls and texts from that app. You don't find this out until you open the package. But after you open the package, Best Buy no longer will allow you to return this. Please be warned.
