    Great alternative to OnStar

Or if your vehicle has nothing like OnStar but you want peace of mind while driving. Even if your vehicle has OnStar, many of us found it too expensive after they dropped emergency response from their basic package. Which went to a little over $20 a month. You had to choose the next package up to get that feature. With Hum+ you get that for a little over $10 per month. Monthly emails, if you signed up for them, show stats about your vehicle. You also get warning emails, such as your car battery voltage getting too low (personal experience). If you need help on the road you have a button you can push that will bring someone on-line to assist you. Depending on your location, which is the same as OnStar. For an emergency you have a separate button that you can press. This unit also detects if you've been in an accident and have airbag deployment (depending on age of vehicle). TO BE HONEST, I've never had to press the emergency button. But I did accidentally press it once taking the unit off the visor. You really need to be careful how you handle the unit when installing/removing from visor. Downside: 1-speaker unit on visor has to be recharged every few weeks, depending on use. Normally it's easiest to do this by taking it inside with you at the end of day and putting it on a charger. Oh, you get an email telling you when the battery in the speaker unit gets low. Very nice. There is also an LED on the unit to let you know the battery charge. 2-speaker output. Wow. NOT good or very loud. I have to turn the volume up to max and turn off my air conditioner to be able to hear very well (okay, I am 64 and a little hard of hearing). I had no problem linking my Samsung S7 via blue tooth, but again, the sound output is not very good. Also, it seems the longer you talk the worse the quality audio gets. UNIT needs an audio output jack that you can connect to your AUX input on your car audio/stereo. That was the one thing that stuck out as most different about hum+ versus OnStar. Using the built-in audio of the vehicle was GREAT! There is an APP for your Android or iPhone that allows you to check the status of your vehicle at any time. Including LOCATION. I imagine that would be really nice for those with a new driver in the family. There are many more things that you can do with the hum+ that I haven't tried or have need of. Check out their web-site for more information. But I am very glad I have a unit in every one of my vehicles!

    Poor device for tracking vehicle

I bought this device to track a vehicle I rent out and have NEVER been able to log in. Verizon (Hum) tech support just keeps telling me to reset my password, which never works. I am soooo frustrated that I will probably return the device and get my money back. That being said, the in-store help for both Best Buy and Verizon were very sympathetic, and understood my frustration.

If you have kids you should get this for their car it will give you piece of mind on where there at when away from home and it sends you text alerts if they go outside the boundaries you have set along with a detailed driving report so you know if they are doing something wrong

Got this at the Verizon store, the rep praised it even told me if at anytime I was not satisfied I could return it, complete and total lie. The thing does not work, hooked it up to my wife's Envoy, three months later battery had a dead cell, no warning left here stranded in a parking lot. Put one also in my Toyota Tundra, a few months later I took the truck to get safety inspection and fouled out I had a bulb out. Well another fail on the Hum as it is supposed to notify if a light is out. The app and set up is a nightmare, the worst. Recommend to a friend, wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy

Piece of junk and can kill your car

I had a HUM device installed and it worked for about two years. Om 10/28/2019, my daughter called me and the car had stopped running. When I checked it out, the 15amp fuse to the fuel injector pump was blown. I replace the fuse with and without the ignition on and the fuse kept blowing. I had the car towed to a dealer and they removed the HIM device and replaced the fuse. The car has been running with no issues since. I called HIM and talked to them five times and they said it was a problem with my car. They did not reimburse me for my troubles. Genesee a supervisor at the j support HUM let me know about their decision on 12/30/2019. Don't get this piece of JUNK!

I have had two verizon hum devices for almost 1 year now. And I will agree that this is a complete waste of money. It simply does not work. My SUV car has been on the road for 2 hours and the app still shows its parked in the driveway. How awful the system performs is beyond work and something you simply would not expect from verizon. I have called several times but there is no way to get out of the 2 year contract. Cannot wait for the contract to be done and then stop paying. DONT BUY IT. I am not sure if others work, but VERIZON does not work. And I live in Washington DC, not some remote village. Does not work.

    Worst Product Ever

A loaf of bread tied to the back of the vehicle would work better. Had it 5 days and worked intermittently. CS kept on apologizing tech support said fixed it wasnt. There continual answer, remove unit and reinsert. Than their system went down nationwide. Dont waste your $$. My advice, but Mastrack, I know that works.

    Poor roadside assistance

I had a flat tire on the expressway - miles from home during a very bad rain storm. I call Hum - the operator asked if I was in a safe place and I responded "no" because. It took 40 minutes for him to even call for a tow truck, and another 30 minutes for the truck to arrive. The Hum operator had to slowly verify my address, and we spent way too much time trying to figure out where to take the car. I asked that he call a tow truck and they would undoubtedly have recommendations. That was not sufficient. I was very close to an exit and my phone showed many potential places very close. I asked several times for a tow truck to no result. I was in a very unsafe situation and 40 minutes was not acceptable to make the first phone call to a tow service.

Great device, poor support from Hum

My first Hum went entirely bonkers, telling me that my car was wandering all over in a 5 mile or so radius, when all the while it was parked at my house. Hum tech support, consisting of a bunch of script-readers, was entirely worthless, Fortunately Verizon's was much better and they replaced it immediately. The replacement works flawlessly. It locates the car within a few feet and the Hum server unfailingly reminds me when battery charge or tire pressure gets low.

I've been wanting something for my car (Ford Explorer 2004) and I'm not very smart with car issues. I got 1st month free subscription when signing up. Although sign up was a hassle for me. I turned of Wi-Fi and it went through just fine! I was thrilled and plugged it in my car and charged my speaker. Started my car and drove for 2 miles. Turned off my car and it emailed me issue of my car and shows up in Hum app! Now I know what I need to get fixed in my car! :) I like that this can track my car, monitor my driving skills such as speed, hard brakes, fast turn, etc. I love this already! Better than that expensive OBD thingy that people buy from auto store. $10/month is definitely worth it.

You have to pay for it even if you stop using it

I bought 2 hum devices a couple years ago, 1 for my new truck and another for my older "toy" vehicle. I was told that I could move the device to another vehicle if my toy died or was sold. Well I sold the toy about a year and a half ago and cancelled the device on that vehicle. I recently bought a new toy and called today to reactivate the hum for it. I was told that because I cancelled service on the 2nd device that I could not reactivate it. Basically, I would've had to pay for something I wasn't using for 18 months to be able to switch it to my new vehicle. My second hum is now nothing more than a paperweight. What a terrible business model. I would not recommend this to anyone and am upset that Verizon would offer such poor service to their clients.

Found my 94 year old dad!

My Dad is 94-years old and still driving. Recently he got in his car and had not eaten for several hours. His blood sugar plummeted and he went on a 6 hours, 166 mile trek all over the county and up and out of the county. I discovered he was lost at 7:30PM. He left his house at 2:53PM. We started chasing him, using the HUM as our guide at 7:40PM and finally caught up with him at 8:40. We intercepted and had him drive home with me in the car. Once we got food in him, he was back to his old self. I cannot tell you how grateful I am that we had this device on his car. Just know that he was 100s of miles in a huge area. I would not have ever guessed he would have drove that far. Now I understand why Silver Alerts are statewide. He was totally confused and lost, and because we had the HUM on his car, we found him.

Customer service: 1 star. My daughter rolled her car. She pressed the HUM button to seek help from customer service (CS). The CS agent told her if she had a wreck then she needed to contact law enforcement. CS did not offer to do it for her. She had to search through the rubble for her glasses and cell phone. Equipment: 1 star, we had two devices. Both lost their charging cable ports after about 7 months. Apparently, this part is glued in and the glue does not hold up in the summer heat of Texas.
