The overall quality is great. The picture is perfect and the colors are so vibrant. The smartcast took a little getting used to but it's definitely a great feature. The only thing I was unhappy about initially was that the tv would lose connection with the internet, but it doesn't seem to happen anymore. Definitely the best tv I've ever owned!

I love the picture quality of the TV for the most part. After spending hours calibrating the TV after setting it up like I always do the picture looked great and I was very pleased. I have noticed two short falls so far. First is the upscaling of lower quality streamed content is not that great and you may notice pixilation in the blacks or darker scenes. For higher quality streams the picture looks amazing on the display. The other issue is an issue that I have been continually trying to work through and is an over saturation of red (see included photos). I thought this would be an easy fix with the extensive options that the TV has for color calibration but after trying many different setting I have yet to correct the issue. The tablet that comes with the TV works fine but you can use any tablet or smart phone with iOS or Android to do the same. Right now it is just being used by my son to play Five Nights at Freddy's. Overall I am mostly satisfied with the purchase.

I'll start off by saying that we bought a open box item before I get to my review. It was discussed with our sales person prior to purchasing this TV that we were getting a certified excellent tv by purchasing this one. It was a good deal and they said 9 times out of 10 if it's certified excellent that the geek squad goes through them and it's usually someone just returned it without using it. Ours however was not the case. We spent over $1100 on this TV and when we got it out of the box we immediately noticed the side metal trim piece was bent off the side of the tv. We could somewhat dismiss that till we found there was no power cord. These are more issues with Best Buy than the tv at this point but there is more. When we finally bought a power cord all was well for about a day. That's when the problems started to occur. Within a day of using the tv the screen started freezing up or glitching. At first we thought it was the Xbox. But then it started happening on the regular tv. And more often. The remote tablet would never work. And the sound cut out. At this point we had had enough. We took it back and exchanged it for a Sony xdr850 series, wish we would've got this from the get go. When we tried to contact vizio about the issues we had experienced they were no help. It was just a very bad experience, the colors were ok refresh was decent at best. But the tv looked beautiful.

My Insignia died so I bought this Visio after looking at reviews for a few weeks. Now the picture was great clear blacks were good. I hooked it up at 5 pm and the next day at 1:15pm I lost half of the screen... So be aware it may work for you.

I purchased my first Vizio approximately two months ago. The LED backlighting went out on a quarter of the screen and Vizio was initially resistant to replace the tv. I was continually offered an ill-equipped (less featured model) and refurbished alternative to replace my tv. The factory warrant never changes...my warranty has continued to run for the past month despite having a defective tv. My first replacement tv was delivered with a shattered screen. Vizio customer service has been unsympathetic to my situation. I will never purchase another VIzio. Not worth the price difference of other mainstream brand names.

This TV was delivered to me after a previous Visio failed on me. The tablet remote is a huge pain. To accomplish anything takes a full minute: Power on tablet, unlock it, let it sync, hope you're in the right app, choose function. It was fun for about a minute until I realized I have the same exact functionality on my personal phone. After 3 days of minimal use, a row of pixels failed. Product returned. After 2 failed TV's in a row, my advice is say no to Visio.

Worked great for 3 weeks, then the lower left quarter of the screen went defective. The TV uses active LED zones for the backlight. Below is a picture of what it looks like to have 1/4 of the TV fail to function. My first Vizio TV and it will be my last...glad I'm within the return period so I don't have to deal with manufacturer refurb.

    An honest review.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Here's my honest review and my personal experience with the Vizio M65-D0. I recommend taking this into account before making your purchase. Mid June I purchased my shiny new Vizio m65-d0. I did A LOT of research before finally plunking down my hard earned 1500 bucks. I don't get to spend this much money on a "toy" very often so I was determined to get my money's worth and buy the absolute best TV for my money. My budget was 1500. At the time 1500 was the price of this TV and the only store locally I could find it was at Best Buy. Now pause the story and on to the actual product review: The TV was awesome. I loved it. I love geeky tech gadgets and this product really fit the bill. First off, the picture is awesome. I was coming from an old 47 inch 1080p sharp aquos so this was a huge upgrade. 4k looks awesome and carries some pretty big bragging rights at the moment. At first I loved the included tablet remote. What's also awesome is that you can download the same app to control the tv onto any android phone (not sure about apple) and then you have complete control over the tv from your phone which is always close. I have 2 small kids so remotes seem to disappear. Eventually I stopped using the supplied tablet all together since my phone (galaxy s7) runs way faster/smoother making the tablet redundant. I will say that the vizio app is updated a lot and it improves every time which is awesome. It was a little slow and buggy at first but was quickly fixed with an update. I love that this tv does both formats of HDR (after a firmware update) although I read in an AV forum that this TV doesn't truly display HDR. It can read the info and display HDR content the best it can but since the color gammut is limited it doesn't show properly. For true HDR, step up the P series. Don't take my word on that, look it up yourself. This TV displays all kinds of content wonderfully but I only use the nVidia shield TV since i cut the cable long ago. It doesn't like to play nice with my shield TV which is odd because my old Sharp Aquos did just fine, and I have 3 other friends with the shield and they never have any problems so I have to assume it's a compatibility issue with this TV specifically. Sometimes I turn the tv on, shield on and the display is black. I reset both, then i see the android boot screen come up and then the tv goes black again. I've figured out that about half the time, if i switch the input and then switch it back, i'll get the shield tv to display properly. At first, CEC worked well with my shield and this tv and then one day it stopped working. Could never figure out how to get it working again. The google cast feature works flawless but a chromecast really only costs 35 bucks full price so i can't really praise that too much. And Vizio's version of "smart TV" is letting you cast content from the included tablet through their app. Again, decent feature but only worth 35 bucks. This TV is NOT fast to power up. Not slow exactly, but just not as speedy as i'd prefer. Since there's no smart tv that needs to boot up, it should be faster. Switching inputs is also a bit on the slow side. Sound from this tv is decent enough that it doesn't bother me and i don't feel the need for a sound bar. I love that it has 5 hdmi inputs. The included basic remote is good; it does what it should. But, aside from basic functions, you'll have to resort to using the tablet. Now, back to my story. I was content with my new tv, both pros and cons. Until about a month later when I noticed the bottom right quarter was noticeably darker. I called Vizio since i was outside of best buy's terrible (compared to costco) 14 day return window. They agreed to bring out a replacement to my house and install it. Great. I will say that their customer service is top notch. Each rep i spoke with seemed honest and sympathetic and didn't give me any canned responses. I know that electronics can have a high failure rate so i completely understand and wasn't upset at all. Vizio made things right. Exactly a month later (no joke) my now SECOND m65-d0 has the EXACT same problem. Only this time on the opposite side of the screen. I call Vizio immediately. Again, same great customer service. I kindly and politely explain to the rep that each tv lasted only a month and I would like to be upgraded to the P series at not extra cost, or get a full refund. The rep explained that he would have to submit that to his higher ups and it would take a couple days to get a decision. Sure enough, two business days later I get a call from Vizio saying that my refund will be approved and they will come to my house to personally pick up the defective unit. They were very apologetic. NOW, I know that YMMV but I have decided to buy a samsung ks8000 from costco. It's a few hundred more but I just can't justify buying another vizio at this point. So my advice is to stay clear of the M series this year. Sure, it's a great value but it's also a gamble. Either step up to the P series or go another route entirely. I was upset that Costco started selling this set for 250 less but now that i'm getting a full refund i could care less. So to sum up: Pros: Easy setup, great picture, Built in google cast, tablet/phone remote functionality, 5 HDMI inputs Tuner free display (which could be a con to some, but i always hate when i accidentally hit the channel button and then the tv switches to static) Good sound quality Fantastic price - you'll spend much more for these features with another brand. FALD - look it up. Usually only comes with high end tvs which are thousands more Great all around picture. Blacks look black. Black bars at top and bottom on some movies disappear in the dark. Decent design. very minimal which i like. No problems with glare Great upscaling Great motion Great app support GREAT customer service from vizio Cons: Doesn't play nice with shield tv slow start up slow input switching issues with quality control tablet is almost useless if you own a smartphone. Although it could be a value if you need a 6 inch tablet, albeit a basic one. I guess this could be a pro or a con for you. Personally, I'd like to see it taken away and the value put elsewhere. Kind of thick compared to other brands. Although there's a trade off between decent sound and a thin tv. So that about concludes this review. I'm currently waiting on Vizio to pick this tv up so i can buy a samsung. In my pictures, i show the first tv with the dark spot on the right, then the second, with the dark spot on the left. I used chrome browser with a white background so you can really see how bad it is.

I read a number of reviews from professionals and buyers before purchasing this TV. And overall I have to say I love it. Even without extensive calibration the picture is amazing. It is almost hyper-real. And it has plenty of HDMI ports for all of your devices (5 if I recall correctly). It also looks good in my living room. My only frustration is the remotes. The basic remote is too basic and is poorly laid out. And the tablet remote is goofy and too slow to respond. Fortunately I usually just need to power on/off, change volume, and change input with the included remotes (everything else is controlled from the device remotes).

This Vizio TV is truly amazing. The visuals on 4K content are perfect and crystal clear! The refresh rate and full array with local dimming are just fantastic! I could've gone with a Samsung or LG of similar price, but the full array is what sold me completely. The deep, rich blacks are mesmerizing and the color is also incredible! The only thing that isn't exactly up to par is upscaling, but it is there and does make the quality at least a little better most of the time. The speakers are excellent except the bass just isn't there, but bass won't be great on almost any 4K tv on the market. The tablet remote is a little difficult to get used to, but once you figure it out it becomes natural and easy! Overall, I am incredibly satisfied! Will probably be buying another one soon!

This TV is a great purchase. It competes well with, and exceeds in certain areas, with other brand name TV's at much higher prices. Compared to those, this may not win any any beauty contests, but it's not an ugly looking tv either. The VIZIO logo is small enough and located on the bottom right hand side of the TV so it's not in the way. 5 HDMI ports give you many options for all devices. I am running cable, XboxOneS, and an Amazon FireStick all with no issues. Please be sure to update all the firmware on this TV. When I bought the tv it was having an issue with the XBOX which I then found out was Microsofts fault as the XB was overloading their image output causing picture disruption. This has since been fixed with the XB March-2017 update. VIZIO includes 2 remotes, one of which accomplishes simple tasks like volume and channel changing, picture selection and output selection. The other is a fully functional tablet that can be used for anything you want like downloading apps etc. The tv runs an app on that tablet, which you can also install on your cell phone or iPad or tablet to fine-tune picture settings, rename output ports and general items. The picture is great, the black levels are insanely good. At one point I thought the TV shut itself off during a movie but then realized it was an extended scene in the dark. No blooming or light effect at all. Simply. Dark. I was able to get the TV in my car (Honda CRV) and in the door pretty easily. It's packaged solid and very easy to get out of the box. The stand-legs may look cheap but they are very sturdy. Little to no wobble at all once they are installed and secured with screws. Good TV for a great price. Don't let that fool you as paying another $500 will not necessarily get you a better TV.

Prior to this purchase, I've owned 3 other 4k sets. 2 Sony 950b and a Samsung curved 8700. All of these did not make the cut as with the edge lit backlight technologies, I always had huge issues with black screen uniformity, along with clouding. Picture on all these sets were fantastic, however most of my watching is movies in a dark room making the uniformity very aparant. Was going to just wait and save up for an OLED but with the Vizio, it being a full array backlight, I had to give it a shot. Brought it home and was very pleased. I ended up swapping the stand feet to face in as the stands themselves are very wide apart, but setup was simple otherwise. Did my own greyscale and color calibrations and am very impressed at how well this performed on an 11 step as well as gamma and color gamut. HDR is not as nice as other sets but still not terrible. I'd highly recommend this unit for the best bang for the buck hands down. The calibrate dark setting will please most users out there and out if the box, looks great.

I went from a 10 yr old Samsung 57" 1080p DLP to this 65" beauty. I do a TON of research on stuff like this on numerous websites. One of the ones I trust the most is rtings.com. They are very nuetral and yet extremely thorough. They also post screen calibrations they used that will help get the most out of your TV. I was originally going to get the Vizio 70" "E" series which was less $ than this, also a step down (second lowest Vizio model), but I found this one to be a CNET.com top pick and rtings.com had this rated higher than the competitors in this range and even a few of the others in the higher price range. They say it even competes with the top Vizio "P" series TV for 2016 and I can see why. This picture is beautiful. Bluray, Netflix and VUDU all look so crisp and clear and are upscaled from 1080p wonderfully. The black levels on this are amazing almost plasma like. The Vizio Smartcast is really slick. The nice thing about goin the route Vizio is taking with respect to casting vs having a smart TV with apps is that if it is a smart TV the apps don't get updates, nearly as often, if at all. Where if they are on a tablet or phone they constantly stay upto date. So it's a great piece of mind for future proofing too. The included tablet for this and the P series is an added bonus, but any smartphone can just download the Vizio Smartcast app and have the same features. But please, do yourself a favor and go to CNET and rtings and read what they have to say about thus gem. Niether of them are in the sales buisness, just information. I know I am VERY glad I did.

Really. I compared all the "best" options for about 3 months and this TV was so close in quality that at this price it was the obvious choice. The most important quality for me was how this TV handles motion. I am very sensitive to how LCD handles motion (I cannot even tolerate OLED motion handling). Until this TV, I had to stick with my Plasma 1080p. But this one does UHD and Dolby Vision while handling motion better than most other TVs at any price range. Note, this is the 65 inch with a VA panel.

Where to start...My wife and I LOVE the Vizio picture quality! History-I've been into the idea of an immersive "Home Theatre"experience since before it was even called that. From a 26" Sony Trinitron and Betamax with "surround sound adaptor" to a 34" Sony Trinitron(200+lbs!) With my first hdmi connector to Mitsubishi crt HD 1080P rear projection (with 7"crts!) and DVDs To Sony SXRD and Blu-ray We have ridden the tech waves. This Vizio made the decision easy to take the next step-4K/UltraHD/HDR/Dolby Vision. WOW! Streamcasting took a little getting used to but we just went with the Roku Ultra with the Roku interface which we already know. We are streaming 4K/UltraHD/HDR content from Netflix, Amazon, and You Tube. The Vizio with FALD blows away the competition with BLACK blacks and super bright highlights and extended color gamut. Some get into the debate over % of P3 but I am blown away by the PQ of this display. No OTA tuner is a non-issue for us because sadly we are surrounded by terrain that prevents any OTA reception. Even so I have an OTA tuner/DVR that I could have used. Don't let that stop you from enjoying the Amazing PQ of this Vizio. WE LOVE IT!

My First and Last Vizio Purchase

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased this TV in August 2016. The picture quality was great and we were generally happy. The biggest drawback, initially, was the tablet remote. Ours didn't like to stay paired with the tv or our network, despite having a router right next to the tv. Without internet access for the tablet remote, set up is difficult. In late January 2017, the top left quadrant of the screen went dark. It still displayed a picture but that entire quadrant was darker than the rest of the screen. I called tech support and they had me try resetting the tv back to factory and also swapping HDMI cables. Nothing changed. Vizio agreed to send us a refurbished TV. About 3 weeks later, our replacement was delivered. The delivery guy mentioned they get most of their business swapping out Vizio televisions, not exactly what we wanted to hear. The tv was swapped on a Tuesday. By Saturday we were having issues. The first issue was the TV would randomly turn itself off and back on again while we were watching it. Then it started to freeze with vertical white, black, and red lines going down the screen. I again called tech support and they had me do another factory reset to see if that helped. The following day, the vertical lines turned into horizontal lines across the frozen screen. I took a photo and sent it to Vizio and am currently waiting on their response. I'm anticipating us getting another refurbished tv and I'm not too confident it will last any longer than this one. Our warranty is up in August. I fully expect to have issues after the warranty is up that won't be worth paying out of pocket to fix. At that point, we will take this one to the dump and buy something else. Unfortunately the good picture quality means nothing if the tv never works. On a positive note, Vizio's customer support is US based so there's never a language barrier when calling for assistance, which in my case, is often. I will never buy another Vizio product. Maybe we are just unlucky but I'm not willing to bet my money on it. On a side note, we have a 10-year old Panasonic plasma tv that is still going strong. If Plasmas were still made, I'd stick with them.

This 65" 4K Vizio TV has better and more features than the comparable Samsung's, LG's, and Sony's out there today. It has very bright, crisp, and detailed picture along with having active zone led backlighting making the blacks, blacker and the whites, brighter and has enough HDMI ports (5 plus 2 HML USB ports) to hookup pretty much any and all devices you can throw at it. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is bc I came from plasma TVs b4 this one and besides maybe OLED TVs, led TVs just don't get as black or fluid as plasmas are but not really the TVs fault bc I knew I was buy an led screen bc I wanted the size and 4K resolution.

Went into the store to buy a larger tv with a budget in mind, but once I saw this that budget changed. Picture is awesome for blu-ray and gaming, but depending on what you are watching from your cable provider, a little iffy. It was hard to dial in to that perfect setting, I was feeling like the picture was a little gritty no matter what I did, I don't notice it now. If I could've afforded it I would have gone with the next Vizio model up. But I didn't want to spend another $800. That said, I still walk into the room and am really impressed with the picture quality. Chromecast is awesome.

I bought this TV mainly for gaming due to low input lag on on HDMI 5 input. My biggest complaint is only HDMI port 1 is 2.0 compliant so to get HDR on more than one device I will need a 2.0 compliant switch to hook up multiple devices. Picture quality is great except for 480 and 720 upscaling. Would recommend to anyone e not wanting multiple HDR inputs. If you plan to get the new PS4 and Xbox one buy the P series. Plus you will get a much better color range.

This tv is terrific. The picture clarity and definition is amazing. I was watching a program with a live interview from in front of the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC. I've been there. The picture was like looking through a window to that place I almost felt like I could walk through the screen like it was a window. Video games look beautiful on this. Shadows of Mordor on the PS4 and the Witcher 3 on Xbox One look incredible. I wanted to upgrade to the new 4K, and this was an affordable option. I upgraded from a 46" to this 65". Visio makes a good product at very competitive prices. The 240 refresh rate was also a factor in choosing this tv. This is my 2nd Vizio. I would recommend this to a friend who is shopping for a new tv.
