I bought the NyCloud Expert EX2 Ultra to store and stream my media files across my home network and devices. I am very impressed with the performance, features, and ease of use of this NAS device. It has 8TB of storage capacity, which is plenty for my needs, and it comes with WD Red NAS drives that are reliable and fast. The setup was very simple and the web interface is intuitive and user-friendly. I can access my files from anywhere with an internet connection, and I can also use the Plex Media Server to stream my videos to my smart TV and other devices. The device also supports multiple RAID options, backup software, and encryption for extra security and data protection. The NyCloud Expert EX2 Ultra is a great NAS device for anyone who wants to keep their media safe and accessible. It is well worth the price and I highly recommend it.

This was really easy to use, easy to configure with nice interface with help buttons in some areas make 4tb is all you will need it states 8 but it actually two 4 tb drives configured to raid 1 to upgrade drive capacity is easy but takes a few hours as you have to change out one drive put the new larger drive in allow the system to format and mirror once that had been completed ⁸you change out drive 2 for the same process mine went from 4tb to 12tb with no issues just time

I have purchased this disk after 5 previous ones including the 4T seeking capacity and web capabilities. I only miss a software like like the Great Dropbox as part of it and I would buy 2 more to have a live backup at home and at the office. The rest, speed and stability of the product is Great.

WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra storage is the way to go. This is my second of such WD external devices (an add-on to my home office NAS). The upgrade, beyond additional storage capacity, was a much faster file transfer rate and no delays with set-up. Simply set at RAID 1 (mirroring the two drives) and sleep at night. Great design WD!

Setup instructions didn't work on Windows 10. Instruction included doesn't make sense !! No instructions on how to backup your computer or iphone. had to search internet for detail setup. If you are not tech savvy you could get stuck.

I've always been a backup freak after losing 2 computers' worth of data many years ago. Finally, RAID backup is simple and this device makes it very simple. It has replaced 4 separate hard drives used as semi-manual backups. A standard weekend chore was moving backups from 1 drive to the larger drives. Now, with this RAID set up, it is done with the first system backup. Done, nothing to manually copy. Easy to set up, with only certain areas needing further explanation in the manual. Instructions are easy to follow. Any ambiguities were quickly cleared up with online help. This has WD Red drives, which I have in a 4TB x 2 configuration. I didn't buy it for maximum storage but for the RAID capability. It can also be configured as 2 separate 4TB drives for 8TB of storage total. In RAID mode, you have 4TB of duplicated storage. RAID was the out of box config one the one I received, but changing that is as simple as checking a box in the browser based config panel. Not a necessary item if all you are after is 8TB of storage, but if you're searching for RAID, this makes it simple.

I recently purchased the WD My Cloud Expert EX2 Ultra 2-Bay 8TB NAS, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This device has exceeded my expectations in every way possible. First and foremost, setup was a breeze. With intuitive instructions and user-friendly software, I had my NAS up and running in no time. The ability to access my files from anywhere with an internet connection is a game-changer for me, especially when I'm on the go and need to retrieve important documents or media files. The storage capacity is impressive, providing ample space for all of my files, including photos, videos, and backups. The dual-bay design allows for easy expansion, giving me peace of mind knowing that I can upgrade my storage capacity as needed in the future. I also appreciate the robust security features offered by the WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra. With password protection and encryption, I feel confident knowing that my data is safe and secure from unauthorized access. Furthermore, the device's sleek and compact design looks great in my home office setup. It's not only functional but also adds a touch of sophistication to my workspace. Overall, I highly recommend the WD My Cloud Expert EX2 Ultra to anyone in need of reliable and versatile network-attached storage. It's a fantastic investment for both personal and professional use, and I'm thrilled to have it as part of my tech arsenal.

I was looking for an easy-to-install and use NAS to replace an old Seagate Black Armor NAS I've had for many years. I'd narrowed it down to two and rec'd an email regarding a special sale for this item, so after a lot of reading/searching for reviews, I thought I'd give this one a try and, so far, it's worked and performed flawlessly. It was very easy to install (I'm using a Windows 11 laptop) and the transfer of all of the FLAC files (this is being used as a music server, attached to a Sonos system) went incredibly fast. I also like the fact that I'm able to schedule it to go to sleep overnight - my old NAS spun all of the time needlessly and was quite a bit noisier than this one. All in all, money well spent.

I had problems with my work places file server, I needed something fast. This WD drive is just outstanding. Fast file sharing and super easy! I also use the FTP on this drive to copy the files over to a Mac for backup using chronosync for Mac Everyone is happy, absolutely no complaints, it comes as raid 1 and that works for my use. After looking into reviews after, I also found out the specs are really good for this NAS as I saw in performances anyway. Highly recommended!

Works great, but it seems the device isn't powerful enough to handle the videos I've saved. Some of which are less than 1080p. Plex is promoted for the device, but attempting to view a video via plex, causes videos not to load. I love the storage. 4TB are definitely enough and will save me several dollars each year. As long as the device can keep going. So far it's been 3 months since I got the device. It works great.

I bought the WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra 8TB as a central storage hub for my household and business files, and it’s been nothing but reliable. Setup was simple—just plug it in, follow the on-screen instructions, and it's ready to go. The interface is user-friendly, and I had it backing up files from multiple devices in no time. Transfer speeds over my local network are solid, and I love having all my important documents, photos, and videos in one secure place. The dual-bay RAID support gives extra confidence in case of a drive failure, which is exactly what I wanted for long-term storage and peace of mind. It runs quiet, doesn’t overheat, and looks clean on the shelf. Definitely a great pick for anyone wanting organized, centralized storage without the headache.

I work in I.T. and I recently decomissioned most of my home servers, one of which hosted my file shares. I decided that my setup at home was more complex than it needed to be, so I started looking for a consumer Nas to simplify operation. Out of the box it was setup for Raid1. I setup multiple users and created volume shares easily for each person. The performance is what I'd expect from platter based disk's and network throughout. I did not enable the cloud service as I'd rather not rely on a service which will most likely become obsolete many years later. Easily one of the best purchases I have made to simplify my home network.

I purchased this to have access to devices on my home network. I used the default Raid 1 setup for for backup and to archive files. Initial setup was easy as described in numerous reviews, and I mapped the drive to Windows 8, Windows 7 and Win XP computers without any problems. I can access it with my Tablets & phones using a file manager app. Since I only keep photos on the cloud I haven't set up on line access, but It looks like it would be easy to do. So far, so good with it. It got good reviews, and I agree. Only gave it 4 stars because you have to use browser to shut it down.

I'm admittedly not a fan of cloud-based storage. My primary concern is cost of storing on the cloud; I have several Gigs of storage. This device solves two of my problems: (1) storage is large enough for my needs, and (2) I don't have to pay extra fees to larger cloud-based storage. It's all right there in the house. Two downsides: (1) The set-up can be a little complicated if you're not familiar with such things. Fortunately, online customer support was great. (2) Although I can easily access the unit through networking when at home, access away from home is a little more complicated. It is possible to access away from home, but you can only copy/paste single files; if you're looking to download a folder, it's not going to happen. It's definitely pricey, so weigh the difference between a one-time purchase, and monthly higher storage rates on other cloud services. I felt the purchase was worth it in the long run.
