Cable vs Roku!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't get me wrong cable's amazing, but it really comes down to how much you are willing to spend . . . The Roku 2 works great; it's easy to install, interface is simple to use, and subscription rates are a fraction of the cost compared to cable. If you are on a budget, and debating on cable vs Roku, definitely go Roku.

Easy to use set up, fast convenient system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was using my laptop for streaming vid to my tv, this is way faster easier and prevents wear n tear on my PC. But make sure you have decent internet...basic DSL is not enough. Powers on and connects automatically so one less thing to switch on. Also the phone remote app you can download is pretty slick

Work as advertised
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a HTPC running Emby... my wife kept complaining that the setup was not user friendly (specially because of the lack of a good remote control). So I bought the roku-2 and now my wife is happy and I still have access to Emby (thru a roku app)... everyone is happy.

Awesome streaming device!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose the Roku 2 over the stick, 3 or 4 primarily because the 2 can be used with an infrared remote. The 3, 4, and stick all have RF-only remote capability, and I use a Harmony One universal remote to control my gear, and that is IR-only. I primarily use the Roku to stream content from my Plex server, but also it works great to stream many channels on-demand in conjunction with my U-Verse TV service. Also have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime subscriptions, plus there are tons of free streaming choices available through Roku. You could probably find over 10,000 different things to watch at any give time. The Roku itself was easy to set up and configure.

Great alternative to Sony JUNK
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this mainly to watch Netflix streaming. I had been using an expensive Sony Blu-ray player with Netflix app. But in July of 2015, it started having issues where the video would freeze from one to five seconds, but audio would continue. This would happen up to a couple dozen times per show. More and more shows became affected, to the point that watching anything was painfully annoying. Plus, the freezing would always occur in the same spot if you watched the show again, or rewound. It would not happen when watching the same episodes via PC or tablet, proving it was not Internet connection. Went to Sony online support, found out NUMEROUS people were experiencing the exact same problem, across multiple Sony models. Most likely it was a firmware issue. But Sony NEVER acknowledged the issue, never even responded to multiple requests for help, nor did they do anything to address it or fix it. I have bought my last Sony product ever, and heartily warn everyone to stay away from Sony products. A company that will not even acknowledge an issue but totally ignores numerous customers does not deserve your business. The Roku has been great. It is SOOO fast compared to the Sony Blu-ray player, even when it was working right; it loads episodes almost immediately. I heartily recommend it. The only issue I have noticed that I don't like is there is no OFF switch even on the remote. It is just supposed to go into stand-by, which sometimes it doesn't, and the light will just flash until the next time you use it. More of an annoyance, so I still give it five stars.

Q: Questionwhat's the difference between roku 1 2 3
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Roku 1 is the original unit and has a very slow processor and limited choices. The new Roku 2 has the same processor as the new Roku 3, very fast. The Roku 3 has voice activation and a RF type remote (you don't have to be able to physically see the device for the the remote to work). Best value, Roku 2.

Q: QuestionIs there a fee to set the Roku 2.I was told there was a $89 fee to set it up.
Asked by Eugene.
- A:Answer No there is not a Fee. They do want a credit card number, But I just use a Debit card I got at Walmart. as long as it has $1 on it your good. They want this in case you buy some games or other apps from there store. You have several options you can set to prevent someone in the house from doing this. All off the Apps I have are free. you will have to open accounts at netflix HBOGO or Amazon instant video if you want to use them. They all have a 30 trial so I would go with that until you find one you like. I have the 3 above but had those account prior to get the Roku 2. There are a number of sites that have free videos such as CBS TBS youtube, PBS and Crackle. have them also. One point the Roku 2 is the same box inside as the Roku 3. the difference is the remote has voice and an headphone so unless you plan on using them all the time dont bother with the 3 and save $30 -$40 bucks

Asked by timewarnersuckseggs.
- A:Answer Roku 2 4210R (2015) Roku 2 2720R (2013) The 2015 has the same processor as both Roku 3 models. Which is why it runs just as quick and smooth.

Q: Questionmultiple tv'sIs it possible to hook up two TV's to one box?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Natively, no. Not without some sort of HDMI port replicator. Even then, it would be a mirror image on both TVs. Without additional hardware, roku is 1 TV per device at a time.

Q: QuestionDifference between Roku 2 model 2720R and 4210R?Does anyone know the difference between the 2 models of Roku 2 besides 2720R having access to 1500 channels and 4210R having 2000 channels? I did a comparison but 2720R did not have much info filled in. Thanks, Gail
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Only difference is the 4210 has the same processor as the roku 3. Much faster. It also does not have the headphone jack in the remote. For me the faster processor is worth losing the headphone jack.
