A: In the Smart Things app, there are controls to turn on/off the ice makers in the fridge AND in the freezer. You can turn off the Cubed ice and the Ice Bites on the freezer and voilá! No more ice made on the freeze. You can use that space for food now.

An Absolutely Great Refrigerator
Okay. Here's the deal. I had a great Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator. It was 7 years old, and I had the icemaker replaced twice (people: buy the extended warranties). It also had one side as a freezer, and the other as a refrigerator. I bought a new upright freezer, and all my freezer stuff went in there. So, I needed a fridge with more capacity...and more ice. I am a certified ice junkie. After obsessing about all of the choices in new refrigerators (even Frigidaires), I went with the Samsung 30 cu. ft with FOUR types of ice, two through the door, and two in the freezer compartment below. I will never run out of ice again! And I LOVE the ice shapes. It's also magnet-friendly (yes, I'm that person). AND, I love the room. Literally. It's huge inside. I bought turntables for all my standing condiments (also that person), and bins for the larger items, to help keep the shelves clean. And the light! Nothing blocks the light that comes on when you open the doors! The way that the refrigerator cools, everything stays crisp in the veggie and fruit drawers, and I love the deli drawer for the meats and cheeses, of which I embarassingly have too much of. I keep quick foods (like pot pies, frozen lasagna, etc. in the freezer drawers below, and now I have a place for my popsicles (also..that person). The only complaint, and it's so small, is that the water and ice through the door come out a bit slower than I would like. But, that is such a tiny inconvenience, and I'm just happy to have great filtered water (which comes out quite cold). This really is a great product, seriously. So happy to have it. Life is so much easier. Oh, and my doggies don't have to move (they love sitting in front of the fridge) every time I open the doors.

Samsung Modern
This refrigerator is great, the 2 bottom drawers are the freezer with the first drawer baing 40% taken by the 2 other types of ice container. However this was one of the reasons we wanted this. I like the 4 kinds of ice. The fridge french doors do not open all the way back but the ice maker on top is very narrow and gove you lots and lots of room. Its very big, my wife did not like the freezer because she likes more space but I thinks its great. The only negative is that within a week there is 2 little dings on the drawers that I do not know how they got there but its hard to see unless on a glare (see picture) but so far so good.

So much space and so cool!
Best fridge I have ever owned. I cant track energy use on the app and change temps. It makes 4 types of ice and has so much space that I still have space left over after a grocery run.
