Works as expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought first one three years ago for my basement sump pump that never shuts off during spring melt and fall rains. Just a week ago I get a message that the sump pump area is wet. Have in been mulling around in that area of the basement earlier in the day I had accidentally bumped the cord and unknowingly unplugged it! Saved me from a flooded basement!

Love these!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was so thrilled to see that SmartThings released a lower priced version of what they used to sell for twice the amount! Plus, the quality feels better and it can detect water on top OR bottom. It still tells the temperature too, so you can be alerted if it drops below a certain temperature. I have 6 of these placed around the house and feel much more at ease that I will be alerted if there is a water leak. My next purchase is going to be a smart water valve so that I can have the water turned off if a leak is detected.

Good sensor for piece of mind
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always had a couple of water sensors in the house to let me know in the event of a water leak or sump pump failure. Have spent the last couple of years building up my SmartThings base and decided to add one of these to the mix as well. It's small and can be placed anywhere. Tested it to make sure it works, but luckily haven't actually had it go off in a real event yet. Great to have the piece of mind knowing that I can get alerted in the event that I am not at home via SmartThings. I might eventually move this to another place like under a sink or dishwasher, but before I do that I will get one that has the wires and sensor I can stick into the sump pump pit itself and be notified before water gets to the top.

Good leak sensor so far; successful detections!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After my old dishwasher leaked in a hidden manner and did a fair bit of damage to drywall and caused some mold to develop that I had to remediate, I decided I needed a solution to ensure this did not happen again. I decided to get a number of these sensors, including one for under the dishwasher. It's a bit thick, but it would fit there if I needed it to. For the dishwasher in particular, however, I converted one of the sensors to a perimeter sensor; I soldered two wires to the contacts on the top of this sensor and ran them around the rear and sides of the dishwasher, ensuring the wires don't touch one another. Now, if water puddles anywhere around the new dishwasher, this will detect it. I plan to do the same thing to extend the reach of the sensors I have near my clothes washer, water heater, and HVAC systems. Additionally, I placed a number of these under each of my sinks, to detect leaks there, and finally one in my crawlspace beneath my kitchen, in case any leak occurs there and doesn't trigger the sensor under the kitchen sink and dishwasher, as well as if any drain/waste piping develops a leak. One of my sensors have already picked up a valid, though non-issue, leak due to some wet clothes dripping on the floor and the water meandering under the machine and tripping the sensor. Overall, these sensors provide ample peace of mind that I am very unlikely to have a water issue crop up unknown and cause hidden damage in the future. If I could change one thing, I would like there to be an optional leak detection cable that could be easily connected to these, rather than needing to jury-rig one as I did for my dishwasher.

Easy Solution for Water Monitoring
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because I have some old water heaters that I wanted to monitor for leaks in the pan before I replace them. These sensors are a great solution for those wanting water monitoring and have a Samsung Smartthings hub. Easy to setup, less than a couple of minutes each. I tested them by placing a drop of water in a plate and putting the sensors on top...boom, immediate alert on my phone! I wiped off the sensors and they indicated it was dry. Very inexpensive way to sense something that could potential end up being extremely expensive.

Q: QuestionCouple questions: 1. Can this be paired up with ONLY the ADT Security Hub ? 2. Can someone that already has this working screenshot the data it shows ? (I'd like to add it on as a temp sensor in my bsmt to send alert if its getting to cold)
Asked by tmoney20g.
- A:Answer I'm using this sensor with the plain smartthings hub, not the ADT one. You can set it to send alerts when a certain temp is reached.

Q: QuestionHow can I make the Water Leak Sensor sound off an audible alarm in addition to providing me an alert on my phone?
Asked by Boshop.
- A:Answer If you are using SmartThings, when you are setting up your leak settings in the smart home monitor (classic app), click on “alert with siren” and check the box next to the siren you have. If you don’t have one, any z-wave siren will need to be added into the hub prior to linking the sensors.

Q: QuestionCan you set a temperature limit and get an alert on your phone? I’m primarily looking to remotely monitor temperature to avoid frozen pipes but also have use for the water sensing function.
Asked by Jessica.
- A:Answer Hello! You can absolutely create a temperature notification within the SmartThings App using the Water Leak Sensor in a custom automation. You select the temperature threshold, as well as the message that is sent if the threshold is hit. If you have a compatible audio device connected to the system, you can also program an audio notification. Thank you! ~Samsung Brand Ambassador
